Kudos to Giordano's for serving late night pies. We built up an appetite after watching the Argentina v. Cabo Verde evening game at the FIFA Fan Zone on the National Mall during Independence Day weekend. Only minutes away from the Metro Center station. The wait time was reasonable (no more than 20 minutes) before we were shown to our table on the second level. Our server warned us that any deep dish pizza may take up to one (1) hour. Given that one of my friends has never had deep dish pizza, we opted to go for it. Luckily, we got our pizza within 30 minutes. We throughly enjoyed our appetizers. Shareable, not overly breaded or greasy. Perfect! The sangria was not strong at all which was perfect for someone like myself who is sensitive to alcohol. We opted for the veggie pizza as one of my friends is vegetarian. However, I should have thought to do a half and half so that I could sample more options. Between my friends, we had a few mixed reviews. My vegetarian friend and first timer in trying a deep dish pizza noted that is was worth the wait. As for myself, I don't think the veggie pizza was particularly flavorful and added an exceptional amount of chili flakes and parmesan. My friend warned me that the chili flakes were spicy and thought I was trying to prove a point that I can handle spice. On the other hand, she thought the pizza was too salty and soggy. I would agree that I was expecting a flakey crust given that I have had deep dish pizza in Chicago (from Lou Malnati's). Maybe Giordano's is not known for their flakey crust though at least I captured a good cheese-pull photo. All in all, good times were had and that's all that matters. +Sangria Pitcher +Mozzarella Triangles-lightly breaded and fried, served with our house-made marinara sauce +Calamari & More-tender calamari tossed with lemon rings and banana peppers, lightly fried and served with our house-made marinara sauce +10" Stuffed Deep Dish Super Veggie Pizza (2-3 persons)-mushrooms, green peppers, onions, garlic coated broccoli, black olives & spinach

Service was friendly and very accurate about kitchen queue times. There was an unsurprisingly long wait during peak lunchtime for deep dish pizza. Lots of seating and a fair number of people getting takeout. Portion-wise, I was pretty much full after 2 slices of a small stuffed crust deep dish. Maybe my expectations were too high after Pi closed, but I found the deep dish crust here too bland and overworked. I get that some structural stability is necessary, but I seriously considered scraping the toppings off to save myself from carbs that weren't worth the calories. I had no problems with the thin crust pizza, though my coworker was less happy about the cracker-texture of their gluten-free crust. The garlic bread came out quickly while we waited; it was a little soft, but more flavorful than what you get from the frozen section of the grocery store. If my coworkers really wanted to came back, I'd probably opt to try their salads and other appetizers.

Bomb Pizza, Authentic & Delicious!! Wow, what an incredible pizza and place! The food was absolutely delicious. The pizza was super hot, fresh and had tons cheese, sauce and flavor! The cheese pull from the pizza had everyone at the table, drooling!! As the first time, I came here with some friends as part of a pregame for my birthday weekend an Giordano's couldn't have been a better pick! From the minute that we walked through the door, the service was top-notch. We were greeted and seated at a center booth in the restaurant and given VIP treatment from the beginning to the end. Our server was Keylah and she was outstanding. Also, the bartender, Alonzo....I believe was his name... served up some great---strong drinks. The whole vibe of the restaurant was fun, chill and very casual for being in one of the most expensive restaurant corridors of the DC downtown area. Our server began by explaining the menu, popular pizza options/choices and some honorable mentions on the menu because the restaurant not only sells pizza but many other Chicago Italian favorites....like Italian Beef Sandwiches, Lasagna and alike. We opted for of course, the Chicago deep dish experience! I mean, when coming to a place like this, you gotta go full Monty and we sure did. We ordered two deep dish pizzas, that included the house special and created one of our own to include several "meat-everthang" & other delicious toppings. lol. We were forewarned of the 40 to 45 minute wait time, but that was OK because the drinks, apps and conversation was flowing and the time went by fairly quick. When Felicia brought our pizza to our table, we were amazed at how large our pizzas were! Then we did their famous "Cheese Pull" at our table. All I remember, seeing was sunrays from heaven and Lucky charms! It was the best looking deep dish pizza I had ever seen. That first bite was absolutely delicious! The whole table had the biggest smiles on our faces with each bite. We were only able to barely eat half of the pizzas as the portions and toppings were stacked! Also, the cheese to sauce ratio was perfect! We took the rest to our Buddha stomach rubbing Joy back to our homes. I cannot express how delicious and fresh everything was, including our salads and appetizers. A 10 out of 10 experience for sure! I will definitely be back to try some additional items that were on the menu and reminded me of my days living in Chicago. Thanks Giordano's for making the start to my bday weekend the best!!! In all, outstanding experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The service and food was outstanding. I highly recommend it!

I came here with my girlfriend while visiting DC. I've been to Giordano's in Chicago. So when I heard of this place opening up I knew I had to try it. The location was great. Close to so many museums and monuments. The place was packed and full of life. Giving some highlights of Chicago and Giordano's history. Great ambiance. While the hostess was great. The customer service was lacking. When we finally got sat down it took almost 20 mins before we even got waters, let alone our server acknowledged us. However the food was good. We got the sampler plate and side house salad. Which were good. The garlic fries were really good. The deep dish super veggie was the star of the show. While not as good as they make it in Chicago, this was still the best deep dish I've had outside of Chicago. 4.75 stars. I would gladly come by. I just hope as they stay open their customer service improves with experience.

Lunch special: Individual 6" Cheese Deep Dish Pizza with Caesar Salad

The good: excellent lunch deal every day of the week. Individual size pizza pizza and a side for $11! Very good serves and service The bad: so so underwhelmed with the pizza. The crust is meh. Not enough cheese. Too much sauce. Overcooked edges. I'll give it one more try to see how the tavern style pizza is, but at these prices for full size pizzas, I doubt this will be a place I go out of my way to visit.

Love this for DC. Yes the wait for deep dish is long. The wait is long in Chicago, too. This place is new and they are handling business as a new restaurant does. A few mistakes but the managers and staff keep on working to try to make it right. The space is casual and lively, with some bar space and seating that is first come first served, and dedicated dining area both inside and out. This place is a welcome addition and will be a neighborhood staple in no time. For those of you who haven't tried Chicago deep dish pencil Giordano's in for a future date. While the pie seems pricey for the size, it's dense and filling. I suggest making your own pizza as there are so many good ingredient options. This place is a definite must try if you've never enjoyed real deep dish.

I was anticipating to not like this cuz I tried a deep dish in dc before and I didn't like it. But this one was amazing. It stays together while you eat it. The cheese to dough to sauce proportions were perfect. The sauce had so much flavor. Pepperoni would take it to another level probably. The tavern was just alright to me. The deep dish is the way to go. I ordered take out and it took an hour lol. Good quality takes time. They had the pizza waiting in a special place so it won't go cold. The staff were very accommodating and helpful and nice. I had a lot of little things I needed and they took care of it. I was surprised how spacious and clean it was and had outdoor seating as well.

Yum. Giordano's officially opened June 9th. We visited on the 8th. We love Chicago style pizza. There are a variety of sizes and flavors available. There are also frozen premade pizzas to make at home. Restaurant capacity is 74, plus the upstairs and outside seating. I'm surprised that the downstairs bathroom only has two stalls. I enjoyed the cheese deep dish with black olives. The pizza had delicious gooey cheese. Hubby liked his pepperoni deep dish. I joined the free points club. Members can earn free food items. Lots of menu items are pricey. A deep dish pizza can take 30-40 minutes to prepare. Plan ahead. I want to return and try the $10.99 lunch special. The gift shop had adorable items with theme park prices. The holiday ornament is cute. The pizza plushie was my favorite. The restaurant is a few blocks from the Washington monument. We took picnic blankets and enjoyed a yummy meal outside. The employees filled our turvis cups with ice water. Customers can dine in, call in an order or just drop by and order take out. Kids can have a pizza coloring page. The restaurant if family friendly and also great for date night or catching up with friends. You'll have time to catch up since yummy Chicago Style pizza takes time to be cooked to perfection.

Been a long time coming for this review. I am an avid fan of Deep Dish pizza and I was so excited to go this place open week. Unfortunately we weren't able to sit and eat because the hostess told us it would be a 3 hour wait which I know wasn't true so I opted to get the pizza to go. After getting my pie taking that first bite was glorious because I didn't go to Chicago this year so this was a good substitute. I will update this when I am able to sit and it. The inside definitely had a family restaurant feel. All pizza lovers go and show this place some love!

It's a taste of home! Growing up in Chicago, I developed a love of deep-dish pizza. While I was living there, Giordano's was my 5th favorite*. After moving away, I realized that even fifth place was something really special. I still remember the disappointing afternoon in '78 when I visited the newly opened Uno's restaurant in Boston with two friends, Bob (the other one) and Paula, two other displaced Chicagoans. We were so hopeful and, ultimately, very disappointed. It just didn't live up to our memories/expectations. So, I was somewhat apprehensive when I wandered into the new Giordano's on 14th St. It wasn't for dinner; I had already been fed while photographing an event next door. However, I was able to pick up one of their frozen Chicago-style pies to take home. I chatted with the staff and learned that all their ingredients and the frozen pies come from Chicago. That's a great way to ensure an authentic experience. That experience was wonderful. I grabbed one from the refrigerator by the door... no waiting. It was only $22, much less than if I had ordered one they had cooked, and much, MUCH less than if I had one mailed to me from Chicago. Turns out it is exactly the same thing I would have received if I had had one mailed. Anyway, they gave me a nice, reusable freezer bag, and it stayed frozen even after a several-block walk, metro ride, and drive home. I have tried their mail-order pies in the past, and they turned out pretty good. This time I chose to ignore the cooking instructions on the package and tried the ones provided by AI. The results were even better: - Preheat the oven thoroughly to 375 (as opposed to 350). - Put a baking steel on a LOWER rack while preheating. - Put the FROZEN pizza on the CENTER rack, above the baking sheet. - Cook until the crust is deeply browned, even if that takes a few extra minutes. If you have a thermometer, cook until the internal temperature reaches 165°F. For me, that took about 50 minutes. - Let it rest 10-15 minutes. This is very important, to let the cheese set. The result was delicious and very Giordano's-like. I will be grabbing more of these whenever I'm in their neighborhood. *If you're ever in the Chicago area, here are the top five pizza places, best to not quite best, as I remember them. 1) Gino's West 2) Lou Malnati's 3) Due's Pizza (If you're at Uno's, it's worth the short walk) 4) Uno's (But only the one in Chicago) 5) Giordano's In their defense, Girodano's has the largest reach and greatest consistency across the Chicago area, so it's the one that you're most likely to encounter. And, you won't go far wrong when you do.

The deep dish was really good (coming from someone who only eats thin crust). Caesar salad was great. The only thing that was annoying was the staff meeting that was being held at 10:30 when the restaurant was supposed to be opened so we had to wait. I'd definitely go back.

After being away from Chicago for over 20 years, I couldn't wait to have some legit deep dish love close to home. The new DC spot did not disappoint. The crust, sauce and cheese was as glorious as I remembered. Can't wait to go back!

That month I had started Uber driving, was in this area of DC, had heard good things about Wiseguy, and decided to eat here. Although I don't like paying to park just to simply eat a meal, I sometimes will make an exception for convenience and/or if it's a place I really want to go. But for the most part, I'll go to restaurant where they have free parking or at least I can find free parking near the restaurant. I remembered getting a parking spot very close and feel like I feed the meter like 50 cents in 2014 parking prices for a quick 30 minute meal. They have all kinds of varieties of slices from the standard toppings or just cheese to fancy ones. Although the pizza is fairly thin, but average for New York style pizza. I tried Andy's Pizza 11 years later in 2025, and while it was solid although not as good as Wiseguy, my real complaint with Andy's was that the pizza is very thin, where I was hungry very soon later; so a much worse value as pricing is comparable to Wiseguy. Wiseguy slices are big, and the pizza is top notch New York style. I went to this location a couple of more times after my initial August 2014 visit as I loved the pizza. Then, they opened up other locations. I went to Navy Yard one at least twice, once after a Nationals baseball game after a disappointing loss for my 4th favorite baseball team, Texas Rangers. Sorry Nats fans, but Nats are in my bottom 10 teams. I also went to Rosslyn & Pentagon City location, where parking isn't quite as bad. They even had a Wheaton Mall food court location, which I got to experience once, but they sadly closed. Every experience with Wiseguy has been positive.

I feel bad for only using this space as a pit stop, but I totally would come back again!

Cute little place that was all decorated for the season…read more This was our first time here & we had heard a good buzz about the place so we were excited to try it out & hankering for some good pizza. We arrived 20 minutes to closing, not realizing their hours, but they were open & it's pizza & cooks fast. Yet it was abundantly clear they were hoping no one walked in & we were told they were closing so we asked if we could order and they hesitated. We were about to leave when they said yes. We were a party of three & ordered three pizzas to share & try. They were decent and the other two really liked the dough but I actually did not care for it. They staff cleaned around us including at our table & had their music going. Then they sat on the counter and watched us, lol. Not a fun experience & we would not have bothered them had we known. If you are open then you are open, otherwise close up early. No real desire to go back!

When we first walked in, the cashier immediately apologized for the long wait times, thanked everyone for their patience, and let us know they were incredibly short staffed with only two people working. Because the tiny interior was already packed, we decided to leave and do some sightseeing first. However, seeing how good the pizza looked we knew we had to come back later that afternoon. There's no negative details in my review. Nothing but positive things and a small recommendation. 1. Staff and Service I really appreciated the cashier's honesty about running behind right off the bat. That allowed us to make an informed choice rather than get frustrated by a long wait. More businesses could learn from this! 2. Restaurant's Layout The inside is a bit tight and busy, but it's located in a smaller older building, so they have no other options. Since they can't expand the inside adding an outdoor pub height counter for eating, a bench or some seating out front would be a great way to give waiting patrons a place to sit. Also a place to eat. 3. The Pizza -The Veggie Pizza: My nephew and I both ordered this, and the slices were massive you'll see in my pics! They were honestly the largest slices I have ever seen! I love pizza and have eaten it in New York and Chicago, and my slice here held its own. It was loaded with a huge variety of vegetables. I requested to put mine through the oven twice to get the veggies warm and cooked because I noticed my nephew's slice looked like a warm salad on crust. So happy I did because it was delicious! The jalapeños were intensely spicy which is on me, since I'm a bit of a lightweight with spice! -The Meat Options: My son got the pepperoni and thought it was really good, and my husband got a supreme slice which he also said was good . 4. Price and pizza size- they're more expensive than a typical slice, but once you see those big ole slices in my pics you'll understand why. They can't even fit on a plate. They had to serve them to you in an actual pizza box! After reading my long review you're trying to find out if I would go back huh? Absolutely! If I ever in the area or stay at the Hilton DC again, I would definitely walk right on over and get a slice. You can feed a family of three on one slice! Adult and two small children!
