Underrated spot for Swedish candy! I love how you can pick and scoop out your own candy here and that they sell the TikTok viral bubs and skulls. However, they're often out-of-stock on my favorite Swedish candies. I also love their sour belts, particularly the mango one. The labels say where the candies come from, and I find them helpful and that they make the buying experience more interesting. I feel like a kid whenever I'm here, and I wish it were closer to me so I could visit more often! The 3 times I visited, the store was pretty empty with only 1-2 other people. I'm not sure why I have seen a number of negative reviews about the store owner. She is literally super nice! We even had a conversation about my wedding coming up and wedding dresses haha! It was my first time coming to Giddy after seeing Swedish candy blow up on TikTok for a couple months. I work in the excelsior district & decided to make the drive out to the Castro to finally get my hands on some pieces of Swedish candy. I came at 4ish on a Thursday with my sister. We walked in and were amazed at the candy selection. I almost screamed when I saw Bubs for the first time LOL! We spent 10 minutes in there looking at the huge selection and trying to figure out what we should try. The store owner talked to us and asked where we were coming from and said she was glad that she came to Giddy to try some Swedish candy. We got all of the different flavored bubs, sour bubs, and sour coke bottles. I love the concept of picking your own candy. Think of this spot as an elevated version of sweet factory that used to be in all of the malls before. It was such a fun experience! The minute we got into the car, we took bites of every single one and said "damn" because it did not disappoint!! It's such a cute little candy shop!!! The staff member at the counter was welcoming and helped me with my selections since I was a little overwhelmed with all the options. The only downside was finding a parking spot. Not the shop's fault, it's San Francisco. The parking situation isn't the best but parking a few blocks over was a nice walk and the surrounding area felt safe. Came here for the first time because a friend told me they sold swedish candy and I was excited to check the place out. I went inside, knowing out candy stores work, and grabbed a pair of tongs and a bag and started picking out candy. While picking out candy, the worker with medium blonde hair was extremely friendly to two Caucasian girls that were already in the store. She offered them samples and it sounded like she had a good conversation with them. The moment I went up to the register (mind you I am asian), I greet her by saying hello and placed the candy bag on the counter. She side eyes me, finishes her conversation with another worker, and then begrudgingly turns to me and says "hello, is that it?". I say "yes!", and she proceeds to weigh the bag and announces the price. I pay then leave and say thank you and she doesn't say a word as we leave. The whole experience felt very microaggressive. Store hours not accurate. I tried at least 3 times to visit the store and each time was closed this Tuesday, closed by 5:45 PM last week, not open until 7 pm as hours suggested. Store clerk is very short and not friendly. I had a party I was cater to, all excited to pick candy and she bluntly noted "everything you see is out, you can see it" vs making it a pleasurable experience for recommendations. I almost made a purchase but changed my mind, and walked out of the store. I was followed half a block by the store clerk, confronted as to why I did not make a purchase and that I should have informed her... This is not normal behavior, and she was very confrontational for no reason. I tried this place and the vibe was terrible from the beginning. The woman at the register maybe was having a bad day, maybe?, not sure. She was abrupt when I asked her questions about the candy and seemed to want me out before I even said anything. After buying two small bags of candy, I asked about some licorice that indicated it had an intense flavor. I asked if I could try one (keep in mind, she'd already prepped two bags of other candy that I was buying). She simply said, "we don't normally do that" with an intense abruptness, and then she did it reluctantly. And, it was just okay (stale), but she made such a big deal that I felt compelled to buy a small bag (which I then threw out). Then, when I saw they had chocolate, and asked about one, she just blurted out, "dark or milk?!", clearly irritated. Normally, in a situation with such a bad attitude, I'd just leave, but I believe in supporting small business, IF THE QUALITY IS GOOD, and can forgive a one time bad experience. But, I won't be patronizing them again, mostly because the quality was BELOW mediocre (lacks flavor and stale). That woman's crappy attitude just made it a solid, "no thanks." read more

I love that Giddy offers an array of speciality quality local and international chocolates, licorice, gummies and unique candies. Props to the owner that was present and knowledgeable of the inventory.
