    Small Deep-Spinach Margherita
    Jeffrey S.

Gino's East on the Magnificent Mile was absolutely worth the visit. We waited about 45 minutes for a table, and it was well worth it. The Deep Dish Spinach Margherita Pizza was outstanding! Perfectly cooked, loaded with flavor, and exactly what you hope for when you're in Chicago looking for authentic deep dish pizza. The atmosphere was fantastic, with a full bar, plenty of TVs showing the games, and a fun, energetic vibe throughout the restaurant. What really stood out was how friendly and welcoming the staff and overall environment felt. If you're visiting Chicago and want great deep-dish pizza in a lively setting, Gino's East is a must-stop. We'll definitely be back!

We had a 5:45pm reservation on a Friday evening for 9 people. When we walked in, there was some confusion. It did seem like they had given our reservation to another party but they quickly fixed the mistake and got us a table. The waiter was very attentive and made sure that our drinks were always filled. He did let us know that thin crust pizza would take about 45 minutes and a deep dish pizza would take around an hour. So we decided to go ahead and throw in our pizza orders and appetizers. We got the stick dips and wings for appetizers. It came out super quick and was perfect timing between waiting for our pizza. Everything was great! The pizzas came out about 10 minutes after we finished our appetizers and it was perfect timing. We crushed the pizzas. We only got thin crust and each pizza was so good and delicious. 2 large pizzas and 1 medium cheese fed 5 adults and 3 kids. Great spot and pizza to check out if you are in the area!

When in Chicago, how can you miss out on deep-dish pizza? We found this old restaurant that opened in 1966, and everyone was very satisfied. I personally would give it an 8/10, but everyone else gave it a 10. Chicago Fire: The ultimate pizza with lots of cheese and tomato toppings, the first bite was incredibly satisfying. The entire pizza had only one Jalapeño pepper, the slight spiciness adding layers of flavor that was very pleasant. The only thing I wasn't used to was the thick crust; the layers were delicately flaky, but not crispy, instead powdery like a soft cookie. Besides the butter, it had no other flavor, and it felt cloying even at first bite. Legendary Hand-rolled Spinach Mozzarella Sticks: The crust was crispy, the filling was stringy, and the salsa was refreshing and helped cut through the richness. However, the spinach flavor was barely noticeable. The ambiance was interesting; everyone could scribble on the walls, sofas, tables... anywhere you looked. A sixty-year-old historical memory and public space.

Had a good time here with friends while passing thru Chicago. The pizza sauce was great, loved the flavor of the sausage, I just wish the deep-dish crust was more buttery in flavor! The salads were good and a great, light start to our heavy orders of deep dish pizzas. Spacious restaurant, was a busy start to their day Saturday morning.

Ambiance: An extremely cool upper floor and lower floor seating area for all types of pizza, pasta, and various appetizers. There is an ice cream shop on the lower floor which is a standalone business from the pizza shop itself. Wait time: Can be a bit long waiting for around 20-30 minutes outside and if you order deep dish 50+ minutes upon sitting down. Service: The server seemed sporadic and stressed from the tables he was having to wait on. There were multiple times where the wrong food was brought to our table or he brought drinks that were not ones that we ordered which did seem awkward. Food: The thin crust pizza was good but toppings seemed scarce around the outside of the pizza itself but the toppings did taste good. The deep dish pizza was okay but the crust was slightly dry around the bottom and sides of the pizza. The toppings and sauce were both extremely good and tasteful on the pizza itself.

Came in shortly after 12 and waited in line outside, got seated pretty quickly. Got sat down and greeted right away and was advised of the current deep dish and thin crust order times. 40 to an hour for a deep dish pizza. We asked which pizzas to try and pointed out 2 and turns out you can split your pizza in half! So we tried the supreme and the Chicago fire pizza in a small deep dish. Our appetizer came out first, which was the spinach mozzarella sticks. These were super light with a thin crunchy exterior! Super yum and didn't feel heavy afterwards. Our pizza came out after 30-40ish minutes, didn't keep much attention to time since we were snacking on mozzarella sticks and playing Pokemon Go. The pizza was surprisingly also very light! The cheese is fantastic and toppings blended well in the pizza. The Chicago fire was a lot cheesier than the supreme, so I choose that one over the other. The crust and breading is very tasty as well, think of a biscuit crossed with pan pizza dough. Our server, Andrew, was super attentive and checked up on us often. Most of the servers are running around and tending to their customers as well so I'm sure customer service is focused heavily at this place. Overall we had a fantastic experience and will be back when we come back to town!

Great pizza , cool interior. We went in about 2pm on Friday so no crowds . The small plus a salad was perfect and obviated the need for dinner

First time visiting Chicago and we had to try authentic Chicago deep dish pizza, so we stopped by Gino's East. The food was excellent. We ordered buffalo wings, mozzarella spinach cheese sticks, Caesar salad, cheesy fries, drinks, and both meat and veggie pizzas. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and worth the wait. The atmosphere was really fun and welcoming. One of the coolest parts was being able to write on the walls with chalk. The staff was friendly and the overall experience was great. Definitely a spot to check out if you're visiting Chicago.

Blake was server and he was amazing, having only lived in Chicago for 2 years he was ready to give an honest take on where to go, of course after rattling off his favorite items on the menu. The menu is simple, sandwiches, I had the eggplant with fries, great sub but clearly frozen crinkle cut fries with no seasoning...give me fresh cut if you are going to wow with deep dish. The pizzas are worth the wait, 20 for traditional thin crust or 45 minutes for deep dish. The i terror is a unique blend of corner bar covered in graffiti meets iconic Chicago pizza parlor, from the first floor dining room flanked with a full bar to the upstairs with traditional booths. Don't skip the ice cream nook on your way out, 3 flavors one cone. Great staff and authentic pie.

I arrived around 12pm on a Tuesday with my two sons. This was about a 6 minute walk from my hotel. We were told wait in a line that would be 10-15 minutes. We were sat around 8 minutes later in the upstairs area. The waitress came over with waters after a few minutes. We ordered around 12:15pm. We all got the lunch mini deep dish special with fries and a drink. The fries came at 12:27pm and we are told it would be 7 more minutes for the pizza. The pizza came at 12:38pm. My sons enjoyed the pizza. It was pretty good but not the best pizza I've had. The cheese pull was impressive! I will note that it was very filling and the portion size of the fries was generous! Customer service was good, no complaints there. I wish they had a lunch special for the tavern style pizza as I wanted to try that but not get a whole one. Prior to me deciding to get lunch here, I saw so many mixed reviews on social media about which pizza place (and what style) here in Chicago is the best; I've decided that I'm going to try a different pizza place for each of the 5 days I'm here!

Delicious! I love the cornmeal crust! Came with a friend on a Monday for dinner (had a reservation but probably didn't need one). The pizza's are quite large and very filling. I really enjoyed their sausage patties- I like how peppery they are. So cheesy and delicious- the crust really helps this deep dish pizza standout. Overall, I would highly recommend their pizza!

First of all, best mozzarella sticks I've ever had. So crunchy and delicious, absolutely perfect. Pizza was awesome, got the combo. Pictures didnt do it justice- I dont think Chicago deep dishes photograph as well as cheesy pizzas, but loved it. Spaghetti was a hit and also very good. Top notch food, Chicago at its finest!

First time in Chicago, got off the plane and headed here! Did not disappoint ! Fun vibes, great service and glad I came here as it's their 60th year! We ordered the mozzarella sticks , light and cheesy and the deep dish with pepperoni. YUM! The dough was nice like a pastry and the sauce was so good!!! Wish I had room for dessert! I made a video on my Instagram @thegoodfoxlife for more !

Is the deep dish pizza the same that you buy frozen?
