Here I go writing down a review about this medically competent and facility plagued by a…read morepatronizing passive/aggressive top-down management and lack of appropriate communication skills which ,during my almost 3 months of prescribed care from my Insurance for an occupational injury on my left hand, was NOT the prescribed amount of (6) of therapy sessions . Reasons were that despite my attempt of gauging my ability to proper process my physical recovery session by session ,the Management KEPT TRYING to increasingly change the time and the frequency of the visits by bombarding me with text messages and phone calls trying to CHANGE or CANCEL the time of the appointments sometimes several times a week. I tried to explain my position and need of slow recovery obtaining very scarce attention from Erica or Andrew, the director of operation I suppose . One of the people at the front desk admitted that they would rather listen to My Doctor, then my Insurance case Mgr. before allowing me to regulate the frequency of the visits.Their justifications had been that because of the "Pandemic" the enlisted Physical Therapists were scarce or unavailable the days they were originally scheduled, reducing the de facto availability of such medical staff to one day a week. Also one of my sessions was callously and "cancelled" by the Lunar New Year festivity without an inkling of consideration for replacing it or making up for it. There are more details I could share here but for brevity's sake I WILL CAUTION every person thinking of undertaking treatment with this Establishment to be aware of these facts,be wary of the many piece of documentation you will be asked to sign here, characterizing this firm with an exuberant and unbearable, to the point of being rude ,CYA attitude...overall I am choosing a different alternative for my care...Patients beware!!

The front desk lady (acting as an office manager) misleads patients by insisting that Medicare strictly requires a doctor's referral for physical therapy, which is not true. California has Direct Access laws that allow patients to see a physical therapist without a prescription -- up to 12 visits or 45 days, whichever comes first In my mother's case, she did have a prescription with the reason clearly stated, but the diagnosis section mentioned "arm" instead of "wrist." I had the X-rays and radiology report with me, and even contacted the doctor on the spot, who confirmed the diagnosis and said their office would send a corrected referral. That still wasn't good enough. The staff insisted on a completely new prescription. This clinic is absolutely not patient-oriented. The staff are rude, dismissive, and extremely unhelpful. Avoid this place.

We've had the opportunity to work with several wonderful therapists, and we're grateful for all of them. I'd also like to mention his speech therapists, Ms. Dana and Ms. Jena, and Mr. Joseph (OT therapist) to who have been such an important part of his progress. They've taken the time to get to know my son, incorporate his interests into each session, and keep him engaged and motivated to learn. They also do a great job keeping us involved by sharing his progress after each session and giving us ideas for what we can continue working on at home. Watching my son grow in his communication skills has been incredibly rewarding. We know that progress didn't happen overnight, and we're so grateful for the patience, encouragement, and dedication his therapists have shown him. Her speech intelligibility has improved tremendously, and her confidence has grown along with it. Arianna is patient, knowledgeable, and consistently made therapy engaging while giving us practical activities to reinforce skills at home. He thrives here. He's made so much progress with both gross motor skills and occupational skills! He gets physical therapy from Byn and Jonathan who are the best!!! Both of them are so good with my son and have really helped him improve! He loves them and is always asking to go "play" with Byn and Jonathan! He also gets occupational therapy from Ms.Patty, who is also so great! She is really sweet and has helped my son grow so much! The office staff is Also so responsive and helpful! Update: Much better experience!!…read more Since this is one of the only places my insurance takes for the OT I need, I gave them a second chance to begin my needed therapy after a hand injury. I called the Huntington Beach office (I was originally supposed to attend the Costa Mesa location) and spoke to someone different who was able to book an appointment for me with ease. I had a pleasant experience the second time around as the receptionist was kind and sympathetic to my situation. So far I've seen two therapists and both of them were wonderful! They listened to my concerns, took initial measurements of my mobility, and made sure I was comfortable and informed. They used a variety of techniques and tools to help strengthen and stretch my hand after my injury. With the daily exercises at home between my appointments, I am already seeing big improvements in my mobility and strength in my hand. The owner, Scott, was one of my therapists and he was very kind and open to hearing from me. I appreciate that he took the time to meet with me and address the difficulty I initially had in scheduling my initial appointment. He made sure I was taken care of for my future appointments before I left. It was evident that he cares for his patients and I look forward to continuing here for the duration of my treatment!

My very honest review…read more This isn't my first time with Learning Tree & I really wanted to give this other location a try. My son is almost 3 & non verbal, but uses signs to communicate. He was evaluated by Ms. Michelle. First off... this office wanted to RUSH me in, they refused to give me a time that would of worked with me. I'm not sure what their rush was. They picked the absolute WORST time to come in for an evaluation (9 AM), & what do you expect ? My son did not want to cooperate & did not perform well. All this office cares about is numbers. The first visit we had with Ms Michelle actually wasn't with her at all. Instead, she introduced her grad student. So during the whole hour (actually 40 minutes to be fair), Ms Michelle sat in the corner of the room, typing on her computer, not even interacting with my son. From my point of view it looked like Ms Michelle was busy evaluating her grad student & not my son (it was like this all visits we had where she was present). The grad student did her best to work with my son. Her personality is so low energy, calming, quiet. She had the demeanor of a yoga instructor, just doesn't work well with my high energy toddler who didn't reciprocate. The sessions felt so awkward with Ms Michelle just there in the corner, not interacting & the grad student taking control over the sessions. It felt like the biggest waste of time. I hated how I felt like I had to communicate to the grad student with questions, instead of asking Ms Michelle directly. An example: I showed the grad student a video of my son repeating a word. I said he has only done this once & hasn't done it again. I wanted an answer why he only said the word once & not ever again. Her explanation: "oh they just do that sometimes" My husband took my son during a different session. He agreed the grad student was a terrible fit for my son & that during the whole time Ms Michelle just sat in the corner playing with her hair. The last visit we had Ms Michelle wasn't even present during our session & was with the Grad Student entirely. How unprofessional & irresponsible. Who does that ? Ms. Michelle does. Another visit we had here was with Ms. Flor. I wish my son had her instead because what a night & day difference with her compared Ms Michelle. Ms Flor was so interactive & enthusiastic. The whole time my toddler was excited & loving his time there. Also wanted to add that Ms. Michelle claims my son has delays in gross motor skills. My son started walking at 11 months & climbing up stairs at 14 months. He can jump & do anything physical. So just a warning to anyone with a future appt with her for your child's evaluation: don't trust her. Despite the high reviews, it's so unfortunate I had such a bad experience with learning tree.
