We were pretty impressed. Didn't realize you could find good Italian in the small town of Angleton, but we were both wrong !!

Having worked at this restaurant in the past and being friends with the manager, Tiffany, and the owners, Vinny & sue, I'm very disappointed that I'm having to leave a review with only 2 stars. Food was great, but our waitress, Jamie was a complete nightmare. On two different occasions I had to ask multiple times for things that I needed. When she came back to our table, she said "Sorry it's a clusterfuck"... i wish I was making this up, but it's true. She never once smiled. She was rude and unhelpful. Hope she was having a bad day, but it just seems like she doesn't belong here. read more

The phones were left off the hook and they were not taking any phone orders. Wife drove to order food and they told her they weren't taking take out orders because of Valentine's Day? Food was generous with portions. Surprisingly was very tasty. I had the cheese tortellini with St Charles sauce, it had a nice kick to it. The wife had the lasagna, it was decent and a large portion. If you live in Angleton it is a good choice to eat at. It is not worth your drive to just try it out. read more

Everyone saying that this is the best restaurant in Angleton is absolutely right. Seriously though, it's not like they have much competition... It's an old, dingy place with a solid menu and big portions. I've had some issues with food and service but I chalk it up to them ALWAYS being slammed. I'm talking like Wednesday night parties of 15 slammed. Definitely make a reservation. read more

Heard great things about this place & couldn't wait to eat here. I am sooo disappointed. Hostess was very nice & informative... waitress was new & just didn't have it together at all but she tried. First, the bread was great! I'd buy that by itself but that's just about it. We started with the fried calamari appetizer. It was chewy, unseasoned, & flavorless but the marinara sauce on the side was wonderful so we used it to try & cover the lack of taste & texture of the calamari. I ordered the florentine pasta, which was $18 & came with spinach, chicken, & alfredo sauce. Yuck! Huge portion but no flavor and no seasoning on anything. Seriously, the alfredo at Domino's is better than this. It really was that horrible. My husband ordered the snapper w/ shrimp & crab... I believe it was $20. It also lacked flavor & seasoning but he ate it anyway. For dessert, he ordered a slice of Oreo Cheesecake for $6.50 which he said was really good. Our meal totalled $60, that's without any drinks. We've spent more, so this would be fine for a nice date night if the food was any good but it just wasn't. The food is overpriced & absolutely awful. I recommend going to a chain restaurant like Carino's or Olive Garden (which I'm not a huge fan of), the food would be better. Again, the free bread & the marinara are excellent but as far as the actual meal, unfortunately it's a huge no for me. read more

I've gone here on special occasions for years. It's always been great. Recently however, I have had a lot of troubles with local chain pizza places. Then I remembered Giovanni's also had pizza. Tonight was the fourth time I've ordered pizza from Giovanni's and true to form, it's consistently superb. Tonight I ordered it well done because I like the little charred spots in the pizza crust. I have to say it was the best pizza I have ever tasted. I know the hostess answering the phone must have been pulling her hair out because the line was busy for an hour, yet when I finally got through she was just as cheerful as if it were her first phone call of the evening. Very professional and very nice. Like every restaurant they may have an "off night", but 99% of the time they are the best of the best. read more

Giovanni's is great! Small town Italian restaurant that knows how to make great Italian food. We've eaten here a couple of times and everything we've gotten has been good! You should try to make reservations if you can ahead of time. It's not a super fancy place but the food is good. read more

I don't know what has happened to what used to be the best little Italian restaurant in our area. I made a reservation a week in advance to arrive and discover our table was not even ready. Mind you, there were about 5 reserved areas already marked with no one occupying them just about the entire time we were there. When asked why our table wasn't ready, the hostess proceeded to tell us they had a LAST MINUTE reservation for 28 people. Later to find out just before we left that she made a mistake and the reservation was only for 8 people. To add insult to injury, she sat us right by the entrance and the kitchen where we could hear the kitchen heavy metal music which overrode the restaurant big band style music. The service wasn't that great and neither was the food. Our party of 5 were very disappointed in the overall experience and not sure we will return. It isn't the same place anymore that's for sure!! read more

Best Italian in Brazoria County! Plenty of food and very tasty! Ordered pasta and wine and can't complain about anything. We have made reservation and gone in unannounced and they were able to accommodate us without issue. Love the intimate dining experience. Will absolutely return! I met some people for dinner and drinks last night. While the exterior is a little unassuming the service and food were outstanding. They have to go, curb service and delivery within 5 miles, from Tuesday through Saturday 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.We took advantage of the curb service last night and the food was great;in fact, better than ever. Dined for the first time last night. Service was great; attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Although, we noticed the main courses were a little slower than should be. The lighting is too dark and the whole place feels a little cramped, they need a bigger space. The complimentary bread and olive oil for dipping was very tasty, leaving no real need for an appetizer. We had eggplant parmigiana, steak, and shrimp Alfredo. The shrimp would be better if tails were removed, so I suggest asking for that when you order. Italian wedding soup instead of salad was one of our choices, and it was great too. read more

Was willing to pay twice as much for pizza for the family than a national chain to support a local restaurant. Ordered 2 pizzas over the phone verifying my order before ending the call only to show up to only one pizza with the wrong toppings. If you cannot make a pizza via takeout and get it right.. don't offer take out. read more

Food was absolutely amazing. I had the beef ravioli and it was to die for. My husband had the shrimp and lobster alfredo and said it was amazing. The crab cakes are awesome!! The Caesar salad was fresh and the tomato basil soup was amazing! Can't wait to go back here again. read more

The food at Giovanni's is always outstanding. The service, on the other hand could use some improvement. My husband and I came to eat here tonight on a whim. When we got there, they said there was a wait. No big deal. I expected this without a reservation. They told us we could sit at the bar. The bar was completely full, as it only seats 4 people. We continued to wait for 30 minutes in a cramped hallway outside of the bar with servers bumping into us the whole time. All of their problems would be solved if they got a bigger restaurant. My son calls it "the date place" but we'd eat there every week if the budget and waistline allowed. The food is fresh and prepared meticulously, some of the best steak you can get in the area. Update, I just spent the last hour writing a review for another absolutely horrible restaurant in Angleton, so needed to go back and cleanse my palate with the memory of my last meal at Giovannis. We began the meal with broiled oysters- I wish I could remember the dish's exact name, but they should probably call it pure heaven. Fresh, delicate flavor, prepared with only the best ingredients. We went with another couple, set outside , and just enjoyed the experience. I have two, go to dinners that I can't seem to venture from: their filet mignon and the pecan encrusted chicken with goat cheese, this time I went with the chicken again. It has never disappointed me, in fact I have never had a bad meal here and have dined here at least 20 times in the past 8 years. The filet is cooked to perfection, you cut into the center and the steak simply falls open in juicy tenderness, what more can a girl ask for? And while we can't go as often as we would like, the staff always remembers us, they strike a very nice balance between friendly service but not too familiar, I go out to spend time with my companions not hear about my waitress's three kids. So all said, I'd rather go to Giovannis once a year than almost any other place in Angleton every week, choose quality, you're worth it! read more

Dough. It's all about the dough. Anyone can get a pepperoni. With a good wine selection to start, then a nice Caesar to boot, we anxiously awaited our requested Italian concoction! It arrived in splendor and I assumed elevated to stimulate all of my olfactory sensors. BAM! This place makes a good pie. And I over ate as a result. I have eaten here a number of time when in Anglketon on business. When I arrived on a Wednesday evening at 6:00 I was told the wait to seat one was about 20 minutes...it took 45 minutes. There isn't any place to sit and wait because they were seating people at the bar for dinner, which is where I ended up. Dinner on a backless bar stool was hard on the back. They would not take a reservation for one in advance when iIcalled ahead and said I would be seated as available on arrival. The service was very friendly, if a little slow. The food was okay, not the best or worst Italian I have had. The portions were huge, but the cream sauce was really too heavy without much specific flavor...the shrimp had obviously either been cooked and frozen or cooked too long too far before serving, so they were kind of tough.
