Really disappointed. We had 6 girls and I purchased $250.00 in gingerbread houses. We were the only ones in the shop and the kids were not eating the decorating candy. They were only using it to decorate; however, if you decorated the cookie or a large house each child received the same amount of decorating candy. When one of the girls required more m&ms to complete her roof, I was told each person only receives that amount of candy and I would have to go across the street and purchase more from the candy store. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! After I purchased $250 in houses, that is a complete insult! $50/per house should have unlimited decorating candy. The girls were limited in their creativity and some were upset and didn't even have enough candy to complete their idea. Will definitely not be going back. read more

This place is sooo cute.... and the new baker Savannah was super friendly, and had samples out for customers and was being very helpful. My mother was with me.... she is the gingerbread expert... and didn't like the cookies. She likes a few kinds at Trader Joes at holiday time and a few others... but didn't like these. Everyone's taste is different... I thought she would be thrilled to see this place.... Suggestion is try for yourself.... You may find them amazing. read more

Came here with tWo other couples and their kids What we were all expecting and what it was , were two different things. To start the ginger bread houses were pre built . I was expecting we would get to build them Second they were ridiculously priced. For the smallest house they were $22 and they went up to $40+ You could also elect to buy cookies for $18 ish or dollars They do Have gluten free option (limited) and limited GF decorations They then lead you to another room where they give you Icing to pipe on, candy , chocolate and a ginger bread man cookie to put on the house My wife and I got a Xmas tree cookie , one other couple got a train cookie The kids sat at separate table. We sat there for 15 mins awaiting instructions and none came. We saw the kids just started doing whatever and asked one of the girls what to do. (We kinda knew but thought they should tell us being we spent $70 on cookies) she's just like the icing is the glue and you stick in the candies. Great We have taken numerous similar classes with cupcakes etc, typically you have someone instructing and or guiding you . The kids had fun but for the price not worth it all. I am no gingerbread expert. I have no idea what it takes to make gingerbread and could not differentiate classic gingerbread from mass produced stuff. What I do know is that making your own gingerbread house is loads of fun. It is a little pricey (figure $30 bucks per person) but still fun. The staff is very helpful and supportive. My niece wanted to use an icing color other than white. The staff quickly whipped a batch of red icing for her (we paid a couple of bucks for the privilege). When the owner came by and saw her working with her two colors, he came by with the tube of green icing and showed the table how to make Xmas trees. He demonstrated and then left the tube of green gratis. They give you just enough candy to decorate the house not really much extra to spare so use it wisely. You don't have enough candy for do-overs. They will sell you additional candy if you want, but better to make due with what you have. At the end of the day everyone gets a certificate stating they have graduated from the university. A nice touch for the kiddies, but be warned the credits don't transfer. If you are looking for a nice holiday experience, they are worth a visit. If you are looking fro great gingerbread, I really don't have any advice on that. read more

Total fan - and has become a holiday tradition. When making the houses - I don't really make it to eat it - mostly for decoration - then I throw it away. The consistency of the gingerbread appears tough though - if that's what you like to do with your house afterwards (eat it!) - so if you have some issues with crunchy tough gingerbread then it might not be for you (so the sturdiness of it makes it great for decoarting!). It's an all around good time - and since it's surrounded by others shops and food stuffs you can always leave to grab lunch/dinner or grab some trinkets. read more

We have never left a bad review, check our profile. Never. But, after being a long time customer of well over 15 years, we felt the need to leave this review regarding our experience at the place. Every year for over 15 years our kids and extended family have either visited this establishment for gingerbread houses or since Covid, we have purchased them to go the past few years. This year we placed our order on 12/2 for a pick up of 12/23. Everything at this shop has to be done via email, they no longer give you an option of speaking with them via telephone. You can only communicate through an elaborate email set up that is not user friendly for the consumer, Not at all. That said, since it is our only option, we did as we had to and completed the task to pick up our5 gingerbread houses (Approximately $260 worth). When you order you must leave your email and your telephone number. So, please understand that the store had a way to contact us should something arise. With family unable to make it earlier we could only do the gingerbread thing on 12/23. We went to pick up our items today and they gave us a completely different product. There are apparently 2 types of houses a larger one, the one we ordered and have used for over 15 years , and a smaller version. The store said there was a issue with the baker, and this is what they had. When we said, if this was the case, why not contact us? They have our email , they have our phone number....yet no contact. What they did was they simply sold our ones and since we came later in the day for our pick up this is what was left. they stated they could get us our order tomorrow, but that was too late for us. The entire process was shameful. They were apologetic, but did nothing to offer us anything since our order was ruined. No discount. No coupon for further purchases. Nothing for our years of support to the store year after year. Additionally, there was no ownership there. It is, after all a Christmas shop and clearly their busiest time of year. yet nobody over 20 years of age was there. The employees seemed to care less that our annual gingerbread making was messed up this year. I get it, theres worse things in life, no doubt. But, the customer service was horrible. the new store dismal. The employees miserable. there is no reason to return. time for a new family tradition. We won't be back. read more

Visited with the boys, thinking we were going to take a class on how ginger cookies were made. We ended up just staying in line to buy 2 gingerbread men for $20 each and a small cookie for $3.50. They sat us on a pizza bench and gave us some candy and frosting. Seriously, $43.50 plus tax for 3 cookies some frosting and some m&ms marshmallows and jelly beans.. They also were probably the worst tasting gingerbread cookies we ever tasted!! To top it off we asked for an extra box and they said we can't give you one. $43.50 plus tax and I can't get a box?? This has been both a family and friends tradition for years now! When I decorate with my family, we go out and make a reservation for decorating in the Decorating center on site. We make a whole day out of it and cut down our Christmas tree, decorate our Gingerbread Houses, and than have lunch at either the Lobster Roll which is right next door or at their newest creation the North Fork Tasting Room. Everything is delicious about this visit to Gingerbread University from the candy, fresh baked giant cookies and the sweet smell of Gingerbread. Love it! So much fun for all ages! The Gingerbread houses you get are definitely a step or two above the store bought ones that tend to always fall apart and look like cardboard. As for my decorating fun with friends we pick up the house kits from Gingerbread U and have a fun night at home decorating! We also purchase extra colored icing tubes and they have delicious fresh baked Gingerbites that are exceptional! Pricing is fair if you compare the quality of what you get between the box to take it home in, plastic wrapping, Gingerbread houses that look and taste real, and the array of candy selections given to decorate. Definitely a place to visit during the holidays! I also heard they offer year round Gingerbread selections?! That could be fun for an Easter house Centerpiece! read more
