My new to me house has an old oil furnace, and I called Glendale to come out. The tec, Ron, came and out and did what he could and was very detailed in explaining how old the furnace was and how parts are hard to find if at all. With that understanding I agreed that he should only do what may not damage seals and gaskets. Knowing it was old and out dated I also scheduled a consultation to get a replacement furnace as well. The consultant came out and advised of my options. At this time the furnace was still working. About two weeks later the furnace started having delayed ignition issues and making some black smoke. I called Glendale back to see about having someone come out and see if it could be adjusted as they had already let me know the part was no longer made or available from their vendors. I scheduled a visit with the front office people who said the tec could come back out under the original cost of the service to see if it could be adjusted. We scheduled the date as my wife and I were regulated to using a small space heater as the furnace was out of commission. I arranged to work fr home that day as well. The service day comes and the tec calls to talk to me about the furnace. He then tells me there would be an additional service fee. I explain the office people who scheduled this said it would be covered under the original cost. The tec said "well they are office people and not tec people, there would be a charge". So I cancelled the appointment. While the service tec team have great experience and are knowledgeable, and the parts buyer was nice as well, and the front office and replacement consult people were great to speak with, there seems to be a lack if internal communications at the company that is off putting. Since we need a furnace we will look at getting it replaced and we are hesitant to go with Glendale for their apparent communications issues. Update- Sarah called me to clarify the situation. Glendale Heating was doing yearly maintenance service , it was an old furnace installed by a different contractor, They never pushed for " you need a new furnace". In June 2018 we noticed some strange sounds when the furnace was starting. We did not need much heat as summer was starting, we waited before the busy fall- winter season started and made an appt for September. One week before the scheduled appt the furnace quit( after 19 years). The Glendale team arrived as scheduled. They installed the new furnace. It is working well, more efficient, gas bill down. I have used Glendale Heating for some maintenance work and to install my new electric furnace and once several years ago to repair my old electric furnace which was a real lemon! They were able to come out right away for the repair work as it was in the middle of winter and very cold. They fit me in and fixed the furnace right away. I will give negative 5 stars if I could. The person I spoke to was very rude. I was helping a client to make appointment to refill the oil, the woman in the oil department (Cathy? Kelly) was impatient to my questions. When I told her I called you yesterday regarding the service and she said : well I have a lot of phone call everyday I threw away all the paper I don't know what you talking about! I know nothing about the oil refill and she treated my like I am an idiot. And at the end of the conversation she slammed the phone without saying thank you. Update: Installers caused a huge leak where water just runs into our crawlspace, soaking the wood and the foundation. Called to get it repaired and resolved -- said they would send someone out. Person that came kept telling me it was not normal. Duh! There were multiple points of entry for water due to crappy installation. He seemed unsure what to do to fix it, claiming instead he would write up a report for the company and they would eventually contact me. Not an acceptable solution given they are compromising the foundation of our home in a Significant way. We had questioned the installers at the time of installation since there was a piece that did not fit against the home and they used a bunch of foam to adhere it to the house instead of ordering and installing parts that fit properly. The installer insisted that was the way it was done and there would be no leaks. At a later date we had NW Mechanical out for a different issue. They noticed the shoddy installation and said it absolutely should not have been installed that way. They also said it would leak. They were right! Stay away from this company!! I needed a filter grill that would be installed in the ceiling. Nobody carried the part. I even order it on Amazon and it came the wrong size because of a bad description. I called Glendale Heating and they were fantastic! The part was $65.00 and they treated my like I was buying a $2500 furnace. They order the part and had it installed under a week. They sent out Greg and he was great. Very friendly and did a professional job. I'm very impressed with them and they have a customer for life. read more

My new furance was just replaced about an hour ago and I have to say I'm very pleased! And I am very pleased with the whole process, from the in home estimate to finalizing the bill. The sales gal was on time for the estimate, was very clear on the who, what, where, and when details. She also provided multi estimates. One esitmate included moving our hot h20 tank to give better access to the furnace. We went with the estimate that only included replacing the furnace. Ttwo technicians that did the work where on time ( 8:30am) and very polite and went straight to work. I did ask when they got started how long it would take and they said they would hopefully be done by noon. They were also very respective of my home. Our furance is in our back mud room/laundry room which has a back door and they went in and out of the back door to help from tracking dirt inside. They were awesome at cleaning up and making sure no mess was left behind. When it came time to settle the bill was about the only time I had an issue. I was given the invoice and and gasped because it was nearly $1200 more then what I was told. The tech asked to see my copy of the estimate and the deposit amount. So I pulled it out and we looked over it together and very quickly realized that the office gave the tech the wrong invoice. He was given the invoice that included moving the hot h20 tank. He explained that I could take in my signed estimate to the office and they would correct their error. I live less then 2 minutes from their office so I drove down there. By the time I got there the tech had already explained to the office what happened and they corrected the error and I didn't buy a penny more then what I was quoted. I bought an older house with older house quirks: a heating system that had been converted from oil to gas, an addition on-slab (without a crawlspace, some wonky structural aspects to the attic, and no heating returns), a garage converted to a utility and storage room, etc. And none of the rooms were heating well in the winter. The bedrooms were too hot, the living room would never get warm enough, and some rooms had no heat at all. The folks at Glendale have been lifesavers. My first call to them was when my furnace went out mid-winter. They sent a repair tech, Jan Carlo, the same day (in mid-winter)! Turns out it was a quick replacement of a worn out igniter and the furnace was back up and running within an hour. While Jan Carlo was here, I asked about a poorly designed air intake situation: previously, I had to get a step ladder and unscrew the non-standard sized filter grill from the ceiling every time I needed to change the air filter! Plus it looked horrible to have a filter screwed into the ceiling. It was an eyesore and a disincentive to good maintenance... but I couldn't simply replace it with a new filter grill from a catalogue because the work had originally been custom-built and the air intake ducting was adjacent to a structural beam (deep breath). While he couldn't fix it himself, Glendale sent out Randy who came up with a creative (at least to me), inexpensive, easy way to remove the eyesore (now the grill is flush with the ceiling), keep my air intake ducting in place... and with no need for an engineer or carpenter. After these two great experiences, Glendale Heating had my confidence to take on the bigger heat island / cold patch issues. I'd had another company (whom I won't name here) come out and give me estimates for a couple of these problem a few years back. That company wanted to involve structural engineers, carpenters, and construction permits! And the estimate they quoted me was beyond ridiculous. But once again, the guys at Glendale--Randy in particular--figured out how to work around the quirks of my old house (although it did take him about an hour just to figure out how to do some of it, this wasn't an easy puzzle). Randy and his team--Ryan and Woody--just left and I couldn't be happier. Everything is clean, we won't need to wear sweaters in the living room anymore, and the cost was consistent with the very reasonably priced estimate they first quoted me. Thank you Randy and Glendale Heating! These guys are solid, honest, professional, and reliable. *********************************** I should give one slight edit: between my first and last interactions with Glendale, I dealt with one of their guys--the parts sales person--who was incredibly rude and whose behavior bordered on unethical. Remember my irregular filter grill? Well, he tried to sell me one that was a standard size even though I'd spoken with him on the phone and given him the exact measurements. When I went to pick it up from their shop (expecting it to be a custom part), I noticed it was not custom built, but was factory wrapped. The box also had a few stickers on it saying "NO RETURNS ONCE OPENED," that clearly had been added by Glendale and not the factory. Not being an idiot, I raised the issue and inquired about the wrong size. This guy's reaction was beyond the pale: condescending, dismissive, angry, and volatile. I refused to take the part and it was then that he brought in Randy to discuss the custom fix with me that they eventually installed. So, why 5 stars still? Because Randy, Jan Carlo, and the rest of their team more than made up for this one bad experience. But be warned. I rate this company a minus 5 simply, because I ordered 600 + in oil and they double charged my card and it took 2 weeks to be put back into my account. After that I ordered 530.00 in cash refused to use my card they came to put in the oil and they some how put an additional 25.00 worth of oil in the tank. I will not use this company again! My furnace stopped working during some of the coldest days this year. The technician, Steve, that came out from Glendale was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable, helpful, honest and resolved the problem quickly. The reason I give this a 5 star rating is the way they handled a problem that could have been interpreted anywhere on the scale from nobody's fault to their fault. We got air in the line of our oil furnace because the tank had run too low. We are on an automatic fill program with them and they are supposed to fill it up well before it runs dry. However, we have new tenants in our house who were using the heat more than previous tenants. Since Glendale uses past oil usage to determine future fill-ups, there calculations did not match our current tenants' usage. I was worried that I would receive a hefty bill for the service call and would have little recourse to fight it. I was pleasantly surprised when Steve told me the service call was on the house because they took responsibility for the issue. I believe companies earn their stars based on what they do once a problem arises. This is a reflection of their company values. This is a trustworthy company regardless of the previous 1 star review. It's pretty normal to be charged money for a service call. And a lot of people have been customers of businesses for a long time. That doesn't mean you get free service calls. A very smooth transaction that started with our 51-year old furnace dying last September. We scheduled a visit from the Sales Consultant, Debra, who made suggestions but saw that our needs and wants were very basic. About 3 weeks later, we had a brand new Lennox furnace installed by Brian and Zeke. They did a very careful job of removing the old dead furnace, soot and all, and replacing it with the new one. They did not have my appointment on their schedule for the day. I immediately called Glendale Heating and Victoria was very kind and helped to calm my anxiety by getting a technician dispatched right away. Greg showed up right on time and quickly cleaned up the mess and diagnosed the problem. Unfortunately, this was only the second time he had seen this issue in 13 years. My furnace stopped working while the brief snow was here over Thanksgiving. It took over a week to get an appointment without being charged emergency rates. The person showed up, was here less than 15 minutes, told me the filters were clogged. Charge - $125.00. When I questioned why it was so much his response was "I don't make the rules. You got a service call". Glendale definately gets their pound of flesh from their customers. They're the only company that's worked on my furnace since 1996. Guess repeat business doesn't mean anything. The last time they were here I saw that they have stopped itemizing their bills for parts and labor. When I called the office I was told if I didn't like I could call somebody else. I'll definately never call them again. read more

Glendale came out 5 years ago and replaced the air valve in our furnace. The cost was around $385. We have two furnaces in our home, so when the other one furnace began having the same problem we kind of knew what to expect. My wife called Glendale in July of this year to come out and perform an inspection and cleaning. They came and performed the inspection and cleaning and charged us $150 plus tax, and said both furnaces were performing well. So I thought it just needed cleaning. When it got cold in early October we began using the furnaces again. One worked and one didn't. We called Glendale back out and they performed a diagnosis and charged us $99 plus tax for the service call. He said we needed a new air valve on the 2nd furnace. I told him I knew that because of what happened the first time, and that's why we called them in July, and again for this service call. The technician said the air valve replacement would cost $534 plus tax. I thought that was steep because the last one cost less than $400. He said he didn't know why. I asked him if the $99 we paid for the diagnosis, or the $149 we paid for the service call in July would be credited toward the repair of the air valve. He said he wasn't sure but didn't think it would be. He told me to call the office to see if they would be willing to credit the extra $250 back, or even some portion of it. Long story short, I called them and they offered me a $25 credit for future work, but nothing else. I even asked why the cost of the repair was so much more than last time and she mentioned employment cost. I don;t care. I'm was not willing to spend close to $800 for a repair that should have only cost me half that. I bought the valve online for $179 and had it replaced for $50 by a friend. It took him less than 30 minutes to replace it. Glendale is too pricey and deceptive, I will never call them again. Too bad because our first experience was positive. We had given them our business every year for furnace cleanings in between, but I'll take my business elsewhere. Sorry for the long post. Thumbs down to Glendale:( read more

I used them to get a regular service for my unit, and also diagnose a weird noise that the ductless unit was making. The man that came to check out the unit was not prepared with a tall enough ladder to check the outside unit, despite the fact they said it was included in the maintenance. Inside the house, he just dusted the filter and that's it. He told me that the problem with the noise was the blower wheel, I waited a bit to replace it, but called to get the part ordered. The same man came to do the replacement, and he told me this time that it wasn't the blower wheel that was causing the noise. He was rude and said he'd just leave then when I told him that's not what he had told me last time. I called Sarah, the front desk person, and all I go was an "ok... sorry about that". Stay away from this company, but specially from the middle-aged asian man (tech). He's rude and will do a meh job. read more

I would give them zero stars if I could. Furnace went out. The area around the furnace was hazy, and we smelled oil. We were very concerned about our safety. My husband called to make an appt. They told him they would be here "in a few hours". It was a Saturday, so we were prepared to pay overtime. My husband stayed home all day, waiting for the technician. They did not come. We cancelled the appt. late that evening, after having waited all day. We got a message the following Monday (10:48 am) stating that "the technician did not get the service call page" and the answering service "did not get her the message". No thanks, Glendale. No one I called would install it because I did not buy it from the company I was talking to at the time. Just as partial excuse, I am close to seventy going in soon for a knee replacement and not very stable on a latter. Close to a year later I got it all hooked up. All I wanted is a fresh clean charge in the unit. No guarantees or anything of the sort. Ready to pay what they wanted in cash. Nothing! My furnace's water tank started leaking and it needs to be repaired and I needed to have it done before winter. I contacted my home warranty company (Fidelity National Home Warranty) but they could only dispatch this furnace company. I'll never give them another chance so I searched on yelp and found another furnace service company that has a good rating. They fixed the issue on water tank, and said that the overheating problem is just a matter of gas / oxygen flow control and can adjust it FOR FREE. The device to detect the percentage of gas / oxygen is expensive and I guess Glendale Heating and Air Conditioning Company doesn't want to pay for it, so they made up some ridiculous excuse and charged me more. read more

Good communication from the home office and I really enjoyed working with Suyong. He is an excellent technician and simply a very nice family man. When someone is in your house and responsible for turning the heat back on (without the condenser hose leaking everywhere), it is wonderful to see someone who likes their job and company. He also educated us about proper service times and to treat our furnace like a car that needs regular maintenance so we will request that Suyong be our dedicated technician! I had a gas leak on Sunday. After another company failed to do the job on Thursday (the earliest they could come out) after wasting a bunch of time and trying to charge me for it, I called Glendale. I spoke with Randy who said that next week was the soonest they could make an appointment, but that he was on a job, but was hoping to finish up with time to come out my way. At around 2 he called to say he was on his way. Randy and his partner showed up and I showed them were the leak had occurred. They pulled the stub and quickly found a small hole in the line. They cut that part of the line out and quickly had it rehooked up. They didn't waste any time and the charge was very very reasonable and a third of what the other company had tried to charge for not doing anything. They were friendly and professional and really seemed to know what they were doing. I was quite impressed that they were able to come out so quickly. I would highly recommend Glendale! read more

We just had a new heating system installed in our home. From the initial contact to having their sales rep Debra to having their installers Ryan, Brian and Jason to our home for the installation they were very professional. Debra answered all of our questions and was patient with us when we asked her to research different heat systems for us. Ryan, Brian and Jason spent an entire day at our home doing the installation, they were very nice young men, very professional and worked hard all day. They were thorough in showing us how to use the new system and when they left our home they cleaned up after themselves. They left no trace that they were even at our house. I have just had my oil underground tank changed when I found out that it was leaking I asked Glendale for a recommendation of who could do the work for me. And they suggested two companies I choose Left Coast Services. And they were great. But because underground oil tanks are such a big deal Glendale showed me how to feed the Furnace with small 5 gallon cans then we received a full size temporary tank and the Glendale technician called for the oil to be delivered and throughout the process they had to make frequent visits to our home for connections and re-connections and it was always done quickly and professionally. They have been delivering oil to us since 2004 and I know I will be using them forever. The technicians know out home and leave it clean and tidy every time they do a service. I now have a brand new underground 300gallon tank and everything works perfectly. I will say this if you move to a house with oil heating remember to register the tank with PLIA it is a government insurance and the coverage is free. I registered mine in 2004 and when i reported it to the authorities they found the record within minutes. WELL DONE GLENDALE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, BOTH IN THE OFFICE AND THE FIELD. read more

Once when my husband called the company because he was having problems reinserting the filter on our air filtration system and was looking for directions. The guy who answered the phone said he would stop by on his way home to show him how to do it. Turns out the "guy" was the owner and guess what...no charge!
