We had a family lunch here on a recent trip to Marble Falls. When my parents, the BF, and I eat out together it's always a little dicey because we all have such different palettes. My mom doesn't like spicy food, I like spicy food, the BF LOVES spicy food, and my dad is somewhere in between. Still, we all like Thai food so we decided to give this place a shot and I'm glad we did. It's a real gem for a small town like Marble Falls to have. We were greeted at the door by the older man who works there, and when I say "greeted at the door" I mean he opened the door while we were walking up to it, still several feet away, and welcomed us in. We were seated immediately and they took our drink orders promptly. The lunch menu is a little limited, but what it lacks in quantity of items it makes up for in quality. They have the usual Thai staples like Pad Thai as well as other dishes and a curry of the day at the bottom of the menu. My mom and I both ordered the Massaman curry, Dad ordered the Panang curry (even though it wasn't the curry of the day, they were happy to oblige), and the BF got the Pad Kee Mao, extra spicy. The appetizer bar comes with entrees, and they had a selection of soup (miso and sweet and sour), sushi (crab rolls and California rolls), egg rolls, salad, rice pudding, and watermelon. I had an egg roll, two pieces of California roll, and some salad with ginger dressing. It was all very good and tasted fresh. One Yelper had mentioned cream cheese in the egg rolls, but the egg roll I had was straight up veggie, so maybe they changed that? Our entrees came out a short time later and we were all very pleased. My mom and I enjoyed the Massaman curry immensely, though there was something funky going on with the carrots in it. They had a pithy, woody center that was most disconcerting, but we just ate around them and otherwise thoroughly enjoyed the dish. It was sweet, a little spicy, and very flavorful. Dad liked his Panang curry a lot as well. I had a bite of it and it was spicier and more savory than the Massaman curry but still very flavorful. The BF thoroughly enjoyed his Pad Kee Mao but lamented that it was not spicy enough for him. We've encountered this problem at other restaurants where people are concerned that this pale Irish lad cannot possibly mean that he wants the food as hot as they serve it in Thailand/India/Ethiopia/etc., but he really does mean it. If he's not sweating by the end of the meal, he's not completely satisfied. Still, it was good food. Once we were done eating, my mom got up to use the facilities and when she came back to the table she was holding a small cup of rice pudding. Apparently one of the ladies that works there had insisted that she try some when she walked by the appetizer bar. It was not her cup of tea because it wasn't sweet enough, but I thought it was pretty good, and it was PURPLE to boot. I suspect they might have put some taro in it, but I didn't have the presence of mind to ask. Altogether, we had a very enjoyable lunch here and would recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in the Marble Falls area. Food here was marginal. The workers are decent and pretty attentive. Look and feel of the place is old, and could be updated and renovated. Menu is limited, there's only 2 pages. Once we got the food, aside from the curry, everything looks like it was just prepackaged food. Something you can buy from Costco and can beat up in your own house. Therefore, the price of the food should have been half. They're Chang because the food is previously frozen, and obviously it comes out of this bag but they barely put any broccoli and "sesame" chicken. We could tell the food was previously frozen. Overall, I would recommend this place if you like to eat Asian food that's previously frozen that you can buy on your own from Costco, but are too lazy to cook yourself. Also, our entire groups stomach has been sore about 24 hours later, taking frequent trips to the bathroom, mucousy poo, and something isn't right after eating this fake Thai food. While me miss the old Cafe 909 we're glad Ginger & Spice was the replacement. We are regulars and they have good and average nights but never bad. The service is good but strange in that waiters don't seem to have assigned tables. All of them drift by to duplicate efforts. It's a little annoying after awhile. The food ranges from average to really good. Same for the sushi. If the restaurant was in Austin you'd be forced to give it 3 stars due to the inconsistency but given that Marble Falls has limited selections we have to give it two thumbs up. read more

I've been fortunate to eat at Sri Pra Prai in Queens NYC and Little Serow in D.C. and can honestly say this is one of the best Thai meals I've had in the United States. Food was terrible, cheese for salad was spoiled, we ordered flat noodle with garlic sauce it didn't even have any flavor at all and wasn't even hot temp.and noodles were not even cooked properly. My husband and I received the Absolute WORST Service EVER! The person waiting on us was rude from the moment we were seated. He brought our drinks holding his had over the tops of the glass. This is disgusting and unsanitary. He threw our straws on the table. I don't know why we were singled out for this treatment. The next couple (and baby) that came in were treated completely differently. The waiter was quite affable and even cooed at the baby. He was conversational with the couple whereas he cut me off when I simply tried to order my drink. Had this waiter treated everyone this way, I would have chalked it up to him having a bad day. My husband asked for the bill so that we could go somewhere else. When the waiter brought his change, he again threw it on the table. He was completely unconcerned. We had been to this restaurant several times in the past and received great service. We had even brought friends and recommended it in the past. We had never seen this person on previous trips. Sadly, I think that he was the owner. Needless to say, we will not return. No one needs to pay to be treated poorly! read more

What a difference a year makes! In town on business again, and thought I'd head back to this little place. I thought I remembered it being pretty good. Not today! The appetizer bar was basically bare unless you wanted greasy tempura vegetables. When anything else showed up, you had to sprint to get anything and the roll I was able to taste was, well...tasteless. I ordered a sumo roll that really fell short on substance and taste. Pleasantly surprised with Ginger and Spice. The menu is extensive, the food delicious and the atmosphere nice. Six of us dined family style on 3 appetizers and 6 entrees and everything was good. Ginger and Spice pushed closer to 4.5 stars and missed 5 due to a few minor details. The edamame was over-steamed, making it a little mushier than I would have liked. The portions, while adequate were smaller than expected and small commensurate to the cost. Service was good but not great. All that said, I would go back in a heartbeat the next time I crave Thai food. read more

My husband and I met friends here, so party of six. We ate family-style and got to experience two apps and five main courses...everything was delicious. The service was great, and the food was some of the best Thai food we've had in a while (ever since our favorite Thai plane in Austin closed). Compared to most other Asian restaurants, the portions were a little small, especially on the vegetable platter. We would definitely go back. When you are seated you are given a decrepit menu. A piece of the plastic literally fell off in my husband's hands (same goes for the receipt holder). That being said the curry was excellent ($12.99) and the pad thai was decent. The atmosphere is pretty cool too. Wait staff was efficient but not a happy lot. read more

Don't know what these other Yelpin reviewer folks are smokin, but this is good food! We have had plenty of good Thai in big cities and this stuff was on par with them all. Excellent food! I even went with my Asian friend and she agreed it was top notch! We liked: chicken pad thai, larb, chicken glass noodle soup. We weren't too happy with the satay (definitely had better). The best sushi I have had in a long time! It's a small restaurant and sometime the wait is a big long, but it's really worth it. Everything is fresh and seasoned perfectly. The staff is always friendly and we have never had bad food. When they are really busy prepare to wait. Hoped for something decent in the area while staying at HSB Resort... Should have gone to Chili's (that's almost as bad a joke as it sounds... if it were a joke). Saturday night at 630, 80% full, 1 waiter, 1 busboy/food runner... service was as you might expect; dinner for 2 took near on 2 hours.... That included forgetting our drinks after asking twice and the apps that we were told were coming. Food itself was bland, flavors were reflective of someone rushing and vastly understaffed. We are Marble Falls residents and have been to Ginger and Spice three times. The food is unbelievable. It's a tad bit pricier than China Kitchen about 3 minutes away, but the food is much better. I have had the crystal noodle soup (with chicken) which is SO flavorful. Every time I get the cheese rolls (egg rolls stuffed with cream cheese, onions and mushrooms - 4 for $5) dipped in the heavenly cilantro-mayo sauce. You really can't beat those. I can eat them all the time. Last night we took my mother-in-law out for a belated Mother's Day and we all loved it. They gave a free plate of rice to my 3 year old (they have done this before). My husband had the teriaki chicken ($13), I had the pad thai ($11), and my MIL had teriaki beef ($13). Every dish was incredible. I will be getting the Pad Thai again and again. Over-all -- the food is delicious, the service is great, the atmosphere is wonderful, it's on main street which is cute and quaint, but the prices are a tad steep. Oh - and while I haven't been to lunch yet, we plan to very soon! We've heard great things about their free lunch appetizer bar! The lunch specials are $8.50. read more

Wanted to give a higher rating, but although this may stand out in the Hill Country, it's below average for Austin. They do have an appetizer bar that was very nice. YES, Marble Falls has THAI OH MY. My fam lives in this area so I have tried every place from kingdom come that direction! I really enjoy a couple of sushi rolls, love their pad thai & cheese egg roll thingies! Their portions are smallish, but fills me up well. It is a bit on the pricey side so I reserve this one for special treats. The service is always great & it feels very intimate as the restaurant is super tiny! Really good and like others say a nice surprise in Marble Falls. Had the Pad Prik King (one of my favourites) and also the Pineapple Fried RIce and both were good. They were accommodating when I wanted extra veggies instead of meat which was very nice. I also think the spicy levels are toned down because of where they are but they are willing to increase the spiceness if you ask. Will come back again. I think tonight was my first time having dinner here, but I've had lunch here many times in the past. I had a couple pieces of sushi, escolar & yellow tail. The yellow tail had the slime that a couple day old fish gets. I could definitely tell neither were super fresh, but they were good. I ordered the basil seafood and it was a bit of a let down. 3 mussels, 3 shrimp, and 3 pieces of what appeared to be imitation calamari. All I know is that gummy textured whatever it was didn't taste like real seafood. Furthermore, the mussels weren't that great & the shrimp was just ok. When I used to come for the lunches I was always stoked about the "free" salad bar but the other day when I came in for lunch I wasn't that impressed. Overall I give this place 3 1/2 stars but since they had an average of 4, I rounded down. read more
