I've been to Gitana's a few times in my day, but, I think I won't be visiting this place anymore (unless I HAVE to). I'm pretty much over it. I'll have to admit, that I actually really like the fact that this place serves Starbucks coffee, and their food is actually really good. Their sampler is really good (includes; hot wings, mottz sticks, fries, and chicken tenders.) I loved their fatoush salad, the bread stays crispy. Pizza, has a thin crust which I really like. Plus we ordered extra cheese which made it better. If you order a sandwich here, get a wrap or a pita wrap. Their french bread roll is just too hard in my opinion. Also, they don't offer free refills on soda, and it's over priced. $9 for five little hot wings, if you order the hot wings appetizer plate. Everytime I smoke hookah here, I leave with a headache. Not only that, but, the bowl burns sooo fast. They must pack it incorrectly, or purposely, just so they can sale more refills. This place offers, both indoor/ourdoor seating, has a full bar, && plays music and sporting events inside. They also offer a VIP section. I hate the fact that they only have one bathroom stale for each gender. I've waited outside the girls bathroom before for 15 minutes while a group of girls did their hair and make up. Not a fan of that. Last night, was probably one of the worst experiences I had here. My boyfriend and I quickly learned about their "One Drink Minimum" rule. Which is fine with us, but, the waitress could have been a little more informative from the beginning. This is what happened... When my boyfriend and I got to our table, I ordered a Starbucks drink, and my boyfriend asked for water. The waitress asked if bottle is fine. He asked if they serve just water in a glass, and she said no. Later, my friend joins our table, ordering a starbucks drink. A few minutes later, he asked the waitress for water. In return, she asks, bottled or tap. My boyfriend and I looked at eachother in confussion as we watch our waitress return with a glass of water for my friend. We asked her, why she had stated that tap water was not avaible for us, but it was for my friend. She explains, how they have a one drink minimum policy. My boyfriends point was, that he had asked for water in the beginning but later order coffee, so you can't offer a free water to one peson at the table and not the other just because one started off with a coffee and one order the water first. You never know what your costumer is going to order, which in the case, she should have been a little more informative, and not have basically lied to us. She also stated that there is a sign by the bar that states this policy. Umm, we were sitting outside so we never saw it. But, as we walked by the bar to leave, we saw the little tiny sign behind the bar. We didn't care, $3 doesn't hurt our pocket, it's just the principal of it. Overall, this place is okay. I live in Murrieta, Ca., and I drive out here for the hookah. There is no other hookah in out there that makes me jizz my pants like the hookah here. I've never had a bad experience ever and I'm looking forward to many more 5 star visits. Why yes, yes I did just make a yelp account solely to give this place an atrocious rating. Where do I begin? Well I've been to Gitana a handful of times mostly because my lovely company and I didn't feel like driving to Encino-- so I've given this place plenty of chances but, alas, I am not returning ever again. I can't. Sorry. Here we go: 1. The hookah sucks. Seriously, I can make better hookah with a match, a flower vase full of water, a straw, and some paper towels. The last time I went here, the hose was filled with ash. Literally! I told the coal dude (who was a really odd fellow) to give it a try and he started coughing/gagging all over the place. Anyway, they changed the hose, did not apologize, and we all continued on with our boring night. I would also like to mention that the coal sucks just as much as their hookah packing technique. WELL PLAYED GITANA. 2. Perhaps the suckiest of the suckiness of this place is the service. All the waitresses are literally 1/2 snail and 1/2 bitch. Not only do they offer the slowest service on the earth's surface, but they bring out wrong orders and have major attitude issues as well. I'm sorry that I'm not a guy and you can't flirt your way to a hefty tip with me. Actually, I'm not sorry, do your job. I ended up still tipping my waitress even though she ignored us all night only because she was actually really nice, she was just kind of stupid. 3. Every hookah place has it's share of annoying people but this place is full of so many girls eyeing you up and down and mentally calculating the net worth of your outfit. Back off leprechauns. Also, beware-- there WILL be kids driving up and down the street while unnecessarily revving their engines and bumping music. You may lose either your hearing or your sanity. 4. Food is meh. I personally never order food here anymore because it comes out cold 97% of the time. The only thing good about this place is that they serve alcohol but I've never ordered it 'cause I feel like they'll "accidentally" serve me poison. This is one of those places where you just can't wait to leave and go somewhere else (but of course your waitress will make you wait for that too). read more

This place, Ive been coming here for years. The food is absolutely 100% freah and when i say fresh i mean fresh! The salads, meats, fruits, the list goes on. Now its funny how ive been here about 500 times and i just realized ive never written a review. Well, here it is... to start off, Mike manager of this establishment has done an incredible job running this place. Example, training the staff, always making sure the orders are coming out in a timely manner. Ive noticed these things when im here. Too many people take the time to complain instead of Complementing the service and staffs here! Back to the food, they have a wide menu selection which is Surprisingly not expected from and place that serves hookah. I mean kebabs and humas is expected but PIZZA? Hamburgers? Oh and if you want that patty medium rare, yup they will do that too. Drinks? Yuuuuup that got that too, more than just a Johnie Walker.... ohhh have we even mentioned the shisha flavors they got?! My favorite.... TANGIERS CANE MINT. Oh man, if you like MINT, they got it here, and its the BEST and i mean BEST MINT flavor in the world. AND STRONG AS F....... lol. True story.... unlike alot of other places you need to ask for fresh coconut coals, they got guys walking around every few minutes making sure your shisha is evenly heated. Worse service. Even when this place isn't full the service is the worse. Getting a water to your table takes 20 minutes. Getting fries to your table takes 1 hour. Getting food to your table or even the right order forget about it. And the hookah is eh. read more

Hands down the best hookah lounge I've been to. I gladly drive down to Gitanas all the way from Norwalk because I know that I won't be disappointed. This was my first time back after their remodeling and I was pretty impressed with the look of the place. Our waitress was really nice and so were the charcoal guys outside. I had dinner with my cousin's girlfriend at Kabuki right before so we were just there for hookah and some coffee. Hookah was awful. I know I am just a girl who looks like she doesn't know much about hookah but I know the difference between a nicely made bowl and a half assed one. For 20-some dollars I expect a hookah that actually hits. Stop being so cheap with the tobacco! I asked them to fix it about 3 times then finally gave up and just left it alone. Big disappointment. So it's cool that they 'Proudly Brew Starbucks Coffee' but when I ask for Arabic tea, I want the old fashioned tea in a tea cup WITH ENDLESS REFILLS. I do not like drinking tea out of a Starbucks container. My cousin's girlfriend did not necessarily enjoy her something something cappuccino either. Ehh.. It was a Friday night full of 18-20 year old boys trying to look cool making Os. There was also the occasional table full of Wannabe Barbies with their short dresses and high heels. Really ladies?? Whatever. Don't catch me hating. lol. I guess I am just bitter since I am over the hookah phase. Now that i am old enough to drink, hookah is no longer the highlight of my night. Im giving this place a low rating for the price of food, lack of customer assistance, and the fact that the waitress took our extra change and made it as her tip without letting us know. Dont recommend at all, service was really horrible. Food was 30 minutes late, and they got the order wrong, had to take it back and we waited another 20 minutes for it to come out. I thought at least the hookah would be good but it sucked, everything that could have gone wrong at this place went wrong, it seemed like no one knew what they were doing, and I was there on a Saturday when it should be a busy day for them and they should have top notch service. The Hookah is great but gawd the food sucks! I tried couple of dishes and didnt like any of it. The pizza is all cheese melted, the meat they use it tastes old, the rice plates are glued together, i barely chew on their beef product. I have to say I've gave this place many chances, the manager and waitress are very well, the food every time I've ate here it's been good, I've enjoyed it but honestly 90% of the time the hookah is not good, smoked for about 10 minutes tops and the flavor was like charcoal, the guy who was fixing our hookah was honestly disrespectful and I was just in shock, they replaced the bowl and this time it was actually okay, but I've been here a couple of times and I would say there has only been one time where the hookah was actually good from beginning to end. Had gone there for the first time and loved it. The food was amazing and service top notch. I am not one to smoke Hookah but don't think of this place as just a place where you can smoke Hookah. It is a restaurant and the Hookah no way interfered with how much I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The service was amazing. The staff is super friendly and accommodating But they don't over bug you. They know how to bring forth awesome service and are quick and helpful in recommending dishes if your not sure what you want. I noticed too they had a full bar and it didn't seem anyone was having to wait for their drinks. If you are looking for a great place to go out and have a delicious dinner with great service, you should definitely put this on the list of places to try. I am sure it will become a place you will want to return to. read more

UNDERSTAFFED UNDERSTAFFED UNDERSTAFFED! I don't know what or why or even how but it's always understaffed. Got here at 9:50 just got my food now at 10:47 . Got our drinks at 10:30 .. granted it was just a tea and water. 10:48pm now and as of now our hookah isn't here yet. They have two servers working and they are bombarded! Just found out the hookah order wasn't placed. The owner needs to step up and hire more people or at least have people on call that can assist the staff. One of the waitresses is just terribly slow. In the hours now that we've been here. Only came to check up once which we told we were going to put in another order for food but at this point it really doesn't look like it since we have to wait probably another hr just to receive it. We enjoy coming here regularly but it's getting out of hand the amount of times this is happening. The price of the menus doesn't reflect the service you get with it. Pretty sad. Very cool and calm place to come smoke some hookah with your friends, especially at night. Their packs are pretty good and they have a wide variety of flavors that you can choose from. This place is also a restaurant and their food on their menu is really good as well. My friends and I always think of Gitana when we want to satisfy our hookah craving. Employees are nice and chill with their customers. Definitely recommend this place! read more

Hookah here is as good as it gets when it comes to most lounges. I've been here 5-10 times, it's pretty ok. If you want great hookah, you'll have to drive a bit further. The food's not bad, the service is all right too (I've had much worse at other lounges). They used to have quite a nice setup inside with couches, but the other day I walked by and it seems that they changed the layout and got rid of the couches, replacing everything with tables/chairs. I personally prefer being able to lay back and hang out when smoking hookah, rather than stiffly sitting upright. I think that was something good they have going for their restaurant, it's too bad they got all fancy. I think it's also worth mentioning that their house tea mix is pretty awesome. read more

3 stars only because they offer Tangiers tobacco ($21). Like most hookah bars, the people handling the hookah are the best employees there. The waitresses act like they're better than you, and service is kind of slow. I would prefer to smoke here rather than Cafe O next door though. I think their hookah is much better than Cafe O's, but the ambience is different. This place is for a more mature crowd, so they won't have loud mainstream music playing like they do at O. read more

i have been a patron of Gitana's for years...i think maybe since somewhere around 2001-2002. when i first started going here, me and the friends would roll in about 15-20 DEEP and take up all the tables. checks were always fat checks. we dropped and continue to drop $$ there. the service has slowed down slightly i think because of the younger servers they have now. wait times are kinda heavy for a hookah and some dishes, but other then that, its still my favorite hookah spot. read more

As much I used to love this place, the past 3 or 4 times I've gone has been a disappointment. The management and charcoal guys are nice, but the newer waitresses are horrible. The worst part is that the hookah has failed us every time lately. We used to stay here for a few hours at a time and enjoy chill evenings. But everything has declined. Sad to say that we've been opting for other hookah lounges. Hope that they change the quality of service and make sure they maintain their hookahs. For the prices we pay for "premium" tobacco, we should be having a better experience. I hope they make improvements. It would be nice to come back and have a more enjoyable experience. read more
