The other day as my husband and I were coming from breakfast, I went into the salon to ask about pricing for a facial, I was greeted very warmly and was asked what I needed help with and I asked if I could have a price list. Once I said what I wanted, I was referred to a salon down the street. So I asked if they didn't do facials here, and she said, "I am the owner here, so believe me that's the place you want." Nikki cuts my hair and has now for almost 7 years. She does a phenomenal job, I give her a basic idea and let her go to town and it always looks better than I could have ever imagined. Prices can run a little steep, especially if you are getting highlights and a cut. I can say though her work holds up and is worth every penny. Even my cuts grow out nice!! They also get an A+ because they don't make me make an appointment a month in advance, when I call I can usually get in that day or at the very latest within a week. read more

I got my eyebrows done...I think the woman who did them was Kim? She was great, completely social and talkative, but she didn't chat my ears off like some people do. I felt very relaxed the whole time and she did a great job. I will definitely be going back. I used to get my brows done in Boston, it was $7 cheaper here which is great, but I wish there was some sort of signage that said Cash Only for tips (why couldn't I use my debit card?). Grace cut and dyed my hair on Sunday, and she did an awesome job. She gave me great advice on color, and as a result I chose one that I don't normally do that looks fantastic. The cut she gave me was exactly what I wanted in my head. Plus, she was kind enough to keep the salon open for an extra half hour to accommodate my schedule. I will definitely be back. I have been a long time customer (20+ years). It was recommended by a friend. I have always been on time for the appointment and loved the way my hair comes out. However my stylist is never on time, making me wait anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour, with never an apology or a comp. yesterday was the straw that broke the camels back. I went in at 12:20 for a 12:30 appointment and asked is she was on time. The receptionist said she was on time,that I was next. I explained that I had another appointment in JP so timing was important. I sat down and much to my surprise, she was working on 1 haircut, then sat someone down to blow dry and Then took another customer. By this time it was 12:45 and I knew I would not be on time for my other appointment. I told the receptionist to cancel, not to rebook me,so now am looking for a new place. I had an early appointment at the salon the morning of some Braintree parade. I was not aware of the parade. It was going to be my first appt at the salon. When I went to park in the back, there was a older woman, wearing a Giovanna's smock. And she told me I couldnt park there. I think she assumed that I was going park for the parade. But she didnt even give me a chance to say I was going to Giovanna's. As far as I know, that parking lot is not just for Giovanna's, #1. And #2, she was so rude, i decided to just not show up to my appt. Do not go to this salon. They should be careful who they speak to with an attitude. It may come back to bite them! read more

The worst three hours I have ever experienced in a salon. This morning I literally want to cry with what Joanne (Giovanna) did to my hair. I arrived for a 7:00 pm appointment with Joanne only to wait, and finally have Caitlyn offer to cut my hair at 7:45 pm. I agreed and Caitlyn started to cut my hair only to be called away by the owner (Joanne) to rinse two other clients and then apply color to one while I sat waiting with a half of a cut for over a half hour. Only when I started to leave did Joanne approach me to ask what was wrong did she offer to cut my hair. After insulting the color another salon had done, and demanding me to tell her exactly what I wanted cut, did she start to very aggressively yank and cut my hair. This was followed by intermittent periods of being kind and apologetic to periods of being insulted about the color and current cut. I was informed I was an angry person, not supportive of women owned businesses, etc. She made blatant threats about me posting a negative review, informed me the cut was on her, and then proceeded to charge me $85 for the cut. Bottom line, I walked out of there at 10:00 pm with a hair cut and treatment I would not have given my dog. read more

I always get the best hair cuts at this place. I moved to Btree about a year ago and asked around to find a place to get my hair done. Giovanna's was highly recommended so I made an appointment. Every time I go in there I feel like I'm treated well: the ladies are chatty and friendly without being too nosy.... and Lisa does a GREAT job on my hair. Although it's straight and thick, I have a lot of cowlicks and like to keep it short. I have a layered bob that's tapered high in the back low in the front... hmm like a reverse mullet but not. They used to have a place in Westwood that I went to that went out of business.I had pretty good luck there so I thought I thought I would try their place in Braintree. I walked in and they acted as if I was bothering them. The women were all chatting at the desk. No one said hello. I stood there waiting for a few minutes before they even noticed I came in. I should have left than. The girl was nice enough but never told me her name. No consultation and no massage. I don't even think my hair was cleaned. My bangs were un even and way to short. When I told the women at the desk when I was leaving she told me I was cute and they would grow. I now know why they went out of business in Westwood Salon. read more

Anyway, here it is: It was a last moment decision to have my ends trimmed and my bangs shortened on a Saturday morning coming back from some errants. I had just washed my hair so it would be a quick and inexpensive process, (or so I thought) when I stopped at GIovanna's How wrong I was!! The owner thinks that we, her customers, have money to waste in this economy and that's the only reason we stop there; to unload our un-needed, easy earned money to her for just touching our head with her magic wand She took me in, left my bangs long and cut my back hair about 1/2 inch Time for the whole process: less than 10 minutes Price for that: $55.00 (!!) i want to warn you all that giovannas of braintree is a terrible place to get a bikini wax. the woman who does them there needs a class on how to do it safely. i got a really bad burn from the too hot wax and therefore have a scar and went through two hospital procedures to deal with the initial burn. to giovannas: i should report your salon to the better business bureau. to the waxer: learn your stuff...i wont be reccomending this salon to my worst enemy. fancy name for a place....too bad the class of the service cant hold up to what it should be. is there an option for a -1 star? i think this place deserves one. read more

BcG first and foremost I want to direct this message to you. The owner is highly educated with coloring and what you think "looked bad" was probably straight out of " In Style" magazine. Also, as far as saying "she could've cared less," she stayed an extra two hours to put the time and effort into my daughters locks, the job she did was so outstanding she now is getting modeling offers. I have gone to Giovanna's 100s of times. I have been going to this location when it was called Alllessandro's. I truly felt like this salon was a step above the rest as it listened to you, pampered you, gave you a great service at a modern/chic setting. I never had a bad experience until April 26th. I treated my daughter and myself for a highlight and hair cut. We saw 2 different people at the same time, and this was a real treat for me as I have an incurable disease that affects my head where I need to get injections into my scalp. My highlight came out good and my cut was ok, the cut wasn't what I asked for but it was acceptable. My daughter saw someone she never used before and the stylist rushed through the job. As I was sitting under the dryer to set the process my daughter who has long hair was getting her hair rinse. This alarmed me because we started at the same time. As soon as I was done with the dryer, I went over to my daughter's station and her was getting styled (almost complete). My daughter's hair looked hideous and I told the stylist I didn't like the highlight. It was streaky, the color was not consistent as some parts were bright almost white highlights and other parts were barely blonde and there were huge gaps in the coloring. It literally looked like a ten year old highlighted her hair. I told the stylist 3-4 times about how bad her hair looked and I could tell by my daughter's face she agreed with my evaluation of the service. The stylist dismissed me and laughed, she insisted the style was sunburst. I called the salon when I got home to complain about the subpar highlight and they offered to redo her hair the next day. My daughter didn't go back as she had to work, was worried they would make it look worse, the stylists didn't listen at the time of service and the time to correct it would when we complained and not to be inconvienced for another day. She lost trust in the salon's workmanship. I sent a letter to the owner in July requesting a refund for the highlight not the cut just the highlight. The owner called me and we spoke and was at first sympathetic to the bad experience at Giovanna's Salon and agreed that the coloring should been corrected before we left. The owner at first offered a refund and a redo of her hair by her. I was thrilled with the offer. She asked if my daughter was home and I said no she was at work as she wanted to do it right then. I told her she gets off at 9:00-9:30 and by the time she cashes out it is 10 pm. and doesn't get to Braintree to 10:30, she said "tell her to come in I will be there until 11" I said 11 pm and she said yes by time she wraps up her last client and clean the station and shop it is 11 and she will accommodate her (at 11 pm?'). I told her tonight might not be good because she just returned from Connecticut yesterday and is tired and she said " are you refusing to have your daughter come in? What could she see after almost three months and my daughter did everything in her power to rinse/ fad the bad color. She said I came back from Ohio last night and I have 4 kids and I am staying until 11 tonight, ok and your point? I really wanted to suggest maybe she come in when she had a day off but the conversation took a turn for the worse. The owner voice had a distinct attitude and was very pompous and haughty that she wouldn't come tonight . I told her I didn't like her attitude as we are the aggrevious party as her salon did subpar work and was notified on the day of service of this subpar work at least a half a dozen timres. Giovanna's ruined my daughter's hair where she had to pull it back and not wear it down because of the subpar workmanship, Giovanna's should be saying what day can your daughter come in? Instead of saying that, the owner said " why is mommy calling for a 22 year old daughter, mommy, i'll have mommy call with a mocking tone. Instead of diffusing the situation and agree on a day, she has to make fun of me and be disrespectful truly, not too professional. To the Owner of Giovanna's Salon, first I called because I PAID FOR THE SERVICES and an apology would be nice. I wasn't asking for a full refund of service only the portion that was done wrong, I wasnt asking for any refund for my service nor my daughter's hair cut just the highlight. It is a real shame because I loved this salon from the receptionist, the location, the hours, a lot of stylists, and the atmosphere. I definitely would have returned for services because nobody is perfect and I think eventually i think my daughter would have returned to a different stylist but after the conversation turned sour and the actual owner was making fun of me and in a very demeaning voice it is highly unlikely I would go back. I can get mocked & have people disrespect me with attitude anywhere why should I pay someone for a service then the owner mocks you: that is just wrong. I called to get a last minute appointment, and was seen by a stylist who will remain nameless, she did NOT give me the cut I wanted, nor was she willing to accommodate her mistake. The list goes on and on. I decided to give it a chance, but I was still unhappy by the morning. Once the salon opened in the morning, I gave them a call and explained my experience to the owner Janice, she was awesome, she allowed me to come back in the afternoon and sit down with another stylist free of charge. Boy, my haircut failure turned into a blessing in disguise, Cheryl came to my rescue, she was very courtesy and pleasant, really listened to what I wanted, and by the time I got home, I couldn't stop looking at my new do. I went to this place when I wasnt in the mood to blow dry my own hair. When I walked in the guy at reception was nice he told me they took walk ins and would get me someone. He walked over to a heavy set lady who was bald (not that that's a bad thing she actually rocked that hair do) and I could tell from the conversation she was pleased to have to serve anyone. She walked over to me and said your looking for a blow dry? no hello no how are you? I said yes and she said well its going to be $30. The way she said it was like if I couldnt afford $30. I said oh thats perfect. Then she said well its going to be about 5 minutes again trying to convince me thats to long. I should have walked out then but I said maybe she's having a bad day. I continued to wait when a women named Grace came over. Very friendly and said your looking for a blow dry I can help you. She never told me what happened to other women so I assumes Grace was just going to wash my hair. Grace did my entire do. While Grace was doing my hair I saw the bald lady a few times and each time she looked passed me and never explained what happened. She was all smiles with people and when she looked at me she had a straight face. Other people in the salon also looked at me as if I didnt belong. No one offered me water or asked how i was doing. NO one welcomed me as a first time customer. They made me feel different. Grace did a good job and its unfortunate because I would never go here again! I could tell my background made them uncomfortable. If your a person of Caucasian background please go here but if your not STAY AWAY!!!
