Hi Yelp - I don't believe I have written a Yelp review in 7 years, but after my experience with Gingerella, I needed to get back on here. I hired Gingerella for a deep cleaning of my apartment. I keep my 1 bedroom apartment clean and tidy, but really needed someone to get in there and clean the nooks and crannies. The things I don't clean on a daily basis like my window sills, the grout around my bathtub etc. After being charged for 3 hours of deep cleaning $90 + $13 in parking by Mike, I got home last night to my apartment and frankly was shocked. I am not sure what Mike did for 3 hours, maybe took a nap, watched some TV - but certainly didn't do any real cleaning. Where to start. My window sills were not cleaned. There were still flower pedals, dust, soot lingering across. My bathroom floor was not cleaned underneath my bathmat. The grout was still filthy. My items on my bathroom counter were haphazardly scattered (not that this is a big deal - just looked messy). Neither of my garbage cans had garbage can liners despite me leaving them on the counter and emptying both trash cans yesterday morning. My bed was messily made - very messily made. Nothing was dusted - nothing. I wiped my hand across my nightstands, my counters, lamps, my bookcase - all covered in dust. My windows had not been cleaned along with the mirrors in my hallway. It wasn't even like there was an effort made - kind of hilarious. Some of my stove had been wiped down, other parts not. The area behind my kitchen sink had not been cleaned at all. I could go on and on. When I walked in the door - it didn't smell as though my apartment had been cleaned. Gingerella said this is because they use natural green products - right... Anyway, initially Gingerella had said I would only have to pay $60 for two hours. But the more and more I discovered, I requested someone to come re-clean the apartment (I have someone staying at my place for the 4th of July via AirBnb and wanted my place to be spotless). Gingerella said they do not have time, but wouldn't be charging me for the cleaning. However vs. admitting Mike did a poor job - they said they "underestimated the time necessary for my cleaning". I'm not sure what cleaner needs more than 3 hours to clean a 700 square foot apartment...and in that 3 hours can't manage to even dust. The company was prompt in getting back to me. Disappointed with the cleaning. It looks like there's inconsistent quality of service based on who you get. Unfortunately, I got a newer person. There was still grime on our kitchen countertop, our bathroom sink and toilet cover was still dirty, corners of the bathroom still dirty, etc. On top of that, the person was on her phone for at least 15+ mins just chillin in our kitchen which worries me because what was she doing in the bedroom and bathroom where there are no cameras? The cleaning itself I would've given 3 stars. It wasn't great and she missed a few areas but what made me take an extra start off was the fact that she was just on her phone, on my dime, for extended period of time, when she was supposed to be cleaning. read more

Isn't it amazing how Bobby manages to lie and twist things? He claims in hos response to my review that I tried to ask for free service. When? I never asked for ANY Free Service, EVER! I paid much more money than I should have for sub-par service, and the work quote I was given of a two-person crew was completely false, however, I didn't ask for any free service. It is libel and slander against my name. Perhaps it is time to go to small claims court. Bobby never apologized for the crummy service nor did he do a before or an after check. A serious, reliable, legitimate businessman would have hustled over immediately to inspect if a customer had a complaint. Little boy Bobby didn't. Instead he makes up ridiculous excuses for crummy service. What free service did I ask? I should post my cancelled check on here. And I will post the before and after pictures. PS, I went to the funeral in the MORNING. Your guy showed up to rip me off (pretending to clean) in the afternoon. read more

I am sure everyone's experience depends on the cleaner they worked with, but I had 2 bad experiences with 2 separate cleaners. I scheduled a deep cleaning in July and a young man arrived about 15 minutes late, which wasn't a big deal. I did a walk through with him for about 10 minutes to make sure he understood what needed to be done. I really needed my floors to be swept/mopped, rooms vacuumed, and a few areas with buildup dusted. I stayed home from work to make sure the cleaner did a good job since I've had issues in the past. Fast forward 4.5 hours...the cleaner told me he was finished so I went from room to room just to make sure everything was done correctly. My kitchen was cleaned thoroughly, but my condo was not dusted. I went in my bedroom and it looked like their vacuum just moved the particles around the room. I also checked the rug under my living room to make sure it was moved before the cleaner mopped and it definitely wasn't - this is something I called out explicitly during the walk through. The cleaner said he had to go because the time period was up, but would come back to clean anything that I felt he had missed. I didn't have another day to work from home that week so I declined. I communicated this to their customer service, and they offered to send someone more thorough out the next time. I decided to give them one more chance and scheduled another appointment for September. This time around I waited 25 minutes for the cleaner to show up. The cleaner never came. He also didn't call or email to let me know he couldn't come. I contacted their customer service and got an apology but no explanation. I would recommend going with another service and avoid any headaches if you are a new potential client. read more

We love having Gingerella! We couldn't be happier with their service. Tim always leaves our apartment looking and smelling clean, and we very much look forward to our cleanings every 2 weeks. I don't know how he gets everything so clean in those 2 hours, but I know we never could do it ourselves in that time! We also love that they use green products. I've recommended them to numerous friends, so I have no hesitation recommending them on Yelp! read more

I had emailed Gingerella to set up a deep cleaning back on September 14. The earliest that they had available was 9/26. This was confirmed by both me and Marcie. This evening I emailed to confirm that my spot for tomorrow was happening. I received an email back saying while my appt was confirmed it didn't save to the cleaners schedule and was no longer available. 1) this should have been a phone call not an email,especially since I'm a first time client. 2) clearly my appt was scheduled first and should be honored. The earliest they could reschedule would be a week later ( 3 weeks after my first email was sent) and a $15 credit. This will be my only interaction with this company because why should I give my money to someone who doesn't value me or my time as a potential client. read more

I reeeeally wanted to love Gingerella!! I am a clean freak, and usually do my own house, but since I am pregnant, I am looking for some regular help, with the same person, for when my little one arrives and have less time and energy. Setting up the appointment was great, very professional with email reminders. A gentleman came to the house with some cleaning supplies and a spray of I think Gingerella's homemade Orange and something cleaning solution. The gentleman was very kind and said he'd been with Gingerella for 2 months. Great, let's get started! I asked what was in the solution, if it was good with wood as well as marble and windows (how can it be good for everything? hmm...) the gentleman didn't know the answer to any of my questions. I was skeptical and asked if he would use my cleaning solutions and mop instead. I warned him that I am very particular and that I might be a little bit of a micro manager but that if things went well, the next time, I wouldn't be as much. Overall, I wasn't too impressed. He definitely was a novice. The biggest thing was that he smelled of sweat (poor guy) and when he left the room, the smell lingered! When your house is being cleaned, shouldn't it smell like...clean? Fresh? I sprayed Febreeze around in every room, but the smell still lingered for a few hours. Needless to say, I will not be calling Gingerella again... :( read more

A friend turned me on to Gingerella some years ago. Marcie is in charge of scheduling and much more. She is excellent - efficient, accurate, and professional. The cleaners use green products that smell great (they finish things off with a lavender solution). Ryan has been our cleaner for at least two years, maybe more. He's a great guy that knows our house by heart. He does a wonderful job. read more

I've used Gingerella for several years and would absolutely recommend them. We've had two regular cleaners during that time, and both have been great. I really like that we are able to establish a long-term relationship with a cleaner, and that they don't change constantly like happened with a service I used in the past. Gingerella's Bobby and Bria are very professional in every aspect of my interactions with them. Their courtesy and commitment to great client service is fantastic. I hired them about 7 months ago to clean my 2 bedroom apartment -- we started with a deep cleaning session/diagnosis. During that, Bobby and I were able to come up with an arrangement that worked for both of us. Since then, I've been happy with how Gingerella's treated my house. Now, I'm not a neat freak by any means, but I do like to have a clean house (and I don't have time to do it). I've also had my fair share of bad experiences with house cleaners - and these guys are far and above others I've known. Because I found them to be so reliable and trustworthy, I went out on a limb to ask Bobby to keep an eye on my cat while I was out of the country recently. Without missing a beat, he and I again came up with an arrangement that worked for both of us. I cant say enough great things about the green cleaning duo of Gingerella! I was moving somewhat unexpectedly, and had absolutely no time to clean my apartment for the next tenant to move in. I was frantic to find a good, modestly priced cleaning service to help me out. I found Gingerella and Im so glad I did! They cleaned the apartment to a degree that was better than it was when I had even moved in 2 years ago!!! They were efficient, super easy going and pleasant to work with, and the best part totally green, using non toxic environmentally safe and responsible products. They even recycled the stuff that I would have just thrown away in a panic to get it done. The new tenant was soo happy with the new and clean apartment, he wrote me an email thanking me! I used Gingerella for the first time today and could not be happier with the results. I've used other services in the past and have always thought that I could do it better myself - not with Gingerella. They were so thorough that they even cleaned my toddler's toys. Gingerella is amazing. Well, Ryan from Gingerella is amazing, and the limited exposure that I've had with the rest of the crew has all been positive. Ryan shows up on time every month, says nothing about the horrifying job we do of cleaning our house, and takes his time to not only deep clean the place above and beyond the call of duty, but also gives us a head's up if there's a burnt out lightbulb or something else out of the ordinary that he sees. Having somebody enter your house when you're not home is a very personal and trusting step. After working with Ryan for a few months, I can say that we are extremely trustful of him. He's got a very positive attitude, he's extremely thankful that we tip (Tip people, people! Have you never worked in the service industry?) and we're already dreading the day when he invariably moves onto bigger things. I can't believe I haven't written a review for you guys previously - that's my bad - I definitely bring you up any time somebody asks for a recommendation (or even when they lament having to clean their home over the weekend). I will say that I did have some initial sticker shock as to the price, but its well worth it in my opinion (as the owner of 5 hairy pets). read more

When it comes to housecleaning services, you absolutely get what you pay for. That being said, I find Gingerella's pricing to be totally reasonable. Lance cleaned our apartment yesterday and did a great job. He was organized and communicative, and ended up getting everything done in the amount of time we requested. I had a list of particular areas I wanted to get special attention, which helped. This was clearly not his first rodeo because he had a plan for each (baseboards, ceiling fans, etc.). And he didn't mind at all when our very, very excitable golden retriever had to say hi. Thank you for that. Overall, the experience was very good, and we plan to have them come regularly. read more

Update to my move-out cleaning review. We've now been using Gingerella for regular cleaning for a few months. Our cleaning person is Matt and he has quickly become my favorite person ever. Seriously, he does such a good job, I cant even tell you. I'm a CRAZY clean freak, and we cycled through a number of cleaning services that just weren't good enough before finding Matt at Gingerella. I scheduled a cleaning with Gingerella for my 1-bedroom condo. Bobby did a fantastic job. He polished hard to reach areas and made sure to clean under all of my raised cabinets (what a horrible design, so much dust gets trapped under there). He was super friendly and accommodating. The lavender scent used in the floor cleaner is heavenly. I was so pleased with the cleaning that I jumped at the opportunity to have them clean my apartment again next month. read more

i'm lazy when it comes to cleaning. embarrassingly lazy. surprised-my-friends-still-forgive-my-unkept-surroundings-Lazy-with-a-capital-L. the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. upon owning up to the character flaw that is my inability to commit to the full day deep cleaning my apartment needed and deserved, i scoured yelp for a cleaning service and fell upon gingerella. after corresponding with bria via email, i scheduled a deep clean (same hourly rate, just longer hourly commitment than a regular clean). since i wouldn't be home for the actual cleaning, bobby stopped by to collect keys and take a quick look. i returned to a home that is razzle-dazzle-sparkly-shining-clean. there were a few minor hiccups with the process but nothing that would merit 4 stars versus 5. (had to reschedule original cleaning date, person who cleaned the apartment didn't have the keys and though i was home). the quality of the work easily makes up for these things. i love supporting a local business who takes pride in their work and product and have found exactly that with gingerella. can't wait to schedule future visits! read more

I have waited over a month to write this review because I have been through many different cleaning companies over the past few years. My fiancée and I are both extremely busy and messy people. I have stacks of paper on my desk and all over the place and it seems as though my fiancée doesn't know how to use a dishwasher... All of the other companies I have hired have started out ok and turned into an absolute disaster after coming another 2-3 times. This is where Gingerella comes in, specifically Bobby. Bobby's company prides themselves on being a green maid service that goes above and beyond the competition. This is definitely true. We have a pretty large one bedroom all hardwood floors older apartment. He comes in and gets right to work, Bobby really hustles and works the entire time he is here. We have no communication issues as he listens to our requests and even wrote them in his phone to remind himself for the future. I request that me moves things on the floor every time he comes, to really clean our floors well and after the first time he has continued to do so ever since. Besides our floors he cleans the bathroom, making sure to wash out the bathtub, sink, and toilet. Kitchen including microwave and sink, vacuums the couch every time he comes, changes sheets, dusts ceiling fans, picture frames, my desks, even puts things away that I leave lying around all the time. I came home on Sunday afternoon and noticed Bobby was fixing my broken angel. I was just so happy. I couldn't believe he cared about my special knick-knacks so much. I broke the angel twice and really thought she'd never get back together...at this point she looks as though I never broke her in the first place. It's hard to find a cleaning service that cares about what they are doing. I feel as though with Gingerella we have found that company. Bobby is a great help to us and we plan on keeping this service around for a long while. We hired Gingerella to do a move out clean for our two bedroom. We choose them because they were pet-friendly, their business is named after their cats, and if that's not awesome enough they came in at the best price compared to 4 other highly rated cleaning services. Misty did a great job-- so good that we got our full security deposit back and then some (seriously!). Bobby from Gingerella has been cleaning my 3 bed/2.5 bath townhouse for about 6 months now. I truly couldn't be more satisfied and pleased with their work and business! Due to my sporadic work schedule, I schedule 1 appointment at a time, all via email. Bria (who schedules) is so friendly and responsive, though I have contacted by phone without any issue. Bobby keeps me updated, even when running just a minute or two early/behind and frequently requests feedback on the quality of his cleaning, all with natural cleaning products. Being a neat freak myself, I have never received work that was less than top-notch (far better and more thorough than I could do myself). If I have special requests outside from the normal cleaning routine (like cleaning the inside of the fridge, etc.), Bobby is more than happy to do it. They charge a fair hourly rate, which is well worth their work and wonderful business practices. My favorite aspect of Gingerella, however, is knowing that I can truly trust who is in my home without a second thought. I've been a customer for almost a year and a half and I have to say, they really act like they want to have and keep your business. Cleaning can vary from person to person, usually depending on how experienced they are, but the service has been pretty consistent. If you're dissatisfied with something, just voice your concern because they're typically pretty accommodating. Safe bet for you to at least try out. read more
