Good location but food and service need improvement. We came here because the wait at Burger Social was so long (that should tell you something about Gia Mia) and we wanted to sit outside. Our group ordered drinks and the crab artichoke dip to start. One of the cocktails wasn't made correctly and had to be sent back, but the artichoke dip was tasty. We ordered a pizza and pasta for entrees. The pasta was undercooked, while the pizza was soggy in the middle. You'd think an Italian place would at least get the basics down. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of options in downtown Wheaton, but I don't think I'll be coming back to Gia Mia anytime soon. read more

Gia Mia has two locations, Geneva and Wheaton. We had dinner on a Friday night at the Wheaton location. I would recommend reservations on weekends as they can get busy. There is an adjacent parking lot and street parking which is easy to find. There is a main dining area and a bar area which has tables as well. The environment is casual. Service was great. I had the pork chop which was cook perfectly and seasoned well. I would recommend Gia Mia looking for casual dining, reasonably priced entrees, and good service. read more

What an amazing food joint! Growing up in Wheaton, I absolutely love the food joints! Very updated interior and extra clean! The tables are close together, but that doesn't take anything away! My husband and I started with the Sangria and Wheaton Daze as well Calamari. Which the Calamari was the absolute best around! For our meal, we had pizza and it was fantastic! My husband made 1:00pm reservations to eat under the big top. We arrived on time and was told their was another group requesting the same. We noticed most of the tables haven't been served food yet so we knew there would be a long wait. We then decided to sit inside. The table was by the window and while waiting around for 15 minutes for a server, we decided to leave. A server than showed up and we told her the restaurant was too warm to eat comfortably. At this point we were really irritated and went to another restaurant. To the owner: Don't give customers an option to sit under the tent when making reservations. This happened twice to us already where we had to wait up to an hour and we had reservations the first time. Forget the fact that we are regulars because we won't be back anytime soon. read more

I had this amazing mushroom pizza and side salad. I have never eaten in wheaton before so they had a great lunch deal for $13 with a pizza and salad! I was amazed for the price! It looked small at first but it was so filling! They even let me have a side of ranch for my pizza crust. The food was ok. Not exceptional as we had hoped. We did carry out and upon pick up the food was only warm meaning it was cold by the time we got home. We had to reheat everything which wasn't the best. However, the more concerning thing is there is a recall on red onions so I called when making the order to ask if they were substituting and was assured they were. Not so....the pizzas still had red onions on them. Some of us pulled off the onions and ate the slices but our guests didn't eat the pizza out of fear of cross contamination and/or illness. This was embarrassing for us and disappointing about the restaurant staff. I'm guessing the in house vs carry out experience would be much better. read more

food is excellent but the bar service still slow and I'm not sure if they quite understand the concept of time and how long is OK to make someone wait for a drink. Cute Italian tapas & pizza place in downtown Wheaton. Modern & simple restaurant with exposed brick, other parts where it's painted in white, hanging Edison lights, warm wood textures throughout. Good service that seems to be on top of everything, tending to several small and large parties during a busy lunch rush. We took advantage of their half off pizzas on Mondays. Started our meal with eggplant parmigiano. Loved the crispy texture that wasn't too crunchy or light, just right! The super flavorful sauce was the star of this appetizer! EVOO, basil, lemon, Parmesan & roasted tomato sauce. Mmmmm! We enjoyed two pizzas thereafter. The Burrata pie is served with tomatoes, pesto, burrata cheese, arugula, pistachio, caramelized onions, roasted garlic & oregano. A little too much arugula as you can tell by the pic but it's an easy fix to pull a few leaves off. The BBQ pie was a nice change of pace with sweet BBQ, chicken, basil, onion, bacon, cilantro, provolone and mozzarella. They're wood-fired pies so you'll always get those charred spots on the crust which you may hate or love. I personally think it adds a lot to the whole flavor of the pizza. In general, they didn't overdo any of the items with salt which happens more often than not at most restaurants. On a normal day, it is a little bit on the pricier side for what amounts to a slightly larger than average size personal pizza (most are $14-$15 per). So the value isn't the greatest unless you come in on Mondays (half off pizzas) or Wednesday's (half off bottle of wine). However, considering it's farm-to-table and all home/handmade food, the freshness is there and very good altogether so our experience was a good one! Grazie! read more

Went for an anniversary dinner date night. Food was AMAZING! We are vegetarian and they accommodated our needs and made great suggestions. Had the charred cauliflower as an appetizer and it was next level awesome! Followed with the mushroom pizza with addition of butternut squash and sweet peppers. This was soo good! Finally also had the eggplant parmigiana with pesto linguine. That was the best eggplant parmigiana we have ever had. And the pesto linguine was awesome instead of the more typical creamy linguini. This past Saturday my party and I (4 adults and 1 high chair) waited over 1 1/2 hrs waiting for a table to open up after being told "it'll be around a 30 min wait". We have been here a few times. The food and service has always been great. Tonight our server was Allison. She's awesome, she's the kind of server who takes care of everything- friendly, fast, and fun. We had the garlic bread for the first time ( has light cheese, fresh garlic and sea salt). -I will come back again for that. We topped our salad on it and were full before the pizza arrived ...but it was so delicious, we ate it anyway! Great night! Monday nights are 1/2 price pizza night and you can even take out. Nice and inviting. Staff is very accommodating, just slow. Not sure why. When we went there it was somewhat slow, there seemed to be a lot of help. One issue we could think of was there is no bar tender, the staff does both which slows everything down. Veal meatballs are good but not hot. We had the wood fired pizza, good crust, thin sauce but he meat on it was great. You'd be better off getting fresh ricotta and raw honey from the store. The bread paired with it was OK, but dry (hard to chew). However, our mains - braised short rib gnocchi and strawberry balsamic chicken salad - were delicious!!! They really know how to pick and cook their ingredients! Meat was very good in both dishes! We have since been back to Gia Mia and it continues to impress us! We started with the Pancetta Dates and they were so delicious. Sweet, salty, perfect portion. For dinner, I ordered the pesto Linguini and my husband got the Strozzapreti. The Linguini was very good, the noodles were homemade, the pesto was herby and flavorful and there were giant scrumptious fava beans in there. But don't order this if you are hoping to kiss a date later in the evening, it's full of garlic! As much as I liked what I ordered, I have to admit the Strozzapreti was better. The chicken was juicy, the pancetta offered the right amount of salt and the sauce wasn't overly gluttonous, which is often my fear of cream sauces. It was light and flavorful. I definitely recommend! We will be back for pizza, it looks equally as yummy as everything we've tried here! read more

There is something that I really like about this place and I'm excited to go back and try more of the menu even though we had a couple of misses on the food. The pizza here is unbelievable. Reminds me of Spacca Napoli downtown. It came out so quick, was so hot and the flavor was amazing. I love the crust on pizzas like this, light and bready. We also ordered the side of just bread, bc I'm addicted to carbs. So good. The miss was with the appetizer. We ordered arancini. It came out so quick, but was not warm enough, maybe it came out too quick. It was just room temperature and the sauce was borderline cold. We also ordered the brownie for dessert. It was very delicious, but once again not warm enough. It was just room temperature and I'm positive it was supposed to be warm. Our server knew exactly the wine to get my husband upon description of what he likes, which is so nice. You don't get that very often, usually blank stares follow when you say a "high tannin wine" Our service was spot on. The place is clean and cozy.
