Kevin is amazing. The girl at the front desk is not considerate. I had an appointment - she called and asked me to come early, so instead of having dinner first I came early. She then told me that someone else had come and so I was going to have to wait 15 minutes later than my originally scheduled time. Very irritating. Ocean Spa customer service at the front desk is awful. They are very rude. I tried to get a massage today and in error the women charge me incorrectly. I tried to explain to her where she went wrong on her calculation and she completely ignore my explanation. I even went so far to write it out and still she couldn't understand. Due to the fact she was overcharging me I requested a refund immediately and will take my business elsewhere. There are plenty of massage places in Glendale who I'm sure provide better service then Ocean Spa. read more

Came here for the first time. Should have listened for the negative reviews. The lady I got to massage me was good at what she was doing even though I got a lazy vibe off her due to the ending of the day I get it. That's a lot of hard work. I'm not here to complain about her work. It was at the end what ticked me off. I thought the massage was going to be cheaper ( I misunderstood the pricing) which is fine no biggie but I left my bugger bill of money in the car. So at the end I asked the lady to give me a money to go get my money so I could tip her. She gave me this ugly attitude and face. (Which I understand she probably thought all that hard work and she wasn't going to get tipped, but I don't believe in not tipping) She even walked me to the back and left the back door open to make sure I was getting money! Then I came back in and got the change and gave her the tip and she was still giving me a dirty look besides that when u get a tip they say thank you. She just took the money and kept talking to the lady in the front. So I said to her "your welcome". She is so rude I hope she doesn't serve like this to everybody. This massage place is clean and very affordable. The masseuse was good at what he does. Also I cannot believe how many people here are complaining about being asked to tip more. I am guessing they are leaving 15-20 percent tip thinking they are getting table service. Here are tipping tips for those that are not sure: $20 dollar service should get 7-10 dollar tip. 40 dollar service should get 15-20 dollar tip. read more

I went here today and took a friend with me to treat her after she had run the LA Marathon the day before. For the most part my experiences here have been good and have even referred several friends but today will likely be my last visit. My masseuse was male. I didn't catch his name but it likely wasn't his real name anyway. First he asked me to lay on my back and he seemed very impatient as I took a few seconds to adjust myself on the bed. He asked me rudely "are you ok?" to which I responded. "Yes, are u ok?" to which he rolled his eyes and snickered something to my friends masseuse next to us. The massage itself was ok but the whole time he was huffing and puffing every time I would move or flinch from his twisting my ankle or arms in directions they OBVIOUSLY don't go. After he massaged my feet he used a hot towel to wipe them then another to dry them off. Both towels felt like rough sandpaper and he was slapping and applying so much pressure my feet hurt and i asked him to stop, to which of course he huffed, puffed and snickered to my friends masseuse. My friend enjoyed her massage but was put off at how rude my masseuse was being to me. Afterwards we tipped her girl and since my guy was so rude, I asked the front desk lady to break my cash so that I could tip my guy. She seemed highly offended and told me that the tip was $5 minimum and she would not break my money since massaging is a hard job. This just really was the icing on the cake. I asked her if there was any signage showing that there was a "minimum" tip and she just kept repeating "$5 minimum, massage hard to do!" My friend and I were embarrassed and appalled at the service. So sad they spoiled it for all the other friendly masseuses there. I will not be coming back. read more

Avoid this place !! This is the 2nd time i visited this place - i gave them the benefit of the doubt the first time but today it was simply a horrible experience. When you call them and ask for the price -the lady who answers the phone, who is also the cashier, would always say $20 -everything that comes out of her mouth is $20 BUT when you get there the whole thing changes - they do a typical BAIT AND SWITCH -since i drove all the way there -i grudgingly paid the $30 for the combo massage. The massage started ok and in the middle of the massage the massuer said that i have to move out of the room and finish the massage outside -because that is what the Manager/Cashier said. The first time i was there the massage was completed in the room. SO this is how they treat their customers - please AVOID this place. read more

This place is AMAZING!!!! I've paid over $100 at Burke Williams, been to total woman spa and nothing beats this place! The next day I felt like a completely new person, so energetic and happy... I took my 65 year old mother who was having serious leg and foot aches and they kicked her out... I couldn't think of anything better for me to do other than take her and get a massage, so I brought her here and figured they would do a great job. Well guess what? The receptionist was rude and shoved past my mom, I ignored it and we proceeded. They told her where to lay down and the receptionist told me I would have to pay before the massage. Okay??? I thought, so I did. Then she asked me for my number and I said I did not want to give it to her because I didn't want advertisement calls from them. Quickly she said so you didn't call? I said no I am a walk in. She said sorry you have to leave she threw my $20 bill and told us to leave because it was busy tonight. Btw it was a Monday night at 9pm. There were 6 beds available and they couldn't take my mom? To hell with this place, it is the last time I am ever here. Like I said to them, you have lost my business today. I always go for a massage because My work makes my back hurt overtime. I always go to the other spa ($25 massage) but my friend recommended me to try this ocean spa and so me and my gf went. It was our first time, going inside is smaller than I expect but clean. So we started our massage by soaking our feet in a warm water-as what all foot massages does, then lay down on my back and she started the massage. I badly needed the massage so I dont mind a little pressure. She's doing ok with the massage but the thing is, I never felt relaxed while I was there. They talk, not whisper to their coworkers, due to hardwood floors I can hear all the stomps of people walking plus the talk, small place and less of the background music. Then she left while massaging me to answer the fone, lost about 3-5mins of my massage time, came back then talked again with another coworker. Arghh I feel like my mind has not rested while getting my massage. Then when she rub the hot towel (really hot! That I felt my right foot almost burnt) she did not even cool it down for a second. When I needed to turn head down, there was no cushion for my face just a thin napkin on the sides of the hole. Imagine doing massage on you while being choked because my neck goes in the hole and nothing cushioning it. Arghh it was a nightmare! I have been to many $20 foot massage and this is the worst! I feel that their massage is too rough and there is no relaxation given at all. Just a bruised body from their non gentle massage at all... My gf experience is worst than mine, she technically let the guy masseuse stop the massage because she cannot deal with the hard pressure anymore. He kneeled on her back and it hurt her really bad. And before I forget, this $20 massage will end up $30 no matter what because they will look at you in the face if you give less than $10 for tips (like indirectly demanding a tip of at least $10). I will never go back here and will be loyal to my $25 wonder spa just a few mins. Drive from here. Based from most reviews from this place, I can only base it from my experience and my gfs. I've never been so uncomfortable and so disrespected. The massages occur in a room with other individuals and there is no privacy. Additionally, the services and the fees are not clear, nor explained by the staff due to limited English. After my massage, I paid my fee and left only to be chased after by the receptionist demanding I give a tip. I explained that tips were optional based on your satisfaction with your service and that I wasn't obligated to give a tip. She left angrily and then wouldn't let my family leave without giving a tip! Rude and unprofessional!! Never again will I return to this establishment. read more

Will never go back here.. We called 8pm and told them we will be there in half an hour.. As soon as we parked our car, a lady was waiting outside and were to told to hurry up.. When we enter the place, the other lady told us to pay right away..they were all in rush which we dont understand and keep pushing us for payment... And $1 extra charge for every $20 if u pay by card.this is a NO NO.. We paid $60 and charge us addtl $3 when in fact they only swipe it once...no privacy and you can here them whispering while doing d massage.. I'd rather go to some other place... Ocean Spa is hands-down the best, most reliable "foot massage" place around, and I've been to most of the ones in Glendale-Pasadena-NELA. I've been about 10 times now, and have never had a bad massage therapist. The woman who runs the place is super-nice. There is a discount card. The atmosphere is lovely. Street traffic can sometimes be noisy but I usually fall asleep anyway. read more

It was my 3rd time to be in this establishment, the masseurs were fine except for the receptionist/ or manager that is very rude. Me & my friend asked for a lady masseur but she is insisting that we will be helped by a guy masseur & telling us that men masseurs are better than women, but we insisted that we wanted a lady masseur, she instantly returned our money & told us that there is no lady masseur available at that time, we told her that it is fine for us to wait but she was acting irritated & returned our money & told us to go, so i got the money & told my friend that this lady needs to be complained, she probably understood that, she called us both & assigned a lady masseur to us. After the massage ( i was assigned to a bed near the door while my friend was assigned to a room)but both of us experienced the rudeness of the receptionist/manager for the 2nd time around where we were both fixing our clothes & taking some money for a tip ( note the place is dark so it is difficult to see )before leaving & she was urging us to go, because another customer will take our beds, she could have waited for a few seconds or at least tell it in a very nice way, considering that we are customers too and must understand that after the massage your hair & clothes will be in disarray. Anyway, will never go to that place anymore. By the way, on my very 1st time to go to this place, the masseur was asking me to take off my clothes & i said, no, i am wearing a thin camisole which is fine, but she can't understand (no english i guess), she had to call the mean manager & after i told the mgr that i want my clothes on, they all agreed but u can tell that the mgr was pissed off. Called first around 8:30 and the lady said to come now and we ask if they can take all four of us she said come now. So we did got there at 8:45 thinking that they will still be able to do the whole hour. The owner said to pay first so we did thinking we will get what we paid for, already. So we waited. They took us in at 9:25 and ended at exactly at 10pm. We paid for a combo masssge for $30 and they shut the door exactly at 10pm which we didnt get what we paid for. We still gave $10 top to each one, we feel for the workers you know, but the owner shouldn't have taken us if they can't finish the job or give us our money back and just pay for partial. Lesson learned don't go in anymore when they take you in pass 9pm and demand your money back. So, right when it hits 9:02pm better get your refund and comeback another day. Other places once your in their facility and they close they still finish the job. So they should change their time of closing at 8:30 so they could meet the closing time. They are not training their worker properly regarding to customer services. It is breaking the trust between business and customer. Not showing the proper effort to accomodate customer's need. Itvis ubderstandable that there is always a hardship in business, but there is little or no attention to show improvement. Hopefully the company will improve all the circumstances, so no one will have the same problem. Maybe they should get reported to Best Business Bureau. read more

Decided to try this place out after work. Walked in and the lady in the front said appointment only, but Yelp advertises walk ins? Anyways, I got the 70min combination massage for $30. The price is awesome, plus I got my own privacy in a separate room. Combination massage was great and the head massage was even better. I loved the massage overall, wish I would've asked for his name. Only downfall is he had the room door open so you can hear people moving around and distracting noise. Once the massage was over I felt amazing, it was much needed. I then needed change and had to ask the lady in the front, she insisted I didn't need my change, and when I said it's a 15% tip she argued well it's a special price leave the bill. And I said no, she then gave me a rude look and continued to give me my change. No bye, thank you for going or anything. Forget the sheet at times she she just took it off completely and you are lying there naked. This was one of the best massages I've had in years. The naysayers leaving bad reviews here are hysterical to me. For only $20, you get a personal masseuse tending to you very skillfully in a mellow, dark, clean and quiet environment. Sure, you have to remain clothed, you're not in a private room, and there's no exotic aroma therapy all around you. But if that's what you want, you don't go to a place like this- You go to a fancy spa. Having said that- If you dress right (loose shorts and a loose tank top), you get all the body parts tended to that you would if you were undressed. Furthermore, there ARE curtains separating several of the beds in this communal room. The decor is pretty, there's a fountain and light music playing in the background, and overall the environment is extremely peaceful. If you're looking for a quality massage and don't need to be pampered with the exclusivity of a private spa, you truly cannot beat this experience. I couldn't believe the care and skill with which my masseuse tended to my body. I felt amazing when I left, and I don't intend to go anywhere else from now on. I also intend to get massages far more often, now that I've found a place where I only have to pay $20. Seriously, unbeatable. Love this place and highly recommend. read more

I walked in without an appt and waited only 10 mins. They offer $20 foot massage, which i heard is pretty good, but I got the one hour session in a separate room and it was amazing! I had an appointment at 7pm with a friend she was running 5 mins late and at first she tried telling me to come back an hour later when my friend was close by and then she tells me that they have so many people waiting which was a lie, there are better massages places then this place and my advice to people who come here you should find a better one to go to......for the lady who works in the front learn some customer service and don't try to rush your clientele. read more

I decided to try this place out in hopes that I can get temporary relief from my neck pain and headaches. I went on a Friday at around 4pm. There were plenty of parking spaces in the lot behind the building and I was their only customer when I got there. I will make a note of that for my next visit. I think they have 8 massage tables with curtain dividers. There are 2 tables per section. I was wearing jeans so I was offered a loaner pair of elastic waist shorts which I thought was kinda nice. They were clean. I asked for a foot massage but I read on yelp that you also get a head and body massage with it. I was a little uncomfortable when I saw that a guy was going to give my massage but I went along with it because I was clothed anyway. Communication is a barrier in this establishment so you have to be patient in trying to explain what you want and be kind about it. Hand gestures help. There's a reason why people get asian massages instead of a swedish or fancy spa massage so you should expect to deal with the language issue if you choose to go to an asian spa. Anyway, I asked my masseur to be gentle with my neck because of my issues. I'm not sure if he understood me. He applied heavy pressure all over and I was worried that he'll injure my neck or back but he didn't. I felt relief from my neck pain immediately. My back was sore for a couple of days but my neck's range of motion improved and that was really important to me. I'm considering going back every other week to see if I can get long term relief with continued massage therapy. I paid $20+tip for 1 hour. That's less than my copay to see my doctor. read more
