This place was very yummy! Only one vegan dinner option but that's ok because it was delicious! The vegan curry was not too heavy, great taste. I wish the veggies would've been a little bit bigger and more of them ... also could've used a little bit more rice for how much curry there was. So happy they're still operating during COVID. This place was a ghost town, so we had the restaurant to ourselves. All staff was taking precautions (wearing a mask, practicing social distancing...ect) We came here for brunch and the menu did not disappoint! I decided to get the ahi tuna tower (which is an appetizer) as my entree and it was great. The wasabi cream wasn't too spicy and the tuna was served close to room temperature, how I like it. The small chunks of avocado and pineapple complimented the tuna well. My husband got the "hot mess" entree and said it was excellent as well. They have a good local draft list, great cocktails to choose from, and something on the brunch menu for everyone. It ranged from classic eggs Benedict, to vegan/vegetarian curries, to chicken and waffles. I thought it was also fairly priced. We will be back! read more

I want to relive this meal over and over again! I suggest calling ahead for reservations on weekends. We came late so did not have to worry about this, but I imagine that they fill up quickly. The drink menu was extensive and we tried quite a few cocktails. They were interesting and unique with amazing flavor. As an appetizer we tried the sweet and spicy crispy pork egg rolls which were awesome. I loved the dipping sauce which was loaded with fresh delicious cilantro! Our entrees were killer! My husband and I shared the duck breast and pepper crusted new york sirloin. They were equally delicious. I would come back and get the same thing again, we were very happy with our meals. Ginger never fails to disappoint. My most recent favorites are the chicken lettuce cup appetizer, sesame-ginger Caesar, mango teriyaki tofu and mee krob. While the chicken appetizer is small, it satisfies any craving with well seasoned ground chicken and a delicious curry sauce. It's low carb as well with lettuce cups instead of a starch-y wrap! The dressing on the Caesar is what makes this rather boring salad full of flavor with a unique twist. I love the mango teriyaki sauce, it is fantastic! My only complaint is there were hardly any vegetables. It was mostly noodles, which were tasty but overwhelmed the plate. I love the mee krob because it has pad Thai noodles, a variety of meat and a wonderful sauce. It's a dish that satisfies any taste. The honey BBQ ribs were a little disappointing, while the flavors on their own were fantastic, it was overwhelming with all of them put together. The beans had way too much garlic and oil on them as well. One thing that bothers me about Ginger is they do not give you many vegetables. If there are vegetables they're usually finely sliced and not abundant. I wish they would give me some more veggies and less carbs! Service is always attentive and friendly. read more

Our last day, and final meal in Alaska did not disappoint! It was also easy to book, as they have reservations available through yelp and open table. Great selection of draft beers (Stella on draft was a huge plus!), tasty cocktails, and wide ranging wine options. Our server was Bri (sounds just like the cheese) and she was an absolute sweetheart!! She made us feel so welcomed and right at home from the time she walked up. I think we probably had a 10 minute discussion alone on how she ended up in Anchorage. Additionally, not only did she provide exemplary service, but she also gave us some incredible recommendations. We started with the frites and delicious chicken skewers. Good flavor from the chicken and we LOVED the wasabi mayo sauce. Incredibly tasty and had us wanting more! For dinner, we split the scallops mac & cheese, chicken and lettuce hand wrap, and asked if there was vegetarian fried rice the chefs could prepare. And oh, did they prepare it alright! Not only were they super accommodating, but the dish was so tasty and parts of the dish were so crispy, just how I like it! It was packed full of veggies & goat cheese. The goat cheese was a little too sour, so I ended up scrapping part of it off. I also had their homemade ginger ale! That had an interesting taste to it! I personally didn't care much for it, but someone who loves the taste of ginger would surely find it tasty. They used real ginger with soda water. Didn't like the taste, but it was good for me so I drank it all. What I like most about this place is the upscale lounge atmosphere. It's really calm. Though, the was a table next to ours that was rowdy, but that's not the restaurants fault. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I had something I needed to address with them and they were super attentive and made sure it was taken care of. Tip: Try their Mexican Hot Chocolate alcoholic beverage. While in Anchorage for a business trip, I got a frantic message from a fellow yelper by the name of CYNTHIA L, who stated that Ginger would be an awesome place to visit. I am waiving my fist right now and swearing up and down. Just joking, Ginger worked out well for me as it is only a few blocks away from the hotel and for a town like Anchorage, a formal Asian fusion place actually was a good change of pace. An associate and I decided on ordering a number of different dishes: Pommes Frites: check, can't be hard to get these wrong and they didn't! Spicy Tuna Tower: so-so tuna bits with three thin fried wafer breads. Fried Pork Purses: ultra crunchy on the outside but not hot enough on the inside. Chicken and Lettuce hand wraps: light with a diluted yellow curry sauce. works well for an appetizer Soup of the day: Smoked, spicy corn soup - my favorite part of the dinner. Beef and Brocolli (with a side of Alaskan scallops): Size of scallops, unimpressive but cooked right. Beef and Brocolli overall had a decent taste and cooked perfect however, we didn't care too much for the sauce they used. Dessert: Green tea creme' brulee' - generous portion size and nice change up from the boring same ol' regular creme' brulee'. Service guy did a fabulous job and even apologized for the loud 15 ppl party table next to us and offered us a dessert for troubles. Tipped him accordingly. I'm gonna be honest with y'all. Initially. I was not very impressed with Ginger. It was a long summer day in Anchorage and I was in an odd-kind-of hangry funk at an oddly bright time of day. I stumbled in here and got a happy hour item from the bar. It was OK, but it didn't really wow me. It also didn't really fill me. I'm not the type of person to make rash judgments though. I like to at least give places a second shot before I immortalize them with a star-rating. (NOTE: you CAN re-rate a place, and the NEW rating will obliterate the OLD rating.) Anyway. So glad I gave this place a second chance. On the complete opposite side of the spectrum: I came here for brunch, on a Sunday, in the winter. Not a lot of people in here. The bartender was incredibly friendly and I just loved the general warm, friendly vibe on a chilly Sunday morning. (OK, OK, it was the afternoon by the time I rolled in here, you got me) I got the "hot mess" which is, more-or-less, a "breakfast bowl". Portions were substantial and the flavors were terrific (spicy sausage, cheese, eggs, spicy sauce, etc). The biscuit (get the biscuit for your side, btw, skip the toast!) was house-made according to friendly bartender, and you could definitely tell! I asked for some hot sauce *SIDEBAR: at this point most places in Anchorage usually say something like "Is Tabasco OK?" in a timid, "sorry"-tinged voice ENDSIDEBAR* and the bartender brought me out some HOUSE-MADE hot sauce. It was VERY HOT (just how I like it!) and very flavorful. It was kind of like Sriracha, but without overrated internet-star-status and MUCH MUCH more heat. I would come here again just to get some of DAT SAUCE, that's how much I enjoyed it. I also drank a ton of coffee, and they weren't afraid to keep giving me more. Second visit. What a big disappointment at Ginger. Repeat customer, looking forward to returning. We had a reservation, but decided to sit at the open/empty bar. The restaurant wasn't that busy, so we didn't expect the the service issues we encountered. Drink menu is impressive, ordered a couple of drinks. Bartender could barley open his mouth, crack a smile, or engage in any conversation. I ordered steak, it was the worst cut of meat, not one I'd expect from Ginger, with a big line of fat going all the way thru the meat. Totally inedible. Then the bill is being presented without asking if we wanted anything else or dessert. They did make it right in taking the steak off the check, but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. We will gladly take our money elsewhere on a future visit to Anchorage. Plenty of other good places to eat. read more

I've been for both brunch and dinner and always enjoyed myself and my food. It's a great place for a date or for gathering with friends. The variety on the menu and the variations of the dishes are pleasant. One of the things I love most is their presentation of dishes, they're very thoughtful and pretty. Another thing this place is great for is drinks. I can sit and throw back cocktail after cocktail, they're all great. The portions aren't skimpy, the quality is good, the staff is friendly. Okay so maybe it's my vacation brain or maybe it's Alaska but the food and drinks in this place are amazing!! The bartender made a mezcal margarita for me and a manhattan for my husband which were on point! Love the wide well organized bar area with all the cocktail related books. The chipotle coconut chicken skewers were delicious and we literally inhaled them. The oyster shooters in sake broth were delicious as well. For entrees we had scallops Mac n cheese and the Alaskan mango teriyaki tofu. Scallops were cooked perfectly and lay on a bed of creamy Mac n cheese with a crunchy top. My Indian genes occasionally scream out for hot sauce, as they did, on this occasion and I was provided with some house-made hot sauce. It was so good that I asked for the recipe ( the server said it was secret :( ) . I would have bought a bottle, if they were retailing that. The mango tofu was very flavorful and overall we had a wonderful meal. I had a martini with a twist ( everyone around me seemed to be having one and I had fomo). It was ridiculously good.
