Giant is expensive. The store is huge and clean and there's a great selection of anything you could want and need. That said, we bought a bunch of different produce items and they all rotted almost immediately. The raspberries had mold on them that night... it's possible that they were moldy when we bought them, we just didn't notice because we were in a rush. I never got to eat my florida avocado because it was brown mush when I cut it open two days after I bought it. In this economic climate, where groceries are Hella expensive, it's infuriating to spend that money and throw that food away. I may as well have set my money on fire. read more

I have bought subs at Giant Dundalk, Merrit Blvd. for a while and the meat has always been generous and fair for the price. Now I'm noticing that the subs have become skimpy. So, the subs are just mainly vegetables and less meat. Will not go there again. read more

I've been shopping at this Giant location (Dundalk, MD) for almost 10 years now, and the store has gone to shit. You can blame the less than stocked shelves on COVID... but bad produce/meats, dirty floors, employees smoking at the front doors, and poor service are not a result of COVID, this store is now being poorly managed and operated. The straw that broke the camels back happened to us last month (Aug 2022). Purchased (2) 1.3 lbs. of ground beef on Aug 14, marked to expire Aug 15, packed on Aug 13. Visibly, the meat was pink and looked fresh on the outside. Once I opened the package, it smelled funny, then even worse once in the bowl being mixed... the meat was rancid in the middle. I cut the 2nd package in half and the inside of the package was bad. The appearance of impropriety was overwhelming... (2) packages of beef with the outside fresh meat, but only the inside went bad??? Again, the appearance of impropriety was overwhelming... so much so, I contacted Giant Food to complain. The wrong store (Dunkirk) responded and left a message stating they were sorry this happened and willing to refund my money... I left them know it was Dundalk, MD Store. I responded several times to Giant Foods email reporting someone would contact me in 3 business days. It has been well over a month now and NO ONE from the Dundalk, MD store has contacted me. The pictures show the package I cut in half... you've lost a life long Giant customer and others who have heard my story. Quality and Customer Service matter, and apparently you've forgotten that. read more

Positives: great selection of fresh produce, fresh cut flowers are quality and decently priced, lots of options for all types of items and items are usually always stocked. Also, bakery has yummy and quality baked goods. Negatives: the deli is SLOW; I'm not sure if they are short-staffed, but It isn't uncommon to wait up to 20-25 minutes to have your number called to start your deli order. Also, there are usually only a few check out lanes open, even during the busiest times (Sunday mornings are crazy busy!) There is a self-checkout, but it takes a while for shoppers to check out a cart full of groceries rather than a few items at the self-checkout. read more

So, it's the last day of their sale on DEER PARK water 24 pk. I go in and look down the "raggedy" "dirty" aisle and see there's only one case left with other loose bottles sprawled all over the floor and behind the broken shelving ( unacceptable ) The sale was 2/24 pks. for $8.00. I figured THIS location wouldn't have what I wanted ( like usual ) but I decided to give them a shot since, I haven't been back here in quite some time. They didn't have the sale water. But what gets me is CUSTOMER SERVICE is terrible. Giant, why do you continually treat me like a "thief" every time I enter your store. NO TRUST AT ALL!!!! I told customer service there weren't enough cases left for the sale.?So, why do you have to check behind me like I'm some little kid???? I can count ( Sherri ) Finally, I got my raincheck from this sorry location and will be taking my business to further away GIANT food locations. This store is not my usual Grocery store but I come here when I need something that shoppers doesn't carry. I was looking for a 20lb turkey to fry yesterday for a small get together, and there was a lot of confusion as to if they had one or not. After following an associate around and eventually talking to a manager she informed me after a looking herself that they did in fact not have any whole turkey's because they don't sell well in the summer. Disappointed. I know its the middle of august but dammit I want a turkey when I want it. It cant be that hard to keep at least some frozen ones around for weird people like me right? I like this store, there are rarely long lines,it's clean, they have self checkout and it's stocked with hard to find items..usually. If Mars can keep them in stock why can't you guys? My favorite Giant! The staff is super friendly. Management is always willing to help. I either go early in the morning or late at night to miss traffic. I'm always in and out. Last weekend they had a barbecue party! Selling hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. it was a lot of fun!! read more

My family primarily does the grocery shopping here. When sales are around, they are pretty good deals. The store is pretty clean and the employees are very helpful. However, there never seems to be chocolate brownie Cliff Bars here anymore when we come. Salad is also pretty hit-or-miss, which is upsetting when I really want salad or am planning to eat the salad in the next few days for when it's still good. read more

I am wondering what's happening with this Giant. We pretty much shop here exclusively but lately we've had to deal with moldy produce and questionable sale signage. More frequently we find moldy fruit and veggies, which we point out to staff hoping they remove them. Today we brought home a tomato four pack and one was moldy. (we are taking it back but I wonder if they plan on some customers to just throw it away and consider it bad luck). Signage: Sale Signs are up after the sale ends, is that a form of "Bait and Switch" (specifically yesterday, 2/27, it was Greek Yogurt and Orange Juice, the sale ended on 2/25) is Giant expecting that customers just go ahead and purchase the items even when they find out they are not on sale? Little by little we are stopping off at Mars instead of driving to Giant. Sorry Giant. read more

This used to be my primary supermarket. I could find anything I wanted here -- including vegan, organic, and import options -- that were better priced than Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. I also really liked the scan-as-you shop feature. It was faster and more convenient than ever self-scan-checkout. Then they reorganized the store. Suddenly everything I'd relied on Giant for was gone. The British import section disappeared. Gluten free products were given two shelves at the end of an aisle, usually behind a stand-up display or a stack of cardboard boxes. Vegan items all but disappeared. Instead of an entire aisle for organic/veg*n items there's now a tiny segment with all the products crammed together. And I think the prices have gone up on non-food items, so I'm not really saving money by buying less of the expensive veg*n products. And then, the incredibly petty straw that broke the camel's back? The scan-and-shop system has been down for almost a month. It's back to spending more and buying less at a store where I know I can buy the food I need, and shopping somewhere else for the non-food essentials, and spending more on gas to go to different stores instead of shopping in one location. read more
