My family and I attended Stanford grill for my sister in law high school graduation. The restaurant was accommodating to our large party of 6, and catered to our dietary preferences. I decided to get the crab cake sandwich and I'm glad I did. Let's start with the shoestring fries. These were amazing and addicting. Well salted and crispy I couldn't stop eating them to the point that I almost got full before trying the sandwich itself. I decided to ask for avocado and spinach instead of lettuce and tomato and my server was accommodating to my request. I also asked for a side of the honey sesame vinaigrette and It took the sandwich to a whole nother level. The crab cake itself did not have a lot of filling, the bun was soft and the avocado added a nice creaminess to the Sando. Apparently the Stanford Grill has now changed its name to Glenwood's. Still has the Stanford Grill sign out front. Still looks like the same old restaurant I remember from the last time I came in. It's tucked away behind the Extended Stay Hotel. The parking lot has plenty of spaces. Bar was packed. They must have a nice happy hour still. The restaurant Is very dimly lit with a romantic feel to it. On this night they had a live band playing jazz music. Very entertaining. The food is still great like the old Stanford. I ordered some Brussel sprouts as an appetizer. They were crispy on the outside with a sweet glaze and topped with Bacon. Yum. My main course was the rotisserie chicken. The amount Of food was massive. Way more than I could finish so I took half home. The price wasn't outrageous either. A nice dining experience and still as good as the Stanford Gill. I came here yesterday to celebrate my sister's graduation and I must say, my family definitely enjoyed the experience! I have been here before but when it was named as Stanford Grille, and I was curious to see how Glenwoods would be. Upon walking in, we were greeted with a warm smile and welcome from the incredible staff. They were able to help us to our seat. We were immediately greeted by our amazing host who was super warm and inviting. Due to our party being kinda large, we needed some time to look at the menu and figure out what we wanted. We finally decided and what I appreciate the most is them allowing us to have some substitutions. Our food came within a few minutes, fresh and hot! I ordered the rattlesnake pasta which was amazing! It was missing a little bit of pepper but it was a personal preference. My family enjoyed their food and had no complaints! Visited Stanford Grill last night to celebrate my husband's birthday! The food and service was just as good as last time! We started off with the Calamari, which came out so fast! Very crunchy and loved the sauce. I got the Chicken Pot Pie again, delish. My husband tried the Chicken Parmesan this time and he cleaned his plate, he loved it. Dining is just not about the food. It should be an experience. At the Glenwood's the food is delicious. The atmosphere is warm, intimate and lively. Every Monday evening the Bruce Swaim Jazz trio plays. If you know music you will know that this is a wonderful treat. We came to hear the band as my sister, a musician follows this trio. I was pleasantly surprised by the excellence of the food and service. One of the best servers "Jeff" was gracious and accommodating. The calamari dipping sauce was spicy and complemented the dish. The oysters were fresh and good. The marinated steak salad was excellent. The steak was moist and stood out. The cheeseburger was ordered by three of our foursome and we all loved it. Don't miss out. We're in the process of relocating to Maryland and stopped into Glenwood for lunch--what a great find! The ahi tuna salad was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented, with just the right mix of flavors and textures. The corned beef Reuben sandwich was hearty and delicious, paired perfectly with crispy, golden fries. We capped off our meal with the pineapple upside-down cake and a scoop of vanilla ice cream--absolutely indulgent and worth every bite. We were visiting our son who flew into town for a weeklong visit in their corporate office nearby. I chose this restaurant based on Yelp reviews. We didn't have an issue getting a reservation here on a Wednesday night at 6:30. We started with an appetizer of Fiesta Eggrolls. Personally I just found it to be 'ok' I would have done without the spinach. For my entree I focused on the house specialty section and chose the rib platter. My wife and son chose daily specials of striped bass and steak frites. The steak frites was not what we expected and pieces were chewy. While the ribs were good, I could tell they were prepared in the oven and not slow smoked outside. My wife always enjoy striped bass. Our eyes betrayed our stomachs as we weren't expecting the deserts to be so large. None of us finished desert which we took home in parting boxes. Service was speedy and friendly. Environment is noisy but not out of control. To me the experience didn't meet the hype and price. read more

Having been to the Stanford Grill in Rockville multiple times, I had high expectations of Glenwood's in Columbia. Blueridge restaurants are well known for excellent cuisine, staff, and ambiance--and boy was that all present here. Glenwood's blew my expectations out of the water. The food was great: I'm a big fan of the club salad, so I absolutely had that again. My fiancé had the prime rib sandwich which was delectable, so much so that he would not stop talking about how great it was! Alex was our server and he was incredibly nice and tended well to us. To top it all off, the live jazz music was incredible and perfect for my date, since my fiancé loves jazz music. Overall, we had a great time and will absolutely be back. read more

Stanford Grill is owned by the same group as Cooper Canyon and actually have identical menus. Their entrees have extremely healthy portions. I had their chicken pot pie, but also tried their short rib, BBQ Ribs, and Chicken Parm. Every dish was solid. The sides are a little underwhelming, but the star of the meals were great! Their desserts are also huge! I was a little shocked to see each item being $13-15, but they're enough to feed 3, maybe even four, people! I ate here for dinner the other night and had a great experience. Walking in, there was a live bassist and saxophone player having a great duet. The restaurant is very nice, like an old fashioned steak house, but with a smaller menu selection. My one critique of the interior was that it is quite dim inside. Our waiter brought food very quickly and was attentive. I got the spring roll appetizers which tasted pretty good, and the crab cake dinner which was also good. We made reservations at Glenwoods (Columbia) last Saturday evening at 6:30. When we arrived (on time), we were told it would be at least 20 minutes or more to be seated. And that this happens from time to time. Not wanting to wait that long, we left, very disappointed. What's the point of taking the trouble to make a reservation? This place has a special place in my heart. It's like a hidden treasure. This time my friends and I were seated outside. We were catching up and outside was perfect. There was only 1 other party sitting outside and I think we were all exhaling; taking it all in! Our server was polite & attentive. He even accommodated one of my friends as her drink was first too strong and then just didn't taste right. Same good food, but this time I tried the rattlesnake pasta. I absolutely love the Stanford Grill! As soon as I walk in I am greeted with pleasantries. The host are absolutely phenomenal. The restaurant has a beautiful ambiance to it with such a relaxing feel. The staff are extremely attentive to my needs/wants. The food is always fresh and well seasoned. My hubby and I eat here once or twice a week. My favorite is their Cobb chicken salad w/cornbread sprinkled in w/Chipotle ranch dressing. I recently tried their chicken pot pie which bought me back to my childhood it was so delicious. My husband loves their wood-fired rotisserie chicken w/mashed potatoes and green beans. This is one of the best restaurants in the Owings Mills/Reisterstown area. Even the menu looks very similar (though we may vey well be wrong). Good quality American cuisine, We went with friends and all four of our mains were great. The menu is a bit small but that seems to be a new thing with higher-end restaurants. And it's fine. The waitstaff was great. Very attentive but no overly so. Literally our only complaint is the noise level. High ceilings, Uncovered floors. Big busy crowds. And some nice live music from the front. While it was all great, it was difficult to talk to each other. But this is definitely NOT deal breaker. Highly advise getting reservations as, like its predecessor, it's busy. We came here to celebrate a birthday for my best friend's mom. We had a group of about 15 or so people. I'll break this review down into sections as there is a lot to cover. The Atmosphere: This restaurant has a very upscale feel but it is also very sophisticated. The staff ensure everything is pristine and change the tablecloths promptly after each visit. I witnessed this first hand as I was enjoying my meal. We really appreciated the decor and the Ambiance of the location. The downside is it can be too loud for some with just the noise of everything going on around you. You sometimes have to speak loudly as to be understood by those next to you or when placing your order. Otherwise, your voice gets drowned out by the hustle and bustle of the combination of different noises from other patrons to the staff moving about bringing people their food. Are seating arrangement was near a corner and it was just enough to accommodate everyone comfortably. The Service: Miss Judy our server was excellent! She even had a sense of humor about one of our guests with us also being named Judy. She was friendly, attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable about all of the dishes. She even gave us her personal recommendations based on our choices and when we asked for feedback on what she thought of certain dishes. This is extremely helpful when it is your first time at a high-end restaurant and you want to ensure you are getting a great dish that you will love. Judy elevated our experience from just another outing to something truly memorable and fitting for the occasion. We also like that she gave us her personal favorites in each of the categories or offered feedback on choices that we had made. She ensured that everyone was checked on throughout our visit even while being one of the people that was helping with the changing of the tablecloths. One thing that I found extremely impressive is that the staff is never caught just standing around is, they are always on the Move either helping with the daily tasks of taking orders, grabbing food to bring to tables, even down to quickly sweeping the floor which I caught one of the managers wearing a jacket doing while also helping out in different areas. They operate very efficiently and have a quick turnaround time for the changing of the tables to ensure guests are waiting too long to be seated. Our experience with the service of the staff was very memorable most notably because of Judy's assistance with such a large table but that did not stop her from providing exceptional service. This makes us feel great about choosing this establishment to host people and events that are important to us. The Food: The food here was delightful exclamation point everything arrived hot and fresh and tasted of exceptional quality. Everyone got different dishes from calamari, cornbread, chili, salmon, ribs made with Coca-Cola which were beef ribs and of massive size. Each person really enjoyed what they ordered and I believe that was because Judy provided feedback for each of our choices that helped us to make better informed decisions. I also ended up getting a Moscow Mule and someone got a Peartini. Every dish was plated well and was delivered promptly. The quality of ingredients used along with the way it was prepared was noticeable and we felt like we were getting our money's worth in every area. We ended the night with dessert and most got the bread pudding which was massive and heavy. It did have raisins so just a side note. Then we tried something called the chocolate uprising which was a special cake that was not too sweet but still equally delicious as a treat. Some even ordered soup to go for later as we waited for it to change from the chili to chicken noodle. Parking: The parking here was easy to navigate but they recently updated their name so be sure to double check GPS/Google. Overall, 5 out of 5 for the level of service, food, and operational efficiency. Disappointing. The ambiance was nice but somewhat downhill from there. Made a reservation for 8:15 pm (on a Friday to be fair) got seated about 30 minutes later. Ordered immediately but simple artichoke appetizer didn't show up for another 30 minutes. In the meantime had to use the mens room. Waste basket overflowing to the point where used paper all over the floor. Food finally shows at 9:30. Had a couple of bites, got a "To Go" box and left. Supposed to be "Date Night", not "Wait Night". Honestly, if I had known it was a "Copper Canyon" franchise I would have gone elsewhere. Never have good service. It's strange to me this location is changing its name. I get it - properties are merged and bought all the time. But this is an established name and brand in this area. The rotisserie chicken is my go-to and has never failed. Swapping the asparagus for the spinach is a better way to get some greens but all their sides are amazing. Service is consistently top-notch: helpful, friendly and attentive. They offer a covered outdoor seating area which provides a brighter mood than indoors. Hello! The location has good parking. Coming into the establishment, it has a great ambiance. The lighting is dim, there is music in the background, fireplace, and a bar side with a piano. I ordered the char grilled chicken and a salad. They were both delicious . Here's the yummy thing, the salad had cornbread croutons! Soooo good. I'm not supposed to have bread...however come on now! They give you a large piece of cornbread also ( I didn't eat it), it was so good, though. Our waitress Katie was great as well. The noise level was low, and we could hear each other. One of the best restaurants in the Columbia area! Visited Stanford Grill 4:30pm on Sunday and the place was booked. Glad we made a reservation. Wife and I ordered a burger and prime rib and both tasted GREAT. I especially enjoyed the cheeseburger as their patty was cooked perfectly. Super juicy and flavorful. When a place cooks their burger right, you know they got their basics down. Prime rib was delicious as well - wife said it's her second favorite prime rib (following Lawry's). Price was much cheaper than expected. We ordered three dishes (one crab cake to go) and a glass of wine and the bill came out to $100. Loved the ambiance as well; there were multiple people celebrating their birthdays. What surprised me so much was how fast the food came out from the moment we ordered. Decided to try something new for my 40th birthday. My mother has been raving about Stanford Grill for some time. We started off with the cornbread. It's very good. The jalapeños kind of sneak up on you but it has a nice flavor. Our server recommended a drink with Elder flower that was light and enjoyable. Our second drink was the peartini. It was very alcohol forward. For my entree I ordered the Rattlesnake pasta with blackened salmon. I noticed my pasta had remnants of chicken in it. I didn't really enjoy the flavor of the chicken. My children ordered rotisserie chicken and chicken tenders, which were both received well. Their homemade sauces should not be skipped. Truly a nice way to celebrate a birthday. read more

Know what you're looking for before going. In my case, I wanted to go to the Texas Roadhouse. But that was packed, in part because my 'family' decided to d*ck around in the bathroom and delay us leaving on time. But I digress... I wasn't going to wait at Texas Roadhouse like heifers in a cattle car, so I searched for something else local. Stanford came up, and close. Went there. Busy, mostly filled parking lot. But I found a spot. Motioned for family to come along and... The place is big. And noisy. Between the jazz playing overhead and people everywhere, it was a cacophony of sounds. Yes, I'm aware it's a restaurant. But something about how it's set up sends noise from the farthest end to the other side. It just travels. Stanford's grill looks nice inside. the staff is clean, courteous and nice. No problem there. But the menu? Never mind the prices, this is Maryland. The massive menu must be printed for old people because everything seems a bit oversized...and geared toward booze. Lots of it. The part where food comes into the equation, well there isn't much variety. It's very limited--and before you spurt "It's a GRILL, bud!", lemme tell you...I've been to many other grill places where there's more to choose from. Basically drinks and prime rib, and not a prime rib I enjoyed paying $40 for. (Seriously, their idea of 'medium' was rare--when I cut into the steak I could hear an anguished moo bellow above the din.) If you know what you're looking for, go online and check their menu before going. If you're good with what they're offering, you won't be bummed. But don't think of Stanford's as a Plan B, because if you want Texas Roadhouse or BJ's...wait outside or show up right when they open. i didn't enjoy the experience, and I didn't enjoy the food. Although Stanford's fries were well seasoned. So that's one good thing. P.S. I saw a note elsewhere saying they have the same menu as Copper Canyon. I had a birthday party at Glenwood's for 30 people. Everyone loved the food EXCEPT for the CRABCAKES. Out of 9 people who ordered the crabcakes most of them had negative comments. I myself was disappointed in the size. They were very small in comparison to most of the other restaurants in the area. I was told by several people that the seasoning was "weird". Had it not been a very busy Saturday night, I would have immediately asked for a different table. The general noise level was bothersome even when the trio was on break. My hearing is slightly impaired, which aggravated the situation -- it is hopefully less of a problem for younger people, especially those engrossed with their phones. Two of my guests sent the salmon back, feeling it was somewhat undercooked; this was corrected expeditiously by the courteous and responsive staff. Once the issues were taken care of, the food itself was fine. But, given that I generally like to communicate with my friends during a meal, I likely won't repeat this experiment. read more

This was the first time we had been here. Our Daughter made reservations for Mothers day at 3:00, after the brunch was over. We arrived a little early to a packed parking lot and restaurant, but we were seated at 3:00. Our server, Carmin, couldn't have been any better. Even though she was super busy with such a crowd, she was very attentive and so nice! The food was delicious. I wish I had taken pictures. The Calimari appetizer was the best I have ever remembered having in Maryland! My Daughter and I both had salads Filet Mignon and the rotisserie chicken. They were HUGE!! could have fed at least two people each. I am happy I asked for the dressing on the side so I could take 3/4 of it home for a few more meals!! I'm older, Stanford is older. This is still a nice stop, likely at times a very nice place. With today's prices ($35 with tip for great burger/fries/iced tea) its nice to go somewhere that rewards that with solid execution on the food. The service is still very good, likely top for this segment of restaurant. The decor, and fit and finish of the room remains very nice, right on the verge of elegant. They had the fireplace going today, a sunny but cool Monday. I came in with a group of co-workers (that seems to be a theme). I can make the observation that something is a bit more casual about the people that come. I'm not at all trying to wish this place into snobbery- that's what I have liked about it, the "democracy" of anyone that can afford it here can feel comfortable. There is a slice of clientel that has the money (or credit). I saw more jeans today, I saw more flannel shirts. I still saw suits/jackets. ties, dresses and nice shoes- so the 2014 version that I first encountered is still here. I suspect dinner is a bit of a different crowd and dress code.
