We came across this fabulous restaurant while visiting the area for the holidays. The food was amazing, the ambience was perfect, and the entire staff was friendly and helpful! Gina's Pizza is a small family owned Italian chain restaurant. This specific location is in Costa Mesa. Although the customer service is amazing, I didn't have the best experience in regards to the overall food quality. I ordered the big slice of pepperoni pizza and my wife ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce and pasta salad combos. This was a lunch special that they had posted. I've come to several locations of Gina's and keep coming back every once in a while because they do have good customer service and they typically have a decent size area to dine and it is convenient when thinking of places to go with friends. It's priced a little on the higher side. For the two lunch combos it costed me about $27. It's reasonable for the areas they serve though. Overall, it's not my favorite Italian restaurant, but there are some good things about this place that keeps me coming back. You should definitely try the place out for yourself and see if it's a good fit for you. read more

Gina's Costa Mesa is conveniently located down the street (approximately 0.4 miles) from the O.C. Fairgrounds on Harbor Blvd. This shop has somewhat of a rustic Italian theme inside, but it's counter service so don't expect a guy to come out with an accordion singing romantic songs in Italian. The pizza is great and the signature appetizer here are the balls so get those. The pizza that blew me away was the Bianca on a cauliflower crust! Tasted amazing and I'd highly recommend this pizza over the other specialty pizzas. read more

We have ordered from here roughly 10 times and about 6-7 of those times the food was great. We like to order garlic on our pizzas, and anyone who knows how to cook garlic knows the #1 rule is don't burn it. Well this was the 3rd+ time we got very burnt garlic on our pizza. It was clear it was burnt before the pizza was put in the oven bc it was under the cheese and yet still burnt, so it was burnt in the roasting process before becoming a topping. At this point being a reoccurring offense, I decided to call them (we had done take out and didn't notice until home). This review is mainly due to the incredibly rude guy on the phone who decided to tell me "well next time when you order your pizza, just don't, and order it from somewhere else." ...Excuse me?! I thought he was going to suggest some actual advice for future ordering success. He also added that he was "not going to tell the cook how to do his job". Not burning food IS the cook's job, is it not? For the record I was very friendly going into this and had already told him we would like to keep eating there as we do like the pizza and Cesar salad but just wanted them to be aware of the mistake and how I/we could go about avoiding this in the future. This is a great place for pizza! Service is nice, you place your order, pay and they bring it out about 15 minutes later or you can call it in ahead of time. The pizza is fantastic, great dough, plenty of toppings, good quality ingredients. Gina's offers great food at decent prices. I love their minestrone soup and their cold pasta salad. Their pizzas are amazing and they let you pick topping for a Slice of pizza for the big slices. They also offer the best cauliflower crust pizza I've ever had. The crust taste like real pizza crust (thin crust). The staff is helpful and they have ample seating, a soda machine/Black & green tea (made in house by the batch). There is also a good selection of beer and other food items. When we got back to work we noticed there was a mix-up on the salads, so I called and they cheerfully sent out a new salad with the delivery person. Last time we order from Gina's. Ordered a large order at 5:30pm, said it would show up by 6:30pm. At 6:45 I called to see what's up and was on hold for 5 minutes. Hung up and called again and they said they were very busy, no worries, but they said the pizza was on the way. At 7:15 I called again and some kid who had never had to talk to an angry customer clearly never apologized for the delay and said they never got the order but charged the card. I then asked to speak to a manager Deja J, who also likely hasn't been working as a manager for longer than a night, tried to educate me on how busy they were and how they only had 4 people working. She was really rude and just hung up on me with incredible in professionalism. Tonight was a busy night for them and I understand that but turn off your delivery app business and focus on the local customers who come here very often and pay the above average priced pizzas. They have yummy lunch specials! I ordered a single sausage slice with a medium drink and my boyfriend ordered 2 sausage slices with a drink as well. The price came out to really reasonable considering the huge slices of pizza they offer you. The pizza itself was amazing, the seasonings was great and the sausage was fresh. See below on why I gave this place such a low rating. AMBIENCE: Cozy feeling. Average Italian decors. Small but plenty of seating inside and few outside. (+2 an ok place) SERVICE: Not impressed. The guy forgot to give me my student discount after I handed him my student ID card. Therefore, he charged my credit card 2x without even saying sorry or giving me a proof that the first swipe will cancel my card. It's actually a practice to give someone a cancelled receipt if you ring up someone twice. (-1 discount fail, -1 no apologies, -1 no receipt showing cancellation of first credit card charge) FOOD: Again, I did NOT order any pizza. We only ordered their spaghetti dinner and chicken wings. It was overpriced as the spaghetti tasted near like Ragu or canned spaghetti while the chicken wings appeared to be microwaved. You can tell if something has been sitting out for a while when you lift one side and underneath is a saggy skin of chicken. I used to come here all the time. I admit it's been awhile but I was not expecting so much to be different. The prices/portions have drastically changed. I paid $6.99 for a house salad and it's super small and half the lettuce is wilted. $6.99 for a cereal bowl size salad with some red onions on it is very very overpriced. I was shocked when this salad came to my table. Also unhappy to see wilted lettuce in the salad. While the slice of pizza is large, it's $2.99 a slice during happy hour and an upcharge for toppings. My 1 slice of pizza with 2 toppings ended up being $5. I understand inflation but this is way too much money for the size and quality of what they are serving. read more
