My husband likes a beer off the tap, that's fine, but this place has drunk college kids hanging out at 5:30p at the same time as there are still crying toddlers in the place. That's a bad mix. Plus it took an hour for the food to come and when it finally did my husband's pasta was cold. We were given a 30% discount due to the wait. I recommend going elsewhere. Unless you're a college kid who just wants to drink at the bar and have snacks. Then it's golden, I suppose that's why the reviews are so hit and miss. Among bars I've been to, this is one of my least favorites. It's a small place as it is, and they try to fit WAY too many kids in there. Loud ass DJ who serves no more purpose than a loud radio, as there's no real room to dance. Shots are pricey and also not made well. Buy the alcohol, and have your own party. It will be more fun. First what the heck is wrong with the water! ! Tastes like the smell of sewer! ! The waitress should warn everyone who orders it! Second the food was horrible. I don't know how they did it but they made the French fries dry and taste like cardboard. Like need a drink of the sewer water to swallow them dry. I got the steak sandwich. It was dry as well. They cut several slices part way through the steak before they cook it (I assume so it would cook faster) which allows all the "juice" to run out of the meat. There's also no taste to the meat due to this. Daughter got the pulled pork. It was dry too and looked like it was pre-chewed. We've had lots of pulled pork in lots of places. Never seen it this shredded before though. She'd take a bite then take a drink so she could swallow the bite! That's how dry the meat was! Horrible. I didn't eat my steak sandwich or drink that water. The clueless waitress didn't have enough sense to ask why I didn't eat it or want a box to take it with me. Oh almost forgot the pepperoni balls. G-Hill is your average college bar. Pretty quiet on weekdays but at night and on weekends it is crawling with drunk college kids and pitchers of Coors flowing like the River Jordan. I've been on karaoke nights before and it's crowded but always great fun. DEFINITELY go with a group of friends at night. You are perfectly fine going by yourself during weekdays in the afternoon. I've only had food there once and split nachos with a friend. They were perfectly fine. I can't speak for the other menu items. The bartenders, to my experience, are helpful and knowledgeable. You can get your usual beers there (Bud Light, Coors Light, etc) but they also make some decent cocktails. I personally recommend Angryballs (Angry Orchard + Fireball) or cranberry juice with a shot of Jim Beam apple. read more

Very bad service took 2 hours for food to come out. I would suggest going to McDonald's across the street at least its doesn't take 2 hours to get you food. Very disappointing. I've away get their steak salad for the past 10 years. Aways good until about 2 weeks ago. It was on a Sunday, traveled a half hour 1 way. Girl at pick up side didn't want to be there, throw in a 1/4 onion hole, 2 little hard, old discolored tomatoes. No cheese. Didn't see until I got home. Steak and ff was the only thing good. As we drove up to Slippery Rock from Pittsburgh to check out the campus/apartments, we decided to stop somewhere for a bite to eat. I had a good feeling about this place as we drove by, so we stopped. Our waitress Molly was so very friendly and kind, great start! So as we looked at the menu, I saw fajitas! I absolutely love fajitas! So, we both decided to get the "Combo Fajitas". We could hear the sizzling coming from just outisde the kitchen doors. This place gives you a whopping supply of lettuce, tomatoe and cheddar cheese! The grilled chicken and steak were cooked to perfection. The hostess wanted to seat us next to the door, the place was less than half full when we walked in. So we got a booth with one booth between us and the door , next to a window that leeks cold air. Ginger Hill Tavern is a nice place to sit down and eat if you're in town. They have good food at a reasonable price. The environment inside is also nice. It took a little while for the food to come, but that is more than likely due to COVID. They offer a variety of food, so definitely check them out at some point. read more

Frankly we didn't expect very much from the food in this tavern, which looked like a dive and was noisy and crowded the night we were there because of a football game on the TV over the bar. But our dinner was definitely a cut above what you usually get at a place that looks like this on the outside. My chicken Romano with wild rice and veggies was ample, tender, and very tasty; my wife's calzone was good; our friends, on a Keto diet, had a burger and a Reuben without the bread, with zucchini fries. A group of friends and I go to GH regularly for happy hour - typically on Wednesday for 60cent full wings. The seasoned salt wings are pretty much always awesome. My friends love the rocket fries, pepperoni balls, etc, but I'm not too big of a fan of the menu when I'm not in the mood for wings - if you don't want a full meal, you don't really have any option for an app unless you want ALL fried foods. Typical for bar food, but lacking the variety you see at a lot of other bars. The Forearm Slam (Smash?) drink is great and, depending on the bartender, strong. Extra star for the drink. read more

Honestly one of the best pubs in PA to get food. Pepperoni Balls are 1 of a kind! Great atmosphere in heart of small college town and local school district. Supports both! This restaurant has really changed since my last visit. The waitress was friendly, but was extremely slow and did not check on my party nearly enough. We ordered fries and were not asked which fries we would like. That was not the main issue though, and was something that I could easily bypass. We ordered the Hill Pizza for our entree and it tasted horrible. They changed the sauce from what I was informed, and it was very sour. They told me that it came from a can. Very unappetizing for $10, when I could purchase a pizza from Domino's, Fox's or even Nico Luciano's for the same amount of money with better ingredients. After waiting at least ten minutes to get the waitress's attention, I told her about my problem and the manager showed up at our table. She was very rude towards all of us and told us that she could only give us 30% off on our pizza. After this terrible experience and a few others, I WILL NOT be returning. read more
