Had dinner with sister and a few friends. The service was amazing. Brandy was a great server. Very attentive and knowledgeable about all things Stanford grill. The food was good. I had the seared scallops with mashed potatoes (sorry no photos) I was so hungry and it looked good. This was an off menu item so make sure your server shares the specials. The scallops actually came with a different side but it was something I did not eat so I was able to make a substitution. For my cocktail I had an old fashion. It was made pretty well. Loved my food and experience at this restaurant. Service was A+. They work in a group serving environment, so anyone passing by can help you! My table ordered several dishes to share and all of the dishes were exceptional. My favorite was the bacon Mac and cheese on the side of the New York strip and the rattlesnake pasta. Stanford Grill has a scratch kitchen so you can order safely even if you have dietary restrictions or allergies. We had the amazing cornbread appetizer, which I have gotten each time I come here. This time, my friend and I split the salmon and the grilled vegetables. it's always a pleasure to go to Stanford Grill. The wine list is excellent. The staff is super accommodating. The atmosphere is just perfect and the outdoor space is also nice. Definitely one of my favorite places when I am in Columbia! read more

Approximately 3 years ago we had dinner reservations there. We had to wait about 1 hour to be seated. The food was good but not stellar and certainly not good enough to wait an hour for a table with reservations. Fast forward to last weekend, we decided to try again. We were hoping they had resolved their reservation issues. We arrived with a reservation, waited 20 minutes before approaching the hostess to inquire about ETA for a table. She informed us that there were several people in front of us and could not say how much longer. We left restaurant. I don't believe that the management of the restaurant understand the concept of a reservation. read more

I have been coming here for years and Stanford Grill never disappoints! We visited the restaurant for indoor dining. We had a reservation and we're seated on time. We were also seated so that we were distanced from other patrons. Our server wore his mask the entire time. He was extremely friendly and took great care of us. The food was incredible, as always. This is the perfect place for a (more upscale than Pub Dog) date night! Two words: PRIME RIB. It's absolutely to die for. It always comes out seasoned and cooked perfectly and the portion is HUGE. Some of my other favorite items are their calamari and pork ribs. Compared to other Stanford Grill/Copper Canyon locations, I prefer this spot for their service and quality of food. I'm a regular and normally it would have been a 4 or 5 star but not today. My mother order a coffee before lunch didn't come. I wanted to order the famous French Dip but they didn't have it so I ordered the prim rib, it was a little fatty, my guess ordered the fish tacos it was way too spicy. We have eaten at this place a handful of times, and three out of four times it was excellent. Unfortunately, our last visit; the service was horrific. Our waitress could not have cared less, in fact she seemed downright pissed off when we first sat down. Not one item was cleared off our table the entire time we were there, from appetizers to the end of dinner, we had plates stacked up on the table. It was my sons birthday, I mentioned it to the host staff, and they said they would let our waitress know, but nothing happened. Now, I will point this out, the last three times we ate there, we sat at the high tables in the bar area, our last visit was in the dining room. I'm done with Stanford Grill, unfortunately delegated to my banned list. Definitely an 'A' for service and atmosphere, however other than anything chicken, this place is a collasal rip off. This week we dined outside on the porch, I ordered the outrageously overpriced 16oz prime rib at $34.50. It came with one side, I chose green beans which were undercooked. I'm calling them out on the prime rib and Stanford Grill please challenge me on my assessment, but its the pre-cut food service quality prime rib, not the kind you cook at site as part of a fresh cut. I can do better elsewhere, please try harder on your food quality. read more

Located right next to the Courtyard, Stanford is a higher end restaurant with lots of wood finishings and proper linen napkins with heavy metal flatware. It's definitely safe for a date night or a business meeting. It's possible to go overboard with the entrees but there are many reasonable options. I had the beet wedge salad to start. If you've had a wedge salad, it's the same thing except that there are a couple of pieces of beets on the side. Tasty and a huge wedge of iceberg, topped with bleu cheese and the other goodies. Very nice. For main course, I opted for the rotisserie chicken. They seem to have quite a focus on these chickens with many chicken entrees on the menu. My chicken was juicy and moist, very flavorful and tasty. The green beans were quite firm and the mashed potatoes were okay. Several bottled and draft beers on tap, including local options. So, if you've EVER dined at Copper Canyon then you have dined at Stanford Grill! LITERALLY!!!! This by no means is a bad thing as my 4 stars would indicate! For those that have never eaten at either, this is what Stanford Grill aka "Copper Canyon" is. A place that has a high end steakhouse feel, from the Baby Grand piano to the Bass player to the rich wood accents, plush seating, huge fireplace and extremely attentive service. The food is exceptional but unlike high end restaurants, their meals include side dishes and are all under $40 bucks! I had the all meat Crabcake/ Filet Mignon combo with asparagus and spinach. This meal is not on the menu but thanks to my date who has eaten at Stanford Grill before, she allowed me follow her lead! Everything was prepared perfectly! I have never had a bad meal at Copper Canyon and Stanford Grill lived up to Copper Canyon's standard! [My two complaints] 1.) I understand that making a reservation to dine in a restaurant doesn't always mean you're going to walk into a restaurant and instantly be seated, but it was kind of disheartening for me and my lady to be skipped over on the list by a couple who was running close to 20 minutes late for their reservation. Especially when we actually got there 15 minutes early, and checked in with the staff. Then to be told this by the hostesses, and then have to wait an addition 5 minutes for a table just didn't sit well with me. 2.) Also this was my first visit to the restaurant, and we chose this location to celebrate a special occasion. There is literally 1 chair at the front of this restaurant for people waiting. The rest of what would be space was taken up by the live band. So either you squeeze in where you can in front of the host stand, or you have to wait outside of the entrance, where everyone is going to open doors in your face as they enter to check in, and again no chairs. It literally seems like the best thing you could do to minimize the wait time, and your time spent standing is to come at least 10 minutes late to your reservation. [The Service] The service in the restaurant is a team effort, though you do have a primary server. Which is what was explained to us by our waitress Megan. She was very thorough getting us familiar with the restaurant, and the way it works. She was seemed to really know her stuff, and was very helpful with suggestions. The one time she wasn't around, and we got the attention of another waiter he was also very knowledgable, and very professional. He didn't rush us, and he also offered suggestions. The service here was 5 star. [The Food] I can't say that I was blown away by the Spinach Artichoke Dip, but it was good. It's one of the appetizers that we are accustomed to getting when we see it on the menu, and honestly in a blind taste test I couldn't tell the difference from theirs or any of the many places i've ordered it from. The Iron skillet Cornbread was good, though I wouldn't get it just as a appetizer. However it went perfectly with my meal when it came out. Though next time i'll have it come out with my dinner, and not with the appetizers. The Lobster Mac & Cheese was on point. It was prepared very well, not to thick, and not to creamy. The mac & Cheese itself was perfect, the lobster at that point just seemed like a bonus. We really liked this dish. For an entree I had Crab encrusted cod, with brussel sprouts, and my lady had a pork porterhouse. Both of these dishes were awesome. [Overall] This restaurant seems to be very well ran. There is a clear vision in place that seems to have made costumer service the cornerstone. Once we were sat, everything ran very smooth, and we were very pleased with the rest of our evening. My lady has not stopped talking about this place since we visited, and I get to relish in the fact that I was the one who set the whole thing in motion. The Stanford is a hidden gem in Columbia Md live jazz in the evening make for a delightful night. The staff from the door to the table were simply amazing. NY strip cooked to perfection Bacon mac n chesse fresh and hot out of the oven My crabcake was good not a lot of filler I didn't care for the shoestring fries they were cold and soft. This place used to require that men wear a jacket or sports xoat for dinner service. They do not anymore but the rest of the ambiance that goes along with restaurant's that have a dress code remains. The waiters work in teams so you never have to swivel or wonder when your water will be refilled There special is their roasted chicken which is so juicy and flavorful. I booked lunch here today (Sunday) as an early family Valentine's Day celebration meal - making it me and my husbands second visit (and my almost 5 year old daughters first). We left asking each other why on earth we don't come more often!? Every staff member we came in contact with was extremely professional, the service was excellent, and our food was absolutely amazing. The ambience is perfect for a date or special occasion, and overall I'm completely satisfied with our experience. Went there for a family dinner because our daughter wanted Prime Rib for her Christmas vacation treat. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it turned out to be. Between the five of us we had fried calamari, prime rib, Dutch Cut pork ribs, sirloin, and the sea bass. The only disappointing dish was the sea bass, which at $35, was an expensive disappointment, and the mac and cheese side. We also ordered bread pudding and peppermint cheesecake for dessert--the desserts were massive--so big we couldn't finish them. I have visited SG many times in the past and today I experienced the quality food, drinks, and customer service I have experienced in the past that has brought me back. Today, I ordered the Apothic Red Blend, Tortilla soup and the Bravo rotisserie chicken salad. All were delicious and did not disappoint. Additionally, I met a friend and we caught up for a couple of hours over great food and drinks with constant service interruptions. The staff was great as always and understanding of what was needed with little interruptions. The one thing about the SG environment is that the lighting is minimal so if you are like me (reliant on glasses or magnification) you may have to turn in your mobile phone to assist with seeing the menu. We enjoyed a business dinner In this busy American food locale! Luckily, someone had thought ahead and procured us reservations. The best part was truly the service, both enthusiastic and knowledgable. Customizations were gracefully recorded and everything for our party of five was exactly as ordered. For those that know one of my food weaknesses, I can confidently report that the Mac and Cheese with bacon was creamy and cheesy goodness. First visit: December Dinner - The food wasn't warm, but the portions were decent. It wasn't bad enough not to give it another shot. LAST visit: Sunday Brunch - There wasn't that long of a wait for our food, so that was a plus. However, ONCE AGAIN, the food wasn't piping hot and there was more peppers and onions in my breakfast burrito than meat, potatoes and salsa. Very disappointing. read more

Made reservations Thursday night over the phone for outdoor dining. Young lady who answered was distracted, playing around with her colleague. So after taking all of my info, she needed to re-Input It again into her computer. Tonight we arrived 2 minutes before our reservation at 5pm to have them say nothing was available. They had my reservation but nothing outdoors. Not really apologetic. They were just matter of fact about it. So we left. Very disappointed. They didn't try to smooth it over--we were just one less problem once we left. We love this restaurant and it had been a few years. Not sure if we want to go back with covid. So I've never heard of this place before. Never known it existed in thee good old Columbia. First of I thought it was fairly odd to find. It is on Stanford Rd but a winding road. I came in the restaurant and wowza. It's absolutely beautiful inside! They had a jazz duo playing right at the front. The dining area is really nice, they have comfy booths and a lovely fireplace. Definitely romantical, if you're there for that. Guys got that...lol So for an appetizer I had the skillet cornbread with the jalapenos. I thought it was pretty good and had a nice kick too. Initially my eyes zoomed in on that rattlesnake pasta, but I was talked out of it and got the special instead. Baked chicken, red skin mashed potatoes and spinach. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a hefty portion and the chicken was seasoned just right. For dessert, bread pudding #nomnomnom!!! Flippin awesome! In regards to service, it was awesome, everyone was so attentive. Kind of fancy for columbia... split the coconut shrimp and smoked salmon to start off. The salmon plus it's dipping sauce is prob the best I've had in terms of that. Shrimp was nothing special. For my main course I got the filet & crabcake special of the day. Crabcake was oh so delicious! Can't say the same about my steak though... one, it wasn't super tender. Two, it was cooked medium rather than medium-rare. and three, the sauce wasn't very tasty. I was able to get full off the spinach and mashed potatoes though (huge portion). My friend got the veggie burger and requested I add her review of it... it tasted really good but was very sloppy and hard to eat. As for the fries, they may look thin, but there are so many. Wife got the pot pie and a side of fries. We both got a peartini (well, i got one first, but it was sooo tasty the wife couldn't resist). I got the bread pudding for dessert. The portions were HUGE. I mean this meal feed me two more times!! The flavors were ONNN POOOINT. I will note that parts of my chicken were kinda dry, but since they serve the au jus (juices from cooking the chicken) on the side, you can dip the chicken in that little cup of deliciousness just like lobster in BUTTA! The bread pudding - dear god - was almost as big as my head and so so so yummy! That came with a creamy grand mariner whip cream that I got extra of to take home! The service was incredible.
