I came here for a dinner with two girl friends. It was a Saturday. The restaurant wasn't too full. The music was good but I expected it to be a little more lively considering that they describe themselves as "THE FIRST LISTENING ROOM ON THE UPPER EAST SIDE DEDICATED TO THE AUDIOPHILE MUSIC CULTURE". There were some cool nods to hip hop culture on the wall. They had pictures of some of the greats like Biggie Smalls. However, I expected it to more music oriented/ upbeat. The restaurant had an interesting southern inspired menu with a few vegetarian options. They didn't have any sides listed but we inquired with the waiter who said any of the sides can be substituted for sides from the other entrees. I was torn between a few of the small plates (which actually sounded quite hearty- e.g, shrimp and grits) and the entrees. I ended up going with the catfish and chips which also came with hush puppies. The fish and chips were nice and crispy. I enjoyed the taste but found the portion to be really small for a main course, and I'm not a big eater. The Tatar sauce is came with was really good. The only thing I didn't like (besides the small portion) were the hush puppies. They were super dry. My friend specifically had to ask for honey butter to make them more palatable. I think they definitely needed their own sauce or dip. It's nice to see a black owned restaurant on the upper east side. Overall, my experience was mixed. The service was generally pretty good (though at time it was hard to flag down our waiter). The food was mostly good but I didn't like the small portions and the hush puppies were lackluster. I'd like to visit on a day that they have live music. Maybe the ambience will be more upbeat.

Hands down one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The ambiance, the food, the staff, the cocktails, etc... everything was superb! The Southern Street Corn and The Crispy Cornmeal Short Rib were my favorites.

Everything was delicious and flavorful and not a bad price overall! Service was on the slow side but it was a holiday and they seemed understaffed. Cocktails were delicious, okay wines. Would definitely be back!

Delicious and very filling brunch spot. We walked in midday on a Saturday (off-peak hours) and were seated immediately. It wasn't super crowded, but the ambiance was cute with a flower wall and lots of seating. I can imagine it's happening during peak time! Our waitress was very sweet and gave us some good recommendations from the menu. We ended up picking the fried chicken and French toast, along with the sausage and egg sandwich (on a biscuit). Portions were plentiful, and we left feeling satisfied. Food was quite yummy too, especially the chicken omg. Would return for happy hour some time!

The bananas foster here was ANGELIC. My amazing friend who lives nearby took me here and when I say that I was stunned by how good the bananas foster was especially in the UES?? Truly one of the best dessert finds in the city this year. There was a gentle crunch with that smooth sweet ice cream and those beautifully caramelized mouthwatering bananas I meannnnnn Run don't walk to try their bananas foster. It is something soooo special!

3.5 stars but rounding up because I need to try more things. Chard and artichoke dip: 3/10; don't get me wrong, the taste was good, but only if you wanted to eat a massive bowl of béchamel. That's all this is, béchamel with cream. Soup consistency, no artichokes to be seen. Get something else. Black eye pea and grain salad: 9/10; if you're looking for a filling salad, this is perfect, I really liked it Fried chicken sandwich: he gave it a 7.5/10; said his bun was charred and the sandwich was good but not out of this world tasty. Cajun fries: 10/10; hard to do fries wrong Cornbread: for me 8/10 for him 7/10; he said it was t sweet enough, I don't need my cornbread super sweet, it tastes really heavy tho with all the butter so I recommend you order to split Vibes: kinda confusing, it has TVs like a sports bar but the menu and decor is way nicer than a sports bar and then they had a live DJ spinning tunes. It was empty, which was odd, maybe it was too hot out. Service: no complaints.

This is an UES restaurant serving southern food. Atmosphere was nice - appropriate for meeting with friends, family, and dates. If you are looking for something new or different in UES, then this is a good place since this is the only place serving southern food in UES (to my knowledge). If you are looking for outstanding southern food, look elsewhere. Had two small plates and a large plate: - fried okra: a small bowl of okras that were sliced, overfried in batter, and overly salted, so ultimately there may have been only ~6 (definitely no more than 10) okras. Not worth it for the price and taste. - Swiss chard and artichoke dip: served with crostini on the side. Actually the best dish of the night given the mediocrity of the other dishes. - Cajun fried chicken sando: buttermilk fried chicken was tender but overly salty. There were only pickles in the sandwich; no lettuce, tomato, etc. It came with either fries with Cajun spice or salad. The fries were a mistake - overly fried and salted. Overall, the food were overly salted; my party of two actually drank ~3 bottles of water given the saltiness and we were often waiting for a refill of the bottle. This restaurant did not live up to its appearance. Be wary if you are seeking good southern food. Will not come back again.

Not sure if this is new, or if I just never noticed it before. But this is such a cute spot for happy hour drinks or a dinner date. The cocktails were simple, but delicious. And we can never say no to any sort of happy hour food deal. (The best part is on Wednesdays HH is all nighr)

Really enjoyed my food and the service. As a person who often dines alone, I like sitting at the bar with a book. The bartender was super kind and provided excellent service. I had their Espresso Yourself and Green-Eyed Bandit for drinks. Sometimes espresso martinis can be too sweet -- this one was not! I waffled back and forth on what to eat and ended up going with the Cajun Fried Chicken sandwich. Yall, it was HUGE. I had to cut it in quarters to successfully get bites into my mouth. It came out HOT (temperature). It was a mix of dark and white meats, well battered, and juicyyyyy. I generally don't like fries with seasoning but I ate all of the Cajun fries!!!! I brought home my leftover sandwich and it was even better the next day. Don't ask me how that's possible but it was. I'd definitely recommend getting an extra side of their remix sauce for this one. Overall, a great time! I'm excited to go back and try the burger. The woman next to me had it and said it was incredible!!!!!

This lovely new addition to the Upper East Side offers a cozy interior design and a simple menu featuring essential American-style brunch options perfect for a slow weekend late morning. For our first visit, we tried the steak, brunch burger, French toast with fried chicken, and mac & cheese--all delicious. Their Bloody Mary is one of the best in the neighborhood.

Hollybrook Lane (NYC UES) - Easy Like Sunday Morning For context, I rarely write reviews or photograph food. I stopped by Hollybrook Lane for brunch yesterday and left thoroughly impressed. I had the "Yorkville" and ordered Cajun Wings and Mac & Cheese for my son, who was home watching . Both were delicious, and I can't wait to try the rest of the menu! Originally from Houston, where some of the best restaurants in the country are located, I am visiting my son, who lives nearby. This Upper East Side spot offers Southern-inspired comfort food with a modern twist, an inviting atmosphere, and something for everyone. The vibe is elevated by curated music and expertly crafted cocktails, making it ideal for dining and late-night listening. It's the kind of spot where you feel at home, catching up with friends, enjoying a solo meal, or soaking in the game-day energy. Whether you're a brunch enthusiast or just searching for a great neighborhood spot, Hollybrook Lane is definitely worth a visit!

The biggest question then became, where to go? We needed a place that was relatively easy to get to that would hold close to 100 people. Jungly was a contender for several reasons - it's location, size, vibe, and menu all seemed to check off. It also helped that I had done business with the owner previously at one of his other spots. It seemed like the natural choice, so I went ahead with the booking. Jungly is located in LIC - it's a pretty convenient spot as its close to the LIRR and the subway. Parking can be a challenge, but luckily I found a spot only a block away. The space itself is nicely set up - walking in you're immediately greeted by the bar area with dining areas both to the left and the right. Due to our size, they closed the place to the public and we were able to freely roam the bar area and one of the dining rooms. In addition to standard tables, they have some lounge space and high tops by the bar. The vibe is somewhat modern - a black/grey color scheme paired with neon and golds. It looks like the space could easily be converted to a club-like atmosphere. Since we were here for a private event, the food was set up buffet style - we chose three apps, four mains, and two sides. Ultimately, for apps we chose pita bread with dips, steak tacos, and shrimp tacos. For mains we chose fried chicken sliders, smashed beef sliders, cacio e pepe, and roasted chicken. For sides, we got fries and Brussels sprouts. In general, all of the food was tasty; the strongest dishes were the tacos, fries, and the chicken tacos. The tacos were generously filled, the fries were the crispy skin style, and the chicken sliders were nice and crispy. The weakest for me was the cacio e pepe - not much flavor and just not really a standout IMO. My communication with management to set up the event were a little staccato, though in the end everything worked out. For the most part, my communication with them was consistent in the days leading up to the event. Service the night of the event was overall good - they were very accessible but I found that they could have replenished the food a little faster in response to the rate it was being taken from the buffet. The bar, on the other hand, was great - both in service and variety of liquor available. Overall, we had a great event at Jungly. They were professional, fair, and delivered on the goods. I would definitely consider hosting another event there, or dine here on my own.

The bartender, the one person who should be welcoming and engaging, came across as rude and lacked any charisma. On a Friday night, good energy behind the bar makes a huge difference, and that was completely missing. I ordered a margarita, which is one of the simplest and most common cocktails to make. I asked for it really sweet with plenty of salt on the rim. Instead, it came out barely sweet and with almost no salt. For a $17 margarita, I expected much better. I've had to return the drink because I've had better margaritas for $12 at other places. While waiting for my friend, I had to wait with a glass of water because I didn't trust the way they made the drink. The bartender told me I either needed to order another drink or move, which felt unnecessarily rude and unwelcoming. To be fair, the food was good and the space itself is nice. However, the bar service left a very poor impression. There are plenty of more affordable places where the staff are friendly and make guests feel welcome. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend this place. Give this place a 6.5
