Our family loves deep dish pizza and when you're in Chicago you MUST try Lou Malnalti's. The pizzas are so good and I've never experienced bad service. Always friendly. The location on Michigan Avenue is a great place and close to numerous other attractions. The interior is spacious with plenty of seats, still, make reservations as this place is popular!

Came with a friend. The famous Lou Malnati's! You really need to make a reservation or be prepared to wait an hour. Bar seats first come first serve. We did that. We got lucky. We got 2 small pizzas - one thin one deep. My friend preferred the thin crust Mike's hot honey. I preferred the deep dish classic. Great crust on each. Very much worth the hype. Obviously local chains are also very good but you gotta try Lou's!

First time for myself. What a treat. Deep dish Mike's Hot Honey. Perfect blend of crisp pepperoni and sweetness of the honey. Dough is nicely crisp and light. Bonus is that even being a deep dish, the dough is crisp. Love that!! Ceasar salad served family style was a great blend of dressing and romaine lettuce. And we loved the ravioli crisp. Nice amount of cheese within a round crispy pasta with very tasty marinara This place is one everyone needs to go and experience

Oh boy, what can I say about it. I love Chicago style pizza. It was absolutely delicious. The service is good and the atmosphere was nice. I also like the lighting in the restaurant. We came at a busy it was around 5pm and it took about 35 to 40 minutes for us to get our pizza. But the waiter did tell us that it was going to be a wait so we expected that. If you've never been to Chicago, This is a must try restaurant..

The deep dish at Lou's isn't too heavy and the crust is light and on the thinner side. The small pizza is perfect for two people to share. I had the Chicago Classic and there wasn't too much meat on the pizza. The Malnati salad was absolutely incredible and worth a visit just for it. The salad is slightly sweet, and has the perfect combination of blue cheese, crunchy bites, crisp greens, and other toppings. The personal size is huge and easily sharable between 2-3 people. The garlic bread needed more flavor, but the garlic marinara sauce it comes with was awesome. Make a reservation ahead of time as there were a lot of people waiting for a table on the weekend. They suggest calling to preorder your pizza ahead of time so the wait in-person isn't as long since the pizza takes a while to bake, but I tried calling a few times and was on hold for 25 minutes and wasn't able to get connected to anyone.

It's been about a decade since I was in Chicago last, and I had myself a hankering for some deep dish. As I was traveling solo I took advantage of the personal size deep dish pizza, and tried the Mike's Hot Honey. I ordered for a 7:30 pickup, and got there just on time. Just on time to wait 10 more minutes it would seem. Once I finally got my personal pizza which is about the size of my hand, I high-tailed it back the quarter mile to my hotel to eat it before it got cold. It did stay warm, and I ate it without even cutting it. It definitely had some spice to it. I enjoyed the pizza, and despite what looked like a pretty small size, it was actually plenty of food. A little pricey, just over $15. While I enjoyed it for what it was, it's not as good as I remember. I'm not sure if it's because of the smaller size or if deep dish just isn't what it used to be to me.

The restaurant was nicely decorated. We ordered to go and the guy who took our order was very kind. Took 40 minutes to get our pizza. First time trying deep dish pizza and it was delicious! The classic had the sausage on top and was super flavorful. Had a great crust and sauce. Also taste great as leftovers!

The pizza here is amazing. Very fresh, Big, and deep dish. Lots of different options for toppings. My favorite was the pizza with a lot of different meats, including bacon, sausage and ham. They do not stamp out on the portions of protein on the pizza. It was Cool how the servers would serve us slices at tableside. Everything was so fresh. The cheese was super cheesy. I got full off of only two slices. A good paying for your book. The salads were also good. Very big portions. It was pretty loud though inside. There were lots of people. Almost all the tables were taken. Very popular place. Would love to come back when I am in town visiting again.

Second time in Chicago, but first time at a Lou Malnati's which many of my friends/colleagues have spoken about and told me that I must go here. Well I did ladies and gents. I was staying at the Sheraton less than a mile away and opted to come visit this spot as folks told me to go get a Chicago style pizza when I visit and they recommended this spot. Which is funny, because my friend who is from Chicago told me he barely goes once a year to this locatio. The location itself is very bustling and busy. The bar is at the front and there are so many spots to sit around the back. The servers are wonderful and very upbeat. Pizzawise, i was expecting something more. I got both a pepperoni and a cheese pizza with the group and it just didn't hit the spot. There was too much sauce and the dough tasted a bit stale for a lack of a better word.

First stop in Chicago, and it had to be deep dish and this spot delivered exactly what we were hoping for. There was about a 45-minute wait, but it was absolutely worth it. We ordered the small Mike's Hot Honey pizza and the Chicken Louie. The hot honey struck the perfect balance, slightly sweet with just a mild kick, without being overpowering. The Chicken Louie was rich, cheesy, and incredibly satisfying exactly what you want when indulging in cheesy pasta. Service really elevated the experience. Our server was attentive without being overbearing, checking in on us multiple times and making sure everything came out just right. Overall, a great first introduction to Chicago's deep dish scene. If it's your first time, this is definitely a solid place to start.

A trip to Chicago wouldn't have felt complete without trying the famous deep-dish pizza at Lou Malnati's. Every time I walked along the Riverwalk, I saw a huge crowd waiting outside, and I'd heard the wait could be up to two hours which is crazy!! To avoid the rush, I came on a weekday around 3:30 p.m. Even then, there was still about a 30-minute wait. Since I was dining solo, I was able to grab the last open seat at the bar, which worked out perfectly. The bartender was friendly, took my order right away, and gave me a heads-up that the deep-dish pizzas take at least 40 minutes to bake. I was expecting that, so I didn't mind the wait. One thing that really stood out was how massive the restaurant is. Even at 4 p.m. on a weekday, it was packed and the staff was constantly on the move. I ordered the small Margherita Pesto deep-dish pizza because I wanted to have leftovers for my flight later that day. The pizza was definitely different from any pizza I'd had before, and it was incredibly filling. Since this was my first deep-dish pizza, I can't really comment on how authentic it was, but I enjoyed it and was glad I had enough left over for another meal. Im happy I finally got to try one of Chicago's iconic deep-dish spots.

I thought this was the perfect deep dish. Not too deep, and perfect buttery crust. I ordered it for delivery and when it came, it was still kinda warm which is great (though I was only 1 mile away haha). Now, I made it buttercrust and added full pepperoni and full sausage pieces. That ended up being the perfect amount of stuff to add for me. The size was perfect for personal, and I was extremely satisfied afterwards. For delivery, I would highly recommend.

Visiting Chicago on business for the first time, I decided to try a Chicago quintessential food, the deep dish pizza. For many years I would see the current owner of this chain on morning talk shows and TV food shows espousing the gospel that is Chicago deep dish. Now. I realized there are a lot of opinions about who makes the best pie in this city. I was considering Pequods, Giordano's, Pizzeria Uno (mainly because it was the first) and Lou's. I went with Lou's mainly because of how enthusiastic the owner was on tv. Also, I know they can ship these pizzas frozen and if I liked it, I could order one to be delivered. After 30+ years of waiting to try it, here is my review. What a total disappointment. The pizza was garbage. I think Lou has drunk too much of his Kool-aid. Do I blame him for being a hype man? No. So, let's start with the ambiance of this location. The chairs are mismatched with the cushioning cracking on several of the chairs. Music that is loud. The place is otherwise clean. Now, let's talk about service I checked in for lunch. There was a 10 to 15 minute wait which seemed very reasonable. They pointed out there was zero wait at the bar. I also heard that the pizza takes 35 minutes to bake. I heard the host mentioned this to other people checking in that they could pre-order and cut down the wait time once you are seated. However, it was not mentioned to me and when I got up to get in the preorder line, there wasn't even anybody there taking pre-orders. I was sat down. I ordered the "express" deep dish pizza lunch. I don't know why they called express when it takes the same amount of time. After 10 minutes, they brought the side salad, which looked like it was made earlier that day. They also served it on a plate that was too small for the salad. Why am I saying it's too small? They serve it with whole rings of red onion that are thick and pretty much something that I think it should be cut. However, when you cut it, the salad flew off of the plate. The croutons tasted stale, which in retrospect does not surprise me. Now, onto the actual pizza. I think this is one of those Regional dishes that you just grow up eating and loving and defending. I grew up in California. I have lived in New York. The best way I can describe the crust is a stale Ritz cracker. The tomatoes, tomato sauce, cheese, and toppings taste like nothing special. It was good enough and I'm full. I was also disappointed that they did not serve the pizza in the iron pan but instead put it on a plate that was again too small. The butter knife they serve it with is not really sharp enough to cut through the stale crust. When I tried cutting into it, it slipped off the plate. Now, back to the service, I was not really checked on it all by my server. The only thing that happened was they gave me my check right away. Bottom line: Would I go back? No. Would I recommend it to my friends or family visiting the area? No I would tell them to try another place and report back.
