The kind where the owner/master baker sits at a desk right in the back that is piled high with papers and all kinds of stuff that has accumulated over the years as he peers out from behind and holds court. Many of the locals come and go and chat with him and the friendly staff. Very homey kind of place that is a throwback to the old school bakeries of the past. The kind that my great aunts and uncles in Brooklyn took me to as a child. Wonderful homemade pastries and cakes back then, and emulated here quite well. No wonder I was a fat kid! Also, just walk in to see all the celebrity pics, WWE wrestler photos, and well known notables hanging on the wall. Many autographed, and many with the owner. The dude knows them all. My daughter got married in Charleston, SC and thought it would be great if we could have cannolis and Italian cookies from my "old neighborhood" at the wedding. Our experience with Jerome and Joanne was fantastic. Really an ol'school Bronx experience. I came here with my mom and her friends and we had cappuccino and a cannoli . Joanne and Jerome were so awesome. We didn't even want to leave. I wound up taking 2 dozen mini pastries home and did I forget to mention the donnoli's (cannoli creamed stuffed donuts). My first time in Little Italy in the Bronx and wanted to try get the best pastries and breads to go. The internet said Gino's is famous so I ended up getting almost $50 worth of cakes and cookies from there. It was a huge hit, I particularly loved the tiramisu, probably amongst the best I've ever had. The quality of the cakes remind me of the ones I got in Europe, not too sweet like typical American pastries, but really creamy and rich. The owners are also really nice and funny and was chatting with all the customers. Definitely would come back if I'm in the area and I'd recommend Gino's to everyone. read more

Ordered a cake for my sons birthday. The printout I did for them to place on cake came out the way I printed, that was the only positive. The cake was suppose to be chocolate and strawberry' filling. All my guest and the birthday boy including all three out the cake after a couple of bites. It was utterly disgusting. The choclate had a weird taste to it. There seem to be lemon paste or some citrus in between the layers and the strawberry was mixed with some kind of pudding or custard. The cake was tasteless. The only taste were from the weird filling. I will never buy cake from here again. Although it was affordable. $50 for a small cake is pretty average in New York but for a good tasting cake! Go to magnolia or any midtown place. It will taste much better and it'll be the same price. read more

I met Jerome back in 2012 through Maestros when he was the one at the time responsible for providing the cake that came with my contract for my 30th birthday party. The cake was a fondant black and silver pillow on the outside and a red velvet cake with cream cheese filling that tasted absolutely AMAZINGGGGG. Welll my birthday party turned out to be my engagement party and fast forward almost 7 years later I decided that I would have my wedding at Maestros and was very disappointed to hear that Jerome would not be included in my contract. With that being said I asked for his contact again because he did such an amazing job for my birthday with the cake, I must have him make my wedding cake. On Sunday Jan 20, 2019 I got married and had a beautiful 3 tier, winter wonderland, blue velvet with cream cheese filling wedding cake that EVERYONE loved. 4 Stars because I loved my cream puffs and my bf liked his cannolis but they lose a star because my mother in law wasn't a fan of their cookies. According to her they were chewy and bland, not as almond cookies should taste. So come here for the puffs and the cannolis but skip the cookies! read more
