This restaurant used to be one of my favorite real food reasonably priced place to go to once a week minimum. Management has changed the last year. Now the quality has sunken and badly managed. The manager popped in and left. The cook over cooks the food even if I told him to stop cooking. He left the meat in chunks waiting for it to cook. By the time the clumps of meat cooks through, they become dry, hard, chewy, and the vegetables becomes soggy and overcooked. He did not properly spread the meat because he was busy cooking another order on the same cooking surface. No manager was there keeping up the quality. This went on the last three times I was there. The manager hired less people instead, causing the dining area to be messy with dirty tables and floor because the poor waitress was too busy to do it all. It's too bad. I won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

Used to be a good place. Today, it was a complete mess. Tables unbussed, the prep line was a complete disaster area with spilled food. Prep line also poorly stocked. Customers were left waiting in line to sit, to pay, and even to pick up. One guy stood around for at least 20 minutes, he asked where his food was and was told it hadn't been made because they were too busy to make it. Little if any respect for their patrons. They could have used an extra person at the very least, maybe two. The ones there were overworked and confused. As I paid my bill for 2, I was told, 2 lunches, 2 drinks and was given an amount. I reminded her there was only 1 drink and somehow the price for 2 lunches and 1 drink became more than the first amount she gave me. It will probably be some time before I return there. I am a regular and have been satisfied with service thus far. But this last time, a new waitress named Diana, made my experience WAY more amazing. I am kind of surprised this place is 3 stars. I think it should at least be 4/4.5. My boyfriend and I came here looking for lunch. It reminded us of Great Khan's, where you fill your bowl and then the chefs in the back cooks whatever you were able to stuff into your bowl. When we came, they had a mini special going on where if you order take out, you get a free drink. This may be to discourage eating indoors at their place. I am totally for it. When it comes to the process of filling the bowl, I feel like there is a technique to get the most out ingredients for your meal. Start with meat, choose the flat slices, then go to the veggies section, and then return back to top everything with noodles. Total was about $12 something and we got a free wonton along with the meal. Though, I would probably suggest the restaurant to do away with the free wonton. Poor customer service. I've been coming to this place for YEARS, I am a loyal customer. Last night I drove 2 whole hours to eat here, not a lot of people will do that but I did, in traffic mind you. On my way there I got into a minor car accident so I was hoping the food would be worth it, which it was but my experience was NOT. Usually when I come here, I get 2 bowls (one for noodles and one for my vegetables and meat) because the bowls they give, aren't big enough and I like to take my left overs home. Mind you, nobody tells you when you take 2 bowls that you won't be able to take it home... We finish up our meal and get to the counter to ask for to go boxes and they tell me I can't have a to go box. Excuse me? Why can't I take the food I PAID FOR, home??? He tells me because I did the "all you can eat" option when I took 2 bowls. Manager told me I'd have to pay for TWO MEALS INSTEAD OF ONE if I wanted to get a to go box..... Mind you, they tell you this is posted on the signs in the restaurant but the ONLY sign he pointed to said "Dinner AYCE". Does anyone know what this means? Not me. Apparently it means all you can eat. Good to know now LOL! Manager was super rude, giggling at the situation, did not want to accommodate me even when I told him I'm a loyal customer.... When my friend asked for a bag to put her to go box in, I found a way to take my food home even though I couldn't get a damn to go box. HAHA jokes on them I was still able to enjoy my leftovers without having to pay extra. Will never come back here. One of the reasons I hate CA and will be moving to another state in August. Prior to this week, the last time I had Mongolian BBQ was in China. This was a fantastic improvement. I feel like this place should average 4 star reviews easily and I am surprised it only has 3. The price is more than reasonable ~ For lunch I spent under $12 for a bowl of BBQ {more on that later :)} soup, eggroll and a soda! The restaurant was clean and well organized. All the containers were stocked with food. If you don't eat your first bowl, they give you a container to take it home in and if you have a healthy appetite, you can go back as many times as you like. Staff does get busy, but this is a busy place and no wonder with good food at good prices. I will definitely be back! read more

A chef there is completely rude, he added a sauce to my food without asking which one I had on my bowl, when I questioned the sauce he said it was "house sauce" and I asked if it had selfish (I have a selfish allergy) his response was "pretty sure they all do" I asked the lovely cashier and she confirmed the house sauce has selfish in it. I informed her that I was allergic and she apologized and told me I could make another bowl and would have the other chef make it and clean the grill. I was already upset at this point and didn't want to go through the hassle of everything and told her I would go else where for food. She handled the situation very well and was not surprised by the actions of this person and said she would speak with him. He was about 5,11" glasses, beard, dark complexion. Food here is normally great and have always had good customer service... but that guy really sucks. I've had food poisoning for a brutal 7 days. I've always been weary on this place, but it being a lot of other restaurants around Tracy close pretty early - I went with GK. The noodles were drenched in grease and oil. I get there's a difference between the sauces that are offered but.. Oh, man. This was the second time I've ordered from GK from doordash and the way it was delivered was not the same as the first. Have been going to this place since it first opened in Tracy. I love the food so much (fresh ingredients and sauces). However, Over the years you can see things change and one of those changes is lack of management or over sight of things. Soda machine is down and no alternative is being offered to customers who chose to have their food to go. Full price is still be charged for to-go orders. The soda/drink machine isn't even being told to patrons as they come in to dine and the have to pay for bottled beverages. Also, staff at times are not attentive to customers (on their phone, rude to customers etc). A lot of oversight when it comes to good customer service. Had GK for an early dinner. Since I get to pick my own ingredients, sauces and oils, it was delicious! I strongly suggest you add the noodles last so everything fits in the bowl. Cooked on the grill before my eyes. Loved it. Even waiting in line was ok because I got to watch each meal prepared on the grill while I waited. It moved along nicely. Service was good. Our server was on her game. She kept up with refilling ingredients, pouring drinks, prepping tables, and still provided one o on one service for everyone in the place with clockwork precision. This a small hole in the wall establishment. It has space to eat and a bathroom. The simplicity is what makes it so comforting, enjoy the experience! The food is 5 star in taste and prep! Used to be one of my go to spots, now that im pregnant i craved it and decided to have an early dinner there. As i walked in things weren't super dirty as on the tables wise... once i got to the line things were a mess. Tongs being used for multiple vegetables etc.. worker tried to clean up a mess someone made but instead of saying excuse me the worker proceeded to walk right in front of me and start sweeping up the mess nearly getting my shoes dirty. As he was sweeping he discretely tried to kill the roach that ran by my foot and sweep it up but it was already bad enough. This is a really good place if you like Mongolian bbq. It's all you can eat which is great and they have a variety of options. If you haven't tried it before it's kind of like chow mein that you create yourself. It is very good and they give you directions on how to fix it up which is very helpful. The only down side is that it is very greasy for me. However it is worth the try and the service is great here! read more

Today was our first time coming to this spot.. & it just might be the last time after what we just experienced. My husband & I walked in at 7:30p... the website says it closes at 9p. So we were already planning to not sit at the restaurant anyways... the lady who I'm assuming is the manager (Asian older lady) was cleaning already... when we walked in she automatically told the employees that it was to go. Without asking us (apparently they close at 8p on Sundays) It was the way she said it... very rude and unwelcoming. Her whole demeanor was very unwelcoming & made my family feel uncomfortable. I had my baby in my arms with my 5 year old next to me so my husband had to prepare three bowls with another customer behind us... the manager comes right behind him & grabs the bowls & places it right in front of him & says "Keep Everything Together!" Umm ok. He's being careful to ensure everything stays in the bowl, preparing three & making sure he's being quick enough... then the guy who is cooking the noodles lol there's no doubt he was ready to go. I understand when it's towards the end of the day, you want to go home. But come on! Can you at least pretend? Can you please update the closing time online? Been going here for years. Today that stops. Every time I come here every table is a complete mess and they only buss tables if someone needs to sit. There's a layer of grease on every table, chair and countertop. That has never stopped me. But tonight we went in after shopping and my son has been pretty sick. I must say, it saddens to have to give this restaurant a 1 star - it was my favorite noddle place... I recently found a metal shaving from one of the steal scrubbers they use to clean the noodle grille in my bowl of noodles. I asked to speak to the manager so I could show them what I discovered and they were off already. I them asked for the managers contact # to speak to him. I asked him for if I could send a photo of what was found in the bowl and the manager did not want to give me his email address. The conversation was not very friendly. My intention was to let the manager know what I found in the food to prevent this from happening to another client. If I would have blindly ate the food / or even worse my children ... it could of been a disaster. This is probably my #2 place to go to in Tracy. The food is always fresh and hello they cook it right there in front of you! It's not too expensive either. The only negative experience I've had here is when someone in front of me must have had a lot of peppers. I don't know why I didn't think to just go get a new bowl (all you can eat) but I went through a lot of water! ****** Back again (11-7-2013) The food was great again this time as was the service. I love to slip into here for lunch. Being able to pick my own food makes me feel virtuous. I usually go for the beef, but chicken, pork, turkey, and tofu are also an option. You can bulk up on the veggies, or skip them altogether. It is entirely up to you. I like playing with the sauce combos. I also really like watching the cooks work the flat top. I could really do without the soup (mostly cabbage) and egg roll they give you, but appreciate the bottomless soda. It's always clean, and never too crowded. Service is good considering its a mixed model (some self serve and some table service). For about $12 including tip, you get a very hearty lunch or modest dinner. Spring an entrance $2 and you can get shrimp. Yum,! read more

Well several friends have been here recently and said it was better, so I decided to give them another try for lunch last week. First, I will say the staff was much friendly then my previous experience over a year ago. So that was a nice change. This has led to the tables being kept bused and clean when empty. Plus the floor was clean and didn't have food or garbage. So whatever change was made in the staff and policy has made a decidedly significant positive impact on a guest's dining experience. Food selection was fair, but I suspect this may have had to do with coming in at the end of lunch and right before they switched to dinner. So will give that a pass and will withhold any negative comment until I go again. Please note that there was enough of what I wanted so it wasn't like I missed something. Although, I guess you don't get a wonton at lunch? The cooking area was clean and well kept as well. So you didn't have the ugh you are putting my food there. The gentleman cooking was polite and friendly. So a definite improvement. The only other point was that in selecting a bowl to put my choices in, I had to set aside 4 bowls that were noticeably dirty. That was the only real negative on this visit. read more

i love coming here whenever i'm in tracy! (wish there was a location closer to me in the san mateo area) i have family in tracy so every time we visit, we always try to eat at GK Mongolian BBQ!! They are COVID prepared and require 6 feet apart at all times and gloves are provided when making your bowl of noodles.
