Aveda Salon! I've wanted my hair cut a particular way (very simple: layers and bangs) and no other salon stylist in the past has been able to cut it the way I wanted. I had an appointment with Heather, explained what I wanted and walked out with exactly with what I wanted! I'm going back again! Everyone in the salon was very friendly. Parking is easy: metered out in front or turn down any of the streets around the salon and you can easily find a free spot. They have their own lot as well. read more

GSS is fabulous! Tamera has been cutting/coloring my hair for years and years, and I love her! All the stylists and Renee the owner are so friendly and welcoming. Ani does a great job at threading -- my skin is very sensitive, so threading is way better for me than waxing. I LOVE their makeup -- again, I have very sensitive skin but Aveda's products don't make me break out or burn my skin, and they make me look way less than my age! I love going to their fund-raising events, they are like a special night out on the town! What a wonderful place! I always receive nothing less than excellent service, and the prices are very reasonable. I have been seeing Renee for color and cuts for 4 years now, and never have been unhappy with my results. I also strongly recommend Ani for facials and Tamara for massages. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the staff, in sincere honesty. By the way, I also have had Renee perform a Brazilian Wax on me, which was no more uncomfortable to those that I have had at other facilites. I recently moved to the area and was in need of some serious waxing. I was tired of having Eugene Levy's brows and a power muff. An afro on the vajay is never pretty. Ever. I coincidently found the Glendale SalonSpa from the Aveda website. Stephanie is their aesthetician and she was unbelievable. She spent forever on my insanely overgrown brows and they have honestly never looked better. Yes, that actually does mean something considering my eyebrows have always looked like odd pipe cleaners. I have pretty brows. Then we got to the dangerous territory of my Brazilian bikini wax. Let's put it this way, I had to apologize profusely before we even began because what I brought to the table was terrifying. She was so kind and professional my initial embarrassment actually went away. She made me forget about the fact that all of my lady bits were exposed to her and she didn't even know my full name. Side note: This would be a good technique for men to learn. I have to say I was also very impressed with the hard wax that she used. Having had a Brazilian wax with the traditional honey wax and strip method, I was nervous that it would be a painful experience and that there wouldn't be enough wax to do the job. It wasn't and there was. It was a thousand times less painful and I would recommend it to anyone who waxes. Waxing's never pleasant unless you're a freak, but this wasn't so bad. I have very curly hair. I struggled with it forever until I bought a flat iron. I thought it was the best thing ever...and then Tamera suggested the Brazilian Blowout. It is amazing! No more frizz, but my hair is still soft and natural. (And I've cut 30+ minutes off my routine!!!) There was so much raving about Heather so I asked about her, and she was booked with appointments so I was left with two other options; fortunately I chose Alfred! He is an amazing hairdresser. Don't let his lower rates fool you-- he is great! I always get apprehensive about new haircuts since I normally am not quite satisfied afterwards, but I think this was the first time I actually came out very satisfied with my haircut. I was looking for a salon that uses gentler, less harsh hair products, especially for coloring. Since I like Aveda products a lot anyway, I decided to pick this place - and to also ask for an appointment with Margaret after reading some reviews. I have been back twice so far, and both times I was really happy with the whole experience as well as with the results the weeks/months after. The salon is pretty unassuming: not too fancy but well-kept, clean and welcoming. I am not sure about the rest of the employees, but they seemed all friendly. Margaret did a great job from beginning to end: she listened, and came up with good suggestions and ideas based on what I told her. My hair has been in bad shape due to damage from color/highlights, and I needed some help getting it back to healthy - at the same time, I like my hair blonder than my natural color....I didn't think that both was possible. I stand corrected! I followed her advice (treatment/products at home as well as what color to do on my hair) and I have now the color I like, plus healthier hair than I can remember having in a long time. read more

Just had my first Aveda facial with Stephanie. She rocked my socks! It was SOOOO relaxing and she's the best ever!!! She also took care of my unruly brows. I even had a glass of wine before the facial which made it that much more relaxing. The salon is lovely and the whole environment was divine. Since I had crazy, greasy hair after my facial, Renee, one of the stylists there, offered to fix me up before I went back outside. I'm definitely going to get my color done by her! I just tried this salon today and I can't tell you how impressed I was with the customer service, my stylist Lina, and the products I purchased. I was immediately greeted and felt right at home, Lina listened to what I wanted, got the color spot on and I walked away with a great style. She used both scissors and a razor on my hair (which is fine). I knew she knew what she was doing because other good stylists have used the razor to get the right layering. My hair is soft and silky and I can tell it's cut so that I can style it. She walked me through what she was doing and showed me how to blow dry it and style it. I've had plenty of stylists in my day and she is one of the best. My hair looks great and I'm very happy. My other salon and stylist in Montrose was a disaster (stylist never listened, overbooked during my appt so my appts always ended up twice as long, my hair looked like a mullet, and was dry and dull, and the owner never once said hi or greeted other customers but her own). This is an Aveda salon and it shows; very well run, professional, and qualified. I highly recommend it. I'll be going back to Lina and Glendale Salon and Spa. read more

Absolutely amazing! After having several salons mess up my hair color, I had resorted to using a store-bought simple color for the past 8 months. I finally got tired of the lack of dimension in my color, so I decided to go to Renee for some chunky, reddish lowlights. I still wanted to keep my overall blonde look, and I was a bit nervous at first to let anyone touch my hair after all the frustration that I had went through in the past. Heather is AWESOME!!!! I've gotten my haircut by her twice and she seriously made my hair look amazing. I felt like I wasn't able to explain what I wanted very well but she is so good at listening and asking questions and was able to give me exactly what I wanted......and even more!!!!!!!!! The first time I went in I went home and felt like there were a few things I wanted tweaked that I didn't speak up about and she was so nice and let me come back in right away. She spent like another 45 minutes making sure I got exactly what I wanted. She is just really amazing and very skilled and just super sweet and nice. I can't even begin to describe how disappointed I was with my experience at this salon, in particular with Renee. You know when you are so excited for your hair appt and can't wait to try something different...well that was me. I had made my appt a few weeks in advance to get my hair dyed and highlighted. It was the day before I had a huge work event and there is nothing like newly done hair to make you feel good. I left a busy work day early so I wouldn't be late for my first appointment. I met my stylist Renee (who either was having a bad day or could brush up on her people skills). She gave me the most complicated consultation I have ever had with a stylist. She managed to go from caramel colors (exactly what I was looking for) to so we will dye your hair dark and give it some auburn ( I think that was the color-I know it was reddish hues) for some depth...WHAT??? I have been getting my hair colored for over 20 yrs. I have been to just about every level of stylist. In fact, I worked for beauty agencies for many years and I have NEVER ran through so many circles as I did with that consultation. When we finally seemed to have had a meeting of the minds she asks her assistant what time it is and tells me that she has no time to do my highlights because my consultation took so long and she had another client scheduled at 5:30. What the ####? My appt was at 4:30. She sat me down in the chair at 4:45 and at 5:15 told me she couldn't do what I was scheduled for. Unbelievable! I had my biggest work event scheduled for the next day and I had been waiting for this appt for a long time. It was so late in the day that it didn't even give me a lot of options for a same day appointment but I managed to find one at a salon I had gone to for a haircut. The other stylist ended up doing a great job and I walked out with more than I was expecting. I also want to point out that I was apalled that nobody in the salon called to follow-up with me about my horrible experience. I even went so far as to give them the benefit of the doubt and left them feedback on their website but here it is over a month later and still no response. I am beyond disappointed as I was so excited to try a local salon that used Aveda products. In fact, that was the main reason I picked this salon but they are a poor representation of the brand that strives to maintain good customer relations. read more

We won't be returning because of her. We will miss our stylists; they were friendly and talented. We referred friends here in the past, but will not do so in the future. When requesting highlights you expect them to be evenly colored. When going through the color selection and choosing a soft tone, brassy orange was not what I expected. But the kicker was the person who washed my hair and blow dried it. The shampoo-ist was appalling...she managed to take off half of my makeup right down to the cheeks....and then she managed a terrible job of washing the residue color......there was sticky color at the back of my neck when I get home... When the same person blow dried my hair " I repeatedly stated I DID NOT want volume but straight hair". This request was ignored and there was volume lots of volume! when I asked for her to run a straight iron over it to bring it down I was informed that a flat iron would cost an extra $15!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so the question is was the girl just terrible? or was this a straight forward scam....so a flat iron fee could be charged! Don't care to find out....shame as the owner Rene seemed like nice person! PS came home washed out the sticky color and then ran a home color to get rid of the brassy highlights. read more

I must preface this review with the fact that I have been going to the same sylist for twelve years and have never left not frustrated, but every time I cheat I have hated the color or cut and continue to go back. NO MORE. Hello Rene. First time in I was immediately taken care of by Natalie at the front desk. The atmosphere is so relaxing. Rene had a much better vision of how my hair should be then I did, I just wanted a great short haircut. So many stylists just don't have the confidence or talent to give a great short cut. Rene just said sure, let me mix the color! I loved it, my husband loved it, and I received many compliments from random people. I will never go anywhere else, Renee has completely changed my hair. I have fine, thin hair.
