Bacon cheeseburger with shoestring fries.
Brian C.

Had to stop in to one of the bars as it was a dry town when I went to the Rock. Wasn't drinking but wanted to try the burger. It was a good bar burger, cooked medium with plenty of cheese. The fries could have been warmer, they are best when they come out of the fryer, these seemed to sit a bit. Got a pink lemonade to wash it down which was quite tasty. Clientele on a Saturday afternoon was mostly locals. There were a few students, but most of them were working. The staff was very friendly and our server, Dominique, was efficient and personable. I assume the atmosphere changes in the evening when more students probably show up to drink. Our table was sticky...but the silverware was clean. Festive atmosphere with plenty of TVs and a friendly staff. Friend used the ladies room and mentioned a chalkboard for confessions, like "I slept with my boss", which was funny. I didn't want to see what was in the men's room.

Not a whole lot of vegetarian options. The salad was pretty regular. The prices were a bit expensive. The setting feels a bit busy but is overall fine. Not really an ideal venue for me specifically, but would go again if a group was going.

Pepperoni Balls. (Large = 6. We ate 2 before taking the picture)

We enjoyed our Pepperoni Balls and Beers very much!! Jennifer was our bartender/server and she was excellent as well. Attentive, but not overbearing. IF/when we are in Slippery Rock again, definitely will revisit!!

Veggie pizza

We've stopped here a couple times. Sometimes it's just drinks and sometimes we will get food as well. We stopped with our family, had a couple of drinks and ate and left really happy. The menu is big but both of us decided to try the pizza and we were happy we did. There was a gluten free option for me which was great. The pizza was good, cooked well and was served quickly. Our drinks were brought out quickly as well, despite almost all of the tables being full. We were able to pay our check and leave without much wait. This place can get busy in the evenings with the college crowd but it's worth a stop. Prices are reasonable and there is adequate parking in the front and back of then building.

Garlic Parm Wings
Jenna W.

Highly recommend getting the wings here. They're huge and very delicious! The skin is crispy, meat isn't dried out, and they're seasoned nicely. I tried the garlic parm wings and was very happy with my choice. The garlic wasn't too overpowering and the parmesan cheese actually stuck to the wing, instead of falling off when you picked it up. We also ordered the pepperoni rolls. They weren't my favorite. The outside was somewhat tough and then inside was a puddle of grease and chopped pepperoni meat. The marinara sauce that comes on the side helped the dish, but still wouldn't get it again. Our waiter was great, he was able to keep track of our large group's orders and checked on us every so often when our drinks and plates started to get low.

Very welcoming, cozy vibe. Menu was eclectic. Lots of great choices for appies and entrees. MaL,nR,IT had a chicken cheesesteak sandwich w a cup of French onion soup. He raved about it. Chunks of chicken, banana peppers, fried onions, and cheese on a sub roll. Naturally, he had to use a knife and fork. I had THE MOST AMAZING cheeseburger I've ever had... better than the old Mannions in Yonkers NY or Squires. 8 ounces of a blend of chuck, brisket, and "I forgot" on a grilled roll, with Swiss and fried onions. If you know me, I usually put ketchup on my ketchup. Not this time. My cb was naked, no ketchup needed. I savored EVERY DELECTABLE BITE!!! Michelle, our very excellent server, also gave us directions back to I-80 from the KOA, so I wouldn't need to rely on MaL,nR,IT in the morning. Extremely reasonable prices, amazing food, great service. I wish it was closer. We both agreed...5 stars

Burger was bland and cooked closer to rare than to medium. Bun was hard. French fries were those that the school sells. Philly steak was your typical chipped steak you get anywhere else. My daughter enjoyed her Kraft Mac and cheese kids meal. The kids grilled cheese was good as it was on sourdough bread toasted to perfection. The place doesn't really give you restaurant vibes but they were nice enough to put the Daytona 500 on for my husband.

The bar area has…read morehigh top tables for enjoyable get togethers, while thru the open door way are low top tables which aid in providing a more intimate atmosphere. There is also a big patio area which is wonderful for a warm spring day, or a cozy summer night. The menu contains unique items amongst its standard fare. We went with the "Polish bowl", the " Italian bowl" and the cheesesteak. The Polish bowl contained pirogies that would rival any church lent takeaway. Accompanying them was kielbasa, sauerkraut, bacon, with side of sour cream and butter. Large portions, delicious taste. The Italian bowl consisted of four enormous meatballs. The flavor reminded me of my mom's who was taught by her neighbor who was from Italy. So very delectable. I took two of the four home and made two meatball subs from them- again, so enormous. The Grumpy Beaver does not skimp on quantity, but maintains a very high level of quality. The cheesesteak equaled two you would receive from anywhere else. The inclusion of sirloin, Swiss cheese accompaniment, and the local Mancini bakery bread ( long roll) will stand against anything you get from Philly. This was scrumptious. For dessert we chose a Dubai torte, and a banana peanut butter pie. Both did not let us down, with the heavenly flavor exploding in each bite. Our waitress Gabby was sweet and very accommodating. We will be back, and you should try it!

As for their catered food, I am totally biased. I have been chasing chef Greg Powell around Beaver County for ages, wherever he is cooking up his food. My default when I don't feel like being disappointed…read more @thepubat333 is that easy "let's just go to..." and no one argues it because it just...works. There's enough going on menu-wise that everyone figures it out, and I'm not exaggerating-every single time I've been there since they opened, someone at the table orders a French dip. Every. time. It's basically part of the experience now. Also if I see pierogi, I'm ordering pierogi. That's just who I am. Could've taken down the entire plate without blinking but I shared like a respectable adult (meanwhile mentally tracking which ones were supposed to be mine). It's just a laid back, neighborhood spot that doesn't try to be anything crazy and still ends up being exactly what you wanted. Fun fact: my friend and I once prank called from their landline, the owner immediately called back, we answered like nothing happened, and yeah...the phone was no longer an option for us after that

Bar seating was almost full with only a couple seats. Heard good things about their pizza too. There's free parking in the lot (although small). Shout out to our bartender Ange! The black and bleu shrimp was absolutely amazing. It's got blackened spice and has this creamy sauce that makes you go dip for more (I need that recipe honestly). If I had some bread, I'd definitely use this as a dip lol. We got the thin crust Sicilian pizza to share. The pizza unfortunately was very wet and kind of soggy. I think they could have waited to let it rest for a few min before serving because it would especially show when we were separate the slices and try to take one off the plate. I don't usually want my toppings and cheese to just slide off the pizza. Also since we were at a bar w/ some of the games going on, we wanted wings and got their crispy whole wings in a dry spice rub. They were pretty big wings and well seasoned -- not too spicy though if that's not your vibe.
