I had a dozen cupcakes delivered and they all arrived in perfect condition. My absolute favorite was their strawberry cupcake, but it was fun to try out a few other flavors too. This was my first time visiting Gigis cupcakes and I was so impressed by all the different varieties of cupcakes they had! It's a small shop packed with tons of different flavors of cupcakes. We decided on a pineapple cupcake, A apple cupcake, a double chocolate cupcake and a confetti cupcake. I will say the cake is moist and delicious but WAY too much icing on top. So we originally had Gigi's years ago when they were located on N. Dale Mabry. Didn't realize they moved locations -- thought they closed. My hubs found them again when looking for a place to get me goodies for my birthday. They are now located on S. Dale Mabry. He was able to order ahead for pickup and select the flavors. They even individually wrapped the cupcakes in their own cute green box!! For my birthday I chose the midnight chocolate which was outstanding. The cupcake is not overly sweet and the icing was fudge. Yum! We were on this side of town last week so decided to stop by for some goodies. I ordered the strawberry shortcake for myself, daughter got the midnight chocolate and hubs got the apple. The strawberry I was actually not a fan of. Icing was super sweet so I ended up scraping it off. And the cake wasn't as moist. My daughter's of course was amazing and I LOVED the apple!! Cute little cupcake shop in a South Tampa shopping plaza. Parking is usually not a problem. It's small but clean & nicely decorated. A good assortment of flavors offered every day & some are not your run-of-the-mill flavors. In this visit, we tried full-sized cupcakes of the Beach Bum (tropical cake with mango buttercream) & Midnight Magic (semi-sweet chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream & chocolate chips) and mini versions of Southern Sweet Tea (iced tea cake with lemon tea frosting) & Lemon Crumble (whipped-cream-filled lemon cake with cream cheese frosting & topped with crumbled lemon shortbread). The Beach Bum & Southern Sweet Tea were our favorites--not only unique but delicious! They were both also really soft/moist and fresh. The other two flavors weren't as fresh but I didn't hold it against the Lemon Crumble because it was still perfectly lemony & tasty. The Midnight Magic did not live up to its name. I love chocolate but the cupcake was too sweet and it's a cupcake you can get just about anywhere. All in all, a good sweet stop if you can score fresh cupcakes. read more

We ordered special cupcakes to commemorate a special event. From the Apple Cupcake, S'mores Cupcake to the Peanut butter, they simply were out of this world. The staff here takes their time making cupcakes that are heavenly! The detail that goes into their presentation stays intact when you order delivery. The flavors are top notch, the icing is almost fluffy in consistency, as opposed to the grocery store generic butterconcre... -er buttercream. Last and certainly not least, the cake is moist. It's like pulling them out of the oven, even though Gigi's Cupcakes probably had them ready-made from the night before. Either way, the freshness is there times 1000! Gigi's Cupcakes is a cute little cupcake shop in South Tampa. The cupcakes are consistently delicious and the employees are very friendly. Sure, they probably put too much sweet icing on top of the cupcakes, but it's their signature look (beautiful by the way) and it's delicious. If you want less icing, you can always take it off. Quite frankly, if you are concerned about sugar then you probably shouldn't be eating cupcakes to begin with. I like that they offer several "gluten friendly" options, which are also delish and will satisfy that persistent craving. He actually recommended to join the loyalty membership which is free. You get 1 point every $1 spent, and when you have 50 points, it equals to $5 for next purchase. You will get 25 points when you register your card online too! I bought Lemon Icebox, Strawberry Shortcake and White Chocolate Raspberry. I liked Lemon Icebox and White Chocolate Raspberry a lot. The Strawberry Shortcake was too sweet for me. Like others say, the frosting is waaaaaay too much. I think at the end I kinda got nausious and headache from all the sugar lol Also the cakes are not so moist...It is not that they are so dry either but it could have been definitely nice if they are a little more moist. Overall it was an okay experience for me. The cupcakes are not bad but definitely could use some improvements. They offer a variety of flavors including gluten free options, minis, and cheesecake cupcakes. The minis are a great deal at $15 for a dozen. I would definitely get these over a grocery store or other boutique bakeries at that price point. I first had Gigi's at their Sarasota store, at a party, and most recently at this location. Each time consistent in taste and appearance. These are the cupcakes to get for an impressive display. The cake flavors were good, a bit dense. The icing on all the cupcakes were not overly sweet and whipped to a nice fluffy consistency. The icing to cake ratio is 1:1, so use a fork and you'll enjoy icing with every bite. You can always eat less of it if it's too much for you. Of the flavors I've tried, their classic vanilla (wedding cake) and midnight chocolate were my favorites. read more

High-quality naked goods have been one of the hardest things for me to find since I developed a gluten sensitivity, and this place really delivers on that front. I actually like their GF cupcakes better than their regular ones (they're lighter and more spongey)! The frosting has a great texture, and I particularly love the refreshing/not-too-sweet flavor in their strawberry frosting. Not only are the cupcakes delicious, but they are also beautiful. I tried custom-decorated ones at a bachelorette party, complete with glitter and small icing flowers (in photo). I've also had these at many of my family's and my own birthday celebrations.
