One could make an argument, and rightfully so, that pizza is not a dish requiring reinvention. Yet, we are humans, we cannot stop ourselves at the Neapolitan classic version, the iconic NYC slices nor the Chicago deep dish. Something within us, is tirelessly reinventing. Whether good or bad, someone else can decide. A real distinction of Pizza Grace is in its most fundamental element, and the aspect that one could argue to be the most important part of any pizza, period. Of course, that would be the crust. The crust here is created with wild yeast sourdough, called "Frank", resulting in a unique profile regardless of what later lands on top of the pizza. Let's pause here for just a second, is it not ridiculous having to wait 24-48 hours for the slow crust fermentation to happen? Apparently, the owners Chef Ryan Westover and his wife Helene didn't think so. Their signature pizza here is no less impressive either: topped with Louisiana crawfish, ricotta, Parmesan, mint and basil. It is a true star of the show. It's hard for most people to pinpoint exactly where they had the best pizza of their life, but this warehouse building in Alabama might just end up being that spot. read more

Wonderful service for Sunday lunch! This highlight here is totally the dough -- you can tell it's super fresh and has that great sour flavor. The 14" pizza is the perfect amount to split between two people. I love this location, and the gelato spot next door is the cherry on top. Parking on Morris Ave can be difficult some evenings, but well worth it. I love that you can see into the kitchen. I love Pizza Grace! This is my second time here and I had to get the garlic bread again. I'll probably get it every time and could just eat this as my meal. Highlyyyy recommend. We split the pepperoni and the Calabrian, which is on their summer menu and has chicken on it and is so flavorful. Their sourdough crust is really good and just a solid pizza overall. They do not do reservations so it's always good to get there early and put your name down. We are here on a Sunday at 11 am. The restaurant is not too big but they do have outdoor seating. We had the Caesar salad and it was plenty for two to share. The fried capers and sourdough crisps were a nice touch. We ate the pepperoni pizza and got a pizza that was half the mushroom/olive and Nardello. The crust was sourdough perfection. We came to Pizza Grace on a Friday, for an early dinner. Upon arrival, it wasn't busy(AT ALL) but we blinked and this places was full of pizza wanting patrons! This isn't the biggest restaurant. It's comfortable and you don't feel like you are sitting on top of anyone. The ambiance is relaxed and decorated nicely. My fav part is the exposed bricks. Table seating, a few bar seats and some high table top seats are available. We ordered the pepperoni pizza with mushrooms on 1/2. I also requested a side of hot honey. The pizza was quite tasty and I loved the sourdough crust. The ingredients were fresh & of great quality. Our server was really polite and kept our water glasses full. I also had a Good people IPA. They have a respectable wine list but had limited beer options. If you come here, parking on Morris Ave could be a challenge. Thankfully , it wasn't for us. This was my first time at Pizza Grace. One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Birmingham!! I would eat here once a week if I could. It's a cute, unassuming spot off the charming cobblestone Morris Avenue. The pizzas and apps are always perfect. They also have the cutest rotating wine menu in collaboration with Golden Age Wine in MTB. The servers are also always so kind and not in a rush. If I could change anything, it would be to take some reservations. I have had to sadly pass up on doing several meals here due to not wanting to bring a group to a restaurant without reservations. Additionally, would love to see a slightly more enhanced outdoor seating area. read more

Pizza Grace just opened under new ownership, and it is still delicious. Tucked into mercantile, it offers both indoor and outdoor seating, which is perfect for summertime. Our service was attentive and efficient. The white pie was our favorite for tonight. We tried the watermelon granita which was so refreshing. This past weekend, we went to Pizza Grace because the original owners sold it to the owners of Big Spoon Creamery. So, out of fear and curiosity, we wanted to see if our favorite pizza place was still our favorite pizza place. Let's just start. The garlic bread--they switched the focaccia with pizza dough, spread fairly thin so it was light and crispy--and they swapped the garlic oil for garlic butter with herbs. This was actually really good! We both enjoyed it and thought the flavor of the butter was way better than the original garlic olive oil spread. However, I think they should have kept the focaccia bread and just swapped the olive oil with the garlic and herb butter. That would have been an easy 10/10. But unfortunately, even though it was still very good, it gets an 8.5/10. The pizza itself was still basically the same. We got the pepperoni pizza. Upon arrival and tasting, we could tell they cut back on the red pepper flakes, which we were both happy about. Our main issue was the fact that we could tell, visually, the pizza was smaller and not as big as it used to be. We didn't like that we were paying basically the same price for less pizza. I'd recommend either making the pizzas bigger again or lowering the price. This also would have been a 10/10, but we're taking off points for the pizza being visibly smaller and giving it a 9.5/10. For dessert, I got the Big Spoon Bar, which has fior di latte, salted caramel, TCHO chocolate, sea salt, and hazelnut in it. No notes here--easy 10/10. I literally could not complain. First bite was heaven! All in all, this was very good with only a few minor disappointments. Is this still my favorite pizza place? Yes. Will I return? Yes, I will--but I also think it depends on whether they adjust the price or return the pizza to its original size. That's literally just how we feel since we've been going there for years. I could eat the Gnudi as a meal. It was so comforting. We shared the Peach & Prosciutto pizza and added the Eastaboga Hot Honey. It was superb. The tart and sweet peaches mingle well with the mint, balsamic, and salty prosciutto. Leftovers were also fabulous. Pizza Grace is my favorite sit-down pizza spot in Birmingham. I would definitely recommend this pizza spot for date nights due to its comfortable, but classy atmosphere, and shareable portions. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so staff was very attentive. I love the cobblestone streets outside and the plethora of windows inside. There is also outdoor seating that is shaded in, which is ideal for the spring and summertime. Another great addition that they included was little hooks under the tables to hang you purse on while dining. It is also next door to the best gelato! This place is especially great because of their homemade sourdough crust. We chose to share the chorizo pizza and it reminded me of Spanish cuisine which I love. I really loved the pairing of the chorizo, olives, manchego, and hot honey. I love eating my pizza with ranch and was a bit disappointed that it was so small while being $2 extra.
