Not only is the food great but the aesthetic is impeccable. So chic, really nicely decorated interior without being stuffy or pretentious. Excellent service. Andy was our server and she was lovely. Took the time to explain the menu since it was our first visit. Attentive without being overbearing, friendly without feeling forced. Would recommend gin gins for an elevated dining experience in Grand Rapids. We celebrated our anniversary and were greeted with a personalized card. Relaxing, dimly lit upscale ambiance. Excellent service which went above and beyond for us. The cocktails were delicious and well crafted - we got the clover club and a carajillo type drink that I can't remember the name or see on the online cocktail menu. Our appetizers were my favorite part of the meal - crab cakes and wagyu meatballs, both were absolutely delicious and honestly very filling. Where I drop a star is I was very disappointed on the flavor profile for my Mediterranean Sea Bass entree. Fish, polenta and tomatoes being some of my absolute favorites - it didn't taste like I was eating anything when I took a bite of the fish and polenta. The most flavor was in the tomatoes. I usually love polenta in my dishes. That was a huge disappointment. My husband's French dip sandwich and fries were enjoyable and the presentation was nice. First impression was it was pretty loud where we sat and it seemed a little pricey for the menu/area. For reference we Just moved here from Indianapolis( $45 12oz flat iron steak with soup or salad and potato at St. Elmo's vs $39 for 8oz sirloin with small side of fries here). We found this place simply because it was one of the FEW restaurants open after 10pm (it closes at 11pm). What a find! The food was amazing and many of the items were created by scratch in house. The level of care in the preparation of each dish was apparent even down to my child's humble buttered noodles. The French prime dip is stuffed with tender shaved rib eye, wagyu meatballs were bursting with flavor, shrimp scampi, burger were great. My wife and I had date night at Gin Gin's after a terrible experience at a different steak house. This place did not disappoint! The food was prepared flawlessly. The service was amazing, and our server Natalie was knowledgeable and confident in the kitchen's ability. We started with the scallops that were seared well (would prefer a sear on both sides) but good size and high quality. We shared the wagyu ribeye steak (medium) and it was cooked to perfection. Service was stellar. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make our night special. Food is some of the best we've had in a long time. We started with the meatballs, which are honestly the best meatballs I've ever had in my entire life. My husband and I shared the filet mignon, which was cooked exactly to order. I had a side of the mushrooms, which I could have eaten all day if I hadn't already been so full! My husband got the loaded baked potato, which left us wanting to figure out how we could possibly do this at home because it was so phenomenal. And I forgot the drinks! We went there as two couples for a Tuesday dinner. This was their fourth day since opening and everything ran smoothly, from the hostess, our waiter, folks checking in is, etc. the wagyu meatballs were excellent and I really liked my swordfish entree. Everyone else enjoyed their choices: potato gnocchi, spaghetti, and the filet. Also, the focaccia bread was delicious. I also really liked the bathrooms, just saying. They are not gender specific and I think maybe 4 of them lining the back hallway. Drinks were good, though I wasn't a huge fan of the small pieces of ice for my mojito, I'd have preferred larger cubes. This is owned by the same folks of Butcher's Union and I think will be similarly popular. Excellent outdoor patio space that will have great shade during those hot summer evenings coming up. I can also see myself enjoying the long bar that seemed to have plenty of seating for when I maybe just want an appetizer and drink with a friend. We were able to make reservations for a group of 6 on a Wednesday. Nice to have the option to make online reservations. We had great service and an all around wonderful experience. At the dimly lit bar Mitch made a perfectly dirty gin martini & a well balanced old fashion that rivals any in the city. The piece de resistance was an off-menu cocktail (by request I might add) that should be a signature drink on the menu. I've been waiting 2+ years for this restaurant to open. We used to live a block down the street but had to move south for work. To our surprise it was Finally open and finished during our trip back in GR. It's beautiful and in a great location. We wanted to try so many things but ended up with the salmon ceviche, steaks, drinks, potato gnocchi, and cheesecake. The gnocchi and cheesecake were excellent. Honestly some of the best dessert we've had in awhile. We Loved their focus to return back for the classic cocktails. Seriously, they have a true Penicillin and it was tastefully prepared! Gin Gin's is the place! A hip, chic place for great food, atmosphere and cocktails, no wonder they had a 2.5 hour wait! We ended up sitting at the smaller bar where My man MITCH greeted us as the bar tender and server of food. Mitch had the perfect cadence of giving suggestions as well as participating banter, but not over the top at all... He helped make a perfect evening of fun. Then there was the food! We randomly felt like their house made pasta sounded great, so Mitch led us to the Spaghetti with vodka sauce, and whippped burrata. Was delicate and flavorful, but not overpowering. We used that as our "appetizer". After that we were more full but still wanted to order something as an entree so we went with the double waygu burger with a side of the buttery mashed potatoes. To try some more food we also added two scallops which were cooked perfectly. The burger was wonderful as were the mashed potatoes. Another highlight was Mitch's cocktails! I'm a bourbon guy so normally I go with an Old Fashioned, but he suggested the Paper Plane which was the perfect drink to kick the evening off. My wife had some wine which she greatly enjoyed from a nice selection of fine wines. Gin Gin's, though only being opened for a month or so, is sure to be a GR hit for decades to come based on our 1st experience. I absolutely love this place. It's slightly tucked away off of Bridge Street. My wife knew about it, but I didn't. That was a year and a half ago. Now it is a definite go to. It's great to meet friends, great to have a business dinner. The food is excellent and the menu is fantastic. U haven't tried a food dish I didn't love. The atmosphere is perfect in the winter and even better in the summer. Not too loud, but just right. And the servers know the menu. This place is awesome. I went in for an early dinner at 4:15 for a friend's birthday, and we were able to grab a seat on the patio. Even at that time, the restaurant was pretty busy, but only to the point where I could feel some good energy in the atmosphere. I went with 2 other people, and we ordered the wagyu meatballs for an appetizer. Forget all the meatballs from the past--these were by far the best meatballs I've ever had. I'm not usually a person who likes them, but they were the melt-in-your-mouth kind of meatballs. The Foccacia was also perfectly crispy, with pockets of roasted garlic. Next up, we got the Spaghetti with vodka sauce and burrata. I usually prefer short pastas over noodles, but the spaghetti was again, so good. The noodles were perfectly al dente, and the vodka sauce was a perfectly bright, tomato vodka sauce. Last but not least, the swordfish was my absolute favorite of the evening! The corn risotto was creamy, but not to the point where I could only take a few bites. The crunchy toppings and pesto were a perfect match to balance out the creaminess, and the fish was one of the best I've had in GR. I prefer fish over meat, and I was so happy to find a place where they do their fish right. It was also my friend's birthday that day, and they were super kind to offer us a FREE cherry birthday sundae, with a birthday candle! The ice cream had whipped cream, peanut brittle, and a chocolate drizzle, and it was a perfect way to end the meal. Overall, I had a great experience at Gin Gin's and would definitely visit again! The oysters are one of the best in Grand Rapids. The steak was perfectly cooked and the truffle butter was a great flavor addition.
