Pizza was ok, nothing special. Service was great- friendly and some smiles. I think this places focuses on repeat local customers which is fine- they might be used to the size of the pizza here but for us this place just comes off cheap. MAKE A REAL LARGE PIZZA & I dont care if you charge me $30-40. Just don't tell me what you gave me is a large and think I feel like I got a great deal for getting a "large pizza" with "8" slices for about $20. Essentially you wasted my time. Had I know their large pizza is an industry small pizza I would have ordered 2 and said cut each pizza into 4 slices each. When they handed me the box on my way out I knew instantly this was going to be a small pizza with children's size mini slices. Just a waste of my time I don't really care about the $20. Just don't lie to me and tell me it's a large and 8 slices. It's a small or "personal" pizza and should just be 4 slices. This place has probably been enjoying no competition for the entirety of their existence. As soon as this area of the heights turns the corner (& there are no more "Discount Stores" on every corner") a REAL pizza operator is going to open up shop in Jersey City Heights and this place will have to step it up or step aside. This pizza place had that old school pizzaria vibe, (cool 80's tables) that I like but the whitewashed decor looses the vibe and offers no coziness or comfort. The white paint gives it a sterile feel like you're in a hospital cafeteria. The pizza seemed a little bit more like lower quality dollar pizza more so than anything. Maybe this is because I'm used to NY & NJ high quality pizza. This place definitely wins the award for SMALLEST large pizza I've ever bought. 8 slices is a laugh! Sure it was cut into 8 slices lmao but it really should have just been cut into 4. That way you'd have 4 normal slices of pizza. I can't stress it enough, buyers and pizza lovers beware- their large is essentially a SMALL pizza. When I got back to my friend's house with that pie we all laughed.

A local pizzeria located in The heights and is one of the best ones in the area! The pizzeria is pretty small but they also have a restaurant adjoining it. While the ambiance of the pizzeria is simple the service is quick and the staff is friendly. I wanted to try the calzone and when I asked the staff they happily guided me through. I went with grilled chicken along with olives and onions as fillings inside the calzone. Never thought it would be so huge in size, definitely filling enough while the calzone was baked to perfection, I wish the grilled chicken had a bit of seasoning which would have helped it a lot. Usually I have tried out their pizzas which are good but it was good to try something new for a change!

Would this be a great start to the new year!? PURCHASE Pizza insalata 16" Large Pizza ($23.00): This 8-slice pie was made with shredded parmesan cheese, fresh mozzarella cheese, arugula salad, cherry tomatoes, red onions, prosciutto, and a balsamic glaze all atop an airy light puffy crust, this had all the feels of Italy and I loved it! Unless I made a special trip before my vacation was over, this section will be left incomplete. ATTIRE Temperatures were in the 30s, so I was bundled-up from head-to-toe. Otherwise, this place was totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. Pizzas here have a lot of good quality toppings. I ordered the Sicilian and Special Pizza. The Special Pizza was great! The Sicilian is similar to a cheese pizza with a lot of tomato sauce but the taste was ok only, not like the one you would crave for. Meatballs were good but a bit plain. Overall, great value for the money spent though. We were so full and had a lot of leftover food and only have to pay 10 dollars for each person.

Personal fave in The Heights never disappoints. Super fresh and flavorful as always. Normally I get the buffalo slice or penne allá vodka. This time I opted for the grilled chicken pesto on focaccia with mozzarella. It was a great portion and the bread was the perfect texture for a cold day in January. Nice family run joint here in jersey city. Food is fast, hot and delicious. The space is pretty cozy so it gets packed quick and you gotta stand around. The staff are friendly and serve you quick. The prices are decent and within a good range given the area. Def recommend their chicken rolls and chicken parm. read more

$15. for a bunch of lettuce, a couple of peppers & olives, a few pieces of cheese and that's it. Ive gotten it before & it was a stacked salad, this was a disgrace along with my meatball arm sandwich, 2 meatballs on the whole thing cut in half, a sprinkle of cheese and barely any sauce. This was such a disappointment & actually seems like a joke how skimpy this order was. read more

I've ordered their pizza a few times, and it's consistently pretty good. Last night I ordered take out. Unfortunately, my experience with the eggplant pasta was the complete opposite. The dish was disappointing from the start--tiny, paper-thin pieces of breaded eggplant and overcooked ziti that had no texture left. Worse, it had virtually no flavor at all. It honestly tasted like they forgot even basic seasoning like salt. I tried fixing it at home, but the mushy pasta and bland eggplant were beyond saving. read more

I've always loved pizza, but it's become a once a week habit due to my current condition. Gino's has come in on a clutch on a couple of late night occasions (returning from the city) and even planned meals. I've ordered plain and white slices. More recently, I ordered penne pasta with Alfredo sauce and broccoli via UE, and was pleasantly surprised. The food is always consistent. What I especially love is Gino's does not use garlic unnecessarily. The flavors are good and fresh! read more

Our favorite pizza spot in Jersey City! The Brooklyn slice with buffalo wings is always fresh and hits the spot. My fiancé even brought a box back to LA, and her nephew called it the best pizza he's ever had. That says it all! read more

Great stop if you're looking for delicious pizza and more. Their mussels are one of my favorite things on the menu and you can't go wrong with an order of garlic knots. I recommend the Margherita pizza with fresh mozzarella. Only thing about Gino's Pizzeria is the inconsistency sometimes. Last time I went my pizza was slightly undercooked which was really out of the ordinary. read more

my GO-TO pizza in jersey city area! Found this place because my job orders from here anytime we want to cater lunch, or even just get a pie or something small. Since then, it's been my consistent go-to at home when I want to order pizza. All of their pasta trays/mozz sticks are great, always fresh, no complaints! Their pizza, stromboli, garlic knots and wings are a staple in my order and I've never had a bad experience! Never been into the location but delivery has always been fast and seamless. read more

I left a review over 6 years ago, as I'm from Houston Texas. But every time I'm in New Jersey this is my pizza spot. I bring back pizza on my flight that's how delicious it is, I was there this year for Halloween to watch the Texans vs jets game and as soon as we landed I made my way to Gino's for the best pizza. I will be back march 2025 excited to come back and eat some more pizza read more

We were in the neighborhood and I was hungry that day I was craving for pizza. To my surprise Gino was there . So decided to try. Yes it's your normal everyday pizza joint. Staff were very busy but polite. Sorry couldn't take any pictures. But it's a decent pizza. I tried a slice of buffalo pizza and was little spicy but loved it. I would go back again. read more

Simply can't go wrong with Gino's. Best pizza in Hudson county for sure. Great Calzones, pasta dishes and SERVICE. Always busy so you know everything is fresh. I walk here specifically to order from them. I pass 3 other pizza spots on the way, no comparison. God bless Gino's read more

A grandma with fresh mozzarella was anything but fresh. The cheese was the worst part. Then the crust was like wet cardboard. The meal would have been a total loss outside of the eggplant rollatini providing some moderate enjoyment and the tiramisu being rather excellent. This was a delivery order that came on time. The pizza was the real disappointment. read more

I like Gino's very much but only certain things. What i like is the fried calimari the chicken Murphy the chicken Marsala the chicken cattitore. They make great buffalo wings too. What i don't like is anything inasic Italian with sauce. The lasagne the baked zitis the spaghetti. The meatballs are good the pizza is decent but the mozzarella is thick so i almost choked on it. I definitely give it 4 of 5 stars even though it sounds like I'm complaining ill order again read more

I have been a customer of Gino's for over a decade. We have gone there for special occasions and just ordered out. However their delivery service has gotten so bad that today (not the first time though) we've waited for one cheese pizza for over an hour and a half. Had I known that it would be this long- I would have driven there to pick up myself. The time they show in slice app is double what it takes. Heads up would have been nice! read more

Typical pizzeria with all that you'd expect. This place defines a proper jersey slice. Great crispy and firm bottom but nice and soft upper. Definitely would recommend grabbing a slice or two. Favorite has to be the grandma square, the brooklyn square and of course the standard plain slice. Outside of the pizza I'd definitely recommend the chicken parm sandwich (with extra sauce on the side ) read more

#thankyouthursday I've been here many times over the years. Finally an update. (Part 2)Since I'm not from this area, Finding an Italian restaurant/ pizzeria was always a big priority for us. At first it was the pizzeria side that drew me in. Mainly takeout or delivery over the years. After a year or so noticed that Gino's has a pretty large size restaurant on the side. Dined in many times since then and yes it became our date night go to spot over time. They closed for a few weeks recently, but now is reopened for takeout and delivery only. A very good Italian restaurant is rare in The Heights area. Can't wait to dine in again, so we can have our bottle of red and a bottle of white with friends again. Prices are very reasonable. Absolutely delicious! Waitress was very accommodating as my sister and I had her 2 year old grandson there and had to scadaddle pretty quickly after dinner. Eggplant parmigiana was cooked just right and not soggy. My sister had chicken parmigiana, I didn't really ask her how it was... but the dish was empty when we left! read more

The grandma pie with fresh mozz and garlic is so delicious. Delivery was prompt and the pizza arrived nice and hot. I will definitely keep ordering from here. Came here for a quick lunch bite and it was incredible! I had two Grandma slices which were soo delicious!! It was the perfect level of sauce and crispy crust. On a cold winter day this meal really hit the spot! They were making fresh garlic knots as well which were equally yummy. Overall it's a small cozy establishment with classic old school pizzeria vibes - perfect for a nice tasty meal. You can see their kitchen and the freshness of all their ingredients and cooking process - it's a great spot if ever in the area. It's mostly street parking so can get busy at times. read more

This place is top notch. Consistent, friendly, low key. My favorites that I love: chicken orzo soup, cheesesteak wrap, house salad with grilled chicken. The portions are big, and very tasty. Gino's has been my go-to neighborhood pizzeria since forever. Their specialty toppings and pies are good, but the classics are my faves. Now I don't know if the sauce in this pasta was the same as the eggplant, but I enjoyed this side pasta very much. This was a very nice meal and I would have no hesitation ordering from them again. I dined with a close relative, Tater, and this is apparently now one of Taters' favorites!

Slightly spicy but adjustable. Definitely a rice killer. The shrimp with chives had a generous amount of shrimp and tasted fresh, just needed rice to balance the saltiness. Pear soup was light and nice, not overly sweet. Service was friendly and they even mentioned you can wear hanfu in-store for photos. Overall a cozy place for winter dishes.

While ordering, they happened to bring out fresh blueberry muffins that were hard to resist. It was the best blueberry muffin I'd ever had and I still think about it to this day. The yogurt bowl was fresh, the ricotta toast light, and the breakfast plate was everything I could want in a breakfast. Although the potatoes weren't crispy, they were seasoned so well along with the mushrooms. There was a generous portion of avocado and the salad was a nice light addition. On our second visit, my husband really enjoyed his coquito latte. The turkey balt was SO good, I just wished it were served with chips. Regardless, Maggie's will definitely be a go to place for breakfast or lunch.

We ordered the calamari, ragu, truffle fries, and a porterhouse to share. We originally asked for the porterhouse cooked medium, but it unfortunately came out well done and extremely dry, so we had to send it back. Thankfully, the manager and server handled everything perfectly and completely won us back with their service. The second steak came out juicy, tender, and full of flavor - exactly how it should've been! The ragu sauce was a little too watery for my taste and probably wouldn't order that again, but the truffle fries were SO good. My friends had also reserved dinner as a birthday surprise, and the management team came out with complimentary cake and house made limoncello, which honestly ended up being one of the best alcoholic drinks of the night. Such a thoughtful touch! Service was top notch from start to finish, and I was told they even have an upstairs venue space for weddings. The outdoor venue area is absolutely beautiful. We also got a chance to check out the rooftop where they have an open bar where the views and vibes were even better! However, it's not always open to the public, so probably have to check with the restaurant beforehand. Looking to come back soon for another celebratory event!

Went to Gino's for the first time today this past Monday and the buffalo chicken pizza was amazing. So amazing in fact, that I felt a sense of guilt for wanting to keep it as my secret, which is why I am here. I am here hoping to shine a light on this establishment that provided me with such a cathartic experience as to never look at pizza the same way again. Pizza hut is now officially ruined for me. Long story short: If your in the heights and you want food, and pizza sounds like a good idea, make it the trip to Gino's. You won't regret it. read more

I have to give them five stars. I have been coming to Gino's on and off for a few years now and I have to tell you there pizza's are always fresh and garlic knots are just the way I like them. I also order the buffalo chicken slice which is pretty amazing as well. The shop is pretty clean. I know Frankie and his customer service is beyond exceptional . He's super polite and very together. Hard working man to the tea. The staff is good as well. Keep up the good work!! read more

This place is a go to spot! Their pizza taste great! I have never been disappointed. And lets not mention their great prices! My favorite is their Sicilian pie with extra pepperoni and extra sauce on the side! Yummy!! Every time we order we receive it right away, they never disappoint! Actually one of nicest bars around in the heights with great specials and a nice clean bar and great food. Get pizza from next door or anything from a full Italian place menu at a great price. Fantastic and wonderful and attentive staff. read more
