I had heard about the Maui Cookie Lady cookies in early 2016 and knew that I had to get one the next time we visited. At that time, the cookies were only available at various local markets that would get a delivery once or twice a week. There was no dedicated retail store then. In November 2016, it finally happened! I was able to find a small supply of Mitzi's, the Maui Cookie Lady's, cookies at the Market Maui (since closed). My first cookie was Da Half Baked - a chocolate chip cookie stuffed with Reese's, Snickers, AND Oreo! OMG...only a super creative cookie chef extraordinaire could have imagined such a delight! I knew that I would be a fan forever!! On every subsequent trip, I sought out the amazing cookies. It wasnʻt always easy to find them, as the batches were small and offered in very limited locations. I would be on a mission and never gave up until I found them. My friends and co-workers were always so excited when I brought them back a "world-famous Maui Cookie Lady" cookie when I returned from Maui. In late 2020, the year after my last trip to Maui, the Maui Cookie Lady opened up a retail shop in Makawao. I haven't been able to stop by in person yet, but I will be going the next time I visit. I tell all my friends about the cookies, and several have been able to stop by the cute shop. When I am lucky, a friend will bring back some ono cookies for me. The Maui Cookie Lady cookies are not like most of the cookies you are used to eating. The first thing that you will notice is that they are really big!! I like to say that they are "gargantuan"! The second thing is that they are made with creative ingredients that may be familiar to you, or they may be new. Many of the varieties incorporate local ingredients lilikoi, Kona coffee, and macadamia nuts. The combination of flavors will excite any cookie loverʻs taste buds. Donʻt worry if you are not local to stop by the shop in person. You can order cookies online, individually or via the monthly subscription box. If you are visiting and want to take a few home with you, know that they can be frozen and stay great when you want to enjoy them. They do not contain preservatives, which I think is a big plus. In addition to creating great cookies, Mitzi is a big supporter of the community. She helps with various fundraising efforts to help those in Maui. As a former teacher, she is connected to educators in Hawaiʻi and their special needs. Once I get back to Maui, I will visit the store and update this review. I can't wait!

However, once you have the pineapple macadamia or any other cookies here, you will know that this is even better. You can find them in some grocery stores, but going to their warehouse is the best for the reason of 1) fresh! 2) better price as you cut out the middle man and directly benefit the actual makers of these amazing cookies. There's no sampling here, but you don't need to as you can buy a selection, try them and then get more of what you like another day. In January, each bag of cookie was $4 (yes! This is cheap for cookies with good flavor and texture!) Definitely will be back, or I'll be ordering online to have it shipped to mainland.

This is not your typical cookie. Personally I prefer a soft and chewy cookie. Theirs are airy and crispy which make them uniquely their own...delicious nonetheless! The friendly "auntie" at the factory said they've been there for years, and still going strong! You can purchase them for $4/pack. We left there with $20 worth of cookies, which you can see the flavors I chose in the pic. We ate the entire coffee one on the way back to Ka'anapali...LOL! I hired Cravings Bakery on Maui through my wedding concierge from my venue. We sampled a few flavors and were pleased with the taste so we decided to move forward with them as our selection. I sent a picture of the exact cake I wanted and was told they could recreate it no problem. Closer to the wedding I again emailed them about specifications which were again confirmed. When entering the reception I initially saw my cake and was heartbroken. It looked absolutely nothing like my cake. They used fake flowers instead of sugar flowers (or real flowers in the least) and the cake looked cheap overall. After the wedding I tried to contact them to rectify this issue and voice my concerns and was ignored. I sent a total of 3 emails to the same address previously used and the one that is on their website. I even filled out the feedback form on the website. I have still not heard anything back from them. They have terrible customer service and follow up. They got paid and have since given me the run around not caring if their client is satisfied. I would not recommend them to anyone, more so based on their lack of professionalism than anything else. Lol!…read more I had this place called "Maui Manjookies" bookmarked on my places to visit on Maui, but ever since 2020, I stopped commuting to Maui on a weekly basis, so now when I do go to Maui for work, it's a rarity. Sold at a store called - "Mikes Mini Mart" in Kahului, you can get an array of different types of Manjookies. I was also told that Pukalani Superette also carries the Manjookies, but truthfully, I've never noticed the Manjookies, probably because I was sidetracked by their Chili Frrrrrrried Chicken, everytime I go to Pukalani Superette! Lol! Today, I finally got my Manjookie fix as one of my good friends - Nathan Y. brought me back a omiyage gift pack of Manjookies that consisted of - Lilikoi Pineapple, Strawberry, Matacha, Blueberry, Ube, & Cranberry Guava. What can I say about da Manjookies??? It is as advertised! The Manjookies have a different texture from traditional manju, & their unique fillings are not too sweet. I didn't eat all six Manjookies by myself, as I shared it with my ohana. I can see why folks would dig this treat, as it's like a hybrid of a manju & cookie! At one point, my child was touching some delicate items, and before I even noticed, a staff member gently and politely reminded her to be careful. I was actually grateful for the correction because I could've been held responsible for the demages done. It truly takes a village to help raise children, and I appreciated how she handled the situation with patience and kindness rather than frustration. Mahalo to this wonderful lady working her. It's refreshing to visit a business where people genuinely care about both their products and their customers. Thank you for the delicious treats and for showing such grace and understanding. I must have contacted or visited every bakery on the island and not one would so much as lift a finger to help me with the exception of Tori at Maui Cakes. I actually had several other "high end" bakeries tell me to "just go to WalMart". Tori on the other hand, agreed to take my custom order and delivered an absolutely first class product on time and on budget and did it all with a smile. Brittany, the owner, is incredibly welcoming and accommodating and truly makes everyone feel at home. If you're looking for something different than just another beach day, come up here and enjoy the cool Upcountry breeze, beautiful scenery, and peaceful atmosphere. While you're in the area, you can also visit the nearby strawberry farm and goat farm, making it a fun day exploring another side of Maui. Every time we visit Maui, we make it a point to stop here a couple of times. One day we'll make it back for one of their special dinners - we just need to find a babysitter first!
