Pizza was ok, nothing special. Service was great- friendly and some smiles. I think this places focuses on repeat local customers which is fine- they might be used to the size of the pizza here but for us this place just comes off cheap. MAKE A REAL LARGE PIZZA & I dont care if you charge me $30-40. Just don't tell me what you gave me is a large and think I feel like I got a great deal for getting a "large pizza" with "8" slices for about $20. Essentially you wasted my time. Had I know their large pizza is an industry small pizza I would have ordered 2 and said cut each pizza into 4 slices each. When they handed me the box on my way out I knew instantly this was going to be a small pizza with children's size mini slices. Just a waste of my time I don't really care about the $20. Just don't lie to me and tell me it's a large and 8 slices. It's a small or "personal" pizza and should just be 4 slices. This place has probably been enjoying no competition for the entirety of their existence. As soon as this area of the heights turns the corner (& there are no more "Discount Stores" on every corner") a REAL pizza operator is going to open up shop in Jersey City Heights and this place will have to step it up or step aside. This pizza place had that old school pizzaria vibe, (cool 80's tables) that I like but the whitewashed decor looses the vibe and offers no coziness or comfort. The white paint gives it a sterile feel like you're in a hospital cafeteria. The pizza seemed a little bit more like lower quality dollar pizza more so than anything. Maybe this is because I'm used to NY & NJ high quality pizza. This place definitely wins the award for SMALLEST large pizza I've ever bought. 8 slices is a laugh! Sure it was cut into 8 slices lmao but it really should have just been cut into 4. That way you'd have 4 normal slices of pizza. I can't stress it enough, buyers and pizza lovers beware- their large is essentially a SMALL pizza. When I got back to my friend's house with that pie we all laughed.

    Calzone
    Sanchit K.

A local pizzeria located in The heights and is one of the best ones in the area! The pizzeria is pretty small but they also have a restaurant adjoining it. While the ambiance of the pizzeria is simple the service is quick and the staff is friendly. I wanted to try the calzone and when I asked the staff they happily guided me through. I went with grilled chicken along with olives and onions as fillings inside the calzone. Never thought it would be so huge in size, definitely filling enough while the calzone was baked to perfection, I wish the grilled chicken had a bit of seasoning which would have helped it a lot. Usually I have tried out their pizzas which are good but it was good to try something new for a change!

(Delivered 01/01/22 SA @ 6:00pm): Would Gino's pizza meet my expectations of New Jersey Italian food!? On Day 13 of my vacation as I visited a very dear friend for the Christmas and New Year holidays, we spent a chill New Years Day (figuratively and literally!) staying in as we watched movies, TV shows, and ate since we awoke from our celebratory late evening coma, it was dinner time and I had Gino's Pizzeria bookmarked as one of the local places I wanted to try, and time was running out before I had to leave. With a new year came a new place to eat for the both of us, so I opened the Slice app (specifically for pizzas) and placed my order after I salivated from the menu and pictures I saw online. Would this be a great start to the new year!? PURCHASE Pizza insalata 16" Large Pizza ($23.00): This 8-slice pie was made with shredded parmesan cheese, fresh mozzarella cheese, arugula salad, cherry tomatoes, red onions, prosciutto, and a balsamic glaze all atop an airy light puffy crust, this had all the feels of Italy and I loved it! Plus, they didn't mess around with the amount of ingredients, especially the prosciutto https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Tdk20WWv5T_dXHoS5khMkA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Eggplant Parmigiana Sandwich ($9.00): One of my favorite sammies, I always had to order this at any Italian restaurant I tried. First, it was delivered cut in half not wrapped in paper but placed inside an aluminum container - genius, because the paper would always stick to the cheese! Second, there were some thick slices of nicely-seasoned eggplant. Third, the bread was both soft on the inside and crust on the outside and reminded me of the bread bowl used at Disneyland. This hoagie rocked https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ipgILVqO7gTillDqZYWAqA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! Mozzarella Sticks 6pc ($6.00): At $1.00/stick, the price seemed high, the dipping sauce a tad watery, but dammit, these were fresh and the cheese stretched for days https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=eLsYYnevvPxPpCe8f5hmag&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 4.0 of 5.0 STARS] Onion Rings Small Order ($3.00): A fairly large portion size of mainly large thick rings, these were hot, medium browned, crunchy with some softness, didn't crumble when bitten into, while the onion ring (not sweet Maui!) stayed intact and didn't pull out. Decent flavor while the ranch dipping sauce helped - tasty https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=CE8yKy7eM0LHRUMadKSuDg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! Slice Delivery + Other Fees ($3.00 + $0.95): What were the "other fees"!? SERVICE Ordered online, the process was quick and painless. To my surprise, I was given an ETA of 60-90 minutes when the order arrived barely 30 minutes later with a phone call from the delivery person - easy-peasy! PARKING (FREE; N/A in this instance) Since I placed a delivery order, no parking necessary - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Since I placed a delivery order, unfortunately, I had no idea what the actual brick & mortar looked like. Unless I made a special trip before my vacation was over, this section will be left incomplete. ATTIRE Temperatures were in the 30s, so I was bundled-up from head-to-toe. Otherwise, this place was totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Gino's Pizzeria was everything I expected and more and would like to try more of their varied menu https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=DgQvIir53-U-KH7zZxlhaw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw hopefully in their actual restaurant for a full experience. Based solely on the food and prices, I was very impressed. And, it was always a pleasure to support small local mom & pop businesses like this one. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $48.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

    Meatball
    Ho A.

Pizzas here have a lot of good quality toppings. I ordered the Sicilian and Special Pizza. The Special Pizza was great! The Sicilian is similar to a cheese pizza with a lot of tomato sauce but the taste was ok only, not like the one you would crave for. Meatballs were good but a bit plain. Overall, great value for the money spent though. We were so full and had a lot of leftover food and only have to pay 10 dollars for each person.

If you knew me, I always considered pizza as a separate food group aka the sixth main food group! Established in 1982, this small family-owned cash-only restaurant has been a beloved neighborhood staple known for its authentic Italian pizza along with other Italian dishes and a cozy and family-friendly atmosphere. With a glut of pizza joints, how would this pizzeria from Larry and Joe compare to others I've tried in the neighborhood!? PURCHASE [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 3.5 of 5.0 STARS] Onion Rings ($5.00): A large container filled with oddly similarly-sized rings, these were hot, medium-browned, semi-crunchy, and didn't have a tendency to crumble when bitten into while the onion ring (not sweet Maui) stayed intact.
