They've certainly exploded over the years to multiple locations throughout the city, but don't let that aspect stop you from going! Order your pizza ahead of time as it's going to take about 45 minutes to prepare. But if it's a busy time anyway, you'll be seated close to the same time anyway. We went with a medium deep dish with cheese and meatballs. It was extraordinary and well worth the Navy Pier mob. The thick butter crust, tasty meatballs, excellent cheese, and fabulous sauce topping it all just made this dish pizza exceptional! We walked in and asked if we could sit outside. The greeting staff declined stating the outside only had one person available and wouldn't be able to help us. We asked if we could just order and have a beer outside(it didn't matter if it would take long) and still declined. Thankfully we ran into David! Im taking the current Covid climate into consideration when I write this. The food was good, not anywhere near the legendary pizza I have heard about in Chicago, Gino's east has them beat hands down. Service was slow and apathetic. When I brought up my beer was flat, he said oh yeah we just changed the keg. We needed to spit our check but it took 2 tries. We were charged a 3% covid fee ( surprise) but our server didn't wear a mask. I get it deep dish takes a while and good help is hard to find nowadays but try. Flies and bees were all over our table. I love me some Giordano's pizza. It's one of the best stuffed/deep dish pizzas you can get. Lots of locations and always consistent quality. That said, this is a VERY touristy location. Duh, it's at Navy Pier. So be prepared for a wait, for lots of tired kids and grumpy parents, for large groups, for slow service, etc. But that is all to be expected given that it's at Navy Pier. This was our second try at Chicago-style deep dish pizza during our trip. Because this location was at the Navy Pier, the wait time was quite long at 45 minutes for a weekday dinner. However, they do let you pre-order so that when you're seated at your table, the wait time for the food is very minimal. Kudos for that! We ordered The Special (stuffed deep dish with onions, mushrooms, sausage, and green peppers). The cheese was nice and gooey, but the tomato sauce was quite watery and not as robust as we thought it would be. Also, the crust was bland and not seasoned, and some parts were still undercooked. Overall, not as special as what we expected considering the crowd and wait time. As for service, our waiter never checked in with us during our meal and only came when we were almost done. Service was alright and pretty quick considering i ordered deep dish. I ordered a super veggie, gluten-free deep dish and pizza was good. Waiter kept his distance following covid-19 guidelines; however, it's hard to tell whether his service was just okay because he's new or because of covid-19 precautions. I am grateful he did bring a water bowl as soon as i asked for the bowl. I wish he would have just brought the bowl as soon as he saw my dog and not wait for me to ask, though. In addition, he sorta bantered with me on payment method. I told him i was paying with apple pay and he dismissed me saying he didnt know if i can do that. I told him i called ahead. We visited this location on a Thursday late afternoon and were seated immediately with no wait. We've had Giordano's many times over the years so we knew what to expect from our meal. Unfortunately this visit left us far from satisfied. First, they were out of the house salad, which just seemed odd for an establishment such as this. Second, our pizza was literally cold in places. The edges were warm, not hot, and the middle of the pizza was cold. It really seemed like a frozen pizza they just heated up. The fact that it was served on a cardboard tray (and then on a pizza pan) made it feel like even more of a frozen pizza situation. We all ate one slice and didn't want another because the pizza was that bad. We most likely won't return to Giordano's after this bad experience. There's surely more delicious and authentic pizza to be had in Chicago. On the positive side, our server was very good and attentive. I would have to say that this is relatively better than Lou Malnati's Chicago style deep dish pizza. We got the Special and it was a perfect combination of vegetables, sausage and cheese. Dimitrius at the front was the nicest guy and helped me get a bar seat so I could eat and watch a Cubbies game. Magdalene waited on me. She had a perfect draft pour, was super nice, interesting and fun to chat with. She made great recommendations and took good care of me. Mark the manager was awesome. When I arrived, I was told that they would not be able to sit guest until further notice and that I would have to order my pizza for takeout. I ordered my pizza for takeout and was told that it would take about an hour to one hour and 20 minutes. I was told that since I ordered takeout it cannot be switched for dine in. I thought that was ridiculous because they actually missed out on money. While visiting Navy Pier the food tour continued here at Giordanos. Came here on a Sunday at around 1pm and it was still a 45-minute wait. Like at Lou Malnati's you can pre-order your pizza while you wait. I'm not sure what the point is because just like Lou Malnati's it's still about a 25 minute wait for your pizza after you sit. Kinda annoying, but whatevs. Opted for the Special which consisted of sausage, mushroom, onions and bell peppers. That alone is way more bang for your buck compared to Lou Malnati's. Finally got seated and waited a good 25 minutes before getting our pizza. I liked that our served asked if we wanted to serve ourself the pizza or have them plate it for us. I'm obvi a yelper so I wanted shots of the pizza whole and opted to serve ourselves. First bite, I instantly liked this more than the other deep dish I've tried in Chicago. It had a good balance of cheese and sauce and there were more toppings! Also, Giordanos had more slices for a small pie. I enjoyed my pizza, it was very tasty. Although the crust was kind of mediocre. Overall a solid deep dish pizza. My favorite of the two, if you could already tell. read more

I often eat at Giordano's at other locations in the burbs. I know the pizzas usually take about 45 mins, so I often call ahead and grab a table, order apps/salads/drinks, and then comes the pizza. Contrary to what other locations allow, apparently they don't allow order ahead pizzas if you want to eat it at the restaurant. When I checked in at the front, the hostess informed me that if you order ahead, you can't wait for a table. I didn't see any such policies online, so if I had known that, I would have ordered a pizza elsewhere. I even told the hostess that we wanted to order drinks and other items while we waited, but she said that wasn't allowed. Interestingly, it seems there were other tellers who were allowed to sit at a table while they waited for their pizza, so it seems there's inconsistencies within this location and the other restaurants. This was an absolutely terrible experience. We were told upon arrival that we must preorder our pizza and it would take 45 mins. We would receive a text message to return to the restaurant to dine in when the pizza was ready. We received the text message and returned to the restaurant where we were seated. We waited another 30 mins for the pizza to come out after we arrived. The issue is the pizza that we waited all this time for came out cold because it was left sitting on the counter instead of being taken to the table, we waited 30 mins for the pizza to come out when it was just getting cold waiting to be served. There is a man working there that had a terrible attitude and was extremely combative when we asked why the pizza was so cold. The cheese had hardened back up and this is not the first time we have ate at giordanos so this is definitely not the quality of food or customer service we are accustomed to having. read more

We did order our pizza while making the reservation and we probably waited like 45 minutes after we were seated to get our orders. Can I say it was worth it? Yes, we went shopping during our wait time and socialized when we were seated. However, be prepared, try calling ahead and making reservations before coming. Now, the pizza was sooooo cheesy and yummy. I got a slice and a half, I could not eat more, and my friends which were a total of 5 did the same. The line is long, but the wait is not terrible. You can order while you're waiting for a table. I just must not be a deep dish fan, but for my first time, deep-dish pizza are heavy! I found myself preferring a more light thin crust with fresh arugula or veggies on top. Either way, I came to Chicago, and it was the things I wanted to cross off my list. For drinks, I recommend getting a pitcher of sangria. We had a very friendly servicer, who recommended the tequila sunrise. Unfortunately, none of us liked the drink. It literally tasted as though someone had put in a shot of robitussin in our drinks, b/c I could hardly taste the OJ and I could hardly taste the alcohol. All I got was a medicinal drink, and I've had tequila sunrises before. Either way, the server was really nice, and he had the bartender remake the drink.. unfortunately that too tasted as bad as the first. They finally decided to change the brand of tequila, and it tasted way better. Even though we are not pizza eaters, eating pizza was one of the things that we needed to do in Chicago. Eating at Giordano's - Navy Pier allowed us to check off 2 things from our to-do list. They are located near the "front" of the pier where the taxi's drop you off. We were seated immediately. We ordered their "Special". The waitress warned us that it would take more than 30 minutes to bake and advised us to order some appetizers. Their Fries appealed to us since we weren't that hungry and it was one of their cheaper things on their menu. Like clockwork, the pizza came out exactly when the waitress said it would. The pizza, to this non-pizza eating family was good. It was cheesy. It had a good crust. My daughter loved it. My wife and I thought the pizza was good. The fries? It was a good cheap snack while waiting on the pizza. After eating, you can walk it off at the pier. Good stuff! read more
