If we'd have known our bathroom remodel was going to turn out like it did, we'd have done it ourselves. After having spent over a month in our "new" bathroom, all we can see are the mistakes and items left unfinished. Very early on concerns were raised about the poor installation job done on our tile and we were assured it would be remedied once it was grouted. We knew that would not be true and it was not. After all, how was grouting a bad installation job going to fix it? it isn't, it's just going to make it more permanent. When the installers ran short on our custom ordered tile, we were assured that even though it was going to be installed wrong, the tile seam in the shower corner would be matched up and that we wouldn't notice that it was installed incorrectly. It does not match up and it is very obvious it was installed incorrectly. In fact, it is the most common question asked: "Why did you have them do your new tile wrong? Wasn't it custom ordered?" The installation company came out to look and agreed to "fix" a few issues, but both Mike and the owner commented that we shouldn't look closer. We already had and we knew the tile installation job was chock-full of mistakes we will never unsee. Even the installer that was sent to "fix" the few items out of many, commented that he didn't know why they installed it like they did - confirming it was a bad installation all along. We hired what we thought was a professional to remodel our bathroom including new tile. We waited 10 weeks for custom-order tile only to have it installed very poorly and nobody willing to admit that it was a bad installation job or take responsibility. We're not the only ones that have noticed it. We've had plenty of comments like, "Why is the tile like that?", "Oh, did you do the tile yourself?", or "Did you have it installed like that so it looks old?" Nope, just got duped into paying for a poor installation job. And that's just the tile. To put it as kindly as possible, all-in-all this has been nothing short of a nightmare. read more

I found Mike Roop & Global Construction on the internet while looking for a local contractor in the area. I looked at the BBB website and found he had an "A+" rating score. After reading the different positive customer reviews, I wanted to schedule a meeting with Mike so that I could meet him and describe the remodeling that I was looking to do in the basement. Mike was very professional and attentive. He gave some great insight and comments to the ideas that I was thinking and gave me other great thoughts to consider. After meeting Mike and learning of his past projects and experience over the last 30 years, I knew Mike was the guy for the job. I didn't even bother to have another contractor come in to do a sales pitch. I was sold on Mike. My basement project was to turn a partially unfinished basement into an area that would be a place where family and friends could come and enjoy a fun and warm space. What I ended up with was much more than what I expected! It is now a more open space that features a BEAUTIFUL CUSTOM BAR that has a WOW factor due to the sleek butcher block bar top, burned cedar planks framing, custom iron foot rail, bar sink, custom cabinets, and lighting that you will not find anywhere as it was put together by hand to incorporate wooden pulleys and rope to tie into the rustic theme that I wanted. My favorite thing to do was to take a picture at the bar and send to friends to meet us. The response was always asking what bar or restaurant I was at. Several of my friends didn't realize I was taking a picture of my basement. This project is going to be submitted to the Better Homes & Garden magazine which I think is very cool. Mike has had his work featured in the magazine before. Almost everything about the space is custom work. It was quickly obvious Mike took pride in his work. While he listened to my ideas, he wasn't afraid to offer suggestions and feedback. Which I very much appreciated, and it very much shows! He even took extra material that was left over and did a make over on the old basement refrigerator to tie it to the theme. The guy is an artist!! Guy comes out and promises a quote on Monday. Monday comes and goes w/o a quote and he says I'll get you a quote by Friday. Friday comes and I text him, no quote. He texts Saturday morning, says "his girl" sent a quote on Friday PM. I reply I never received, please send again. He says I'll send out later today. He never does, then has the gall to say I'm sorry you feel that way when I text him to say I'm disappointed he never got back to me. Guy had no intention to get back to me. This was over a quote! From the beginning Mike has been nothing but flexible with the remodel; he has offered advice in areas we knew nothing about, worked with us when troubles came up, and just has been extremely helpful throughout the whole process. When we wanted to add more to his list, he was super accommodating in helping us achieve the bathroom that we wanted and if anything arose, Mike always went out of his way to make sure things were 100% up to both our standards and his. He was so helpful, he even fit in a job for our grandparents when they needed a shower bar installed last minute. The owner Mike was amazing to work with. He transformed our entire house. He installed floors and taller baseboards throughout our first floor. He also knocked down our tall breakfast bar, installed backsplash and had a company install counters. We also had a patio installed. First, let me say that everyone that we worked with was extremely thorough. They always made sure to ask me what I wanted before they made decisions to proceed. They were very respectful of my home and always wore masks and had foot coverings. Mike always stopped by to check on the progress. He stayed in constant contact. I went to Floor and Decor with him because he wanted to make sure that I saw all of my options for the schluter. After the work was complete, we noticed a chip in the floor. He immediately set up an appointment to fix it. When I say he went above and beyond, he did. We had a sink installed and noticed that there was a hairline crack in it. We ordered a new sink and he checked the sink as it was delivered and refused it from Amazon because it was cracked as well. As soon as the new sink came in, his guys were here to install it. If we ever decide to have other work done, we will 100% contact Mike. read more
