What a find. Had a bit of doubt in the beginning, but this place has become one of my favorite Chicago Chinese food restaurants. Service was friendly. The restaurant has only 6 tables and should expect some wait time during the busy hours. No wait list nor reservation. Food was good with few dishes that I found extremely good - soft shell crab was the best I had in a long time with light batter and perfectly crispy (5+/5). French style beef tenderloin was also amazing - cooked well-done (I usually eat all my steaks rare or blue) like most Chinese restaurant, but the meat was very nicely marinated and soft. I will definitely come back for these dishes + have few items I would like to try on my next visit. To be honest and to be fair, the other dishes I had were great and nicely cooked, but there are also other places that makes these dishes well around the corner as well. Our group of 8 was seated with no wait on a Sunday afternoon, and we ordered the following dishes (**= especially recommend): - Millionaire Fried Rice**: this was a unique dish that I've never had before and really enjoyed--it's like a wet fried rice, a bit like congee in texture. Thanks tiktok for the mid experience. We got 6 dishes for 5 people -- soft shell crab, salt pepper squid, chicken fried rice, mushroom dish, pea shoots dish, chicken dish. After eating, we were more bloated than full from the food. Food was authentic but mid. Squid was overcooked and therefore dry. Veggies were bland but its mildness complemented the very salty fried dishes. Had to ask for rice on the side. I've been here several times this month for dinner with my family and friends and each time has been phenomenally delicious! The seafood here is very fresh and well prepared -- not ever overcooked. Dining experience is enhanced with the easy iPad ordering (can be in Chinese or English language) and be used to call over the server. My personal favorites here are the soft shell crab, razor clams, salt and pepper tofu, steamed sea bass fish and snow pea sprouts and always get these every time I visit. The other notable items are the lamb casserole (super spicy - but delicious), crispy smelt and ong choy. My only other wish is that they carry other live seafood dishes like spot prawns, king crab, geoduck, etc. Rice is extra $1 per order and does not come with the food, unfortunately, but that's becoming the norm in most Chinatown restaurants. Another plus for those that like alcohol with their meal... it is BYOB with no corkage. Service was provided by Wendy the last few times and she's been great! I love Go 4 Food! We came here on a whim on Thursday night and dined in. It had been awhile since I've been here, and it was my partner's first time. We were seated quickly at a round table with a lazy susan and we had the table all to ourselves. Lucky us, and we needed it from all the food that we ordered! When we go to Chinatown we tend to feast to our heart's content with the intention of bringing home leftovers. Here's what we ordered for 2: App: Vegetarian Spring Rolls App: Vegetarian Hot and Sour Soup App: Sliced Pork with Garlic Sauce (served cold) Main: Sizzling Pot Stir Fried Lamb Meat Main: Manila Clams with Basil Butter Main: Egg Tofu with Pea Tips Main: Stir-fried Eggplant in Garlic Sauce We placed our orders using a tablet on our table and our server was super helpful in answering our questions. We requested hot tea in addition to ice water, and those things were brought out very promptly. The portions are generous and shareable, and the food was fresh and so well seasoned (esp the pea tips with the egg tofu). I normally slather on sriracha but this time around, I went without all the extra hot oil/sauce and it stood on its own. It felt extra special to order the market price Manila clams. We did splurge a bit (the dish was $26) but it was fresh clams in a delicious buttery basil sauce. It wasn't Italian, it wasn't French, it was a distinctly Asian dish - my compliments to the chef. It was so unique. We ate our dinner with white rice (charged for each bowl) which we didn't mind too much. My two favorites of the night was the hot and sour soup. We ordered a medium to share and it could have fed a family of 6! It was tangy and salty and vinegary with tons of tofu and wood ear. The second favorite was the sizzling pot lamb. While it wasn't served in a sizzling pot, I think it was wok-fried and absolutely drool-worthy. The onions and scallions combined with the sauce and lamb was a 10/10. I can't wait to be back to try their other items. It's a great value and their food is fresh and their portions are generous. Surprisingly, they deliver to Skokie but you have to put your order in and they'll deliver a bunch of orders at once. I haven't tried this service yet. They're also Michelin rated, but I think Yelp ratings matter more (I usually look for 4 stars, at the very least). I enjoyed their pork belly with veggies (there was a long wait but it was a very generous serving), the beef dishes are what you'd expect for Hong Kong style cooking, also - you can eat the crispy shrimp heads (I ordered the salted egg version). They turned down a large group due to not having reservations, so try not to come with 20 people or more. The spicy crab is yummy but not really spicy, just curry flavored. I probably prefer their ginger scallion version but this version is still very tasty. The price is high, $50 vs. soft shell crab $28, I'd go with soft-shell crab next time. The rice noodle dish is superb, it's hard to make such simple dish stand out but they did. The other dishes could have been more refined! I do think the egg plant picks have been presented better. The fried rice we got i have to admit was pretty salty. The services was okay. This is our go-to Chinese restaurant in Chicago. We love this modern take on Cantonese style cuisine. We love the crispy silverfish, they're like yummy salty fries. Our favorite dish is the salted egg yolk, crab, oh boy is it messy but so worth it- we were licking the batter off the shell. The kids loved the French tenderloin beef. It took them over an hour to bring out our food when other tables that came in after us actually finished their entire meals before we even got the first course. When we asked about the food, the waitress was rude and said they were busy. The portion sizes were not what we were expecting. We had 7 people, they said the feast would feed 5 so we ordered a couple additional dishes and it still wasn't enough. The crab was also very difficult to eat. Well Chicago's Chinatown is just a few blocks away and my hunny and I decide to give this restaurant a go. Hunny was very impressed that they have a Michelin Star. While trying to place an order online chownow said they were no longer accepting orders so I called in and I was able to place an order via phone. The staff were friendly over the phone and in person. When we got there our food was ready on time (30 mins) and bagged waiting for us. What we good: 1 order of orange chicken 1 order of the Beef Tenderloin French Style 1 order of sesame Chicken 1 order of egg rolls 1 side of egg fried rice White rice on the side We both really enjoyed the egg fried rice, Sesame Chicken, and Beef. Good flavor. I was NOT a fan of the orange chicken. I did like the spice kick. I did not like the over all orange flavor and it was pinch cold. Best meal I ever had in China town and I've been going for 40 years! Go for the Sunday crab dinner. The talented owner brings a live 7 lb crab to the table.
