1st time patron. Heard about their great bunch just to arrive and find out they don't do brunch anymore. Just steak and eggs. I guess I was wanting more of a brunch and was a little disappointed. I was a fish out of water choosing the steak and eggs over the Bronzino. Both were delicious . There was just so much more fish that you could imagine for a lunch portion. I was a little too much. But it was tasty ! And the mash potatoes with it were sublime. But my steak was a tad small. Probably a 4 oz cut. I never thought to ask because I usually see 6 or 8 oz so 4 was a surprise. It was cooked to how I asked though. Tender medium. Now the surprise for me was the blue cheese butter. I dislike blue cheese on principle. It's cheeses. It's blue. Two things I don't want my cheese to be. But I have to say I did taste this with my first bite to see if I would tolerate it before sending it back and I adored it (maybe I just liked it but) and didn't think about it again. It complemented the steak PERFECTLY! My poached eggs were saucy! The yolk and the steak yum A good poached egg is hard to come by. All in all my first visit was a good one. Maybe they will bring brunch back and maybe they will see me again. We shall see. read more

Just a bit off the beaten path you'll find the Stanford Grill. I had heard great things about it but never got to go until Friday, August 12, 2022. It was worth the trip and the wait! To begin, I asked if they offered a chocolate martin. The answer was YES, so I ordered one without hesitation or waiting for dinner. It was fabulous and will be added to my short list of great places to get a chocolate martini. Yes, I keep a list! My friend ordered a mojito - we were both quite happy with our drinks. I persuaded him to order the spinach dip. It came with tortilla chips, salsa and sour cream. A bit confusing, but I stuck to the dip. It was quite good. I passed on added either the salsa or sour cream. Sorry, no pics of that. We both ordered the crab cake special which came with amazing shoestring french fries, cooked to perfection. In fact, the fries were so good we both took the rest of our meals home. I tasted the crab cake, small but tasty. Atmosphere was great, a small jazz band was jamming. We went here for early Father's Day dinner. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food was decent. Only complaint I had is that the fries were over fried and it was little tough to eat. Even though it's not mentioned on their menu or website, they do have kids menu which is nice. Definitely a good place to dine at for special occasions. read more

I've eaten here several times with various people. On Saturday October 30, 2021 my date made arrangements in advance (days before) to eat dinner at 6:30pm. I arrive, call my date (thinking he was waiting inside at our table) and he tells me he was told by two ladies at the front desk that there were no seats and the only seat right then was in a corner by the bathroom. He declined politely and asked how long would we need to wait and he said he was told 40 minutes. I walked in with him in disbelief that we would not be seated with reservations. As I spoke to the two Caucasian ladies and one African American woman who was off to the side (an employee) I asked how this was possible with reservations made days prior and the lady said she apologized but we would need to wait the 40 minutes. I looked left and right and saw several open tables and booths. I pointed to the right side and asked about the empty tables near the fireplace and the lady asked me to wait while she tried to work something out. We waited maybe 5 minutes and we were seated to a waiter named Erik who greeted us and said he would be with us in a moment. I sat there with my date trying to understand how this could happen? I never encountered this before. My date felt that he was treated this way because of his race and this really caused us to debate whether we should stay or go. As it was already late, we decided to stay and see how the rest of the dinner would go. My date is not from this area of Howard County. He is a Marine vet who is African American and I am a African American woman. I called the next day and spoke to the manager on duty ( Haviva) who I really found to not be as concerned as I. Haviva gave me a reason for the delay in seating us. The manager on duty said that evening they were short staffed and Erik was working several tables by himself. I explained to her that none of the ladies at the desk mentioned it and why was it that after I asked for a reason, I was told that they apologized and would seat us now at the table in the corner (the same corner my date asked if we could be seated). I wish Haviva would have said anything about being apologetic that we were displeased and we're not explained the entire reason for the delay but she didn't. If we were called to let us know that our reservation would be delayed we could have chosen somewhere else to eat dinner. If the ladies at the front would have said to my date that there was a lack of waiters he wouldn't have been bothered about waiting or going elsewhere but he was told that there weren't any seats except near the restroom. It's a nice place but I'm big how where I spend my money and how I'm treated and my guests/friends/dates/family. I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant at this time. read more

This was my second visit to this location with my husband and this visit far exceeded our last visit. The last time we came was on a holiday, perhaps on Valentine's a year or two ago. I can't remember what occasion it was for, but it was busy. The food was just average and the restaurant was a lot busier than today. I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie and my husband ordered the Rattlesnake Pasta. The Chicken Pot Pie looked small but was very hearty. My husband and I shared our food, but my half of the pie didn't have much chicken. I liked the crust but I think I've had better pot pies elsewhere. My husband and I really enjoyed his pasta and commented how big the portion was. We could have split his entree. We ended up finishing my pot pie and taking home his pasta. We weren't going to have dessert but since we were celebrating my birthday Nass said it would be complimentary. I decided on the chocolate rising and even though we were full we ate half of it and took the other half home. It was delicious. Our server, Nass, was exceptional. She was personable and provided top-notch service by checking in to see if we needed anything periodically, clearing our table of dishes and even crumbs, and boxing our leftovers. The ambience is nice with a more formal vibe as the lights were dim which is a sign for me. We were on the other side of the room but there was a person playing the piano in the corner by the bar. The location is a bit obscure. It's by a hotel but you have to drive a bit back to access it as it's not noticeable on the street. I've had this place bookmarked for years and finally got to try it recently. The food here tastes like home. Everything is made from scratch each day and you can tell with every bite. The chicken pot pie is to die for. I've thought about that dish everyday since I've had it. My boyfriend had the chicken parm and our friends ordered the rattlesnake pasta and prime rib. The portions are huge, we each went home with leftovers. Even the appetizer we ordered, the skillet cornbread, was more than enough for the four of us. We were stuffed from dinner but once we heard this place had a dessert called "Chocolate Uprising" we suddenly made room for a few more bites. We ordered two chocolate uprisings not knowing that the dessert portions are also huge. The dessert was delicious but very rich so we weren't able to finish it. Overall this restaurant is 10/10 between ambience, service, and of course the food! Cannot wait to return. read more

My family made reservations for Stanford Grille to celebrate my Mom's birthday, and what a nice family dinner we had. We were seated right away and greeted by a waitress who collected drink orders. My dad and brother ordered a riesling and a beer respectively. I order a whiskey + ginger ale which came out tasty. We got three shareable appetizers - the ahi tuna cooked rare, the eggrolls with cheese and meat, and the fried calamari. This was my first time having rare tuna and it was really really good with the soy sauce. Of the three, my favorite was the fried calamari -- well seasoned and breaded and came with some banging marinara sauce. Everyone was really pleased with their entrees -- we had the pot pie, steak, and fish of the day. I myself ordered their famous rotisserie chicken and MAN OH MAN was it flavorful. Half a chicken cooked to perfection with two delicious sides of mashed potatos and fries -- I was a happy camper. I'd return and order the same thing. Throughout the evening, the waitstaff continued to impress. They were friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, and prompt. Props to the staff! They even brought out a free dessert for the birthday girl. I wasn't a fan of the bread pudding (one order of it was enough for the whole family to have some) but the birthday girl loved it and that's what matters. Overall, a lovely evening at Stanford Grille -- it has a great ambiance (though I wouldn't have been upset if they turned the lights up a touch) and the food was a great quality. I must be missing something because while I appreciate the opinions of others--all five stars--I can't say that I agree with them. I have visited Glenwood's twice since December 2024, most recently for lunch on 3/14/25. There is a vibe at Glenwood's that is off-putting to me. I felt the same when I visited in December. The service was good. No complaints about that. The food was just okay. I was surprised that turkey could not be substituted for the corned beef on the Reuben. I ordered it anyway, knowing that I don't care for corned beef. I will take ownership of that decision. I did not care for the string fries. I had a slice of Key Lime pie. The pie was delicious, but the whipped cream felt and tasted over-whipped - almost buttery - and I did not eat it. We each had one adult cocktail, and they were fine. I guess not every restaurant is for everyone. read more

My husband and I went here with another couple. I'll start with the drinks. I ordered the skinny margarita, waitress said they can modify the one listed on the menu. It was basically lime juice and tequila, nothing close to other skinny margaritas I've had. My husband ordered a beer and she came back saying they were out of that one. Ok try another one. She came back with the wrong one. Third try was right. Next, appetizer she suggested were the biscuits so we ordered them. She came back and said they were out of biscuits, so we ordered the eggrolls, they were not very good. For dinner we ordered the filet and added a side salad, with ranch dressing. We wanted the salad before our main meal. Well, everything came out together. Didn't want the steak to get cold so started eating that first. The salad was not a side salad but one of the entree salads with a dressing already on it that was not ranch. They did take the cost of the salad off the check. I was going to get an after dinner drink, but I didn't trust that it would turn out right. So, finally we paid our check. Ugh, they switched credit cards and we paid for our friends meal and they paid for ours. We talked to the manager and he just stood there and didn't say a word, like he was annoyed that we explained our evening at the restaurant. I've been there before and it was fine. Not this time, I will never go back to this location again. The Rockville restaurant is so much better. read more

Stanford grill is a great place to dine in Columbia! I love the ambience of a scale above the standard family dining with the lighting and the live music; appropriate for the type of restaurant. Theyhave bar seating along with small tables and booths to accommodate various party sizes. I had the marinated filet salad and it was delish! The steak was perfectly cooked. The skillet cornbread is a good starter, and I love a good French 75, so I had to give the Stanford 75 a try. It was just an "ok" drink, a bit stingy with the gin in my opinion. I gave one less star because we felt a bit rushed by our waiter. We'd been sitting literally 2 minutes and he was ready to take our order. We were told about the specials which is good and even some wine selections but I'm sure our waiter was under 21 and really didn't know what to suggest as far as wine/food pairings go. He was quick to bring the check and to-go boxes too. A little off putting, but not enough to keep me from returning again. read more

The decor was definitely a lot nicer than I was expecting from the outside. It's upscale without feeling pretentious. I had a working lunch with colleagues, and we all observed that the portions were huge for lunch! Some items are priced a little higher than I may have expected, but considering the sizes, it's like getting a dinner portion, anyhow, and the prices are inline with what I would expect for dinner entrees. My chicken pot pie was excellent: flaky, buttery crust, well filled with chicken and vegetables. The service was rather lackluster; Half the table ordered iced tea and never received a refill. The server made one halfhearted attempt to stop by when the food hit the table, and she was otherwise very absent. The inattentiveness and generally poor attitude is really what cost the fifth star in my review. read more

I felt compelled to write this review because I had the perfect dining experience at Glenwood's. My dear friend and I live in different states but we try to get together at least once a year. This year we choose Columbia Maryland and Glenwood's. The ambiance was warm, inviting and with accents of elegance with tablecloths, cloth napkins and tiny lamps at each table. Our server, Tina, was absolutely lovely. Tina was at our table with seconds of us being seated and took our drink orders. She was friendly, polite and attentive without being intrusive. We had a leisurely meal and candid conversation with no feelings of being hurried. My friend ordered the loaded baked potato soup which she devoured licking her bowl and the chicken pot pie that was a generous portion for her although she made a valiant effort. I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip which was unparalleled to all I have ever had before and the wild mushroom raviolis with the most intoxicating aroma. The first taste was and magical and each one thereafter was transcendent. The chef deserves high praise as we both commented how delicious the food was. We finished our lunch with a slice of the decadent white chocolate raspberry cheesecake and that was heaven on earth. Glenwood's is the fine dining experience worth the price. read more

They were out of green tea but their Tazo organic tea was okay. Stanford Grill in Columbia is an absolute must try if you're in the area, or if you're looking for a fantastic meal and service. The service here is impeccable. The waiting staff was very friendly, professional and extremely quick. It was clear that everyone you interacted with was ready and willing to assist with making your experience as great as possible. The food was excellent and cooked perfectly to order. Fair warning, the portion sizes are massive and the desserts that we ordered could have easily been shared! The cleanliness of the restaurant was immaculate and you could tell they take pride in that. Lastly, we arrived in between the lunch / dinner hour where the lights were dimmed which enhanced our experience. The deep tones of the decor gave a high-class feel to the experience. I highly recommend this restaurant for a date night or an outing with a group of friends. The menu is slightly pricey, however I assure you the portions justify the price! Enjoy! P.S. We came here for a birthday dinner. It was about 8 of us, so we were spilt between two tables due to COVID protocols. We ordered the apps of spinach dip, calamari, skillet cornbread, and fiesta egg rolls. I can't speak for the fiesta egg rolls but the other apps were great. The spinach dip was amazing, some of the best I've ever had. I would go back just to order the spinach dip. I had the Shrimp Caesar Salad, not much to "write home about" since it was just a salad. I will say the shrimp was very spicy which I wasn't expecting and wish I'd known because I'm not a fan of spice. I'll assume the shrimp were heavily rubbed with their special blend seasoning. Others in our group ordered the following entrees: rotisserie chicken, salmon, steak, and rattlesnake pasta. I polled our party and most of them said they would give 4/5 for their experience. Everything here is made to order. Very fresh and can be customized to accommodate food allergies, etc. The portions are huge. Even the side order portions are large. Everyone went home with leftovers. They don't get a 5/5 due to the snail paced service-we were there midday on a Saturday and it wasn't packed. There is so much to say I don't even know where to start. But what I will say is we are DONE with Stanford Grill. The quality continues to decline as the prices remain the same. We were frequenting this location (delivery or pick up) for the past few months during COVID. The last time (November) I discreetly DMed the company to discuss the decline in the quality of the ribs. I was called to rectify the situation, but couldn't answer the call at the moment. I called back a couple of hours later and had a lengthy conversation with Patrick. Patrick apologized profusely and offered to send me a gift card, which I have yet to receive. He also said he passed on my complaints to the head chef. Feeling somewhat comforted by his reassurance, despite not yet receiving the promised gift card, we ordered again. This time, it was for our anniversary. Big mistake. We have two small children and wanted a nice meal for our anniversary since we couldn't go out to eat. When the food arrived we opened it and realized that there was no coleslaw for my tiny rack of ribs, which were the size of a ketchup packet. The ribs were good in flavor, but had only 9 bones instead of the usual 13. On top of the already lackluster danish rib dinner, the chicken sandwich was RAW. If I don't die from salmonella, I won't spend my remaining days coming back here. read more

As a single female it's hard enough to go to dinner alone but to be treated as if a last minute thought while being served is also difficult. The Stanford Grill is a really nice restaurant. It has upscale touches without being overly upscale...if that makes any sense. I happened to come here for dinner with a group of ladies. I ordered the rattlesnake pasta and being that I love spicy food, I asked for it to be spicy. It had a good amount of heat to it but wasn't too bad. The one thing that I didn't like about the pasta was that some of the chicken had skin on it. I'm not sure why they do this, but please don't. If the skin was crispy, that would be fine but it wasn't and it just wasn't a good texture to be in my pasta. Otherwise, the dish was delicious. I ended up ordering the bread pudding to go and let me tell you...worth every penny. Every. Penny. Not to mention, it was a HUGE portion that could easily be shared with two other people. The service at The Stanford Grill is top notch. I love when the waiter/waitress packages your leftovers for you. I tend to be a little clumsy with this at times so if my waiter wants to have at it, go ahead. Our waiter also did the perfect amount of check ins...didn't allow us to sit with empty glasses for too long but also wasn't overbearing. Overall, great experience and I look forward to returning. The servers work as a team and met all of our needs. The food was exceptional and filling. OMG! We came here for NYE dinner with family and friends, so about 15 of us. Wonderful wait staff, very attentive and friendly. About 12 of the 15 of us ordered the prime rib, lol! It was amazing!
