My husband grew up in Ashland eating at Giovanni's frequently. I hadn't tried until last night when we ordered from the location in Shelbyville. We did carry out so I can't speak to the service or ambiance of the restaurant. But I can speak to the food. We ordered 2 large pepperoni pizzas for carry out. I phoned the order in which was quick and painless. He picked it up and brought it home. I loved it. I like the flavor of the sauce and the chewiness of the crust. Perfect amount of cheese. It was all around a good pie. I've ready that some people didn't care for it. I think that comes down the personal preference. I thought it was great and I'll be going back for more. read more

My husband and I attempted to visit this place twice. The first time we went, they seemed annoyed that we were even there. We noticed employees were grabbing food off of the buffet with their bare hands. Customer service was less than desired. As for the food, we couldn't tell you because we didn't make it that far. We ordered 2 - 12" original pizza's. 1 Deluxe and 1 - 3 meat. The pizza is really delicious, sauce has a good flavor and there were plenty of toppings. My only critique is that the crust is really flimsy and does not hold up to the toppings. As you can see in the pictures...a lot of extra grease. read more

Got a chefs salad for $7.75 it was the size of a small side salad. Tasty but over priced. Can get a large chefs salad at the Tea Cup in Taylorsville with lots of meat and lettuce for $8.50. And it will fill you up. Had taco pizza and nothing to brag about. It was ok. Staff were all really nice. read more

I've had several different pizzas, boneless and traditional chicken wings, (boneless is my preference), spaghetti and baked spaghetti, the best garlic bread you'll ever taste, party bread, cheese breadsticks, onion rings, French fries, subs (I've never had a ham and cheese sub at any sub shop that can come close to Giovanni's ham and cheese), double chocolate chip brownie, and the cinnamon snazzies. There's so many more items that I've not tasted including the salad bar. My family and I are going there after church tomorrow and I may try it.. Now for the service. Its great. It pains me to have to make this review because before the restaurant was revamped, it was my absolute favorite pizza AND salad place. Since I've been back, the quality of the pizza has gone down immensely. I ordered the pepperoni pounder which is usually absolutely COVERED in pepperonis, given the name of the specialty pizza. This time, however, there was one or two pepperonis on each slice. There was a total of 11 on the entire pizza. It was super disappointing because their specialty pizzas are not cheap. I give the 3 stars because the salad is still decent and the service is always lovely. I just probably wouldn't be back for another pizza, however, do hope this issue improves! read more

It was nice pleasant visit to this resistant. Best part was they were playing old cartoon (the flint stones & scooby-doo). I wouldn't say this place is authentic Italian food however it's good. The dough is pre-made for sure but the toppings and sauce is better than Pizza Hut and other big franchises. The service at this restaurant is nice and it was weird that I got my own drinks instead of a server getting them but it was nice getting the drinks whenever I wanted. I got the pepperoni 12" pizza and the battered mushrooms. However the pepperonis are under the cheese and the mushrooms were frozen bag mushrooms. Overall it was good. read more

I am so excited that Shelbyville now has a Giovanni's Pizza. Growing up in Louisa, KY I spent many Friday nights at Giovanni's. My friends and I would play the jukebox and eat cheese fries and have the best time. Every time we go back home the kids and I have to go to Giovanni's. Their hot ham & cheese is THE best!!!!! If you like baked spaghetti with garlic bread this is your place! Service was excellent and honestly the ham & cheese here was the best I've ever had back home. New owner ship is just as terrible as food.. We placed are ordered for a pepperoni pounder. when it came out is was wrong size. We still tried to eat it. We all had one slice and realized it's one of the worst pizza we have ever had. Pizza had barely any pepperoni on it, was so greasy when you picked it up in Bent in half. Left 22 slices on the table. Went up to talk to them about it being so bad. While talking to them told me I still had to pay for a pizza that was wrong and still on the table. Then Tells me it's no different than it was before when old owners had it. Told them I would pay for my salad and drinks and not the pizza. Manager told me to just leave and never come back. This Military friendly location has lots to choose from. My wife went with pizza sub pepperoni and cheese only it came with a side of fries. While I went with the meatball sub I upgraded to cheese fries. The lunch combo comes with drink and is very reasonably priced. This is a Military friendly location. read more

Stopped in for an early dinner on a Friday in late afternoon. W wanted to try something new and the pictures on Yelp were quite accurate. Giovannis's pizzas are loaded with toppings and the 16" Deluxe was more than enough for two as we had to take 4 slices home after deciding to split a regular Antipasto Salad to start the meal off. I would not suggest ordering a salad without the intent to share, it was nearly too much for me to eat half but it was loaded with meats, cheese, tasty olives and other fresh vegetables, so I just could not stop until I finished. We both enjoyed the very fresh and tasty salad for sure! The only thing I can think of being just "slightly" less than perfect was that the thin crust is not crispy at all (not soggy, not doughy, just not crisp) but still a very good pizza! Very rude employees. Argumentative! Rang up my order wrong and repeatedly told me they rang up how I said. Started raising their voices. Asked me if I've ever eaten with them before and I said yes several times. Told me that their crust always comes out thin after baked and will show the owner to see what they want to do. I asked for two garlic sauces and was told no I didn't. All the way around horrible experience. Then while waiting for order to hopefully be being remade, all they did was all bash the customers who called and the customers in the dining room. Giovanni's is a nice little restaurant. At my house we always order pizza, and I'm never the one to go in and pick it up, so I'm not really sure if there is indoor seating. The pizzas are absolutely gigantic, and the cheese is browned and melty. If you've ever had Costco pizza, it's similar to that but better. I totally recommend! read more
