Pizza was ok, and sauce bland, but I can say you get to take home a doggie bag since it is filling, However, I did not appreciate my waiter, "Pedro" telling me after receiving his tip, that it was a two-hour maximum seating time, especially since it took over an hour to get my vegetarian deep dish pizza. This was my first visit to Giordano's and I was not disappointed. I'm rarely in Chicago but when I am it's necessary to get the Chicago deep dish pizza and you will love it at Giordano's!! The only warning I would give is be prepared to wait 45 minutes as it does take a while to cook. So order an appetizer or be prepared to talk with who you are dining with. Enjoy!! read more

I love giordanos but today was not a good experience. I placed an online order for pick up and my grandmother went to go pick it up. She gave both our names and the people there said they did not have an order for either one of those names. She came home without the pizza. I called back and the lady who answered said she never gave those names and they did have my order. I told her to cancel the order because my grandma did not want to go back out. read more

A bit expensive. Got this after a flight. Very hearty, out of 6 slices I was only able to eat 2. Was a 4 dollar delivery charge before tip. A medium pizza cost me almost 32 dollars. Five stars for the food!!! Best pizza I have ever had. Really! However, there was a 30-40 minute wait to get a table, followed by another 10-15 minute wait to get drinks, then an hour and ten minutes for our food to get to the table. One very sweet but overwhelmed waitress for the entire side so we ran out of drinks several times. She kept apologizing but it wasn't her fault they were short staffed. This place is pretty good. I like the food and the atmosphere. The last time I went here, I was given the wrong dressing on my salad and asked three times for the Balsamic Vinigerette, she gave me these cups of oil and vineger....NOT THE SAME THING! I EXPLAINED WHAT I WANTED AND SHE NEVER SAID, "We don't care that..." Which they do because I order it all of the time there. So anyway, the server refused to ask a manager or staff member and kept giving me the wrong dressing and that sucked because it was hard to enjoy my salad at that point. I love this place, the food is amazing and it's such a treat to eat here. The reason I did give a three star to this fabulous establishment is because we had the enjoyment of sitting next to two young people. Not only were they loud and rude but the girlfriend was swearing extremely loud. There were kids everywhere, parents and older guest kept staring and the staff didn't seem to care but their waitress seemed annoyed. This shouldn't reflect on how great the service and food are but I hope the staff becomes more aware of people like this in a well respected restaurant. Had to stop for my Chicago Italian "fix" again! Giardanos at Midway. The service really improved since my last visit! Miranda suggested the bruschetta and it was fabulous. Had chicken parm and a salad. Hint for Caesar Salad. It's much better if you let them toss it rather than take dressing on the side. Big improvement over my last visit. Hats off! read more

Pretty damn good; when they don't burn or otherwise overlook it... or undercook it. Service tends to be on the RUDE side but you can get lucky. Restaurant is clean and pleasant even when it's pretty busy. I make this a must stop when I'm in town; until I find better that is. When it's not cooked right- send it back! Food was a 4 but what happened when we paid is another story that left a very bad taste in my mouth. Got deep dish pizza, good ingredient, great taste, made to order. Way less greasy than I anticipated, which is great. However, upon paying, waitress took our credit cards and then came back to ask for ID stating that her manager would need to see the ID's. Didn't think twice and handed the waitress our ID's. She took them to her manager. This is when I thought it was highly strange and irregular that they had to take our ID's out of our sight. So I went back to the cash register where the apparently appointed manager was running credit cards, I told her I thought it was entirely inappropriate to have our ID's taken to her and I needed my ID right there. This is highly inappropriate and now I wonder if they are running a scheme. There is absolutely no need for this, the waitress can ID customers without taking their cards where God knows what they can do with them (scanning machine, copies, etc) Very disappointing end to what could have been an ok meal. Now, I am wondering if I will be the victim of credit fraud. I am alerting my credit cards and mentioning them as a potential source of future problems. Oh, and the "manager" acted surprise when i told her I need my ID CARD back. Unbelievable bad commercial manners, what a witch! Will not return in the future. read more

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. After 6 consecutive trips to various Giordano's locations with negative outcomes I am embarrassed to say I am completely ashamed of myself for not realizing sooner this just isn't the same place I experienced when I first came to Chicago 2+ years ago. I thought at first it was maybe the locations I was choosing but it's clearly not. Did ownership change? Are there lower quality standards? Did they switch to lower cost ingredients? All of the above? The pizza is just average now and the other menu items are worse. Tonight's visit was out of convenience to kill time before picking up from Midway airport. Avoided the pizza this time and ordered a Starter Salad. No fresh ingredients and no house made dressing. Then the main course spaghetti with meat sauce and "all beef" meatballs. I even confirmed with the waiter asking if the meat sauce was "all beef". It clearly had pork in it or was the worst quality beef in the history of ever. And just for kicks the pasta does not come with Italian bread but instead with a spongy baby square of ciabatta type bread. I asked for Italian bread and was told they could bring me a French roll for an additional $1. Just awful food. I give the restaurant one star and myself negative five stars for actually going back. read more

This location was crap. We ordered a small deep dish pizza, single order of spaghetti and a chicken sandwich, along with a pitcher of beer (and some water). First off, the waiter had no knowledge of the menu at all. He made ordering so difficult because he didn't know what he was talking about. After that, 10 minutes went by and we didn't get our drinks yet, but we saw the pitcher sitting at the bar. We ended up getting the pitcher ourselves because our waiter was no where in sight. Four minutes later he ended up bringing our water and was confused that we had the beer, so we told him we got out ourselves because we were waiting for 10 minutes. Maybe 15 minutes later the waiter brought out the spaghetti and chicken sandwich. They accidentally made the spaghetti a family size so it was huge and since they made a mistake they comped the spaghetti (which was not necessary, they could have still charged us for the single order). The biggest problem was that my dad and aunt who were sharing the small pizza had to sit there for 15-20 more with no food. We know deep dish pizza takes 30-45 minutes to cook, but they only got a small, and they should have brought all the food out at once. Don't give 2 people their food then have the other 2 people at the table sit there with nothing. I felt bad for eating in front of them since they were equally as hungry as me but I didn't want my food to get cold while waiting for their pizza to show up. That's common sense. We ended up asking for a manager but the manager waited another 5 minutes for the pizza to be done so she could bring it out with her. I work in hospitality and her "customer service voice" sucked. I could hear her being so fake with her apology it was painful. I could go into more detail about this experience with the manager, but it's not even worth my energy anymore. Longer story short, the manager didn't try to make anything better for us with this issue, even though she agreed that all the food should have been brought out at once. We told her we didn't want the pizza anymore (which we told our waiter before asking for the manager) but he said he already placed the order so we had to wait for the pizza still. Thankfully they took the pizza off our bill, after we told them twice that we didn't want it. My dad and aunt ended up eating from the family size spaghetti even though it was cold at this point. I will never eat at Giordano's again, or at least this location. Re-train your employees and managers!!!! read more

I brought a guest from Germany who is on his first trip to the United States; as part of his visit, we are spending three days in Chicago, and of course, Giordano's is a must. We weren't disappointed. The appetizer (mozzarella triangles) was yummy, if nothing special. The pizza (deep dish Chicago Classic) had the amazing crust, the juicy richness and the cheesy decadence you would expect from this place. My guest also had a wonderful skillet cookie for dessert. What made the evening perfect was Gerald, our server. Friendly, attentive and professional, he gave solid advice, provided great service, and accommodated special requests seamlessly and without hesitation. read more

Say what you will about Giordano's. When a craving hits, you gotta do it......like White Castle's. A couple of Mondays ago, I was going to go out for lunch, but as I proceeded to my truck, the rain was thick and I thought better of it. A half hour later, I decided and craved for Giordano's Stuffed. So I place my order, and I reiterated that the driver needs to go to the back door(as that is THE ONLY door that I get in and out of). The girl order-taker said, "Well, I'll mark it, but good luck....". I respond "What do you mean?". She replies" He's not going to take it to the back because of the rain". Now, I feel like I'm in a SEinfeld episode where Neumann doesn't deliver his mail because of the rain, but in a sense, because of the torrential downpour, I understand that it would suck to walk far from the shelter of a car . So even though I have an awning by my door, I told the phone girl "That's what I pay for. That's what he gets paid to do, and get tipped well, if he were smart.". "No", she says, "he only has to deliver to the front". (Since that remark, I have poured over the internet and found no such practice, regulations, or policies for Giordano's delivery, but I may have missed it.). So, I respond by telling her to cancel the order. After having been at the original in the early 70's, at 63rd and California, where it was BYOB, with a liquor store conveniently next door, and spent thousands of dollars over the decades, I say F**K them. I am boycotting Giordano's. Maybe it was just the order-taker, but then again, management should train these people. I'm sure the Front Office couldn't care what I do, but then again, neither do I, as there are 200 clones of Giordano's (former employees), and at nearly 2/3rds of the price. Alright. So I had a small 10" cheese deep dish with italian sausage as my "topping"/filling. Good stuff. BUT because I prefer paying more for experience then real taste. I suppose regular customers pay $15+ for personal pizzas but really? I would only pay that much for top shelf pizza in NY, which equates to me saying that NY pizza for me is much much better. Deep-dish is great but I would not be able to eat that much cheese. So much food that I brought half my pie back with me on my flight to NY. haha. 3 hr layover at Midway = Giordano's on Cicero = Heaven! The Caesar salad is amazing and I often judge pizza/Italion restaurants by this staple as it is usually indicative of the food that follows. The dressing is light but still a touch creamy with a tiny kick from the black pepper. They are not stingy with the fresh shaved Reggiano and other (?) cheeses on the salad and you can taste just the right amount of olive oil. Delish! Waitress was very friendly and pizza came out in 45 minutes, right on time. So about the pizza; I ordered the small stuffed pizza (their version of deep dish) with pepperoni, bacon and onions and all I can say is be prepared for a mini black-out. Oh my!! It is sooooo good, almost impossible to describe so will have to let pictures help. The Cheese, oh my goodness; the pepperoni, the bacon, the crust!!!! I think I died. Wow. So funny thing just happened. The airport taxi company that dropped me off at Giordano's (only 1 mile away but 9 degrees outside!) gave me their # to call when I was ready to go back to airport. I called an hour before my pickup time and they said to call back 20 before pick up time which I did. After waiting the 20 minutes, I called again and they said no cab drivers were accepting the fair to take me back to the airport because fair was too small and I should take the bus! I offered to pay double like I did before but no go. Finally I asked the very friendly girl at the Giordano's register where the bus stop was and she talked to one of her delivery guys who offered to drop me off. I accepted, he had a nice clean car, very very nice and polite man (huge, friendly guy) and I paid him for his trouble. The trip took 2-5 minutes. I told him they should have an airport shuttle service because their food is so good, I'm sure they would make bank. Can't believe they went above and beyond like that. Giordano's, thank you for a wonderful meal and incredible customer service. The kindness of these strangers has made my forced travel for the funeral of a loved one an uplifting experience. We just flew into Chicago today!! Our front desk lady said if you girls are starving go down the street. The pizza place has to die for Chicago style pizza. So we walked the block from our hotel walked right in and got sat in what looked like a small section for out server. We didn't get greeted for about 7 minutes. Our waitress also seemed bugged we wanted to order off the lunch menu. After she took our drink order she walked to another table and discussed the entire menu to this older couple. Now I'm a server also so I get sometimes you run into that guest who forgets he or she isn't the other one in the restaurant. After about 10 minutes discussing pizza and how it's made and how to order she walks away and I thought she left to put our order in. At the top of the menu it claims it takes 45 minutes to make the pizza. So I'm not complaining about how long the food takes. The food was wonderful!! But our waitress could care less about our experience and how things tasted. We finally get out sodas after 15 minutes of waiting. Then she comes back to the able to let us know they only have two lunch portion pizzas left. So the three of decide to order an appetizer and split the pizzas. Again we have plenty of food so that's fine. Once our salads arrive I finally get my beer that took 25 minutes. No apology for how long it took. My friends drinks were empty at the time. Our appetizer makes it in a record time. And finally the pizzas make it. She doesn't offer them another drink and we don't see here again for about 25 minutes. We are done eating now and my friend still wants a drink refill. So I walked up to the front desk I assume I talked with a manager and I asked if I could get a Sierra Mist. The lady told me to ask my waitress. I said I would be we haven't seen her in a while. She then asked where I was sitting I walked back to the table which was in eye view of her and other co workers who were gathered around a computer. She brings me a Sierra mist I pass it to my friend and she takes some empty plates. This is where the manager should probably ask how everything was. But she didn't. Our check comes and then our waitress asks if we would like a refill. Needless to say if we do go back I'll ask for an experienced server. I've worked in the restaurant business for over 10 years. All you have to do is be honest with your table and say sorry for forgetting to put the order in or your mistakes. This lady didn't care at all about our drinks or what we ordered. And she never said sorry for the extremely slow service. read more

Geesh...do I only wonder what I had chosen to go to lou's pizza spot, would my first deep dish pizza experience been better..MUCH better. The crust taste like a frozen pizza crust which just killed it for me. I will say the cheese and sause were good but nothing to come back for. Oh well...till next time I'm in town and maybe I'll to pizzeria Due which was recommended by a passenger on our flight here. Literally the pizza was the only saving grace. First, we ordered online for delivery at just before 7:30p. That was a joke because originally quoted ETA (8:30-8:45) then after adding topping ([extra thin] half pepperoni/half spinach, garlic, mushroom) told due to 'certain toppings cook time' ETA extended (8:45-9). Then checking out the ETA adjusted again (9-9:15). It was in fact a Saturday night so I didn't think much of it. I seriously don't understand why it would be extended because of the cook time of literally nothing that needs to be cooked other than cheese and bread but OK. When the pizza finally showed up at 9:45 (after calling to see what was going on) it was cold.
