Food was good, drink great, and service was OK. Pork Carnitas was ok, but a bit dry, and other nacho toppings were good. Booths, tables, bar seating, and a pool table complete the dining area. There are many choices for Mexican food in Door County. Perhaps too many. But there is ONE you must try if you LOVE SALT. I mean a LOT of SALT. Everything in my three tacos (al Pastor, Chicken, Shredded Beef, Refried Beans and Rice) was terribly over salted. But we were never asked once how everything was. If you are the owner, you should sample what is going out. If you the chef, you should (I assume) quit smoking - over salting is an easy to spot sign of a smoking chef. Sad to say, this could be a desirable sit-down Mexican restaurant on Sturgeon Bay's West Side. This was our second visit here. I am a mexican food snob from St. Louis. I have a hard time when out of town finding Mexican food that lives up to my standards however Gloria's exceeded my expectations! I started with a spicy margarita that was amazing! You could tell they make their own mix and don't use that cheap, sugary, pre-made mix. We got a queso and guacamole. Both were so good and the guacamole was made in front of us at our table. For my entree I got chicken fajitas. I have no complaints all of my food was fantastic! First things first. We walked in with rezzies for a birthday dinner. No one at host desk. Three men eventually came to the desk, We were ignored. No acknowledgement of our presence. Until finally the hostess showed up. People make an impression of a restaurant within 1 minute or less. Fix it. Things quickly got better. Wait staff was really pleasant and efficient. Beer selection was great. Fajitas were delicious and a huge portion. And the tableside guac was fabulous. I wish they could use baffles to cut down on the noise. It is a large space with high ceilings. And the mariachi band was really fun. People were having a great time. Our second time here. So food is excellent. We will be back. read more

My rating breaks down like this: Ambiance 2 stars Food 3 stars Service 4 stars This averages to 3 stars, but I'm bumping it up because the restaurant is new and needs time to refine its operation. Ambiance: The dining room is very large. Tables are spread out and there is a stage. The acoustics are unfortunate. The ceiling is high and there are no sound absorbing materials, so there is a pronounced echo. We were there somewhat late, so there weren't many people, but I imagine that when it's busy, it must be very loud. Interesting art on the walls. Food: The food was perfectly good, typical Mexican fare, and large portions. The margaritas come in small, medium and large; and decorated with an orchid!. The medium was quite plentiful and tasty. Service: Two things about service. 1.) Our server was very pleasant and attentive. 2.) The kitchen screwed up one of our orders and he ran off to get what I ordered. Not a big deal, but it's awkward when three people have their meals and one person has to wait. If the owner/manager reads this, I have a suggestion: Install some floor-to-ceiling theater curtains to solve the bad acoustics. read more

We had a large group and the server did not want to split bills; we've never run into that issue before (he did do but tacked on a service fee on all our bills). It was a dozen people, 6 bills, so no explanation of service fee if it was because large group? No taco salad or a la cart; I don't care for rice and beans but that's on all entrees so no choice. I had the sirloin fajita which was tough; would not order again. They also need to lose the loud distracting music in the background making it difficult to have a conversation. read more

I've been here twice since they opened recently and the food is bomb. First time I got the chicken with steak and rice & beans. Mexican rice hands down is fire. The salsa they give you with your chips is really good too. The meal was bomb. The margarita was a little watered down. The 2nd time I got a pińa colada which was good, def recommend that one w/ 3 tacos carne asada and rice & beans and those tacos were amazing and so filling. Took the family here for the first time there other day to try the New Mexican restaurant in town. Nice bar walking in and large dining area that I get the feeling was designed for a concert venue versus an eating establishment. Our server Symone was awesome and the food was amazing. Only gripe was the music. Turn. That. Ish. Down. Felt like I was at a Latin Megadeath cover band concert that was being played through one busted 80's Panasonic boombox at the servers station. Had to shout to be heard across the table. I get that the majority of door county residents use hearing aids but man, that doesn't mean you have to blow the rest of our eardrums out. Not sure what Spotify playlist was selected either but maybe a softer Hispanic cantina playlist versus the Mariachi manic music station. Somehow our baby girls was able to behave but her eyes were as wide as dinner plates from the time we sat down to when we left. Music was too loud, robbed us of enjoying the meal as a family. That's my only gripe, food was second to none on the penninsula and service was awesome, just please, for the love of sanity and long term hearing, turn the music down. Will re-review after a next visit but won't sit down if music is still obnoxiously loud. read more

We started in the bar with yummy daiquiris, chips, and salsa; our time with the bartender, Sebastian, was great! He was quick and attended to our needs. After drinks, we headed to the dining room. Overall, the food was good, but once we were done with our food. We waited at a table for our server to come. He never did after getting tired of waiting. We headed back up to the front. Service was exceptional. Smiles and attentiveness all around. We were seated in a booth, which was not comfortable for us, so asked to be moved, and were seated at a table immediately. We shared the appetizer quesadilla, and the veggies were crisp/tender, had a nice char as did the chicken. However, we like our tortilla a bit more charred and crispy. I wanted to like this place, truly. It's in a location that has had at least 2 restaurants previously, and this area could use some more dining options, especially at night. We went on a Tuesday night around 7:30 pm, which is pretty late for this area. It was fairly empty in the bar area and the servers were kind of lounging around. One of them did lead us to a booth in the cavernous back room; there were several booths filled with other customers. The chips and the salsas were quite good; the service was a bit indifferent. I got the feeling that they just wanted to close up and go home. The *background* music was absolutely deafening, and the room had no sound absorption at all. We could barely hear each other across the booth. Someone had a birthday, so they banged pots and pans and played a birthday song even louder! i get that some people like loud music in restaurants because it makes it feel like there's a buzz, but this was over-the-top crazy. I can't imagine how loud it must be on the weekends with larger groups in attendance. Finally, the shrimp tacos I ordered tasted good initially, but later on, I was sick as a dog. I don't know if the shrimp were undercooked, or what the problem was, but that is a huge concern. My husband's meal was perfectly fine. This place has just opened, so these could be growing pains, but I would advise avoiding the shrimp for a while until they get their act together. read more
