Manheim's little gem! Awesome outdoor area for kids to play! Great mini Golf Course. Tons of shade outside. Both indoor and outdoor seating. The food is very good! The grilled cheeseburger was good, but did not come with any sides. BLT was tasty! Fresh cut fries are always great here. We didn't get it this time, but get the roasted chicken here! It's fantastic! The ice cream is awesome. Most places around this area just use hershey's ice cream. They use one of the best! Kreider's ice cream is a staple in Manheim. Recommend trying one of their sundaes or the cow palace ice cream! The customer service here is always TOP NOTCH! read more

In a world of fast food and chain restaurants I glad places like The Shack still exist. The menu gives all types of hometown feels, burgers, fries, shakes, and broasted chicken. The staff is sweet and upbeat and even though it's counter service, the staff checked on us a few times. They have a playground so the smaller guest can play while they eat. As for the food, it's classic taste give you State Fair vibes without the sticker shock . I went with the staff recommendation of The Bang Bang Burger. Classic burger topped with cheddar, fried onion rings, and chipotle on sourdough toast. I couldn't even finish it but I had to make room for dessert. The milkshakes are dangerously good and I loved the speciality versions. Don't worry you can work the calories off with mini golf after. There was a weekend, clearly this is a local favorite rush but the staff kept the line moving and there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Sidebar it's hard to find small town gems and not worry about the atmosphere, I'm happy to report it was welcoming and the crowd was diverse. If you're in the area and need a place to stop relax and enjoy some good eats, put The Shack on the top of your list. read more

I noticed this place as we were driving, and since we were hungry, we decided to stop. They have a varied menu, and we both got cheeseburgers and split some fries. The cheeseburgers were excellent with fresh full of flavor tomatoes and crispy lettuce. This ain't no McDonalds cheeseburger! The fries were good, although I like my a little more crispy. We were full so we didn't try the ice cream. There's seating both inside and outside. Very clean, even the bathrooms. We thought we would have to go up to the counter to get our food, but as soon as they called our number, one of the staff was walking toward our table with our food. (We had waved to her when we saw her with our tray of food.) The staff was friendly and even checked on us. There's a mini golf area that looks like fun. There's also a small playground and an old-fashioned merry-go-round that was fun to ride on. read more

Been here twice now during covid and each time had a good experience. I've always been curious as to what the Shack actually was, driving past it for many years along route 72. It sits down in a valley so the first time there will be confusion as to how to actually get there. Turn at the gas station and make an immediate left and it's on the left. While they do offer miniature golf both of my visits were for lunch with friends. One visit was while outside only dining was allowed the second when social distancing inside was acceptable. Both times I sat outside on their large, sunny deck which overlooks a creek and their lash grounds. The space inside and out is clean with all employees wearing masks with the exception of the owner during our first visit. This time she wore a face shield. There's disinfectant nearby and they do clean the tables between customers. The menu is pretty much your typical subs, salads, burgers, and wraps, with a variety of sundae and ice cream options. In my opinion the food prices are good but the ice cream novelties seem a little high. I've had two of their wraps thus far, both delicious, but the star is their fries. Thrashers fries in Ocean City ain't got nothing on Shack fries! Hubby got a burger to go and they even toasted the bun. The only miss was my friends taco salad made with beans instead of meat, she said it would have been much better with some ground beef. Service has been friendly and the owner comes to your table and greets you each time. Overall just sitting on their deck is very enjoyable and quiet considering they're right on a major road. I will dine here again, probably multiple times outdoors at least. read more

We had a good time at this hidden gem. Chose it from YELP comments. We wanted something fun to do with our Granddaughter. Had lunch-lots to choose from. Food was delicious, hot, fresh, and yes toasted buns. There is indoor and out door seating. We enjoyed sitting outside-the area is shaded. After lunch, played round of mini golf. Course is shade and sun-take bottle of water along. Beautiful landscaping. Took us about an hour;we didn't rush and course is challenging. Customer service was great. Young lady at the register greeted us with a smile, attentive and checked on us. Overall, we had a fun afternoon and Definitely recommend. read more

We had our daughters 13th birthday party here, it was so wonderful!!! The food and ice cream were great:) and we enjoyed eating outside on the relaxing deck. This was our first trip to this location. Nice place to sit outside with family, have a good meal, and socially distance safely. The burgers were a nice size and the ice cream was more than we could eat (bonus...a dessert for the next day) The staff wore masks but didn't enforce the mandate when people came into the facility to order without masks. It was not a busy time of the day so we were able to keep our distance. We will definitely return! read more

Really!!! $30.00 for a family of 4 to golf at one of the most run down mini gold we have seen around....we didn't bother to eat or stay for the band because we were very disappointed in the upkeep or lack there of! Wasn't sure about this place when we first pulled in but they serve fresh Krieder Farms ice cream and their golf course looked good on the website. We were pleasantly surprised by the depth of their menu for lunch and the inside of the restaurant was clean and tidy. Outside, there was a huge deck with a couple of trees growing through it that offered shade and ambience. I ordered a steak and cheese melt and my wife ordered a chicken melt. The sandwiches came out piping hot and the fries we ordered as a side item looked to be fresh cut. I could have wished for them to be a little crispier but they were tasty nonetheless. Our server was friendly, personable and attentive. The owner stopped at our table and was also very nice. Having worked in the food service industry myself, I always like to meet the people who run these restaurants and to share with them what a good job they are doing. We talked a bit about the restaurant and the land on which it sits and by the end of the visit I felt like both the server and the owner were friends. The mini golf was fantastic! By far one of the prettiest courses and one of the most challenging courses we've ever played. There are lots of large trees offering shade and what looks to be natural conservational space throughout. We came back later in the day for ice cream and again the service was impeccable. The same server we had for lunch made the humongous ice cream sundae which I was allowed to customize as I wished. She was so impressed with her own work that she took pictures of it! LOL. I visit the Shack every time I am in the area during the season. The new owners are so wonderful and it's very apparently the owner loves taking care of her customers. Eating here was a very positive experience for for me and my family. The place is clean, and the service was super-friendly. I had the 'broasted' chicken, which is a 4-piece fried chicken basket with fried potato wedges and slaw. It was all delicious! The chicken was tender and the breading was crispy and flavorful. I loved the potatoes, but couldn't eat all of them because I needed room for ice cream. My wife had the Triple Grilled cheese, which she said was great, and kids had a cheeseburger and chicken fingers, which they both ate all of, but could not finish the mountain of fries that came with them. Then we all had single-scoop sundaes for dessert, which were plenty big and delicious. I finished mine even though I had planned not to (didn't think I could fit it). Hot fudge topping on mine was hot like it should be, and caramel topping on my wife's sundae was so generous. Overall, a wonderful dining experience. I was at the shack tonight for dinner and fun. The food was adequate but when I went to have some fun with some golf I was very disappointed when I learned the course was not able to accommodate my wheelchair. When I found that out the only thing I could do was sit and watch my family and friends have fun. Then the time came when I had to use the restroom, and there I was further disappointed because they did not have anything to help assist me. After I saw that I left the restroom because i was unable to use the bathroom, so I went over to the neighboring gas station where I was able to use the restroom. read more

Stopped in today after a busy day of work with one thing on my mind? Hunger! I ordered their Thursday special Big Mac salad and a diet Pepsi. It was just like having a Big Mac sandwich except using a fork off of a plate. I thought it was delicious with adding some Thousand Island dressing along with some ketchup to give it some flavor. I had gotten quick, precise, respectable service, and will certainly return to this restaurant in the near future.
