I have eaten here a number of time when in Anglketon on business. When I arrived on a Wednesday evening at 6:00 I was told the wait to seat one was about 20 minutes...it took 45 minutes. There isn't any place to sit and wait because they were seating people at the bar for dinner, which is where I ended up. Dinner on a backless bar stool was hard on the back. They would not take a reservation for one in advance when iIcalled ahead and said I would be seated as available on arrival. The service was very friendly, if a little slow. The food was okay, not the best or worst Italian I have had. The portions were huge, but the cream sauce was really too heavy without much specific flavor...the shrimp had obviously either been cooked and frozen or cooked too long too far before serving, so they were kind of tough. My sons and I really enjoyed the food and our waitress was great. The food is rather pricey, but the portion sizes are big enough to split an entree. Just add a soup or salad for the extra person. I recommend the house Italian for the dressing. read more

The food I love! The cramped little area they have for you to eat leaves me a little claustrophobic. The lines of people to be serviced are sometimes long, but because they love the food! I don't believe in giving 5 stars very ofen, but this place just flat out deserves it. We have probably been to Giovannis 50 times or so. Only 1 bad experience in all of those times. That issue involved an irate customer who didn't think the reserved tables should be seated first. He ended up getting a table and we waiting nearly an hour longer to get ours and it was reserved. Besides that one issue years ago, this place has been nearly flawless. The service is always great, just keep in mind how busy this place is so not everything happens instantly. The waitstaff is always very friendly and knows their product well. They are always willing to help with decisions. I don't drink alcohol and they don't sell any non- alcohol wine. The owner is generous enough to let us bring a bottle and they always uncork it and give us a set up for it. On a side note - Ariel non - alcohol wines are fantastic. The food. Wow. The bread that comes out as an appetizer is pretty good. I used to like the dipping oil better when they used to put a brown powder- I think roasted garlic powder- in it. But it is still pretty tastey. The tomato basil soup - wow. I don't like tomato soup but this stuff is awesome. Never had any I like better. We sometimes get the Capo Companchana as an appetizer. Sooo fresh - addicting. My favorite is the Spicy Sausage Lasagna and my wife's is the Chicken Scallopini. But we love pretty much everything we try here. Just can't say enough about how much we love Giovannis. It's a bit pricey but the portions are huge and we always have leftovers. I ordered the filet minion this time hoping my 6Th try there would finally be good, it wasn't. The perfect pillow cut was COVERED in peppercorns top, bottom & sides. Tried scrapping them off but the raw slab of not MED cooked as ordered steak they gave me was still bleeding & mooing ! I only go because my Mom likes it, will not happen for the 7Th strike again !!!! Too loud, way too expensive, too long wait for food then your bill & slow service. Solid 4. Could haven been a 5 if there were a couple tweaks. The ranch was very tangy and artificial tasting although they said it was homemade. I kinda doubt it :( Everything else was very good! The red sauce was deeply flavored and fresh tasting, the steaks were shockingly good, and the German chocolate cake, WOW! I wish I had gone sooner! And the prices were soooo reasonable! Went back on Tuesday and were seated in the bar area, which is charmingly decorated but VERY CHILLY (bring a sweater even if it's 90 degrees outside). As usual, top notch service but we had to ask for smal plates upon which to eat our Crab Cakes NOLA app, and there was a huge chip on one of them. Caesar salads for both if us and hakfway through the stomach's full light started blinking... He had the Tenderloin and I had the nightly special Beef Skewer on a Rosemary sprig with anglio olio pasta but asked for a Gorgonzola sauce on the pasta, and my request was wonderfully met. So much food again so we skipped dessert. A buck or two over $100 due to four glasses of wine, and worth every penny. Only wish they would throw away cracked or chipped china. Love this place, but could use some changes. Very, very loud on a weekend evening. Not sure what you could do about that. Just a lot of people. The food is on the higher side compared to most restaurants in the area. Dropped $100 for 2 pretty easy. That's one appetizer, two cheap glasses of wine, no dessert and a 20% tip that was well deserved for the excellent service. You do get of varied selection of food and the ambience is pretty nice. They do need to upgrade your selection from just Sweet & Low and sugar, that's cheap for the prices charged. After all the expansions over the years due to increasing business you'd think you'd upgrade the restroom to more then one 3x6 room for men. (Hope it's better for women, but didn't look to be from outside.) Got the Snapper Wakki (not sure of spelling) special of the night. Way too sweet. Like sweet & sour shrimp glaze from a chinese buffet. Should have got the Chicken Piccata was interested in the first place. Will try next time I go. read more

Best Italian food in Brazoria County. Love the angry snapper, the calamari, tomato basil & crap bisque soups, and the stuffed shrimp with spicy marinara is to die for. If you are wanting pizza theirs is very yummy. My only problem is it's very crowded inside. read more

The best Italian I have had....I have "een to Italian resturaunt in St Louis...Chicago...Houston...and many others and find this to be the best I have found in the USA. Best restaurant for dinner in town, period. Food is shockingly good and they will work with gluten allergies... it's a thing people, not a fad. The parking lot is pretty bad and it's the wild west on actually where to park as some patrons get a little liberal with what constitutes a parking spot... you might be squeezing past a dually to get in the front door. The restaurant itself is rather worn out and the men's bathroom was, apparently, modeled after a Southwest Airline's plane... it's small is what I'm saying people. Regardless of the tired aesthetics and complete disregard for professional maintenance... lots of tape on the A/C ducts... BUT that duct tape works, Giovanni's is the place to go. A diamond in the rough here in angleton. They serve the best Italian food I've ever had and I've been to quite a few places I would chose this place over carrabbas any day. Portions are huge service is great I have to start eating here more often. My goal is to try everything on the menu ! Happened upon this place. Didn't have a reservation but we were lucky enough to get a table. Although not a fan of Italian food, I found many options I wanted to try. Bread was amazing, hot and crispy when brought to the table. Salad was made with such fresh greens and ingredients there was no need to use dressing of any kind. My seafood manicotti with Alfredo sauce was perfect and my husband's dish was wonderful. The portions were huge. It is not a place I would want to take small children as it is quite small and the tables are quite close together. My only negative would Be that the noise level was a bit above comfortable. The food here is GREAT. We were all extremely pleased with our choices. The steak is truly melt in your mouth and the other dishes were so tasty. We ordered calamari as appetizer and they brought a mountain of it. All the dishes were large as well, we all took home some food. They are not open everyday and I heard it is pretty much by reservation only or expect a long wait, which people are willing to do. I do agree with Whitney, the place is crowded & tiny, atleast in the front section where we were. I would suggest reserving a booth so you are not in the middle of all the chaos. read more

The food is really good but the lighting is real low. I'm night blind so I can't see anything in there! Had to use my flashlight on my phone to see my plate, find the bathroom, and walk to my table. Not the best dining experience for me. If you can see in the dark, you will love it. read more

Grilled oysters were very good. Veal for Veal Marsala was tough, as it was not pounded. My wife's Alfredo sauce described as creamy, when in fact it was very thick. Salad was fresh and dressing good.Prior ratings have been 5. Service good as always. Update 3 months later, they are back to 5 stars, filet stuffed with cheese and spinach was excellent. Appetizer was good. I got my salad 99% cheese. Then once the main course came out my dads $35 steak came out and was covered in a soup not a sauce and wasn't even cooked to his desired liking. Then after watching him eat for a little bit mine finally came out. My pasta looked like they dumped the hole jar of pasta sauce into my bowl. I had soooo much sauce. The shrimp was over cooked and still had peices of the shell on it. For the prices of this food I was expecting amazing food or at least okay food. I love love love the food here. Our waitress, Logan, was so good to us and even kicked us back some extra dessert at the end. My only complaint (and this is a regular one) is that they really pack the tables in. If they are not violating fire code by having the amount of people in there that they do then they can't be far from it. And whatever you do, if you want a nice dinner where you want to be able to communicate with your dinner guests then do NOT sit back in the bar section. The later it gets the louder it gets. My suggestion would be to try to sit away from people if possible (a booth, or outside) because it does have the momentum to ruin the evening. read more

My wife and I come here when we want a good Italian meal. They also serve an awesome steak. Most items on the menu are really good. Highly recommend the calamari appetizer. I've never had better. It can be crowded (small restaurant) and a line is not unusual on a Friday or Saturday near mealtime, but the wait is usually short. Had only one bad meal that I recall in many visits...meatballs were mushy, and I'll stick with the sausage the next time I want spaghetti. read more

I hate to give a bad review but I have to be honest. We got the 16 oz ribeye and both my husband's and mine were full of grizzle. Not cooked the way we ordered either. This was our second visit and we were very disappointed. We did have reservations, so we didn't have to wait for a table, which was good. The problem was with the kitchen. Our appetizer, stuffed mushrooms, came out cold and had to be sent back. The couple we were dining with ordered the mushrooms and they came out hot. Our entrees didn't come out together and we had to ask about my husband's. The owner said she would take care of it, but we were all through by the time his came out. I had to ask for my side veggie. They did not offer to comp anything, but we should have cancelled his order when it became obvious it wasn't coming out. We will give them another try, and hope it's better next time. Oh, and don't drink the coffee! Truck stop coffee is better than theirs. read more

Finally tried out this little town gem. I had high hopes considering the parking is packed out almost every day. I picked up my order which consisted of pizza, pasta, and desert. Very disappointing birthday dinner. Have dined here several times in the past and it was always great. This time was a HUGE failure! Our table was in walkway & my chair was bumped repeatedly by waitresses & customers. Husbands meal came out 5 minutes before mine. My food was ok but LUKEWARM. Food is great considering it looks like a hole in the wall from the outside. The inside though, is quaint and is a nice atmosphere. IT IS TINY!! You must have a reservation here or you won't be get in. Once inside, it's extremely crowded. The wait staff really isn't that great, I think because they're so busy. Delicious food, attentive waitress, no complaints at all. Yes, the place is small so if you want Texas sized space (or you are Texas sized!) you will not feel comfortable. If there is a wait, just ask that the hostess call you when a table is ready and go wait outside or in your car. We tried to make reservations for our third wedding anniversary on 8/11/2015 and were told that we wouldn't need reservations on a Tuesday night. When we arrived we were asked for our reservations and told we would have to wait since we didn't have any, or we could eat on the patio. It was 90 degrees outside and about to rain, so eating outside was not appealing. Management needs to do serious training with whomever answers phones and takes reservations, this is crazy. read more

This is the first time in 3 years to go to Giovanni's on my birthday, it is always closed for the 4th, this year they opened back up for the 5th. Like always the food is Awesome, the service is awesome, the waitress came back often to check on us, the manager also checked on us. Everything was hot, except my salad which in it self was very filling and oh My we had the Drunkin King Crab with Shrimp Skimpy and it was super. No matter who you are you always go home with a box of something. Been going here on and off for about 5 years and the food no matter what you get is great. Enjoy! Enjoy!
