The glaze is delicious and the donuts have a crispy outside and soft, fluffy inside. So yummy! I'll definitely be back for more! There were three sweet ladies working in the store. One was getting what seemed to be phone orders prepared and the other two were checking people out. They take credit card in addition to cash! He got a job alongside his older brother, Francisco, in a small warehouse in Hayward, CA, baking pastries with both Francisco and his twin brother, Nano--the apple and cherry strudels, turnovers, pies, and other treats that eventually made their way into grocery store bakery cases. Even back then, it wasn't just a job to him. It was something he genuinely loved. That passion followed him through years of working in the Safeway bakery and continued to grow with every loaf, pastry, and dessert he made. Years later, David and his family made the courageous decision to leave California, where we grew up together, and follow God's calling to Lahaina. As a lifelong friend, watching that leap of faith blossom into Papi's Ohana Bakery has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Knowing the story behind the name makes it even more special. Papi's honors both the memory of his late father and his Heavenly Father, making this bakery so much more than just a business. It's a legacy of family, faith, and love. It's incredible to see how something that started more than 30 years ago has become such a beautiful blessing for him, Linda, and their family. As proud as I am of David, I can honestly say this isn't just about friendship--the cinnamon rolls are hands down the best I've ever had. And yes, I know I'm his friend, but I'd tell anyone the exact same thing after one bite. They're worth every bit of the hype. Living 2,500 miles apart now, I don't get to see him as often as I'd like, but this visit has shown me just how special this place is. From the incredible food to the warm hospitality, you can feel the heart, faith, and hard work that have been poured into every detail. It tastes exactly what it sounds like. They used to give the mustard spread, but now they charge for it. Either way, we are still coming back because of how fluffy and flakey the croissant is. Eat them fresh and warm they practically melting in your mouth with butter dripping through every layer and just a hint of honey. Even after sitting a few hours they are still soft and gooey. If you've had Nanding's in Oahu, imagine that same buttery goodness, but with even more of that gooey center oozing out. Why!?! Why!?! Why did I eat the entire box myself without sharing? Both slices came with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream, which is the only way to do it. The service was friendly, too. The indoor seating was full, so we sat outside, which turned out to be lovely for people watching and enjoying the fresh air.
