I came here for the first time for a Brazilian wax. I did not plan on writing a review on such a private matter, however, considering how nervous I was I think this review could help others out seeking the same service. When I arrived I was very nervous as I was not very comfortable with a stranger paying so much attention to my private regions. Renee, the owner and waxer, was very professional and really made me feel at ease. She talked to me the entire time to distract me from my nerves. The actual waxing was not the most pleasent experience, obviously, but it really was not as bad as I thought it would be. To be honest, getting my eyebrows threaded did not feel much better than a Brazilian wax. It was really easy to make my next appointment and they were very accomodating when I decided to throw in an eyebrow wax with my appointment at the last minute. I highly recommend getting the Brazilian if you are considering it. I was a little pink the evening after but the next morning I really felt the advantages of the wax. I will definitely use the place for all of my spa needs. read more

Sometimes you just don't want to rock the bald look and that's about the only look I'm talented enough to pull off with some balding clippers. Anyhow, after several months of bad haircuts elsewhere I started growing out my hair, butchering it into the relative shape I wanted, ponied up some cash and came here. As you may have figured out by now, I'm not really the salon type - I could get used to the pampering however. A scalp, shoulder, and hand massage, and purty smelling hair products? Sign me up. Renee cut my hair, and as mentioned by a previous reviewer she's not really the chatty type. I'm quite OK with that. I rather have someone concentrate on what they're doing then ask me about my pet goldfish. She asked me a few questions, figured out what I wanted, and gave me a great cut. Heather. The only person who will cut my hair. Whenever I finally find someone who can cut my hair I move. Heather cut my hair for the two years I lived in Pasadena. I loved my hair EVERY time I left that salon. She worked with me on growing it out and always listened to any requests and offered suggestions that were always flattering. When I told her I had naturally wavy hair and I never blow it dry, she scrunched it and used the diffuser and made the most beautiful waves I've ever had. Finally I'm not leaving a salon with super straight blown out hair! (my hair is thin and not flattering when it's like that) Since moving up to the bay area in Feb. my first plan of action was to find another "Heather" at my local Aveda salon. Not possible. I hated the cut he gave me and will not be returning to that salon. Since I get my hair cut as often as I go down to LA, I will still continue to see Heather even though I live 6 hours north. She is the best. She waxes my eyebrows too and does a great job! The rest of the staff is really pleasant. I've never had any issues with this place. Yes, parking in the back can be tricky, but it's LA after all. Parking on the street is always easy, and they have no problem running out to feed your meter if it's about to run out. read more

I recently had Renee do an Up-Do for a black tie dinner event I was attending. The theme of the event was "Of the Sea". i let Renee tap into her creative genius and come up with a style that fit the theme. She curled wave-like ringlets in my hair than twisted and pinned them up into the most beautiful Up-Do I have ever seen! I go to alot of events and even at my wedding, my hair didn't look this good. All night I was told I look like a Magical Mermaid or a Greek Goddess. Everyone commented on how amazing my hair looked! Renee did an outstanding job! As she always does! Wonderful! I hadn't been to a new salon in a while, so I was apprehensive about starting completely fresh. I found this place while Googling "salons near glendale" while at work, so it was complete luck I picked this one. I went just to get a cut, and what I really liked while I scheduled my appointment and thought was very original, is the fact that they give a range of prices -- depending on the experience of the hairstylist. It's great for the financially-challenged people, who just want access to a salon that's not Supercuts, and also great for those who are willing to splurge and pay for quality, all in the same building. I paid $65 for a haircut, and I went to Heather. (I decided to splurge on this cut, because I needed one BAD due to a self-inflicted bang trim that didn't go well) I usually get pretty stoked when the salon offers me coffee, but here, Heather gave me a scalp massage AND a hand massage. I felt pretty pampered. I also felt like she is one of the few that actually hears what I have to say about my hair, both what I like and don't like. ...and then she makes the haircut to match. She was phenomenal, and I'll be committed to saving up as long as it means I can keep going back. read more

I have dark, coarse, dry hair and it is almost impossible to find a stylist who can properly cut and style it. Tamara is a breath of fresh air! She managed to give me the most beautiful layers as well as an amazing blow dry. She also has an awesome vibe/attitude so talking to her wasn't forced like it can be at other salons. The staff here is friendly and the receptionist is very knowledgeable on the types of Aveda products that would fit your hair. I will be back! read more

After I been reading about all the good review on Yelp I decide to give it a try and I decide for a hair cut specially to take off damage part of my hair. I got in felt welcome perfect! I don't remember the girls name who took care of me she told me " Oh you need this product for your damage hair, you need treatment etc" sure is what I said because of I was aware already and wanted to give it a try. So hair cut done Treatment done Hair dry done = Not sacrifice why? My hair was still damage, my hair wasn't softer nothing it was dry and my hair looks like I been putting over 1000 layers of hairspray and the price I ended pay was not worth it. So I ended up in San Gabriel one day and bump into a better salon with fast good, quality service and he made my hair looks healthier and soft. I love this salon... it's relaxing, bright, and the decor reminds something like a countryside cottage. And I gotta admit I love the Aveda tea that is offered when you step in to the salon... it's the licorice root that makes this beverage a natural, sweet delight! Most importantly -this review is for Ani - one of the youngest stylists at the salon. She's cut my hair twice and both times, my hair has looked great; lots of layers and movement, just how I wanted it. She's very patient, and cautious... and considerate of how you would like your hair. She'll make sure to get it exactly right .. your length, your style. I haven't yet tried their other services but I think I'll try the brazilian wax w/ Ani or get my hair dyed. Can't wait till my next visit! read more

I am new in Glendale I needed my brows done. After reading a few reviews on Yelp I decided to try this salon. I am happy to say that Ani did a wonderful job threading my brows. She was very gentle and she has a very pleasant manner. She shaped them nicely and the skin around my brows wasn't red afterwards which I was used to getting at the previous salon. I will definitely be back for brow maintenance and I might try getting my hair cut here too. read more

Fantastic Service! I recently moved to LA from Atlanta and was looking for a place to get my haircut. I have been to multiple Aveda salons because I have never been disappointed with the products, styling, and customer service. I can say the exact same for Glendale Salon Spa. The booking process was incredibly easy. The receptionist thoroughly explained the different pricing based on the stylists. They were also able to fit me in for a Saturday appointment a week later, which was great. The closer I got to my appointment, they were prompt at sending me reminders (via phone call/text). Also, the day of my appointment there was a cancellation, so they called and asked if I had interest in an earlier appointment (I did!). The stylist (Marisa) was awesome. She listened to exactly what I wanted in a haircut. She was also fun to talk to and gave an amazing scalp/shoulder/hand massage. That being said, I will 100% be returning. They even gave me a $20 off coupon for another service which was great! The cost of my haircut was $60 + Tip which is incredibly reasonable. Kudos to you, Glendale SalonSpa! Saw all the good reviews about Heather and gave it a try. I was a bit surprised and felt that the policy of asking for a credit card number to guarantee the appointment is not necessary. You can always confirm with clients a day before the appointment like what doctor's office do. Anyway, so far no identity theft hit. Heather did a good job when I can't tell exactly what I want the cut to look. I especially like the way she cut my bangs. The cut took about 30 mins, waiting time was about 15 mins. Love the scalp and hand massages. The salon gives free trims for the bangs if it gets longer which is nice. Will try that later to see if it's easy to get this service. Nice atmosphere. All staff seems nice and friendly. Definitely will go back for my next cut. read more

Heather is the best. I have lived in 8 cities, and been to dozens of different stylists from Jose Ebert to SuperCuts. But I have never found anyone with the intuitive sense of developing a personal style as Heather and her consistency and kindness are remarkable. She is also a beautiful young woman, so if you are an investment banker, I think a haircut would be an excellent investment. Got a nice highlight and lowlight from Kelly 2 weeks ago. She did a great job with the hair color. Love the free hand massage. Wish this aveda salon would give choices of the free service i.e. hand massage --neck and shoulder massage, etc. As for the interior and ambience of aveda salon, I've gone in the past I have to say I do not like the interior and ambience as much. Today I had my hair dyed by Renee at Glendale Salon Spa. The experience was a joy. After developing an allergy to my former hair dye, I found a product that I am not sensitive to thanks to Aveda's use of plant products rather than chemicals. When I made my appointment, I was told about the free parking in the rear, and upon arrival I was welcomed with a warm cup of herb tea on a rainy day. I was pampered with a soothing arm and hand massage as well. My hair is shiny and beautifully styled after a meticulous blow out, and I will definitely be returning! I went back to Glendale Salon Spa today and was thrilled once again with the experience. My hair is shiny and the color is perfect! Renee is so intuitive and a real expert in color. Iris is an asset to this salon as well. She washed and dried my hair and gave me helpful tips and lots of TLC. Today I had another wonderful experience at Salonspa. Renee performed her magic on my hair once again. The receptionist was very helpful and answered all of my questions with patience and ease. Cute Aveda salon- sells products up front, manis, pedis, massages and waxing in the back; cut and color on the side. Senior stylist Margaret was excellent ($50 cut). You can choose the stylist's level of experience, so your cut might range from $35-75 if you're a woman. Men get a better deal, and kids the best, of course. The scalp and arm massage was lovely, and I looked great after an hour and a half. Limited free parking available in back. read more

I had two haircuts at different places before I went here, & they were horrible. Neither of them trimmed as much as I need trimmed and didn't give me layers like I asked for. I found this place on Yelp because my hair on the bottom was randomly falling out because it was so damaged and it was becoming kind of gross. I called & they had same day appts for me. I went in & was instantly amazed by the great service & atmosphere. I received their hair dresser Kelly, & she did amazing job on my hair. She did everything I asked for & answered all my questions. She was SO nice, and I really don't like small talk at all, but I didn't mind talking to her. I will definitely be back, & happy I found my new place for getting my hair cut now. They provide other services here too, & looking forward to getting a massage here soon. :) read more

Alright fine. Yes. I waxed my back. I'm a hairy werewolf and its summer so i wanted to be smooth. Ok? Happy? Done laughing? I'll give you a minute. Glendale Salon Spa is a really nice, clean spot with a very friendly staff. My wax job was quick Renee did a great job. Sure it hurt, but it's supposed to, right? Bottom line, my back was smooth and clean at the end of the service. I've been in before for a massage too which was also really nice. Sure, they might be a little pricier than other choices, but the service and atmosphere are worth it IMO. and as an example of the type of staff on hand- I had a Starbucks gift card that accidentally slipped out of my pocket during my appointment. They called to tell me they found it and kept it for me to pick up. Could very easily have had coffee on me. Love having great businesses like this in Glendale. I always give the benefit of the doubt to choices in my city, but Glendale Salon Spa makes that decision a no-brainier. read more

When my hair looks great it is because I just stepped out of here. Allie does magic but understands my need of looking fab with out me putting all that work daily. I'd rather spend 3 hours in her chair to look fab than do something half way. She colors, she cuts and removes a layer of yuck from my face. Overall the place is chill land with good tea. I went to the Glendale salon spa for 3 years. The first two stylists that I had were great but both ended up leaving the salon. I then started seeing the owner (Renee). The highlights and cuts were generally pretty good. On my last visit she over-processed my bangs and burned off my hair. She didn't even mention it and blow dried it in a way that was covered up. When I got home and was playing with my hair, I noticed that all of the under side of my bangs was completely gone!!! I was so upset that she didn't tell me and just sent me on my way like everything was fine. I called the salon and she was not available to talk, so I left a message for her to call me. She never returned my phone call. Prior to my visit I did not have bangs but after having the front part of my hair so badly burned I had to cut bangs. I am disappointed, and have never returned. read more

Just went to get my lashes done on Friday and the following day half of the lashes on one eye have fallen out. I called to ask for help and they said they couldn't help me until Tuesday. The receptionist said to try to put some mascara on it to hide it. Not helpful at all. I've been here only twice. If I rated my first experience I would have given it a 5 star. A friend of mine told me about this salon. I don't usually spend that much on my hair, but I decided I could use some pampering. The first time I came here I got a cut and color from Heather and let me tell you I felt like royalty from the moment I walked and the feeling continued, I was so happy with my look! It was worth every penny. The second experience I would have rated a 1 or two star if not for my first experience and for Heather. It went like this: I needed to have my hair colored and cut before I had my pictures done for my new business cards. It was about two weeks out, so I called in and made an appointment. Heather schedule and my own didn't line up until the day of I was going to have my pictures done. Last time I was there I was in and out in a little over an hour so I anticipated the same. When I got there and talked to the receptionist I was informed that they had computer issues and she "thought" they had corrected it but she only had me scheduled for a haircut and no color. I reminded her of our conversation on the phone and she remembered and apologized for the computer problem and told me that they booked someone for a haircut in my color slot. She was super sweet, but I was the one to book first so shouldn't she tell the girl that was booked in my slot that she had to have someone else? I'm too nice so I took on their mistake for my own and let the receptionist talk me into doing color with another girl there (I don't remember her name). Anyways so I get my hair cut with Heather, the girl is an artist. I told her generally that I wanted a flattering cut for my face, but gave her no real direction and she NAILED IT! Again I loved it. So I moved on to the lady that did my color. She was also super sweet, but seemed kinda new. I told her what I got last time which they should have on file. For some reason only half what I got last time was on file. So I explained what I wanted and that I needed to get out of there within an hour. Long story shortened she kept mixing too little color and had to remix color 3 times. My hair turned orange. I was devastated and I honestly felt bad for the lady doing my hair. I could tell she felt awful. Heather saw what was happening and took time from her lunch break and helped bring my hair from orange to a normal color. I was at the salon for FOUR hours. I missed my pictures that day and had to reschedule. What's worse is the manager was there for like two hours of this mishap. she was the one that rung me up and when she charged me she asked me if I wanted to buy product and when I said no she had the nerve to say "well we can't guaranty our color unless you use salon products". Which was fine by me because the color wasn't what I wanted in the first place, it wasn't orange anymore but it wasn't what I wanted. I didn't expect a discount but I wasn't expecting to get pushed products after that experience. With the exception of the manager all the girls there are super sweet and friendly. That being said if I go back, I personally wouldn't use anyone but Heather. I don't mean that as an insult to any of the other stylist I just don't want to spend over $200 and not be happy. read more

Left patches of hair during my Brazilian then kept leaving during my brow wax to talk to her friends outside , then proceeded to literally wax off a random patch of my left brow, and sent me home with wax all over the side of my face, If you have an enemy who you wish harm upon, you should send them to this hell hole salon read more

I have to say I have been to a few salons but I really liked the hair style and color she did on me. The night before my last appointment the owner of this salon tried to push our appointment time to later. I told her I was not able to change the time. But when I arrived she just kept me waiting for 30 minutes and started at the time I told her I was not able to do. This made me have to cancel another appointment that day. Last time I came here, I saw Heather and she was amazing. I mentioned in my previous review that she gave me a cut & style that I loved - even though I didn't really give her much guidance about what I wanted. It was the best haircut that I have ever had. After seeing Heather, I decided that I would only see her from now on. However, she recently had a baby and has been gone since mid-2012. Because I loved the cut she gave me so much, I decided to wait for her. But, when I called to schedule an appointment in May (when she was initially scheduled to return), I found out that she extended her maternity leave until September. I was really happy for her that she gets more time with her new little one...but, selfishly, super bummed for me...haha :-) Anyway, I decided that I couldn't wait anymore. I donate my hair and it was ridiculously long (it was mid-butt) and was becoming a huge pain. [I ended up donating close to 16", and my hair is still below my shoulders - that is how long it was]. Because the reviews for Lina were all positive, I schedule an appointment with her. I am not going to lie, I was a little nervous. But, I didn't have to be. When I saw Lina, I gave her as little to go on as Heather. All I told her was that I wanted my hair slightly past my shoulders, maybe with some layers, and super low maintenance. I didn't think I would be able to say it, but Lina gave me a cut that I loved just as much as Heather's cut. Lina was also incredibly nice! My whole experience with her was an absolute pleasure. Now the dilemma sets in: Heather or Lina? They are both AWESOME!!! Honestly, you cannot go wrong with either one of them. --- Side note: I mentioned it in my original review, but wanted to repeat that they do not let you put the tip on your card. so, make sure you bring cash with you. read more
