A pretty random location for a cupcake spot, but I, on the whim of yelp, decided to give this place a try. RIDICULOUSLY good. The cake itself was delicious, perfectly moist with delicious chocolate chips inside. The frosting? Perfect amount of sweet without tasting artificial. It really had that homemade feel to it. This place is a problem. I mean, why does it have to be in my neighborhood?? Their cupcakes are always calling me. ALWAYS! Well, cupcakes can't talk but you know what i mean. My cousin and I stopped in to try and get some cupcakes for our uncle's birthday. We were greeted by Emily. She was sweet and had green eyes so bonus points. She was patient with us since we were super indecisive. There were so many options, like the banana Nutella . We got our cupcakes. We were given instructions. The people in front of us placed a large order and the woman at the counter disappeared. One of the cutest bakerys around. They always have selections of flavors. Recently went because we were short of cupcakes for a baby shower I was planning near by and they came through as always. Also they have a cool activity area that they offer. It's a baking section where children were having a baking parties. Yesterday the pricing was higher cupcakes were inconsistent some smaller some bigger, some with little to no icing some with a ton of icing. I've finally found my favorite cupcake store in NJ! My husband surprised me with Gigi's cupcakes when I was craving for some. I wasn't expecting much since the cupcakes here have been subpar. I merely wanted something sweet after burning too much brain cells. Well, he was on his way home from the airport and chances upon this! When I took the first bite, omg...! Cake was moist, frosting wasn't too sweet. A lot of stores like to over pipe their frosting or that it's crazy sweet that I would dump 50% of the frosting. CALLING all PEANUT BUTTER LOVERS !!!! So first and foremost I love GIGI'S. They always have a smile when you come in. The place is a little tiny hut but beautifully decorated. There's virtually no parking lot because I never park there and I never see any other cars parked there LOL so idk always park near by and walk up. I've had almost all of their cupcakes and the peanutbutter one with bananas and honey is my favorite. And that says a lot because I'm not a person who even likes peanutbutter. But all that cupcake is missing is jelly and you have a sandwich. Any time I'm in maple wood I make it my business to stop here. The cupcakes don't even make it in my house they can't survive the car , trust me they're that good. Normally I buy a bunch of the mini's and the cake pops so I don't feel bad for eating them all. They always have suggestions for you if you don't know what to get and they're reasonably priced. Everyone knows once you get in certain neighborhoods things tend to rise in cost. Chocolate with Chocolate cream frosting, vanilla cake on vanilla frosting and shredded coconut. The kids had the traditional vanilla and chocolate ones. I went for coconut and it was delicious! This little gem of a cupcake shop is hidden away on the corner of Springfield Avenue in Maplewood. Thye have mini and full size cupcakes. The cupcakes come in more than the usual boring flavors. The presentation is nice but taste is the test. By all objective standards this place rocks. They are super moist and the frosting is really fresh. Every bite was yummy. I got a box of 12 minis to bring home. Egg nog, sea salt caramel, shredded coconut, gingerbread, and smores were my selections. Service was speedy and friendly. Parking lot is small but adequate. I picked up an order today with a pickup time if 4pm. The address that was on the email I was sent was incorrect. I was then obviously late arriving to pick them up. I guess I was lucky, the owner had come back for some reason. Otherwise I would not have received my product I paid for ahead of time. She was rude and informed me they close at 4. My issue is why would a company have a pickup time at their closing time? That is the first complaint I have. Secondly, the communication should have been better. If that had been told to me, problem could have been avoided. Yet, I still would have been lost. That problem she refused to take responsibility for, saying she doesn't send the emails. My response to her was 'your name is at the top of the email, it's your responsibility.' My review unfortunately has nothing to do with the cupcakes, all about the lack of customer service and poor business practices. read more

I love this shop! Not only are the cupcakes divinely delicious but the owners and the staff are amazing! I love the cozy family feel of the shop. The owners always speak and are friendly (and not afraid to take your order or help you) whenever I am there. My son and nephew love coming in to get mini cupcakes; so much so that I ordered a custom design for my son's birthday.
