Jerome kicked off a series of events that day that made our time in the Little Italy of the Bronx unforgettable. He even made a reservation at Enzo's for our group of 7 for a bit later that day. Try the sfogliatella too - a shell-shaped pastry with custard creme that is just delicious! My wife and friends visited Gino's Pastry Shop on Saturday, May 25th, 2024. We got to meet Gino and Joanne who are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet. I am 100% Italian so this place felt like home. The pastries are so incredibly delicious. We had sfogliatelle, lemon cookies, canoli, cream puffs and we topped the night off with espresso! All of this was to "die for" it was so good! Gino had so many stories to tell and Joanne could fill in all of the blanks. This is such a cozy spot and the woman at the counter was so kind. I ordered a lobster tail with cannoli cream and it was probably the best I've ever had. I didn't know that adding sambuca to espresso was a thing that people did but they recommended it to my friend and it made all the sense in the world to me after I took a sip. Words cannot describe how seemingly unassuming this place is and yet, the pastries are amazingly delicious. I was seriously not expecting much when I walked in. The walls were outdated and it looked like a time wrap to the "good old days". The woman behind the counter was so friendly. Despite looking tired, she sincerely put in an effort to maintain an engaging conversation. It was such a pleasant touch that I had to write this review about them. The final test was when I brought them to my family's house. All the pastries were a hit. The pignoli cookies were amazing, the cannoli was the best I ever had in my life and the rum babas were inspirational. I am so glad that I stumbled along this place. "Leave the gun. Take the cannoli" That classic Godfather line speaks volumes on the widespread love for cannoli. Wish I shared in it. I really do. Truth is, I'd rather have a rainbow cookie, or better still, a sfogliatella. But when in Rome, or in this case, an Arthur Avenue icon renowned for its cannoli, you don't say 'No.' Not if you know what's good for you. Jk. Anyway, of course, I tried a cannoli. Couldn't decide between dipping the ends in chopped pistachios or mini chocolate chips, so went with one of each. The latter was my favorite. 'Cause chocolate. Duh. Ricotta cream filling was ultra-smooth and milky; almost runny, like condensed milk. I found myself longing for more ricotta flavor and even a hint of graininess from that. Love that they fill their cannoli to order here, thereby eliminating the possibility of winding up with a soggy shell. And the tiny cafe space, just in case you feel like lingering to cap off your cannoli with an espresso, has a certain throwback charm... But this particular cannoli didn't win my heart. Maybe that's because it belongs to another. Thankfully, I don't live close to this bakery. Because if I did I'd have to visit twice a day! Truly, the best Italian bakery anywhere. First I started with the cheesecake. A true Italian cheesecake is often impossible to find. Many try to pass off lesser products as the real thing. But not at Gino's. He bakes them himself and as I ate my first forkful I knew that I would never eat Italian cheesecake anywhere but here. So good ! We had to take another slice home with us. And 2 cannolis dipped in pistachios. And a sfogliatella. Nobody can say that word correctly let alone bake I so authentically. Then I saw the baba rum filled with delicious custard, topped with the classic maraschino cherry. We just sampled all of it and we are amazed and grateful that someone named Gino is keeping up with Italy's long history of baking delicious pastries and doing it on such a high standard. I've been to Gino's many times as a former Fordham student but I can no longer support them as the owner was violent and aggressive toward my good friend. He was raising chairs at her as if we going to throw them at her all for feeding the birds outside, something she's been doing for years. Well we final got to try out Gino's cannoli we purchase three chocolate covered, they were five stars plus !!!! The best we ever had , we eat them three days later and still we're crispy not soggy like other spots . Amazing people ! The owner and staff are so nice and great to talk too. The Store is nothing fancy just a hole in the wall shop . Parking is on the street and hard to find . Watch out for the old crazy women throwing rice to the pigeon which is so annoying and her foul mouth too. I am surprised the good Italian people of the area doesn't take care of her !! read more

The rainbow cookies. Oh my god the rainbow cookies. I am a serious lover of these and Gino's does them right. Half a pound of these babies will run you about $7. They are worth every penny. Gino's doesn't look like much from either the outside or the inside. It's a bit worn looking but they still have plenty of fresh goodies to choose from.
