Never taken my car here and never will because the company does not seem to take safety seriously. Each and everyday there is a line of parked cars all sitting in the bicycle lane waiting to get their car washed. Glitz does nothing to stop them and so their business model is based on putting cyclists lives at risk so that they can increase their profits. read more

Fantastic place for a car wash. The work they do is top notch and the price is more then fair for all the work they do. The one caveat is because they do such a fantastic job, it will take awhile for your card to get done. Do not expect to be in and out of this place in five minutes or so. If you see a line of cars on the street, know it will be awhile before you get in. read more

This is the single most suspect car wash I have ever been to. About me: Prior military who details on the side for myself and friends. Own a Chevy Colorado that I get compliments for all the time. I went here because I was helping a buddy with his apartment nearby, and needed a wash, but have a knee injury that makes it more difficult for me to do myself. There was a long line but I figured that probably means they know what they are doing... First of all, there isn't anything on the exterior of the storefront that states cash only. It's only when you get in the store that you realize its a purely cash business with an ATM. I had pulled past one of their neighboring competitors for this reason. I pulled in after about 25 minutes on Augusta waiting, and the dude immediately starts washing my wheels and so forth. I get out, point to a dirty spot on the chair, I ask if he can give it some extra attention to which he nods. I go in to wait for my truck to finish. This is where things went south in a hurry. Like I said, I have a mid-size pickup. Not an f-150, not a Dually 1-ton... a Chevy Colorado. This manager stated his name was Alonzo, obviously could tell I had a decent ride, and decided to up charge me to the most expensive wash they sell for an "Extra Large Truck or SUV" at checkout. I didn't even withdraw that much money from the ATM, so I argue with him, quickly realizing that he is much more concerned about charging me more money than all of the customers behind me. Perhaps this had something to do with the wait time, idk. I reluctantly withdraw more money from the fee associated ATM, and ask him for a receipt. This piece of work, who said was the manager, REFUSED TO GIVE ME A RECEIPT if I didn't sign on the cash only ticket overcharging me for this wash. This is all sorts of illegal, he even wrote the receipt illegibly and asked me to sign for a cash only transaction, conditionally telling me that he would not give me a receipt unless I signed, which is completely and totally unethical business practice. I took a look around, saw there were security cameras that presumably recorded this and for reasons related to avoiding conflict in front of many other customers took my leave. The wash itself wasn't bad... definitely wasn't worth what I paid, but they do a decent job. Didn't even touch the spot on my chair. Do not come to this storefront if you care about ethical business practices. One of the shadiest I've ever seen. Someone should really look into what is going on behind the scenes at this location. read more

Pay $30 to watch some guys scratch up your new truck. Awesome! Came here with a 3 week old truck on my wife and yelps glowing recommendations, but they are the only people to have ever touched my new truck and there are swirl marks all over both doors from someone going to town with a dirty rag or towel :/ If you have a new shiny black vehicle and want to keep it that way.... I think the "If you want it done right, do it yourself" rule applies. Go to youtube and learn the proper technique, order some supplies from amazon and just do it. If you don't have hose access, there is a DIY carwash not far away on grand... pay $5 and use their bay/water. read more

My car was nasssssty! I left here, it was cleeeeeeannnnn! My tires were nice and shiny too! They clean the outside and inside of the car...the trunk too if it's not overtaken with stuff. They also put this stuff on your tires to make them nice and shiny. This makes me happy. It's only $9 M-Th if you get there before 11. Definitely a fan! read more

The price has gone from $12 from $28 in a year for their hand wash! What a rip off. Plenty of other hand washes on the north side that are half the cost. I will never go their again. Absolutely satisfied. Had my camper van cleaned for 35 bucks, 25 for inside/outside, 10 extra because of an estimated 2.5 million bugs on the front (I drove the vehicle for 24,000 miles without a single wash, so the front looked like the Pet Sematary for insects). The car looked really nice afterwards, they applied some stuff to the wheels so a week an 800 miles later they still look shiny. The service was also quite fast, considering there were three or four cars ahead of me, I spent there maybe 25 min. Can recommend the place! read more

I've been coming to this car wash for quite some time. When it was previously called the Ritz. I've always found them to execute a decent job. Surprisingly enough my always searching for a deal papa introduced me to it! From a cost analysis standpoint it's excellent especially if you come for an early bird discount! They keep my crema Volvo looking pristine. On the downside, they don't accept credit cards....a major inconvenience! They do have one of those shoddy ATM's inside that you'd find in a shoddy night club. Lastly it would be so nice if they offered items at the point of sale. They are missing a major opportunity to upsell by not offering beverages or additional products. If you go you will not be dissatisfied.....neither will you leave wowed, but at least when they collect your money your brain will not calculate WOW in terms of price. read more

The staff was very pleasant and it is the first time coming out of a hand car wash where my windows were actually clean no marks from the rags. It was done in a timely fashion. I went to just get the exterior of my car washed. Took about 40 minutes, it wasn't busy. The guys were nice. The downside is they only take cash, there is an ATM inside ($3 fee goes to Glitz + $2.50 for the atm fee = ridiculous). They charged me $21 just for exterior washed, it was suppose to be $15 (that is what it say on the price list)! They are simply greedy, will not go here again! read more

You don't normally go into a car wash thinking I am gonna write a Yelp review for this, but after my terrific experience at Glitz I felt compelled to let the world, or at least the surrounding community, know what a great experience I had. I was greeted with a hand shake and a "how are you" which is out of the norm but quite pleasant. Then the waiting area is clean and comfortable with a window facing the car washing area so you watch while they clean the car, which is especially fun if you bring the kiddos with you. The attention to detail is unlike anything I have seen at a car wash and that includes when I have brought some of my the nicer cars I have owned to the dealership. They do this thing with a compressed air hose that gets the water off of surfaces so that when you lower your window after the wash the water doesn't stream down the window and streak it up. Nice touch! And to top it off, the cost is a fraction of the other car washes I have gone to. Only $13 for an interior and exterior wash with armor all on the tires! Crazy that I haven't gone to Glitz earlier but it will be the only car wash I go to moving forward. read more

Discovered this car wash with a Groupon and turns out it's the best car wash in Chicago (yes, we've scoped almost all of them). The washing team is methodical, a team carefully covers the entire exterior and interior of your car. The end result is great - and they do it quite quickly. We drive a big truck so the price is $19 - but given that saves us the time (and exposure to the terrible Chicago winter weather) - it's worth every penny. The inside waiting area is nice, the Wifi is a bit spotty but otherwise no complaints. Only bad news - others seemed to have discovered this lovely car wash and the wait time has recently been increasing. Maybe they'll open a new location? read more

They did a good job with the car wash, they cleaned it thoroughly and took about 20 mins. the only complaint i have the floormats were not dry when they put them back inside after a rinse, something i discovered the next day: wet carpet and ice inside of the car on the windshield. would give them another shot but check things out before i leave the wash. read more

Been to this car wash a couple of times my husband recommended it I did have to wait like 10 minutes before I could get in I mean not too bad considering that it was an early bird special. the price was on point as well as the service My car was cleaned inside and out just the way I needed it cleaned When I went to get in I seen that my windshield window had some spots that didn't get done because of my reverse camera but I let the guy know and they took care of it right away. They also had a nice waiting area although I found it freezing for my liking but was decent So far this is my new spot to wash my car. read more

I really want to love Glitz as my previous experience here had been nothing but outstanding. However, my most recent experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Let me start by saying that what attracted me to Glitz aside from the glowing Yelp reviews was its reasonable prices and their efforts to get you and your car in and out. If you're lucky, you'll be able to drive in right away, leave your key, and head up to the waiting room. It's nice and clean with comfortable seating. I emphasize on the comfy seating part. The bonus part is that you can watch your car getting washed while you wait. Transparency is always a good thing although I'm sure the car wash guys don't appreciate you watching over them like hawks. Anyways, the guy who took my car didn't seem thrilled that I pulled up. This certainly wasn't the last half hour of business hours--I try to be mindful about things like that. Perhaps it was a 90+ degree weather that exhausted him. That happens, and if that's the case, I feel his pain. I have a 2015 Subaru Outback that is pretty loaded with new technology. It doesn't require a key in the ignition as long as the key is in the car. I'm sure high end luxury cars have more complex features. Anyways, for being a professional car wash place, they didn't comprehend why there wasn't a key even after I explained to them. That right away did not make me feel comfortable. But I trusted my car's life in their hands anyways. Another distinguished feature is the sensory camera feature that is supposed to protect me from danger. Anytime I am too close to an object in my blind spot, my car alerts me. Make all the women driver jokes you want, but this feature is pretty cool. What's not cool is if the camera gets defected from a car wash. I turn the camera feature off every time I wash my car so that the sensory doesn't go crazy and shuts down. But the car wash people consistently turn it back on which goes to show how little knowledge they have about how to handle cars. Remember how I mentioned that the waiting area is nice because you can see everything that they are working on with your car? Well, one of the guys who was drying my car made a point to aggressively swing my door. He looked mad and just out of it...I get it, we all have bad days, but please don't take it out on my car. When I left, I there was also a very small crack in my windshield that wasn't there when I went in. Not happy about it. read more

They do a great job, hands down, but that often leads to VERY slow service and LONG waiting time. I've been going since they had their location on Chicago Ave when it seemed to be much more efficient. The last 2 times I've been, there were 2-3 cars out the door. I get it, the weather has been nice, and I expect to wait, but it took an hr+ between waiting and the clean. It was probably 40+ mins of waiting and 20 mins of actual cleaning time- maybe it's because the new location seems to be smaller. Not sure, but if they can figure out how to move vehicles through more efficiently, I would go to no other place, but giving up an hr+ of my time for a car wash is tough. read more
