This by far was THE most extradorinaiy experience I have been blessed with in my 12 years of restaurant critic experience. For context, I am an AVID diner. I have flown to hundreds of restaurants throughout France, Russia, Albania, Estonia, and even the small and rarely recognized state of Italy. The antipasto here is extraordinary, the pasta is superb, the drinks beyond anything you can imagine (especially the free Italian soda they provide when you create a review for this establishment), and the service is kind and wholeheartedly considerate. I had Groupon coupon so I wanted to give this place a try. I made a reservation at 7:30 pm. The restaurant was pretty busy, so it was promising. The table bread was tasteless. I ordered Crab cakes: 3 big ball shaped pieces. Salty. 2 sauces-sweet Thai Chili sauce and house sauce (like mayonnaise mixes with hot sauce). Overall it was so so. Pork shanks: came with fettuccine dill cream sauce. The pork wasn't cooked long enough. It was not fell of the bone. Some part was still tough. The sauce was bland and no fragrance. Really disappointed by our experience here on 1/6. I've emailed my experience to the management which I've only done one other time in my life. We had a Groupon and we thought we'd try this place. I'm Italian and always on the hunt for real Italian food. We made reservations per the Groupon requirements. I had to repeat my name and phone number each three separate times because the hostess couldn't understand me. When we pulled up, we were surprised because the restaurant is the size of a small house with zero parking. We parked across the street and walked to the front door, being greeted by an icy walkway with a large sign stating to be aware of the ice instead of being smart and having sand or ice melt on the sidewalk. Walking in, you're immediately in the bar area since it's a small establishment. The host stand is a side table pushed against the wall. The hostess met us with a weird smile and walked us to our table. The acoustics in this restaurant are very loud, almost unbearable. They installed white boards that hang from the ceiling that are a monstrosity and my husband was wondering if they were to help with the noise. Mandy, our waitress, didn't introduce herself or give any kind of hello. Her opening statement was, "What do you want to drink?" Surprised, we told her. She returned shortly later to get our order. I wasn't ready yet but just picked the lamb lollipops since my husband was ready. He ordered the penne chicken mango which we both thought odd, but he likes odd things. Also, not Italian, but who cares if someone likes it. My husband inhaled the bread and after waiting 35 minutes, our entrees were delivered. I was taken aback as my entire dish was cold. Not warm - cold. Not only that, the mixed vegetables of carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and squash were old, visibly old. One could see the browning happening over them plus the white streaks in the carrots and dried out, split ends. I had ordered the lamb lollipops which were stone cold. Also, I asked for medium well and they were well which translates into overdone for lamb, especially for lollipops. Plus the sweet potato waffle fries were cold. My husband was halfway done with his meal before we saw an employee again and we asked for our waitress. She came by and I told her my entire dish was cold plus the vegetables were old. Before I could say anything else, she picked up the dish and started to walk away then said she'd get a new one. When I started to speak again, she interrupted me and said she would replace it with the same dish then left. About ten minutes went by and I was given a new lamb lollipop entree. It was clearly the same exact food, just tossed around to be warmed up then thrown onto a new plate. Starving and frustrated, I ate the lamb and some veggies that looked halfway decent. The waitress came by, asked my husband how he was and offered to get him more bread which he wanted. It was never brought to him. My husband enjoyed his entree and said he would order it again. When the waitress came over to take away our plates, she said she would give us free dessert but we declined. We wanted to just leave. She brought the check over about ten minutes later and said she took my entree off the check. We went home and I made myself dinner. Our Groupon wasn't used and I'm not going back to use it. I am sitting here on a very warm day after a long ish walk from the ferry on this restaurants, lovely, shady patio, drinking a delicious stout and awaiting my crusty garlic bread. I will be taking home quite a large takeout order to some people who cannot go out, and I look forward to that the staff has been incredibly friendly and helpful. The menu had something for everyone for which I am grateful. Love it here. read more

This place used to be my favorite place for happy hour, they have taken away pretty much every appetizer/menu item we've loved. They had things like fried cauliflower, fried zucchini, spicy mozz sticks etc. They had cheap side salads and pastas on happy hour, and in the last couple years just slowly taken them away. I understand raise in prices and so on but this place just isn't the same as it used to be. The only benefit I'll give them is their waitstaff is always very nice and the one dish that they have left from our favorites is very good. If you want strictly good Italian this place is alright. read more

Four of us ate there this evening. The food was absolutely delicious and portions were large. Two of us had a special - plank salmon with wild rice and quinoa and asparagus. Absolutely delicious! Two of us had the wild mushroom risotto. Also delicious! The bread was really good too. We also had desserts - the flourless chocolate cake was to die for and the ice cream with espresso - amazing. Fish taco was decent. Fish was crispy, but could use some extra flavor. Pork tenderloin was horrible. The pork was extremely salty, while the pasta part of the dish was completely bland. Went to Girardi's yesterday, June 26 and ordered they are ribeye with a lobster sauce. The food was horrible. The meat was raw I asked for medium well medium and it came and raw when a lot of sauce to cover the flavor. The food was horrible. I had indigestion all night, it did not taste good at all. If you're hungry, and in a hurry... This is definitely not the place to go. They have a decent happy hour menu (which is the only reason why I would go here), but I wouldn't say it's worth the wait at all. I've been here a couple times and everything seems to take FOREVER. Once they seat you, it takes a good 5-10 minutes just for someone to give you water. Another 15 for your server to take your order, and maybe a good 30 minutes for the food. Not sure why the service is slow when the restaurant doesn't have many customers in the first place. They aren't very friendly either. Side note: This place smells like downtown Seattle. NOT the best quality but their Happy Hour simply cant be beat! With super extensive menu with various meats, seafood, and vegetarian Italian dishes to choose from, I cannot resist the cheap prices during Happy Hour! My two dishes, Lobster and Salmon Ravioli had a weird flaky texture and undercooked dough and Shrimp Manicotti had ground shrimp and overcooked noodles. The variety and assortment available on the menu is abundant, which is great. I'm not a huge fan of American-Italian food, but this restaurant get points for its great location, charm, happy hour, and menu selection. As far as culinary quality of the dishes, it's average to good, but not more...which is more than enough for a typical outing for most people. The cocktail was a good flavor, but lacked the tail. Food was decent, albeit heavy. My halibut and veggies came swimming in an oil and wine reduction (or lack there of - see photo) and aside from all the oil the fish was a bit dry - my friend's pork dish on pasta was generous but 2/3 of it went into a take home box for two more meals. The space was nice and had lots of patio seating. After waiting about 15 min for our server to appear we told him right away that we were in a time crunch. He said he would get our order in and put a rush on it. Great news, I thought! The food came out rather quickly but then getting our check was slow and getting everything completed at the end of the meal was very very slow. I had a prescription I needed to pick up in Lynnwood before seeing a play in Edmonds but ended up completely missing the window of time to do that and now have to make a whole separate trip up to Lynnwood (I live in Seattle about 40 min away.) Also I used a Groupon Voucher and the server took my phone somewhere to process it and was gone for 5 minutes. This is always disconcerting to me as an unlocked phone is a dangerous thing to leave in the hands of a stranger who disappears for any matter of time. At other restaurants they have written down the voucher number rather than handling patrons' personal phones. This can be a liability if a phone is dropped - so in general it would be better if they didn't handle people's phones. I would like to update my review. Things have really changed since we last came in. First of all, there is no more happy hour menu. They also have taken away lots of great menu options like the kale salad, and the fried avocados. All of the products have decreased in quality. Coming here is depressing. The worst part of all is the owner, Fred. Fred is out of touch with his customers and don't know what they want. Don't even get me started with the coupon situation, it has been handled horribly. Fred, you are NOT cut out for the service industry and you should find another place for employment, you have failed! read more

I used to love this restaurant, but it's not the same anymore. The food was good, but expensive, but that's true of a lot of restaurants now. When we asked them to split up our check, they didn't immediately know how to do it. We marked on the check which items we had. They tried again. The wine was full price and it was supposed to be half off, and the items were not itemized, so they had to do it again. It took an extra 20 minutes to get our checks right. They seemed very irritated as well. I ask other restaurants to split up the check between the two of us, and it's no problem. read more
