I went to Ginny's for a birthday gathering. It is a quaint space downstairs inside of the Red Rooster restaurant. The evening had a beautiful flow - we dined upstairs in the restaurant prior to entertainment downstairs. The cool thing is there was also live music playing as we dined. It was a bit noisy, so we were glad to experience an obvious change in atmosphere once we arrived at Ginny's. I love the speakeasy vibe and the fact that we did not have to exit the building entirely to be in a different place. Ginny's has its own ambience and the music was lovely. All in all, a wonderful experience and I'd go again, with or without a reason or special occasion. read more

Gospel buffet brunch was astounding. Each dish was excellent by itself: the Caesar salad had broiled romaine, the deviled eggs were tasty and creamy, the biscuits, the cheesy eggs, the garlic mash, the jerk cauliflower, the Mac and collard greens--each and all remarkable. The choir was fun, personable and the singing felt nearly, or really, professional. The rotation of lead singers gave one a sense of the real musical depth of the choir. On par for Harlem, and Red Rooster. We live in Manhattan, and I had only been to Red Rooster for a weekday dinner. That was great. Ginny's Super Club is located inside Red Rooster restaurant. When you come in straight back and a stairs down to the venue. The bar is left as one comes in, then the space opens to tables. A full menu of Appetizers, Entrees, Desserts is available. Also a Drinks menu of Beers, Wine and Full Bar. We we're five and opted to share the Taco Truck and the Fried Bird Royale, Beer & Wine. The Taco Truck a combination of pulled pork, jerk chicken, spicy chorizo, grilled shrimp, pico de gallo, lime chili creama, avocado, house made - corn tortillas, charred peppers. The shrimp were jumbo, the meats not too hot, I liked the chorizo bits. The corn tortillas were a small sized disks buried under all the food. It was good to share. The Fried Bird Royale is a buttermilk fried whole chicken, mac & greens, biscuits, red velvet waffle, hot honey, pickles, foie gras butter. The whole dish was delicious. It was more than enough food for all and we liked it. Our main purpose to go was to see Pedrito Martinez Ensemble play at the club. Wonderful, fun, and pleasantly surprised - words that sum up my experience at Ginny's. So, a new friend of mine invited me to an open mic at Ginny's. I've never been to an open mic event so I had no clue what to expect. But I'm very glad I attended because it was amazing. Ginny's is located on the lower level of the Red Rooster restaurant. After dining at Red Rooster, my friends and I ventured downstairs for the FREE open mic night, which begins at 8PM (some weeks are later). Open mic is hosted by Anu (a grammy award winning musician) along with some local and notable musicians. They began the night with some original material that set the tone for how great the night would be. Following this, one-by-one a few people in the crowd came up to perform. There was a little singing and some rapping. Immense talent, I can't say that enough. My friend even took a chance and rocked the house with her singing. We did not have drinks or food so I can't comment on that. However, I highly recommended attending. I cannot wait to return with others, I had such a great time! read more

Ginny's Supper Club has a new fan, and nelle c. is her name! I had merely been hoping for a relaxed dinner at Red Rooster with an old friend, but ended up with a delightful and memorable evening. My friend showed up quite late, so I initially milled around the front of Red Rooster taking in the lively ambiance. First of all: any restaurant that plays Keith Sweat, Color Me Bad, Zhané, Soul 4 Real, and Soul 2 Soul all in the first 30 minutes is doing it right!!! So there I was, jammin' and people watching and getting hungry. When my friend finally showed up, the hostess told us that the only seating would be available downstairs at Ginny's Supper Club, but that they'd waive the $10 pp fee for the live show. ::Well, don't threaten us with a good time!:: It was wonderful! All of the food was on point - I had the salmon with bok choy and my friend had the fried yardbird. But the highlight of the evening was the Johnny O'Neal trio. Why oh why has live jazz faded to the fringes of our daily musical consumption? Mr. Johnny O'Neal was entertaining, personable, relatable, and had nothing but talent falling from his fingertips on them piano keys. The cellist was also excellent, as was the drummer who provided all kinds of enthusiastic percussion along with eye candy. (I'm just sayin'!) The desserts were also great: the sweet potato doughnuts and the pineapple upside down cake are such treats. Of course, being a Marcus Samuelsson fan, I had a few of the "Yes, Chef" cocktails and found their mixology to be the perfect complement to the lovely evening. So, if you're looking for a different kind of night out that is memorable with exquisite food, delicious drinks and desserts, and filled with tunes that effectively transport you to an exciting bygone era - I believe Ginny's will do all that for you cuz it did it for me! read more

This has become my favorite place in Harlem. Food was terrific, atmosphere was perfect, drinks were amazing and the people and service was extraordinary. We had a memorial there, and everyone raved about everything I just listed. We actually stumbled upon this place when we were on line at red rooster. There were no available seats left in the restaurant and suggested that we could eat downstairs if we were interested. At the time I didn't know what that meant but I was dying to try the chicken. Turns out, there's a really cool jazz/bluesy lounge downstairs where artists perform live and you can still munch on red rooster food. The menu down here is a limited version of red rooster's but they have the most popular dishes listed. I got the fried chicken which is definitely worth the hype. The food also came out super quick, under 10 mins from when we ordered it. The only disappointment was the cornbread. It was pretty plain and I could've done without it. For the experience of eating good food while listening to talented jazz artists, I would totally come back soon! read more

We decided to splurge and take our two friends here for the gossip brunch; they never treat themselves so we decided we should spoil them a bit. It was an amazing and memorable experience. The food was wonderful with great variety. Sing Harlem was amazing, lively and beyond talented. I was VERY saddened by the service... we waited over 15 min just to order a drink, then another 20 min to get 2 of 4 drinks we ordered. I finally got up to find a server and ask for the last two drinks(special day, we wanted to toast) I found a server and instead of apologizing she was rude and made excuses on the delay. She made it seem like it was my fault they were short staffed. I think the server talked to us twice, once to take the order and once to drop off the check. We paid $300 for brunch for 4 people (before tip) so I expected a more service focused team... it's was a shame... read more

The authenticity of seeing a live jazz band in Harlem takes you back in time. The band was great but it's very loud in this sub level space. I would not come expecting to converse with friends because you won't be able to hear each other unless you are shoulder to shoulder. I had a moment of excitement with a girlfriend and sounded off a slight shriek.. The host came over and asked me to keep my voice down. Ummm excuse me! Nobody puts baby in the corner! I was very annoyed and he blew my buzz from my drink (Hello Chef) that was sooo good. I understand if we were continuously loud and was disturbing the club. At the end of the night the host sent us a round of champagne and a shout out on the mic. He clearly knew his actions were uncalled for but hey what a way to make up for it with free liquor. The food was amazing and I the DJ afterwards was rocking, playing a good mix of music. I highly recommend reservations and they were kind enough to seat our partial party of six. Was here last last night with some friends and the food here is very expensive and subpar. The service is worse. One of my friends ordered chicken and waffles. Don't expect actual chicken and waffles folks. She got a quarter of a waffle and a chicken breast. The Mac and Cheese and Greens. Who thought this was a good idea? It's fine if separate, but mixed together? No! And using ziti pasta instead of elbow? This isn't what I know to be mac n cheese. I get it though, offer something fancy looking. Yeah I would have just preferred good. The drinks. We ordered several glasses of wine that arrived only half full. For $10 a glass, let's fill that up! Although, Stacy, our waitress, really should have offered the bottle. This was a Friday evening after all. When our meal was finished, our waitress never came back to offer dessert or even coffee. We don't even know if they had a dessert menu. Once I paid the $300 bill for 5 people mind you, our little waitress Stacy kinda disappeared. Didn't even come back to get her undeserved tip. We came for the Gospel Brunch and loved it! First off the buffet was worth the price of admission. Southern classics done just right! Sure the bacon was to die for, but then there was the fried chicken!!! It was a two-trip bunch for sure. Oh yeah, then there was the music!! Amazing, uplifting, joyous and simple a great way to start the day. Red Rooster is steps from the Apollo and lots of other iconic Harlem destinations so you'll have an excuse to walk that brunch off. Great spot for music. Wonderful ambiance and excellent service. I had the catfish and it definitely wasn't southern style. A little salty, but we'll done. The black eyed peas needed to be cooked a bit more, but I enjoyed the dish. If you enjoy sweet cornbread, theirs is pretty good. I don't recommend the ribs. They came out cold the first time and to be heated up and definitely weren't fall of the bone tender. Had to use a steak knife to cut into them. My friend recommended we go to Ginny's Supper Club because Bobbi Humphries was in town playing a two show set at 9pm and 11pm. Bobbi Humphries is a legendary jazz flutist who worked with the likes of Stevie Wonder and we were blessed that she was booked at Ginny's Supper Club and were able to participate in a little birthday party for her. Ginny's Supper Club is a much different vibe to what Red Rooster is upstairs. While Red Rooster has that rustic, farm feel to it, Ginny's was laid out with leather booths, wood paneling, and some interesting light fixtures that were dimmed to give it that loungy, feel. The acoustics were not bad especially when it comes to the percussions which can provide a weird reverb sound in other places. The place where the musicians were set up were close however, depending where you were seated, some of the pillars and the way your seat is angled can be blocked. I was sitting in one of the booths that face sideways away from the stage so I had to turn my body in a way where I can see Bobbi. However, there was also a wide pillar in my view so I had to crane my neck around some guests who were seated in front of me as well which didn't provide the most comfortable spot. I have to say, the entertainment was great and there were some local celebrities in the audience who also entertained us while Bobbi took a break but I was disappointed with the food. I ordered a lamb dish which was priced at $34 and thinking I was getting a nice, leg of lamb, I was served with 4 strips with some of the vegetables on the side. I thought to myself, this can't be it and I looked over to the tables on my side and they were lucky enough to order the Bobo Chicken and Waffle, which looked like a healthy heaping and at a much lower price. Well, I couldn't complain much since we ended up ordering dessert and that's the main reason why my friend and I eat and of course the presence of Ms. Bobbi Humphries made it an overall good night. read more

You know I've been here on two occasions for the late night parties and did not know the staircase leading to the downstairs lounge inside Red Rooster was called Ginny's Supper Club. I assumed it was the downstairs eating level for Red Rooster. Ginny's Supper Club has a swanky décor with a 'Harlem Nights' feel. I've attended the live DJ parties which occur after midnight on a Saturday night. I've had fun times dancing the night away. The music was on point. The crowd consisted of attractive well dress people in the mix, which makes great for people watching. This is a really night spot to come out and go dancing. The first time I went here it was during the summer and we strolled in to make our way downstairs without anyone asking us for a cover, but the second time I visited I was asked to pay a cover of $10 which I was shocked cause I assumed it was a no cover entry, but I was able to finagle my way out of paying the cover. I need to make my way over to Ginny's and check out the dinner and live entertainment they have to offer. read more

We had tix to see Lakecia Benjamin and the show itself was great. We had dinner upstairs at the Red Rooster so only came to see the show. That said, if you are coming to see a show, just make a dinner reservation. You have obstructed views from everywhere else BUT the dinner tables--and also the other areas can get cramped. I didn't know that in advance. Got a VERY generous tequila pour from the bartender--in a FROSTED glass (excellent touch). I was at the Schomburg for First Friday's and hunger started to creep in. We walked down to 125th. First the Cove was crazy, as was the Social Corner so we left and made a Bee Line for Red Rooster. The wait was about 45 mins and 4 hey didn't have space to seat our party of 8 but the host suggested downstairs. This was my first time so I assumed downstairs wss just an extension. .......much to my surprise it wasnt. Ginny's has a totally different vibe from Red Rooster. You are not able to have access to entire menu but it has a full bar. We sat at the table and ordered drinks and appetizers. Two of us had the shrimp and Papaya Salad and two others had chicken and waffles. The food wasn't over the top amazing but it wasn't the worse we've had. Now we're talking. Ginny's is like the polar opposite of the Red Rooster upstairs. The cocktails are better while simultaneously being less expensive. Dave runs the bar program and previously worked at D&C so he knows what's up. The artichoke croquette really missed for me because they didn't use the artichoke heart; they clearly use the leaves so you can basically just chew it forever without swallowing it, and the artichoke soup surrounding it has nice flavors but is a little too bitter. They swung for the fences and missed but it is definitely fixable if they listen to my humble suggestions. The duck scallion pancakes are fun (could use a little more pancake) but the flavors are great and the duck is prepared perfectly. Finally, the chicken and waffles are freaking amazing. Spread some Chicken-liver butter and pour some bourbon maple syrup over the top. The fried chicken was reminiscent of Salt & Fat's sous vide fried chicken... really amazing. I took my sister to Ginny's to celebrate her birthday and because she loves, loves the owner Marcus Samuelson from Chopped. However we just missed him by minutes. This place is beyond words! The Jerk Chicken and Mac and Greens was the best I've ever tasted. I would however, like to have more on the dinner menu to chose from at Ginny's. The decor is outstanding and the live performance was as well. I can't say enough about our waitress, she was patient with us as we took longer than most to decide on what we wanted and had plenty of questions about the recipes. She was warm and had a great smile! She was tipped very well for that just because I appreciate good service and her for the job she did. Great, exciting, fun - just a few words to describe my experience at Ginny's late night this past weekend. My friends had been raving about going out to eat at Red Rooster and then staying for late night. I really don't go out to lounges and late nights. But I'm happy that I decided to go this weekend. Everything was on point. From security, to the coat check, to the bartenders, everyone made my friends and I feel super welcomed. Ginny's is located downstairs in the Red Rooster restaurant. As soon as we went downstairs, there was an entire shift in the atmosphere. They were playing great music, a little 90s r&b, as well as the new songs today on the radio. We were having a little bit of trouble getting drinks at the bar, seeing that it was a bit busy (typical for any late night spot) when I was approached by (whom I later found out to be the late night manager) Devin. He asked me if it was my first time at late night and I told him how I was invited by friends. He quickly made sure we were taken care of and checked in on us throughout the night. We ended meeting some really cool people throughout the night and enjoyed dancing to all the great songs as well. At the end of the night, we found Devin and told him how we had such a great time and that we would be returning for sure. If you are someone like me, who isn't really into crowded clubs and lounges, this spot is for you. Definitely a more chill spot to relax and have such a good time. I cannot wait to come back. I was out in Harlem celebrating with my cousins and wife one of my cousins birthday weekend. We walked down to the supper club and were not greeted. My wife and I tried to explain to the hostess that we were here to meet my cousin. She did not explain there was a $20 cover charge per person to get in. Once my cousin came to get us then she proceeded to finally say there was a cover charge. My three cousins sat at the bar and I stood. The bartender got our drink orders but failed to provide menus after 15 minutes of being at the bar. The customer service at this place sucks for the prices they charge. The other bartender was standing around doing absolutely nothing for the longest time. The food was simply okay. The venue and atmosphere is what helps this place survive. The men's bathroom was absolutely disgusting. On the way out the hostess did not say a word. read more

I think it's very important to ensure that you separate the evaluation of the service and the product. Tiara, our waitress, and her support staff were all exceptional. The host checked our coats from the table and our wait staff were attentive and responsive to our needs. If this review was solely based on service, I would definitely give this place 4.5 stars. In contrast, the menu choices and required prix fix menu were disappointing. The red velvet cornbread, which by the way, is just cornbread no matter how you dye it, was brought to everyone. When I asked for an additional cornbread, because I was still hungry after my unexpectedly small appetizer, I was not informed that there would be an additional $7 charge. I ordered the grilled tuna, which was the size of the head of my fork, was displeasing. My boyfriend ordered the meatballs as an appetizer. The portion was satisfying but the flavor reminded me powdered gravy packets from my childhood. My entree, the yardbird, was definitely tasty and satisfying. The beef entree that my boyfriend ordered had to be sent back because it was 75% bone. How a chef allows that to be sent out to the table is questionable. Dessert was two options...sorbet and a white choc mousse, which was not a white chocolate mousse. Prix fix was $65 pp after we already paid for the live entertainment. I don't appreciate being taken advantage of on a holiday. Oh and when the artist (Pedrito Martinez) said he was taking a break and he would be right back, turns out the brief 45 min show was over and we had to clear out for the next wave. I have some positive things to say below but i could not rate the place higher than 3/3.5 as a (born and raised) vegetarian. Pregnancy aside with average hunger, I came with an appetite ready for some good food. I ordered 2 of the few options available to me as a vegetarian - Everyday I'm Brusselin (Brussels Sprouts) and Not Yo Mama's Cauliflower and an Entrée. Brussels sprouts were tasty and what I expected for an appetizer. But the Cauliflower was definitely not my Mamma's cause she would have made sure I got a balanced meal especially for $25 Entrée. Shocked that a team of people had the *nerve* to set in front of me half a $3 head of Cauliflower knowing I was going to be charged $25. Half Cauliflower and a bit of shallots on the side that may as well have been a garnish... let's say $0.50. It was seasoned- another $0.25. Now, I'm a great cook and make stuff like this at home but would have, for sure, added more for a complete meal. I hate to be thinking i could be home and tallying cost while I'm eating. When I expected my eyes to be rolling to the back of my head in bliss - I will pay for that experience, love and thought put into a good meal but this just felt like an Big F-you insult. Like they just Did not care enough for the vegetarian. I'm not on a starvation diet, i came to eat like everyone else. This though is hard for so many to grasp. But it's 2019 in New York City and o though we were last starving out vegetarians. I was with a big group so Meat and fish dishes seemed great- the layering and thought that went into the dishes- great. I was jealousy (and hungry) My husband had the almond encrusted salmon with a badass sauce. Why in this world couldn't something similar be done to the veg dishes?? They have the ability so it Would have been so simple to do so. This dish shows that someone just does not care enough about a group of paying customers who could potentially bring in more enthusiastic customers - meat eaters and veg alike. So the next time I travel all the way to Harlem from Brooklyn, my group would likely not go back since we all want to enjoy ourselves and get our moneys worth. On a more positive note, it was really impressive to see chef Marcus Samuelsson was so present and enthusiastic on the restaurant floor. I was very impressed with the amount of energy and care it takes to do what he does (just wow!). But please don't forget about a portion of your food loving patrons. read more

I went with my family for the 7PM show. I was in new york for a week, and was taking them out for the evening. My only concern was that they had a good time. As we were leaving, someone from the club came to our table, and asked how we liked the show. My sister in law was right next to me, so I shook my head and said it was a lovely evening Actually, the truth was, I was shaking my head in disbelief of the evening spent. The first thing I would say is that within 10 minutes of sitting down (pre show)...the food was served in front of us. There was no bread on the table, so I asked a server passing by for some. About 10 minutes went by....no bread. Our waiter was no where to be found, and while it was annoying to me, I did not want to make a fuss about it. Finally, the waiter came by and brought bread. It was STALE! I finally found him again, and told him that, and he said, "well, that's all we have" I mean, really? After all, this is not McDonalds...Red Rooster is a top notch dinning spot. Again, I kept my opinion to myself, but knew that a review was brewing!! He did tell me that there was corn bread that I could buy if I wanted some bread. I asked him to bring it. The cornbread was actually quite good, but, it HAD A HAIR IN IT! I was disgusted! I put it aside, and didn't say anything. My family was in a conversation, and it would have made it so uncomfortable to be complaining. If they weren't with me, I would have gotten up right there and walked out. But enough about the food, let's talk about the music I have never heard of the featured performer, but was looking for some place to go, and thought Dizzys would be a good spot.. She had some good reviews....seemed like a good choice. Never having heard her before, I can only say that I was not impressed. maybe the sound system was off, because many times she was out of tune... And through much of the beginning, I could hardly hear her voice! While her accompaniment was the quality that you would expect, what I heard from her was something very ordinary. I think spending $230+ for those 2 hours was disappointing and way overpriced to say the least. My friend who was with my family and I shared the same feeling about the evening. I called to make a reservation, and was told I can come at 9:30pm. I was emailed a confirmation that said red rooster but didnt call back because they are connecting businesses. Marcus Samuelsoon and Andrew Chapman have done it again. In the basement of their Harlem hot spot Red Rooster lies a hot new place to grab a cocktail, Ginny's Super Club. Speaking of cocktails, my top suggestion would be the Harlem Mule - Japanese whiskey, ginger, basil and peychaud's served in a tin mug. Although I'm guessing their Old Fashioned and Smokey Apple are pretty on point as well. The space itself if beautiful. Old school New York glamor meets uptown dynamics and energy. It's said to evoke the atmosphere of the Cotton Club, and other Uptown prohibition era night clubs. The attitude is simply sit back and enjoy your evening. The retro styled room is set up to maximize the seating options without feeling overly crowded. The tables all focus on a small stage area in the back of the room for live music, which I hear will mainly include R&B, Jazz, Soul, and Swing on a nightly basis. The beautiful decorative lights and cozy booths set a more elegant, cozy ambiance in contrast to the bustling Red Rooster. The food is also a change from Red Rooster's notable fried chicken and cornbread. The menu is mostly small plates, each packed with flavor. When I was here they were still working out all of the details of the menu and the space had yet to be called Ginny's, but from what I sampled I highly recommend the steamed buns, duck scallion pancakes, and the dumplings. The shrimp and walnut was also good, but minimal shrimp in the dish when I tried it. All of the items on the menu were great for sharing while enjoying the phenomenal entertainment presented. Ginny's is a little pricey for the food alone but for the entire package with the fantastic entertainment and cocktails, it's well worth the trip up to 125th. read more

If you read my review for Red Rooster you'll find that I wasn't particularly impressed when I visited so my eyebrow was a bit cocked up when my friend suggested that we go to Ginny's. I had a flashback of the watered down mac and cheese and the old folks doin' the hustle, but alas I am a loyal friend and semi begrudgingly traipsed myself to Harlem. When we entered the vibe was still cool and chill in the front and when we descended downstairs I realized that they had done some serious reconstructive surgery (I'm talking the likes of Joan Rivers). It has now been transformed to a completely separate and lovely dining area. We came here for Motown Mondays, a new gig they have where as you can guess, artists from the label perform. There were celebrities sprinkled around, but it was a very chill vibe. Marcus Samuelsson came and greeted our table and he looks the same as when we used to date, and by date I mean, as the last time I saw him on TV. We initially weren't going to eat but decided to split a few items. As expected, they were on the pricier side, however, much better deserved than the food served upstairs at Red Rooster. We had the shrimp and walnuts, mushroom dumplings, bobo chicken, salad and creme brulee. It was seriously so much better than the upstairs food. My friends had cocktails that they enjoyed and my Cabernet was pretty dang good. Our waitress was very nice but a bit confused towards the end of the night. The only thing that was a bit annoying was reserving tickets for the show. They were a bit disorganized as we tried to buy the tickets over the phone and we received some misinformation. All is forgiven though, as this is a new event that they have started and hopefully they'll work out all of those kinks. read more

I was really disappointed in this place, as I had high hopes. I usually don't write reviews based off poor service ... But I am compelled this time. We had dinner reservations at 9pm (table of 4) and we each paid an additional $25 in advance to stay and watch the live jazz band. When we first walked in, it took forever to be greeted. When someone finally came over, they told us to wait at the bar until a table was ready. Mind you ... It was not that busy. Furthermore, another party walked in after us and were immediately seated. 35 minutes later, someone finally escorts us to a table. At the table ... It took another 25 minutes for us to place an order. We were not even offered a glass of water while we waited. Meanwhile ... A fantastic jazz band started playing (Jean Bailor and the Bailor Project). This was the only reason we stayed. I ordered the meatball dish over a bed of cabbage, with mashed potatoes. It was served with cucumber slices and cranberry sauce. A super weird combo, but whatever. The flavor of the meatballs and cabbage was cool. The mashed potatoes tasted like the instant kind from a box. I had no idea how to incorporate the cranberry sauce and cucumbers ... So they stayed on my plate virtually untouched. After we ate, the bill came. The total was $140 ... So we gave $200 (two $100 bills). When the server returned, she gave us $10 change. She told us everyone at our table didn't pay to see the show, so they took it upon themselves to take the money out of our change. WTF? We all paid to see the show upfront (online), which was the only way we could have gotten reservations in the first place. We relayed this info to the waitress. Took forever to explain it ... All during the jazz band set, which was a total distraction. The waitress leaves ... And finally returns with our change. Didn't apologize or anything. Just super unfriendly. Needless to say, this was the first time I've ever left a restaurant without tipping. I was just so frustrated and bothered by the entire experience. I hope we just caught them on a bad night. Because it's a cool little spot ... In terms of decor and ambiance. Service just SUCKED Saturday (6/14/14). read more

EVERYONE needs to be aware. I originally thought this place was a good spot and had a good vibe, but a friend's wallet was stolen, and the staff/management was not interested at even looking at the camera that was pointing directly over us. They had my friend quietly go upstairs to make a police report (so that we don't create a scene), only to find out from the police themselves that cops are called out there almost weekly to report stolen items/wallets!!! PUT A SIGN UP. Why not WARN your customers when something like this happens so often??? This makes me believe the staff/management is in on this. I don't know if there's some sort of theft ring or what, but its very very shady. There were people there who weren't eating or to see the band that was playing. Ppl were just walking around eyeing everyone. Very sketchy. Just be very careful. Because of the fact that they hide this from customers and do not have any sort of sign warning ppl, i will no longer be coming back to this establishment. read more

Can you stomp your feet twice and scream "sexual chocolate" like Eddie Murphy did, as Randy Watson??? Because that's exactly what you'll be doing and saying at Ginny's. This place has more sex appeal than an episode of America's Next Top Model. The decor will blow you away. It's like walking into an episode of Boardwalk Empire, no joke. Very roaring 20's style (you know, before the big crash and all). The drink list complements the theme of the venue. And let's not forget the sexy clientelle this place attracts. From all walks of life. Suits and jeans, mingling together in harmony. If you're ever in Harlem, this is one bar you must try at least once. You'll be back if you, trust me. read more

Recently visited for my dear friend and cousin's birthday as she has always wanted to come here. I made a reservation ahead of time as it was a Saturday, and they had a live jazz band scheduled to play. We were made to pay a cover when we arrived, which we hadn't planned on. IMO, if you're buying food and drink, you shouldn't have to pay a cover also, but ok, we rolled with it. We found the food menu kind of limiting. We had a hard time finding things to order. We settled on wings, cornbread, and macaroni and cheese to snack on. The wings were undercooked, so we sent them back to be fried harder. When the wings were brought back to the table they were unrecognizable. The cornbread never arrived, so we cancelled it. And the mac and cheese left a lot to be desired. The celebrity chef should be ashamed of the food items being brought out of his kitchen. The only thing that was ok was the sangria. We spoke to a manager on the way out who refunded our cover charge. That was the least he could do for a disastrous evening. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. Woooowww this place definitely surprised me. From the prices, I would imagine the food would be amazing! Wrong! There was hardly any flavor and I suppose that Is due to the large caucus audience that comes in and all the gentrifiers moving in the area. If you are coming in from out of town I would say check this place out, for the show and the experience alone. Be mindful that there is a cover fee of 20 dollars per person and that does not go towards your food. Also remember to tip your servers ;) read more
