Concerns Over 160 Driving Academy's Temporary Suspension of PTO Accruals…read more Recently, 160 Driving Academy's CEO Steve Gold announced a temporary suspension of Paid Time Off (PTO) accruals for all employees, effective June 15, 2025. This decision affects every level of staff--from hardworking CDL instructors and support personnel to managers and possibly even corporate employees. While the official communication framed this as a cost-management strategy, it lacked transparency on the root causes and failed to acknowledge the human impact of this policy. PTO is not just a company benefit--it is a crucial part of supporting work-life balance, mental health, and personal well-being. These are not luxuries; they are necessities for people who perform physically demanding and safety-critical roles every day. For instructors training the next generation of commercial drivers and for those who support that mission, time off is essential for avoiding burnout and maintaining high standards of service. 160 Driving Academy has built relationships with major partners like Amazon, Amazon Career Choice, Swift Transportation, and Freeworld--a tech-enabled nonprofit company that aims to end generational poverty and recidivism by accelerating economic mobility for returning citizens, which is good for society as a whole. These partners may rightly begin to ask: Is this an organization that values its people? Is it stable enough to invest in?. The legality of suspending PTO accruals varies from state to state, depending on local labor laws. However, the broader and more urgent question is not legal--it's ethical and practical:What will this do to employee morale? How will it affect performance, retention, and the reputation of 160 Driving Academy? In times of financial difficulty, transparency, shared sacrifice, and leadership empathy are critical. When cost-saving measures are implemented without meaningful dialogue, it sends a message that the burden falls solely on employees. We urge the leadership of 160 Driving Academy to reconsider or clarify this decision and provide a timeline for reinstating PTO accruals. Long-term success cannot be built on the erosion of trust, morale, and well-being

I also have a cousin that is interested in pursuing her CDL Class B, so this is why I decided to check this place out. Philyica was very kind and knowledgeable, she answered all my questions and was nice enough to let me take pics for yes... another 1st for me ! Philyica did inform me that they do not train for class B CDL, and they do train for class A. All good information, I will be informing my cousin about this place. If you're looking to be trained she also mentioned they have a payment process to assist with that. Check this place out it's next door to teriyaki madness!

We went with their gold package as well as the pre-drive test refresher course. We were really happy with the knowledge of the instructors and the availability of lessons. We were able to schedule a couple of drive lessons with the same instructor, as well as with other instructors for how different people teach. The drive test refresher was also a welcome lesson. John H. was amazing! We had arranged he would pick up our son from the house and then we would meet them at the DMV for the scheduled drive test. We had a little paperwork issue which was my fault, but John was there and got me the right contact to be able to remedy the issue quickly and still be able to take the drive test. I really appreciate the level of knowledge and care Cantor's puts into their instructors.

From Day 1, John made me feel safe, supported, and capable. His direct and repetitive guidance helped me internalize everything so I could improve quickly and build real confidence behind the wheel. He walked me through all kinds of driving scenarios to help me overcome my anxiety. His calm, patient, and straightforward teaching style made a huge difference. The day before my road test, he ran the full route with me multiple times and practiced the tight Henderson parking until I felt completely ready. I passed my road test with flying colors--100% score, which I was told is rare. I highly recommend John!

For a new driver I think this is very misleading Next my son rescheduled an appointment got a confirmation text from the driver "confirming a 3:00 pm time" and the appointment day came the next day and they showed up at noon. When we sent in the screen shot they STILL want to charge us the $50 Reschedule fee since the text was "a mistake" Edit: I have previously spoken to the online assistance personal & they informed the owner, I was told they would waive the fee in 24hrs but they never did when I followed up again they told me I would need to speak to the owner since after review "although the text was a mistake but the time was correct" again, I'm busy and if a text straight from the business confirms a time (which we provided) that should be honored my 17 year old was going off the last communication provided by the business They can keep the $50 we will be going elsewhere.

My son wanted his last driving day to be closer to the day of his driving test. Of course the DMV's testing was 6 weeks out. Safe Driving School still accommodated and allowed for the change. My son felt super comfortable in the car that he was driving. I felt comfortable allowing them to take my son because they have the brakes and accelerator on their side. My son drove on the highway and even the strip area. I even still get anxious driving on the strip at times. After the drive, Dwayne would let me know what my son still needed to work on and what he did really good on. We had the pleasure of meeting Alicia and Dwayne and both were great. My son felt really comfortable with Dwayne and Dwayne did more evenings. My vision isn't as good in the evenings so I was really appreciative that we could book out in the evening with somebody else driving with my son. Safe Driving School gave my son the confidence to drive and gave me confidence that his skills would be better tuned when I drove with him. I love that they pick him up and drop him off. It was super convenient. They never shorted him any time, it was always the full two hours and they were always on time. The company is very professional and friendly. I highly recommend Safe Driving School. And just a little note to add, my son passed his driving exam on the first time and received a high score. Thank you Safe Driving School and Dwayne for all of your support.

My grandson finished his lessons in December. Circumstances prevented him from taking his test until 2/23. We went to DMV, and there was Lynn waiting. My grandson was scheduled for 2:20. They called for his test about 3:30. He was then able to use their vehicle. Mind you, these delays were on my end, and the contract with Safe Driving School was completely satisfied, but yet there was Lynn today. This was all done today on their dime! I had NO idea that a business with this level of customer CARE existed anywhere today. It is worth every cent I spent. I would/will do it again in a heartbeat! And with the 15% monthly discount on my insurance, it will literally pay for itself! THANK YOU LYNN AND SAFE DRIVING SCHOOL!
