Burnt chicken ruined the taste throughout. I was the only walk in customer at the time and 2 people had left a short while before I placed my "to go order" as this is during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the kitchen doors were open you could see the cook going into the fridge and pulling out handfuls of ingredients without gloves that's just plain unsanitary. The cook had no mask, and another of the female staff was wearing the mask under her nose so that makes for inadequate protection imho. Knowing the heat will kill the virus is one thing but I expect better from a $17.50 dish and from an establishment that has higher overall prices. read more

We did Ladies Night Out tonight tried Giacomos for the first time and it was fabulous! Everyone who worked at the restaurant was so nice and welcoming and really did an awesome job but most importantly, the food was FABULOUS. At our table we ordered the carciofi salad, a large vegetable pizza pie and fettuccine alfredo and all of it was amazing!!! Two of us at the table do not eat dairy and they made the carciofi salad and pizza without cheese without any hesitation. Plus our waiter knew the menu so well and what ingredients were in the food without skipping a beat. So overall I felt this restaurant was cozy and the staff did a beautiful job with service and food. Besides the 9$ glass of flat red wine, the food was good. I had ravioli with meatballs it came with two big meatballs, fresh round raviolis, and tasty red sauce. The chicken roll, Margherita slice and penne le vodka with chicken was very good too. Discovered this on a trip to New Dorp recently. It must have opened within the past month, because I hadn't noticed it before. I'm really glad it's there, because the other pizzerias-not matter how fancy their exteriors, in this neighborhood are underwhelming, to say the least. This place does not disappoint. Friendly and enthusiastic workers. Place is new, neat and clean. The pizza was very cheesy and you could barely taste the sauce. Price was a little more than expected. One pie with two soda's $18.50. Also being on New Dorp Lane with metered parking does not make a relaxing outing because it is vigorously patrolled by the ticket people. Had to try it. But I most likely won't return. read more

With the promise of trying the Sunday Sauce, we came for our second time. Wow. We started off with the daily special appetizer, which was stuffed vegetables. Eggplant, an orange pepper and two mushrooms were on the plate and not a crumb left. Excellent. The Sunday Sauce can honestly say be explained in three words: It Was Delicious. The meats, meatball, braciola, sausage and a rib were perfectly cooked, as was the rigatoni pasta with the sauce that tasted homemade and a generous helping of ricotta. My husband had the same and enjoyed it. We shared the Nutella Calzone and that exceeded any and all expectations. Barely finished it, and also had cappuccinos which we also recommend. You will not be disappointed with Giacomos. The fried calamari was just dusted, nice and light. Not thick batter that you find yourself peeling off to actually taste the calamari. The pizza is very well made. You can see it is made with care and quality ingredients. The Rice ball with meat & peas was excellent. The Tartufo has a nice dark chocolate shell. Heard about the reviews of Giacomos and decided to get the pizza from there and a salad. The bill came up to $165 for 4 pies (2 were "specialty and 2 cheese) a salad ($50!!!!!!!!) and a small pasta. The order comes on time and everything is great until we realize the $50 NEVER CAME. We call the place back to tell them nvm to cancel the salad because they didn't bring it and to credit back the $50. The owner calls us back so nasty and mean and tells us we have to return ALL THE FOOD because he "can't credit the $50 back". So we tell him okay that's fine just give the $50 back in cash he says no he wants ALL his food back. We then try to reason with him because by then about 4-5 slices were already eaten from different pies. So we tell him "listen people already touched the pizza and ate some we don't want to jip you just give $50 cash so you don't loose the money for this " he yells and curses at us then hangs up the phone and sends his delivery guy to wait in the waiting room to receive the half eaten and touched pizza.
