In the mood for local pizza place. Parking a little tight but inside the restaurant there's plenty of seating. Nice ambience. Menu is nice and simple. My server came out right away and explained the menu without even me asking very nice. Ordered a small, thin crust sausage and pepperoni pizza. The crust was crispy and thin, not like a New York style, but it was still good. Sauce was sweet and complemented the sausage which was fantastic. Plenty of cheese overall a very good pizza. I enjoyed it. The small was just enough for one person and ran about $20 for the two topping. I will come back if I'm in the area again. read more

Horrible! I stopped in here Wednesday for some late night pizza. The restaurant offers all these variety pizzas with only one meat option, PORK! So, I got a pretty much a veggie personal pan deep dish pizza, called The Lou, and my date some kind of cheese flat bread pizza with veggies. The pizza was so small.like a child's lunchable. It was basically just dough, massive tomato sauce and veggies. The worst pizza I ever did have. The establishment was clean. Service was pretty quick because they weren't busy. However, the female waitress talked a little more than I would've like her too. A little over friendly in the sense of where it came off as flirting with my date. When in Chicago, gotta try the deep dish. I heard about Lou Malnati's so this was the first stop on our deep dish pizza tour. We got a personal cheese which is the cutest size. Restaurant looked really nice inside but we got it to go to bring back to our hotel around the corner. The pizza was sort of stuck to the box and the filling kind of spilled out when trying to eat it. I smelled something like wine so I'm not sure if there is wine in the sauce, which is interested. Overall, I was kind of disappointed. It seemed rather bland. I wasn't a big fan of the sauce either it seemed more like squashed tomatoes vs a sauce. In the battle of Chicago big pizza chains, Lou Malnati's is a favorite in our house. We have taken a few people here when they visit if they're looking for classic deep dish. Our favorite is hot honey, no sausage, add garlic. Their fried ravioli is so light and airy; unlike any I've had before. I personally really enjoyed the Italian beef balls, my other people did not. The cookies are soft and not dry at all! The restaurant itself is a fast casual setting being close to the airport. Only saying because it is a testament to their customer service; once I got a to go order that said it was going to be done at a certain time. I get to the restaurant and the to go area was PACKED. I wish I would've communicated it was running behind, but not sure how that would happen. I waited for almost an hour in the restaurant before I asked if I could go in my car to wait. The person who brought my food out was very apologetic and mentioned they would make it right. And that they did! Very happy and love that this place is so close to home. read more

I've been trying different deep dish pizzas at different spots around Chicagoland. Lou Malnati's is up there with the best. This particular Malnati's on Cicero is very nice. The building seems new, or newer. It's nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. It has a huge bar area with tall pub tables and booths. You can order anything off the menu at the bar. I got there in time For Happy Hour. There are alot of beers and drinks for $5 and even most of their appetizers for $5, during Happy Hour. I got an order of the meatballs. They were delicious. Tender and juicy, swimming in a rich tomato sauce with giardinieria and burrata. There's also toasted bread slices that go so well with the meatballs. I could have eaten 3 orders of these meatballs. So good. Next came the deep dish pizzas. I ordered a small "Malnati's" and I added pepperoni. The pizza came piping hot out of the oven to the bar. The bartender served me up the first slice. I took my first bite, using a knife and fork. Wow! So much flavor. Perfectly cooked crust, filled with layers of tomato sauce, cheese, sausage and pepperoni. The top had a roasted look and taste that added a nice flavor.2 pieces was enough to satisfy me. This is thick pizza. Did pick-up this time. Went to order online and extra large sausage was listed as $24.95. Put it in my cart and price showed $28.95. Called to find out why. Was told that price is for extra ingredient (sausage) @ $4.00. So basically beware, pricing on website is deceiving. Prices listed are for cheese ONLY and everything is considered an additional ingredient, even if it says "SAUSAGE PIZZA" Had to wait for food (no problem) but when we got home (about a 5-7 minute ride) both the pizza and the calamari appt were lukewarm at best. Had to reheat-up both before eating. Really would have thought if we had to wait for it to be ready when we got there, it would have been piping hot. BEWARE!! We enjoyed the food here but beware of deceptive pricing. Our server was NOT looking out for us and really screwed us over. We got a small size half classic and half lou. However, when they charge it, it's by ingredient. So the menu said it was around $23 for a small but because we did half and half, we paid almost $40 for a small pizza. $40 for a 10 inch pizza. What a joke and literal highway robbery. It's called common sense pricing, which they have none. At that point, we should've just ordered a personal size classic and personal size lou for $15 each and it would've only been $30 and we would've gotten more food. The only reason we did half and half is because we wanted to try both versions. Usually when you order half and half pizza that is already predetermined (ie. Not build your own), they will charge you the price of the more expensive pizza, not by ingredient. That is so messed up and it left a horrible taste as our first meal in Chicago for this. I think I've only had deep dish, Chicago style at Uno's in California and this reminded me of that. We each had two pieces and that was plenty unless you're really hungry or have the appetite of a teenager. Wasn't my favorite pizza ever as I prefer thin crust, but again, was very good and very filling. The ingredients and tomato sauce seemed very fresh. I believe the food there is much better than Giordano's. It's got a bigger bar selection and the pizza is great. Also sides are great but every time I'm there, it is totally understaffed and there's one person working in the entire bar area plus have the restaurant and they're totally overwhelmed and overworked, therefore the service suffers you need to hire more people. read more

For this to be a Chicago restaurant, I was disappointed that there were only maybe 3 local options on tap, BUT I did love the maple brewing IPA that I had. The food; Easily the most money I've ever spent on a personal pizza at $20. But the flavor was good, and there's enough substance to tide you over assuming you're not starving. Cool spot the grab food. I will say the pricing on the pizza can be deceptive. Depending on the size of the pizza the cost for each ingredient added changes ( for example a small pizza to add pepperoni may cost $1.75 but for a medium size it may cost $2.75. Decided to get Chicago deep dish while we were in town! This location is conveniently located less than 10 minutes from midway airport. The parking lot is small can prob fit around 20 cars I think? It was a Friday night around 8 when we got there and it wasn't full. Maybe because it was further from downtown (always long wait from before). Calamari- this is one of my fave appetizers so had to get an order. It was good, crispy and liked the sauce. We cleaned the plate. Wings- got it plain with sauce on the side. I think this is the best way to do. It was crispy, hot and delish. For those who don't like sauce, it has enough flavors that you don't really need sauce in it. Within minutes we pretty much devoured the appetizers. Deep dish: this is why we went here. But also the most disappointed in my opinion. As you can see, it doesn't look like a deep dish pizza but pretty much your typical hand tossed pizza. It doesn't look "deep"at all. It was definitely cheesy. It filled a little more than 1/2 way up in the pan that it came in. If I remember correctly, it used to fill to the tip top. So we know quality went down but price went up. Not worth a $30+ pizza. Would come back for the wings and calamari but will skip the pizza for next time. The food was great. The waitress was excellent. However the hostess was terrible. So we had a large party and purposely went early (4:30) to wait for a table. We were willing to split up the group as needed. When we got there, the hostess told us that she wasn't taking any walk ups as there were NO tables available as they were ALL booked. At this time the restaurant is half empty. I asked about the tables in the bar area and she said no they're all booked. A member of my party checked Open Table and they had availability in 15 mins for 6 ppl. So I went to Open table and booked another table for 6. When my friend went to check in with her reservation, the hostess asked her what time did she make the reservation! Seriously? Does that even matter? She didn't tell us in the first place that we could've booked reservations. She made it seem like there were no tables available at all.
