Even though I called Jerome's cell phone and not the bakery's phone- he was so kind, patient, professional and sweet. I needed the cake within 2 days and he delivered. It was gorgeous, affordable, and he went out of his way to make it more creative and unique by adding flowers to the cake- after consulting with me of course, (the person for whom the cake was for, her name was Daisy)- adorable! Having just had a massive lunch at Antonio's, I only bought two of the mini cannolis for myself (regular shell with chocolate chip filling). Hours later as I ate them, this turned out to be a mistake. The filling of the cannoli was creamy, rich and delicious, perfectly contrast against the fried shell. Stopped in Gino's Pastry Shop on an Arthur Avenue road trip. After our group left we felt like we were part of the owner, Jerome's family for years. Jerome is called the "Cannoli King" and he truly lives up to that name. Outstanding!!! Don't forget to order one of their really delicious cappuccino's or if you prefer, espresso to go with that cannoli. Of course, there are other pastry's in this authentic Italian pastry but you owe it to yourself to give the cannoli a try. After all, you are in the presence of the King. Dear Jerome and Gino's Bakery, I thought you might like to see a photo of the horrible cake you sent for our bridal shower. This has absolutely no resemblence to the beautiful photo we sent to you as a guide. The cupcakes were so small that the final result didn't look like a cake at all...the frosting didn't totally cover them and did not resemble the elegant swirls of the original. And you added silver sprinkles and a tacky rhinestone ornament which were not requested in our order. Despite the several conversations by phone, the cake, which was supposed to be orchid color, was white, on an orchid board. But while that was disappointing, the fact that the tiny cupcakes were inedible with that oily crisco frosting and disgusting cannoli filling, not to mention the cake mix you used for the cake, rendered this very expensive gift (I ordered for the bride) a total disaster! You should be ashamed of yourselves. No one should be served a cake like this!!! THIS WAS THE WORST! We chose it based on your reviews...is this even the same bakery"? Our first time in the Arthur Avenue district and this was our top pick. Was nicely greeted by Jerome another women as well as a sweet Italian woman. We came in for the Cannoli's which were filled before our eyes with the freshest filling I have ever had. We chose the chocolate shell that was thickly dipped in chocolate and hardens to this incredible crunchy rich shell. Jerome was generous in putting on lots of pistachio's on the ends of the cannoli's . Also bought the tarralli (Italian pepper cookies) they were good but nothing to write home about. Maybe it is just me but I like lots of pepper. Topped it off with a mini cream pastry that was so moist yet flakey and the filling very fresh. My wife and I were looking for a great bakery to do our wedding cake. It was disappointment after disappointment until we came upon Gino's. The baker/owner Jerome welcomed us in sat down with us and gave us plenty of ideas on what we could do and from the there the rest was history because we were sold. He was able to do a three tier cake for us, top tier was cannoli filling & the remaining two were vanilla & chocolate custard filling. Lets not forget that the cannolis by themselves are amazing and last but not least how welcoming Jerome is along withi his lovely mother.
