Food has always been delicious and even when I order online they make it just as good as it would be if I were to put my bowl together myself! I'm truly sorry to have to write this review, as I've enjoyed the dining experience for quite a few years here. However, after today's experience, I am going to have to rethink my support. My wife and I went here on a Sunday late afternoon. It was surprisingly crowded, which normally is a good sign that the business is doing well. Unfortunately, that was part of the problem today. Again, as long as things are efficient and fair, I have no issue waiting for my food to be cooked. We got in line, the server took our drink order, and we began the process of picking our food. We came to a standstill as there were about 6 people ahead of us. Normally, this isn't an issue, as they will add a second cook to expedite things. For a few minutes, there were two people cooking; however, after he prepared two bowls, he disappeared to the back, not to be seen again. So now our wait time has just doubled. In the meantime, our sever has put our soup and rice on the table, which will be lukewarm by the time our food is prepared. Again, I can live with that, as the server was moving as fast as he could. We hadn't moved for 10 minutes now, as the cook decided it was time to clean the wok, a 5 minute process. Ok, I understand at some point it has to be cleaned. It's just unfortunate it has to get done while there's a big line (there are now four people behind us, and still just one person cooking). The straw that broke the camel's back, however, was when one of the employees started to work on 6 to go orders. She very quickly and efficiently assembled the bowls. I told my wife "if they cook those to go orders before us, I'm leaving". My wife asked the person assembling the bowls, and with a tone of some shame and guilt she admitted that yes, they would all be put in to be cooked before ours. My wife sad politely that we would be leaving, and what should we do with our half filled food bowls. The employee was very understanding and apologetic, and said just to leave them where they were. Nobody was rude or not understanding -- just going by 'corporate policy' I suppose. I have a difficult time supporting a business that prioritizes to-go orders over the customers that actually walked through the door and will (hopefully) leave a tip after eating. It would make much more sense if the to go bowls were left uncooked, and when the people came to pick them up (whether it's the customers, door dash, etc.), they would then be cooked. It seems a much more equitable manner of doing business. I'm sure the Door Dash drivers would not be happy with this, but it just seems unfair to punish the customers standing in line. As I mentioned at the start, I've enjoyed dining here, and it saddens me to have to leave this review. However, forewarned is forearmed, and people should know that this business will make their in house customers second class citizens while the to go orders receive priority treatment. read more

Went here for a holiday lunch with co-workers from DLA in Tracy, and there is a DK in Tracy too but this one on 1039 S Main Street in Manteca is worth the drive. Inside is nice, small but quiet, clean and has some great decor showcasing the original Stockton location and owners, so it's great food and interesting history. They put two tables together to seat 8 of us and brought our drinks and appetizers right away. Food stations we well stocked and orderly, everyone had a great time comparing bowls and seeing who could make the most in one shot haha Food was amazing as always, chef cooked it to perfection and our server/host was phenomenal, she really took great care of us and checked in several times and kept up on drinks. So me and my son were doing some Christmas shopping and worked up an appetite lol so we came here. We were greeted and shown where to go to get started which was nice. The young girl working was very helpful told us how everything works and showed us all the condiments veggies everything you can add to your bowl. What I like is that there was way more options to choose for your Mongolian bowl it was pretty messy tho a lot of food everywhere which I totally understand every time you add to your bowel it just falls out lol. They also have a sauce lane which I like would like some spicy sauce. We sis have to wait a bit since there was just one cook but was nice to see the chef cooking it up while we watched. Our waiter already had our drinks and side dishes that come with our meal ready at our table she was very nice and very attentive. Husband and I an amazing dinner tonight. This is an all you can eat place but I only had room for one serving. The food was well cooked and there were an abonance of choices. They get another 5 stars because when I asked if any of the sauces had peanuts in it, they immediately asked if I had an allergy (which I do), and they cleaned the grill for me before cooking my noodles. They'll upcharge you for every vegetable selection, and you'll end up with a bowl full of noodles with 3-4 pieces of protein, 1-2 pieces of each veggie you paid extra for, and no flavor. Can't go wrong with Mongolian bbq. Love to make my own bowls. Downside, limited to one small bowl so it's hard trying to get everything you want to eat. Would definitely recommend having a cheat sheet by the sauces to indicate how many scoops of what sauce to make a certain sauce flavor. I sometimes panic and don't either so enough or don't like the outcome of what I tried. So something to kind of go off of always helps. This was definitely a first going to a Mongolian bbq spot that you take home a second bowl if you did not make it. So that was a really big plus. Made a bowl and had it for lunch the next day. Definitely bang for my buck. The appetizers too was great and little snacks to order. I liked that a lot. The soup needed a little more flavor but was still good. I just added some more spices and soy sauce to my taste. The one free bowl of rice was a first for me, normally I've always had a big rice cooker to freely get as much rice as needed/want. They do need to staff, poor girl who was working the register was taking the orders, waiting on tables to get their drink orders and as well bringing it to them with anything else they ordered. Ammaaaziiingggg! If you're ever craving noodles I would definitely come here! Although I have a noodle craving every day, today's craving was a little different. I was craving something with a lot more flavor and a lot more veggies! I also wanted a thicker noodle. I'm glad i ended up coming here because this satisfied my craving completely. Although they still charge the same price for a veggie noodles as they do meat noodles, you get to build your own and there is no lack of vegetables that you can add. They had anything from baby corn to water chestnuts. I filled my bowl up and customized everything from the veggies to the sauces! At one point I was wondering if they were going to charge me extra because my bowl was so full LOL! In my defense It was all vegetables and those take up a lot of space! Overall, it was really delicious! The employer's were so efficient in cooking the noodles and by the time I got then I was eating Warm yummy noodles in my car. I would highly recommend coming in person for takeout and not ordering through an app because on the app you're limited to five veggies and they do charge extra after the fifth ingredient. read more

It's a decent place. The food is decent for the price. We went during dinner and it was about $17-18 for all you can eat Mongolian bbq. The flyers are a little confusing. If you're a first timer, you may want to know that you're supposed to ask for the crab or shrimp when you are giving your bowl to the people cooking. There's also a QR Code where you can find the other things on their men. As for the service, it was pretty good except for the one "cook" with the music note tattoo that was previously mentioned in a review by Oscar and Lorraine R. The "cook" had a nasty attitude and he really looks like he hates his job and hates the people that come in to the establishment. Besides the "cook", everything was pretty good. Witnessing the same gloves used for meat and vegetarian dishes was not only unsanitary but also deeply disrespectful to those who adhere to vegetarian diets. My wife and I both like Mongolian BBQ. I used to go to the location in Stockton growing up when I lived there. I have also tried the one in the Modesto mall which is not part of the GK brand can I believe I gave a one or two star review. The Manteca GK location is very good. The staff is always been friendly and the chefs do a good job. They do not get mad at you for piling your food too high or anything like that. The selection of options is pretty much the same as any other Mongolian BBQ. There really is not much of a difference from location to location or brand when it comes to the actual food. It is the service and ambiance that makes the difference. I've been to some Mongolian BBQ places where every surface seems to be greasy or the food is not fresh. At this location they do a good job of keeping things clean. Sometimes there are some noodles that people drop on the floor or some vegetables but they come out fairly regularly and clean these up. The rest of the establishment is clean as well. The food always seems fresh and not like it has been sitting out for hours. This is probably due to the fact they always seem to be fairly busy. I have rarely had to wait in a long line but I have never been the only one getting food so it is a nice balance of being busy enough to keep the food fresh but not so busy that it takes you forever to get through. The pricing is reasonable. It is not cheap but it does not strike me as being more expensive than similar establishments. Overall this is a great place to go if you like Mongolian barbecue and are in the area read more

We went several days in a row and one day there was absolutely no customer service. But I do have to say for the most part we have had a good experience. This place was had such a welcoming environment as soon as we walked in. The whole staff was incredible they are so nice and helpful. It was our first time coming to GK Mongolian BBQ and it's safe to say we will definitely be back. The food was AMAZING! And we loved how they would ask if we wanted more sauce on our noodles or even recommend certain sauces. The staff was quick with getting refills and other things before we even asked . I can eat Mongolian food literally everyday! GK Mongolian has a wonderful house sauce. They have a variety of customized bowls but I always choose, create your own. Nothing against the other yummy bowls, I just wanted something a little different. We asked the family and my mother said yes. What?!? Total surprise. She told me that she has been at this restaurant before and loves it. I absolutely love the noodles!! When I was almost done with my bowl, my son asked what it is, I can't explain besides yummy food. So I'm not sure if its 100% Covid that has made this place suck so bad lately but I know it has a big part to do with it. First the obvious, you can't scoop your own sauce even tho they make you wear gloves. Not sure what's the difference between scooping all of your own food, signing the I pad thing with your finger but you can't do your own sauces? Are the Sauce scoops gonna get us sick unless emplyees do it for us?? Its no where near as good because anyone who comes here knows you need to eyeball your scoops to get your flavors right. They don't make it how you would so it's not as flavorful. In fact my noodles were super light compared to how dark they normally are. Now let's talk sides... you can't eat here so already they don't have to do the soups. But why the change with the rice and biscuits? They used to give 2 biscuits and a box of rice. Then sometime last year they started to charge extra for extra biscuits. They were 2 for $1. Now they don't give any and they are $1.25 each!! WTF that's a crazy mark up all of a sudden. And why no rice? This time the guys who are normally there were not around and I saw people I didn't recognize. I hope that the super nice guys who normally work here are still around because at least they are friendly and happy. Tonight a grumpy (or maybe just quiet) girl and a guy who clearly wanted to just go home were here. The girl just looked at me with a blank face when I asked about the rice. She hardly talked even tho I attempted to make some jokes. The tall guy was in a rush, he did not make the food with any love just kinda put the sauces and tossed the food around the grill and boxed it. Then when I asked the girl about the rice about he shouted from behind the cook top that it's been months since they give rice... no nice explanation, just a comment that seemed like he wanted me to feel stupid for asking. I know its loud back there but I was not even looking at him or asking him. I felt really uncomfortable when I was leaving... it was just a bad experience. I just paid $20 for food that's normally around $13, they didn't have all the toppings I normally get, the sauces were not right and the sides cost so much extra for less stuff. I kinda feel taken advantage of. If this is how its gonna stay I'm not sure I want to go back. I come here a lot and have been for a long time. I'm giving a 4 star star review from my visit on Wednesday, October 19th, but not taking away from my previous review. The reason for this was the fact that the other patrons ahead of me did not wear any gloves while filling their bowls. I just found that "unsanitary." I do suggest that the friendly staff do enforce the glove rule since it is a "DIY" fill your bowls with raw meats and fowls, as well as vegetables such as bean sprouts, spinach etc. for food safety issue. Keith greeted and helped me out. Ivan came out from the kitchen and greeted me as well and was very helpful in general. Another reason why this visit was 4 star and not 5 is how one of the cooks cooks and pack 2 of my orders. Not all of my ingredients were put in my to go box. He left some of the ingredients on the hot iron slab to the bowl and from the bowl to the to go box it just seemed to only put to conveniently close the to go box. I came there because I can pack as much as I could for the price I paid. Ivan cooked the last order of noodles and it was as I expected. The thing about my visit was I carefully choose the ingredients to my family's specifications , also I took my time to assure it to be equally the same amount, unfortunately, I came home not all of the boxes were full to the brim. If I could choose my cook it will be "ideal" or train the cooks to actually get all of my food stuffed in my to go box. As usual staff was prompt to refill the specific ingredients as requested and to clean the counter which is a must for food safety reasons. I do appreciate the hardworking the staff put in. Went to get dinner with husband and made my bowl went up and noticed person before me got jelapeno"'s so I asked the guy very nicely if he could clean the grill because I have problems if mine is cooked after and I couldn't believe how mad and rude he got I knew it was an inconvenience and that is why I apologized ahead of time but I guess that wasn't enough but just want to say if you go in and see guy with music note tattoo behind ear and maybe wearing giants hat and shirt do not ask for anything because if you do he will get rude mad and unresponsive even if you apologize for inconvenience or even thank him for doing we will not be going there again but that's ok cause I'm sure he doesn't care by the way he acted with us read more

This is one of our favorite places to eat after my niece's volleyball games. Every time we go, we have so much fun making our own bowls and watching the cooks go to work. It's self serve and all you can eat so everyone gets what they want and we leave super full. Ivan is the best. He's super friendly and makes sure everyone feels good right when they walk in. I love the idea of being able to build my own bowl. The selection of fresh veggies, meat, noodles, and sauces allows anyone to find something they can enjoy. You can also make it pretty tall, like 2 to 3 times the height of the bowl :P My one complaint is so much food is spilled here. Both by the customers and cooks. The cooks always spill my food while cooking it and customers spill food and sauce everywhere while building their bowl. The staff should definitely come out and clean more frequently and come up with a way to prevent so much spillage. The cooks should also be more careful cooking the food. Maybe use a better tool than those two sticks? read more

Came for a late lunch with my mom. Food was still fresh, area of service yourself was clean, restaurant nice and clean. Service was excellent. We were treated at the door by a friendly staffer asking if we are eating in or take out. We proceeded to fill our bowls with all fresh ingredients, adding our sauces,!etc. The man that was cooking our food noticed we didn't have enough sauce and kindly asked us if we wanted to add more sauce and I was surprised by that so, I answered yes please.
